We surveyed pool owners in our community and almost every one had Quality Custom Pools build their pools. These owners had nothing but praise for Jim Barrett's integrity and professionalism and the final result. We talked to other pool companies but Jim was hands down more knowledgeable and more credible and we were impressed with his business model. We had an idea of all we wanted to do with our backyard leading down to the lakeshore and Jim came back with great renderings and a detailed process. We wanted the pool and spa, tiki bar and entertainment areas to be completed by June and even though weather caused a month delay in starting, they still delivered ahead of time. I can't speak highly enough about the caliber of their people - every one that worked on our project was top notch and their work reflected it. We threw in a few extras, like creating a California room under our back deck and house, and a larger firepit entertainment area. Next, we added concrete decking and stairs on both sides of the house plus a beautiful courtyard and front yard wall. Lastly, we added extra wiring, plumbing and even pillar construction to finish the look and add utility. As the pool was getting ready for plaster, Jim climbed down in the shell and felt that the steps would be too tall and the swim-up bar stools too high off of the bottom. So, he added extra steps in a beautiful curving design and a ledge under the bar stools. Brilliant! Not only did Quality Custom Pools finish the entire project on time, the result is stellar and gets wonderful comments from our friends and neighbors. This is the third house that we've had pools built for and this is absolutely the best of all of them. It is true that you get what you pay for and we are grateful to Jim and his company for making every penny worth it. Plus, two months of free pool service and a pool school at the end was a nice touch that ensured we would have years of enjoyment from our investment. We would have given ten stars but Yelp only allows five.

5 stars is not enough for Jim and the incredible team at Quality Custom Pools. My wife and I made the decision to have a small spa with a waterfall built and began getting quotes from some local companies. Jim was our 3rd quote, and we canceled our appointment for a 4th quote as we realized we found our guy. From the moment Jim arrived to give us an estimate my wife and I felt very comfortable, he listened carefully to what we wanted and asked us some questions to really get a feel for what we wanted. After our first meeting, just as he was pulling out of our driveway, my wife and I looked at each other and at the same time both said "thats our guy". We got the quote from them in a timely manner and it was right in line with the others that we had received. Jim said what set him apart from his competitors is the quality of the work, and said his crews were the best. He was right. I have been in construction my whole life, so I know the difference between a skilled craftsman and an average construction worker. I was on site during most of the build, and had many conversations with all the different crews, most had worked for Quality for at least 12 years, some for much longer. Every team that showed up to do their part were friendly, knowledgeable, and very good at what they did. Jim kept close tabs on the project the entire time and kept in daily communication with us so we always knew what was happening now and what to expect next as well. Added a few changes/upgrades along they way and they were all taken care of quickly. All parts used during every phase of construction were top notch, absolutely no corners were cut...in fact, almost everything was overbuilt and very cleanly installed. We could not be happier, thanks to Jim and the team for our beautiful resort style spa!

Building a pool is a big decision and because of the cost involved it's important to pick the right contractor. After obtaining 5 quotes from different companies, we decided to go with Jim Barrett from Quality Custom Pools Inc. in Menifee. Quality Custom Pools had the best overall price and we really liked the fact that instead of sending a salesman out, Jim, the owner personally came out to talk with my wife and I about what we wanted. While other companies tried to charge extra for LED lights and the required safety equipment, Jim was the only contractor who included that in his initial price and still came in below the other bids. Jim created a beautiful design of what we wanted with our pool, spa, and fire-pit and even added some of his own ideas to enhance our backyard which we really liked. After giving Jim the go ahead he came by with the contract and explained every item in it and answered all of our questions. We live in an HOA and Jim also provided what we needed to submit the project to the HOA for approval. There were no hidden costs and in the end what we were quoted in the contract is what we paid. We added two changes to the project which changed the price after the contract was signed and Jim worked with us to add them in with no delays. One was a concrete curb and the other was a wifi system which I highly recommend so you can run all of your pool equipment and lights from your phone. Once the permits were approved and the HOA signed off on the project Jim gave us a start date. Jim has his own equipment and was able to get a smaller bobcat through the side of my house without having to remove my wall. From the first crew with Greg and Jeff that did the excavation to the last crew that did the pebble-tec everything went great. All of Jims crews are personable and professional and answered any questions or concerns I had. They cleaned as they went and power washed when they were done. Jim stopped by during and after each phase to check on the work and I received constant communication by e-mail from his office on what to expect next and when the next phase would start. Jim answered all my texts and calls in a timely manner when I had a question, and made sure we were happy with each phase of the project. Once the project was done we received our 2 months of free pool service and pool school included in the contract with Tony from Neptune's Pool and Spa. Tony did a great job servicing our pool and after pool school I feel pretty knowledgeable about how all the equipment works and what to add to the pool to keep it looking good. We couldn't be happier with our pool, spa, and fire-pit and I highly recommend Jim Barrett and Quality Custom Pools Inc. in Menifee to do the job. Jeff B

We had our hardscape in our backyard done by Quality Custom Pools. Everything turned out beautiful from the alumawood patio cover to the bbq island with sink and drink fridge to the DG and artificial turf! The built-in fire pit has brought us many cozy evenings. The price was very reasonable and the workers were great! Even a year later our backyard still looks fantastic!

