Sometimes, simple diners gain a reputation for being hip brunch spots and sometimes those simple diners ARE actually hip brunch spots. But sometimes, simple diners are just simple diners, despite what the arbiters of "hip" may say. Our Spot is the latter. Simple. Good. Affordable. This is a complement. It is not "hip". It is too, um, simple for that, and thankfully so. "Hip" spots are overpriced. Our Spot isn't. When. Was the last time you saw grilled cheese on a menu for under $6? In fact, when was the last time you saw anything on a menu for under $6? "Hip" spots are pretentious, serving eggs with attitude. Our Spot isn't. Eggs are just eggs. Whatd'ya expect? Good food. Good service. Good diner. Simple.

Last Wednesday, I took the day off from work to get my snow tires installed on my car and pick up an order on the Danforth. Before picking up my order, I knew that I needed lunch soon. I pulled out my Ritual app and looked at what was round me. Our Spot came up. I turned my head to the left and it was staring right at me. What attracted me to place an order from this eatery? Grilled cheese. When I see more than one type of grilled cheese on the menu, it is a sign that this place not only knows what it's doing, but it's my initial gauge that it's good. I went with the grilled cheese with Philly cheesesteak. Another item that piqued my curiosity was gyros hash. Would that be with potatoes? How does that work? I ordered it. Being on the Danforth, I needed some Greek food, so I got some dolmades. I also got a Diet Coke to wash everything down. Ritual said that my order would be ready in fifteen minutes. Perfect! It was plenty of time to pick up my order at another store and browse around for a bit. I gave it an extra five minutes before I jaywalked across the street. One Spot is a breakfast-brunch eatery. It closes at 2 pm every day, so I lucked out. Right place. Right time. Just right! There is patio seating outside. I have been fortunate the last couple of times to have taken vacation days when it's unusually warm outside. On this day, it was 17C on Remembrance Day. There were many folks enjoying their food outside. I walked in and a friendly woman said that she'd be with me soon. She was serving food and also taking orders. When she was ready, I said my name and she immediately knew that my order was with Ritual. She advised that it needed an extra five minutes. I was fine, as I had paid for 45 minutes for street parking and I basically had the day to do whatever. I sat there and waited. The padded bench is comfy! One older female customer was walking back to her table outside after having used the women's washroom and asked the server what her name was. This customer was genuinely pleased with the food and service, and said so. So nice! A male customer walked in and was clearly a regular. He ordered three salads. The server was surprised, as he normally does two salads. I like how friendly and familiar things feel here. I was only here for a brief period, but it felt comfortable. My order was finally ready. The server handed it to me with both hands. I thanked her and headed into my car. Instead of finding a park or a parking lot, I ate in my car, on the Danforth. It was a first for me. My rating would have been five stars. Sadly, I can't do it. Why? I didn't get my Diet Coke. I had a venti iced peach green tea in my car, so that helped me wash everything down. For the first time, I had to ask Ritual how missing order items are handled. I got credited for it, which was nice. All was fine. I tore into my grilled cheese sandwich with Philly cheesesteak. OMG! It is one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches that I have ever had. The bread was crunchy, buttery good. It had the perfect thickness. It had all the goodness of a real Philly cheesesteak, with green bell peppers, onions, and thinly shaved beef, that were all melty with the cheese. I had fun doing a cheese pull and enjoying every bite. It was excellent! I definitely ordered more food than I could stomach. The grilled cheese was a generous size that I was practically full with that alone. I did manage to eat all the gyros hash. What is it? It's sliced lamb used in a gyros. It's sliced in strips and fried. You get tzatziki to dip the strips in. So creative! First, gyros hash is pretty keto-friendly. When I think of hash, I think potatoes, but I was so wrong here. It works well! Second, it's a perfectly good on-the-good snack. Dip, eat, and repeat until all strips are gone. Delicious! I was so stuffed that I had a single dolma and had the remaining dolmades the following day. I really got into Greek food when I moved to Winnipeg. I missed Greek food in Toronto so much that I overcompensated in Winnipeg. I discovered that I loved dolmades and I still do. The dolma was colder than I had expected, but it was delicious. The dolmades are small, but they pack a nice, subtle lemony taste. The rice inside was done perfectly and the grape leaves were tender and so good. Yum! I cannot wait to come back and eat the other five varieties of grilled cheese. The pulled pork and Greek versions sound wonderful. This place also has an extensive assortment of benedicts. I counted eleven different varieties. Yes, there's a grilled cheese benny. And, yes, if I see such variety, I know that this place does eggs benedict well, too. (417)

A pretty good diner with a homey feel and nice greasy diner food as you'd expect. Staff are friendly and food is very reasonably priced with pretty good portions. Massive menu that ranges from breakfast items to sandwiches, and even Greek food (owners are Greek apparently?) Definitely recommend for a nice low-key breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even dinner and when you're looking for a good no-frills meal that won't break the bank. I had the D-angelo BLT on rye and the 6 thick cut strips of bacon were crispy and flavourful! It was really good. Home fries were sort of griddle fried potatoes (not deep fried) and Greek salad was pretty good. Friend had the big breakfast and it looked really good too.

