We were all in the mood for Greek food this time around and so we went to the Quarry Café. The food was actually pretty good. I just found it odd that it came with rice. I never had Greek food come with rice before. The prices were not too bad. I of course, got a souvlaki dinner. I think we all did that day. It was nice inside. I like the feeling of being there was a nice view outside and I believe there was outdoor seating, but I can't guarantee that. Wow. What a neighbourhood treat! A casual mom and pop Greek inspired menu with fantastic patio off a quiet street to enjoy a classic breakfast. Friendly service, reasonable prices and large portions. No wonder this place is a hidden gem and considered one of the top 5 breakfast spots. Located in scarb on the border of east York, I've lived in the area for years but always drove by this place. Decided to give it a shot during covid because of the patio and was not disappointed! I'll be returning for years to come. Belgian waffle was massive. $13 for this hunk of sweetness?! Wow! My partners meal was also $13-14 and he couldn't finish. Tasty, fill your gut way to start the day. All day breakfast too. I'll be back to try the lunch / dinner options. Came to this spot on a Sunday morning. The service was phenomenal. It has a family-friendly vibe and the staff were super attentive. I ended up getting the French Connection breakfast and struggled to finish it. It was delicious. Coffee was constantly topped up. We had a table for two and the plates and glasses could barely fit. Had dinner at Quarry Cafe last evening. Started with Greek Salad and garlic bread. The salad was fresh and plentiful. The dressing was great. Ordered the liver and onions as my main. Came with potatoes and grilled asperagus. The liver was so tender it pretty well melted in my mouth. Along with a coke, my bill was less than $20. That's what I call extreme value for my money. These guys took over from the old owners a couple years back and they've done a great job. Very friendly, family-run establishment. The fact of the matter is - regarding the current 3 1/2 star review - this is a fairly tight knit neighbourhood and not a gourmet dining/tourist location! We are long time customers, and have been going to The Quarry Cafe for years and years. Food is good, portions perfect, and if you have John as your server, you will want for nothing. He is top notch because of his attentiveness to his customers. He is often on his own until another staff member comes in, or one of the new owners. He still manages to pull it all off! Hats off to him!! The ONLY reason we did not give 5 stars, is because we miss some of the old menu items (under a different owner) from a couple of years ago. No longer do they offer crepes, which is unfortunate, because you rarely find crepes in a cafe/diner, and it was a menu item we always looked forward to. Another menu item missed is the 'Eggs Blackstone'. I believe the cook is the previous owner, so he knows what he is doing when it comes to serving good food, plated well, and appetizing. read more

I usually go to The Quarry in the evenings, however, lately I have tried it for weekend brunch. In their defense they are very busy, but the service is terrible. Our order was taken after others had arrived and then it still took an additional 10 minutes to get coffee and juice. Our waitress charged us $4.95 to add a slice of ham to a grilled cheese sandwich and in the end she messed up our bill Last time I ordered the club house sandwich and it was fine, I had the breakfast potatoes instead of fries and found them to be inedible. My daughter's grilled cheese must have been made on the same surface because it had the same flavour. The only way to describe it was rancid. This is too bad. The staff that work on weekdays are so nice and are reason enough to visit. Weekends, however, should be avoided. read more

The Quarry is our local diner and we often will call up in advance with our order to pick it up and take it home. The food consists of typical diner type entrées: lasagne, pork chops, burgers, fish and chips, etc. The wait staff have been there for years and are always friendly. Often there will be only one on, however, and the restaurant will be jam-packed making table visits a little bit less frequent than desired. Breakfast at the Quarry is delicious. It isn't out of this world but for a fair price you get lots of food. We particularly enjoy the pancake and sausage combos. The pancakes are fluffy and the sausage salty. What more do you want? For lunch and dinner we'll order the grilled cheese and different sandwiches. The grilled cheese is large and greasy - not disgusting greasy but if you're looking for an artisan grilled cheese - this isn't it. We return regularly, usually three times a month. read more