This is going to be a very thorough review. We first reached out Quality Custom Pools in October 2019 when we were getting pools quotes. After interviewing 7 different pool companies, we decided to hire Quality Custom in February 2019 to build our linear pool, spa, and add concrete to the front and back yards. We ultimately went with Quality Custom, because Jim is honest when I asked him about his company - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Because he was so forthcoming with the pool experience, pricing, and our responsibilities as the pool owner, we went with Quality Custom. I also liked that the company is local (in Menifee), and whenever I contacted Jim or the office, I got a response. Responsiveness is very important to me. Lastly, his crews are in-house, so he can manage quality control much better. The only crew that was not in-house was concrete. Quality Custom started the project in March 2019. The dig crew was exceptional. It rained for 3 weeks in March, which made the ground slush, so after waiting for it to dry, the crew picked right back up and completed the dig. The 3 gentlemen who made up the dig crew were polite, kind, and worked quickly. We picked out our pool options at SCP - Tyler was very helpful. The rebar crew was made up of several professionals, also polite, kind, and worked quickly. Jim referred us to someone who moved both of our ACs, including electrical - a blessing. The electrical and plumbing crew was made up of about 3 gentlemen - also polite, kind, and worked quickly. Our soft water system hose was accidentally cut a couple times, which the plumbing crew replaced. The shotcrete crew was made up of many professionals - also worked quickly. Heads up - if it bothers you, you will be doing minor clean up after each crew. Trash, water bottles, and food wrappers were left in the yard. While I wanted this to be cleaned, the professionals work tirelessly, and I took it upon myself to pick up their water bottles, trash, etc at the end of each day. The tile/stone/masonry crew was less satisfactory. It was made up of 3-4 professionals who took 1.5 - 2 hour breaks. The tile job took 2-3 more time than it should have, as several mistakes were made when cutting the limestone, and as I said, they took very long breaks. Their work was good - I noticed several stones that seem to stick out a little too much, but in general, it looks very nice. All crews were in-house except for concrete. The crew did beautiful prep work and on the day of the job, did a beautiful job. However, we left for the day (don't do this - stay put), and when we returned, I noticed that the crew of 6-7 professionals was huddled in front of the garage, around the porta potty. They scurried off as we got out of the van. There was trash, chicken bones, seeds, etc all over the concrete. The concrete had been stained with alcohol, and the bottom of the porta potty was filled with alcohol. It was disappointing and gross. I informed Jim, and he had the crew out the next day to clean. The plaster crew worked very quickly, but they left blue pebble plaster on the tiles, especially in the corners. Someone came at the end of the job to try to remove it. By then, we had scrubbed most of it off. Once the pool was complete, we met Tony with Neptune Pools who helped us to understand how to take care of the pool. He taught us during Pool School. We had several issues with our Pentair Intellichem upgrade (gets turned on 5 weeks after pool completion) - the screen was out and needed to be replaced, wasn't working properly due to improper installation, etc. Jason, Tony, and Jim troubleshooted and it is now working. Tony was the most influential in helping us to understand how to care for the pool, as our goal is to maintain it ourselves. We had a few change orders to the concrete - Jim made the changes quickly, and the ladies at the office emailed change orders speedily. Throughout the process, the superintendent, Jason, stopped by several times to pick up the checks and check on the work. When the pool was complete, Jim came by with the manual and a gift bag with towels - that was nice. With a big project such as this one, there are going to be highs and lows. Ask lots of questions and advocate for your concerns. Also, share good news about crews, not just complaints. If I had to do it all over again, I would hire Quality Custom again. Jim Barrett, the crews, the office staff, Jason, and Tony are THE BEST. :) May God continue to bless Quality Custom with safety and prosperity.

I can think of a million reasons why quality custom is the best around. They have built two pools for my husband and myself. Both pools were phenomenally well made, meticulously designed, and beautiful. Jim and his team have it down. They communicate, they answer your questions, if something isn't perfect they will make it right. We love our pool. Their prices are also one of the best around when we got quotes.