Added updated pictures We went back again today for brunch. Still wonderful. The owners are so friendly and actually chatted with us for a bit. The food is fantastic. Lots of different choices for breakfast and lunch. Please note they're not open at dinner time. But if you're looking for eggs Benedict in all kinds of shapes and sizes or just regular breakfast, great sandwiches omelettes etc. this is a place to come. We sat outside again it was a beautiful day. There is inside dining as well. This is a great local spot to hang out and have a breakfast/brunch. Enjoy!

Our favorite brunch spot in the East End! They're dine area is not that big so there's always a line up, but honestly it's worth the wait. The food is amazing, they offer a fusion greek and western cuisine. I always order the feta and spinach omelette! It's my absolute fav! I highly recommend upgrading your meal with the Greek home fries (sooo yummy). My boyfriend loves their eggs and steak. I've also tried their egg bennys and it's good too! We usually go here every Sunday brunch.

I stopped by in a recent visit to Toronto when it made more sense to wait for my wife than to drive back and forth from our hotel in Mississauga amidst... hey did you know that (unscientific as this may be) traffic may actually be worst on weekends than during the week? Reason is that, while many folks commute using public transit, car owners drive to their destinations on weekends. This is a small, sun-shiny kind of space, with Wifi. The front part, especially, is a good place to bask in the rays. They seem to offer a few food choices for breakfast and lunch, but since I was just looking for a place to hang out for 90 minutes, I was going to be "minimal patron". I thought about another coffee, but decided against it, since I already had double the caffeine I usually consume before noon, I opted for the "cheapest" choice, in the form of a Perrier. Cha-ching and "ouch" and $3.74 later (OK it's CAD, but still), I'm left wondering whether I could have made a better choice: as in, a cookie and that bottle of water I had with me?

There are a number of tables to enjoy your treats and beverages as well as wifi if you'd like to get some work done. The café uses Pilot Coffee beans as well. I stopped by Paper Route Café on a Monday late morning to grab a cortado. I also ordered a banana coconut oat muffin. The coffee shop only had a few customers and service was friendly where my coffee was made at a reasonable time. I sat down to enjoy my coffee as well as enjoy the space. As the sunlight filtered through the big windows at the front, the brightness of the café filled me with happiness. Such a cute wonderful place to spend some time alone, with friends, or with family. I ate the muffin later in the day for snack and it was moist and delicious with hints of coconut that didn't overpower the other flavours of the muffin. Overall, a great new addition to the neighbourhood! Definitely will become a new favourite among the locals for sure.

Parking can be a bit busy but usually okay. The service both times has been patient and kind to explain the various options. We decided to go with a milk cake with half lotus and half Dubai chocolate. The cake is soaking in milk which gives it a "wet cake" texture. I imagine it may not be everyone's favorite texture but has decent flavor. The crunchy topping contrasts against the soft, moist cake. The lotus has that nice cookie flavor and crunch while the Dubai chocolate with pistachio offers that chocolate and nutty flavor. I prefer the latter but both are good. We also got a matcha strawberry latte to go. Both really nice to look at and to drink. The matcha has good flavor without being overly bitter while the strawberry provides that fruity sweetness to the drink. Overall, it's a pricier experience but I enjoyed it and will be back.

It's the food that was just meh. Stopped by for lunch and got: - Korean Pancakes: Prepackaged, it still was pretty good (i.e., didn't just taste reheated). The dipping sauce accentuated the sweetness of the pancakes. - Bulgogi Bibimbap: Bulgogi was really bland and a tad dry, so had to put a lot of gochujang on the bibimbap. - Bulgogi Japchae: Agaìn, band and dry bulgogi. The japchae was good - soft and sweet. Also, generous serving that is shareable. - Mango Banana Smoothie: A bit lumpy, and more mango than banana. But great for a hot summer day. Maybe it's the bakery stuff we should have tried, because everyone is raving about this place. The meals were just ok.

A medium-sized side order of kimchi 2. Korean pancake 3. Bulgogi bibimbap 4. Bulgogi japchae 5. Bagel with bacon, egg, lettuce, and tomato And of course, 6. A small matcha latte. I thought that the medium was a pretty good portion of kimchi. Probably enough for 3-4 people to share it as a side dish. The korean pancake was very yummy, especially when paired with the dipping sauce. I liked that both the bibimbap and japchae had a good amount of veggies. I found the bulgogi just a tiny bit dry. The bagel was panini pressed which was nice but it did toast up the lettuce which wilted it. The rest of the toppings were really good. The one thing I really didn't care for was the matcha latte. It was so sweet I didn't think I'd be able to finish it. The other thing is that it hardly tasted of matcha. The latte itself was pretty much white. That kind of told me that it wasn't mixed well and just didn't have any matcha in it. I'd skip this on my next UberEats order.
