This spot is a cool, trendy, unique spot. It's a huge outdoor lot with everything you need. From a bar with craft beer (and cocktails for those of you who don't do beer), to food trucks, coffee, corn hole, dog park, etc......... you can get it all here. First off let me just say that San Diego is such a beautiful city. This was my first time is SD. My cousin and I were staying in the "GasLamp" area of SD for a wedding and the hotel we were staying in was in the heart of everything: from food, to beach, to drinks! The QUARTYARD was recommended by another cousin and it so happened that the wedding (we were attending) rehearsal dinner was taking place there. We didn't get to attend that part, but we joined the bridal party later in the evening for drinks. WOW! This place is beautiful! Outdoor seating (perfect for the warm SD nights), the strings of lights, the little doggy park area; it was overall a place where I didn't feel like a tourist. It just felt like walking into your favorite hometown bar. Smiling faces from both the staff and the lil puppies! Unfortunately, I can't comment on prices of drinks, but I can say the selections and promptness of getting your drinks is excellent! We just finished our Quartyard delivered Thanksgiving dinner and it was so perfectly delicious that I felt compelled to post this review ASAP before we all fall into turkey induced comas. Everything from the moist, tender turkey, to the fabulously seasoned side dishes and artisan breads made us feel like we were eating a home cooked meal that somebody slaved away in the kitchen for hours to make. Quartyard is one of San Diego's greatest gems. It is most common to many locals in the downtown San Diego neighborhoods but is quickly becoming a hotspot to travelers. I love the concept of this place. They have a dog park and beer and you can even get some really Good food here. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the dog park is really small and not the great for people with energetic dogs that need a lot of room to run. The staff is really friendly and helpful so I will definitely be going back because it's so close to my place. And I would recommend to anybody with a dog to check out but kinda disappointed the dog park isn't bigger but still a great place to go for lunch. They even have events every weekend which is cool. Great place for a good espresso and a great beer! In downtown San Diego and very uniquely designed, it was constructed with shipping containers and has a great open place with a stage! The girls that work at the coffee place wich is outside the beer garden are friendly and know how to prepare a good espresso. The only thing I can say negative about it, is the price of the coffee and the only reason I did not gave it five stars. A very short single espresso shot(which single in reality does not exist) is 2,50$ and the double(a double should be a shot of espresso, there is no such thing as asingle) is 3,00$ which honestly makes no sense. But other than that is good and a very cool place. I don't think I will go again to have my espresso and offer fix there, but definitely I will go for the beer. read more

First off, such a large and open spot to hang out at in downtown San Diego. The large concert venue leaves room to hear local bands as well as some larger name artists. There's a large bar (made out of shipping containers of course) that I have never had a problem getting service at, even when it's packed. Thursday nights they always do a local market which is really cool. They also always have food trucks! Super awesome. Last but not least, the dog area. By far my favorite reason to come here. There's a large gated area you can go and let the dogs roam off leash, not to mention the whole place is dog friendly! The tap list at the bar is short and sweet but has a very good selection. This was my first visit to Quartyard and I was very pleased. Came down from LA to see one of my favorite House Music Divas, Lisa Shaw performing on a recent sunny Sunday afternoon. This place is like a rooftop bar, but it is on the street level. The venue itself is very visually pleasing and the sound system, stage and dance areas are fabulous. The only things that were a little less than perfect were the long wait at the bar...almost 30 minutes. It was St. Patrick's Day so it might have been a good idea to have a few more bartenders on hand. The other thing was a noticeable unpleasant odor of doggie waste near the stage ...I didn't see any, but at times the smell was a bit much. Would love to return to this cute spot in the summer for more House Music under the stars. read more

We came here on the 4th of July with a bunch of friends around 4PM. This was my first time here and I would definitely go back. First off it's all out doors and they converted these large metal storage containers into their bar, bathroom and kitchen, which was super rad and imaginative. They had all these picnic tables around for seating as well as covered areas if you wanted to get out of the sun. They also had a few really fun bar games such as; Giant Jenga and Cornhole. We played giant jenga and had a blast playing. They have a little doggy park next door, so it's a great place to bring your pooch. The doggies can hang out in the Quartyard main area as well. They have a great setup for hanging with a bunch of friends and having a great time. They do have a full bar with a ton of great craft beers from all over. I will definitely go back. I love, love, love the dog park. It's my favorite little joint in the city. I like being able to have a beer and hang out with my dog in a comfortable setting. There's a great community forming within the dog park, and I'm happy to give my donations each time I go. It's a beautiful, unique spot with giant jenga, corn hole, food trucks that come and go, as well as Sausage and Meat and Messugah slinging noms and delicious coffee treats. The service at the bar is appalling though. I am here at least twice a week and still not one bartender has learned my name, had a meaningful conversation with me, nothing. This place is a really awesome addition to downtown! There is a full bar with TVs and many craft beer choices. Every day there are different food trucks, so check the website for your choice of the day. Every day they have their s&m meat which has sausages. It's converted parking lot space so everything is outdoors. There is a covered patio part and several umbrellas scattered about. The best part is you can take your beer into the dog park- yes dog area! It's a fenced off astro turf off leash dog area. Plenty of space for the dogs to run around and play. There's a water bowl and running water for the pups. As well as poop bags and trash cans. Beware though I went on hot day and the turf was so hot it blistered my dogs paws. :( not a big deal but just something to consider. The bathrooms are clean and new. And the trees have lights and counters built in to set your beer/food on. More bars need off leash dog areas! Also if you're in the neighborhood you can go into use the dog park without buying anything, it is open to the public. read more

Never once in all my trips to SD have I ever said, 'Hey, let's head to the Quartyard', but I've never NOT been there on a visit. Every. Single. Time. SD is built for being outdoors and the Quartyard plays on that theme well. Get a drink. Stay outside. Bring your dog. A relaxed and chill concept. I've seen bands here, enjoyed happy hour, played in a charity corn hole tourney... things are always happening. At the very least, you can grab a cocktail and play with someone else's mutt in the pup area. Speaking of cocktails, if you get the itch (or shake, you animal) for a drink early in the day, happy hour nets you $2 off cocktails. Vodka soda's will run you under $5, with a double just a few bucks more. Trouble... in a good way. Come here for an outdoor drink amongst the new(ish) East Village buildings and enjoy the sun! While the food and bar are decent, security really doesn't adhere to or enforce their "fight or bite" removal policy for pets and their owners. I've been several times and more than one dog has tried to attack my dog for no reason other than dominance and bad behavior. I've witnessed Other dogs being bitten. Rather than wait for security, I just remove myself. But I sure do wonder what would happen if my dog behaved that way and made "other owners" feel uncomfortable? What's not to love? This place is great, and soooo needed in our city. There are big long wooden tables with benches for people to sit, eat, and drink beer. Yup, you can order beer from a big, cool-looking outdoor bar. There is a small-ish dog park with artificial grass and water. It is not divided into big/small sides. We visited twice and it was packed both times, with mostly large dogs. There is even a stand-up table area where you could drink your beer. This makes me a teeny bit nervous because it means people can bring in food, which I would't recommend unless you want 20 dogs crowding around you. It got pretty crazy in there!! Not recommended for timid or fearful dogs. :) There is a rotation of different food trucks and S&M meat has a storefront (restaurant-front?) where you can get tasty vittles. I believe there is a coffee shop but it was closed when we were there. And I almost forgot to mention that there is a stage for live entertainment, but it wasn't being used when we were there. This would be such a fun place to come with friends, have a few beers, eat, and hang out with your dogs. read more