My friend ordered their version on the big breakfast and yeah... It was big enough that it couldn't be finished. The coffee though, wasnt as good. My wife and I recently moved to this neighborhood from the downtown core, and this has become our new weekend brunch spot. Really good food, and at good prices too. The quantity is also quite large. Service has been very good every time we've been here, and this is despite it getting very busy over weekends. Highly recommend it! read more

This is a horrible spot if you have children. The owners are trashy and make you feel unwelcome. Do not go. After horrible service and a lecture about how my 16 month old should have respect and not throw food on the floor I refused to tip. The lady actually called me on it and said" so because of way he treat you I get no tip" I wanted to say yes because I saw you complain to your husband about my baby and because you didn't really serve us!! I visited this place for lunch a few months ago. I've lived close by for a while, but never bothered to visit... so my family decided to try it. It wasn't great or anything. I'll start with what I didn't like about this place: The server was nice, but she leaned over the table a lot, which put me off. My salad was warm, which means it was sitting out of the fridge for a while or under a heat lamp, which either of these things shouldn't have been done. Also at the end of the meal, we ordered desserts, and they didn't come at the same time. Which was annoying because it some people had to wait while the other ate their food. It just put everything off. Most of the people my table had the club sandwich, which was good. I had a greek salad, my grandma and sister had a garden salad and fries and gravy. My grandfather had the pork souvlaki dinner with rice, and no one had any complaints about their food, so I guess they liked it. Overall, to me, it wasn't great. read more

WE often go to the Quarry for breakfast. The new owners are making every effort to satisfy old customers, and we are very, very happy with the food and service. The breakfasts are great!! we hope to make it there for dinner soon. They changed a few things when they first opened up that we thought were so-so, and we made suggestions and they really listened. The Quarry is a reliable neighbourhood restaurant with food and prices that you would expect from that type of restaurant. An easy walk for people in the area is a plus for us. The wait staff are hard working and friendly. It was recently renovated and is bright and cheerful - a renovation renaming it Greek Casual. However, neighbourhood pressure made it clear that it really is the Quarry and the old name was restored and a regular menu added to the Greek focused one that was retained. Just finished my breakfast from this place and I can say that I feel ripped off. For 17 dollars this what I got (I ordered steak and eggs with extra toast). One very over-cooked steak, burned home fries and a second helping of toast that the cook ignored .When I asked the servers about the missing toast he was helpful but it still took 8 minutes to arrive even though the place was only one third full. I've been going here with my kids almost every weekend for about a year. Not once have I ever been charge an extra $1.00 for ordering off the "brunch menu" because it was after 11 am. I understand the extra charge during the week when people are actually eating lunch after 11. However, on the weekend everyone around me is eating breakfast past 11. What a great little spot .... I'm from Philly and I've always found Toronto to be a little bland when it comes to breakfast scene. But, a few weekends ago I tried this little spot hidden away on Gerrard near Warden. Banana crepe was out this world ....It came with a bowl of fruit and plain yogurt ...the fruit (berries and such) was fresh and high quality and could have been dish in i self. The Eggs Florinitne were also ridiculously good....very fresh tasting spinach and seasoned just right. The Blue Cheese Burger was soooo good .... again quality ingredients ...high grade ground beef and delicious strong blue cheese.. . Fries were also yummy.. It was a Sunday- The place seem modestly packed with people coming from church....but I definitely think this place hasn't really been discovered - I want to recommend it especially because the rest of the restaurant scene in that area (and even the entire beaches to the south) is kinda crappy. read more

My wife and I went for breakfast this am for the 1st time. We ordered, received our breakfast and paid in a little over 1/2 hr. Crepes with fresh fruit were great. Coffee superb and my wife (who is hard to please) got her eggs benedictine perfect. But the highlight was our server Jordyn who look after us in 1/2 the time as the other server.