We visited Jim and thought he had good reviews so we thought we would give him a shot. We looked at a few other pools he had done and thought we were in good hands, however- At the time Jim built our pool in 2016, he had multiple other builds going on in the neighborhood. He was distracted and handed off our pool to another forman and we barely saw him through the construction of our pool. The first problem came with his failure to remember what we requested and failure to look at his own contract. We wanted our spa elevated so people could sit around the edge like it was a bench, but the day the guys came to put in the shotcrete we noticed the spa was not elevated. We told them they were going to have to fix it and this resulted in an argument and a scrambled change to the framing and plumbing of the spa. Instead of delaying the shockcrete to provide the time needed to make the repair it was rushed and the concrete got hot and dry so when it was used to form the base of our pool it was very hard for the workers to work with and quite lumpy. It seemed to have too much rock in it and I had to wonder if it would leak. Steps were also added next to our baja bench which we had not requested, this took up all the shallow area in our pool leaving only the baja bench for the little kids to play on. Just after the contract was drawn we were told to go to the tile store and pick out tile immediately so that it would not be a problem if it was back ordered. We picked out a tile within our contract limit and were satisfied with our choice. Jim forgot to order it and then went to pick up a second choice and expected us to be fine with paying a $2700 difference in price. We wanted our first choice. We never asked for the second one, and if Jim's team had been paying attention they would have ordered a month before it was needed. as it was we didn't end up paying the difference, but the tile has mold behind it because Jim's team did not know how to install the glass tile that does not have the netting on the back like our original tile had. So, eventually this will have to be replaced. The next problem was with the rock waterfall structure that was elevated from the ground and the curve eliminated the ability to put in the fire pit that was originally planned. This had to be changed and a bench added to shore up the waterfall structure, and an oval fire pit had to replace the round one. This meant no reclining style chairs, for marshmallow roasting etc. Then came the day for the plaster. We just wanted smooth white plaster for a soft aqua colored water. The plaster ended up having a metal particulate in it. This caused rust stains in the pool through out the pool. the plaster near the waterfall is so lumpy and pitted do to the hot shotcrete pour that the pool always looks dirty. We have rebar pops and rust stains in the plaster. one of the holes is about 5 inches now. Our spa leaks, and has a soft spot in the bottom. The rocks on the overflow leak through to the pool. We asked Jim to fix these things and he tried to blame it on the start up. We paid his guys to clean and start up the pool, and we had another pool guy coming to clean it. Eventually we took Jim before the contractors license board. We one this but it was a bad idea to go about it this way. To spite having three estimates to fix the pool over $18,000.00, the arbitrator agreed that the work was inferior. They agreed that Jim was responsible, but they went with Jim's estimate of what it would cost him to repair the pool with Barron's plaster services, verses the written estimate from the same company. It showed right on the estimate sheet that if the pool was our pools size, it requires them to come and look at it and provide their own estimate. Still the arbitrator ignored that and only awarded us a little over 6K to fix over 18K worth of damage. We also have had three cracked LED lights one within a few months of building the pool. We never received the pool cleaner that was promised in our contract. The floor cleaning system was a waste of money. The heads continuously blow off or get stuck. I didn't have a picture of the large rust stain to add for you. It is a rebar pop on the side step. New pools can be wonderful, and you can have a good experience. I have a pool that is over 20 years old at another home and it is in far better shape than this one. If you are looking at building a pool with Jim, I suggest you find out how many he is currently working on. If he is busy at the time your pool won't get the attention it deserves. His contracts have a lesser warranty then the contractors license board requires. He does not stand behind his warranty. His bids are a moving target, and he will not finish all the work promised at the rate that he promised it. We had originally planned on a courtyard, a patio cover and a garden room, and the pool over runs took up the money for all of it.

After meeting with 6 other pool companies, we decided to go with Quality Custom Pools. Jim listened to what we wanted and delivered it beautifully! Everyone we dealt with were very friendly and professional. We really appreciated that they always did their best to stay on the timeline that they quoted us. We had a couple issues during construction, but they were there to correct it and see it through. We are very happy with our gas fire pit, pool, jacuzzi, deck and planter. We've already have recommended them to several friends and family!!

You are in great hands with Jim + the QCP Team! We were very confident in our decision as he had previously done 3 of my family's pools and one of my best friends (bonus - he is our neighbor as well!!). From our initial call, his office staff was responsive and kept us informed of the entire construction process with daily emails (we love you Celina!). Jim is personable, professional, knowledgeable, dependable, responsive and consistent!!!! He took my cocktail napkin pool sketch and turned it into our dream come true! Educated us on the entire process, contract, etc. Another bonus, his team! All very polite and kept the yard orderly as much as you can in a construction site. His team nailed the timeline and construction was completed on-time even with the rain delays (it's like he knew LOL! ) QCP product and services are of outstanding value. He truly makes you feel like family and that you are his most favorite project (haha!). We miss him and his team already!!!

I had a few friends from work that had a pool built by Jim Barret at quality custom pools about 10 years ago and had nothing but good things to say about him and the pools. I called Jim out to go give me an estimate. I am a pretty good judge of character and got a good vibe from Jim from the start. He seemed very trust worthy and no bull shit. Even though I had a good feeling I still wanted to get some other bids just to ease any concerns being this was a huge project for me. I got 2 other bids and contacted a buildyourownpool company. One guy " Dustin Phillips pools" came out. I showed him what I wanted and he never called me back to give me a quote. The Build your own pool company was only going to be 5k less and I had to do the leg work with no warranty. Lol plus I was way to busy to be there and schedule permits. All I wanted was a basic pool for my family and I to get wet. Jim drew me up a design and it was perfect for me. More then I expected for the $$. I didn't make one change to it. I signed the contract and they started digging 3 days later on 4/15. The whole entire project went unbelievably smooth. Jim's employees were very respectful and hard working guys. The guys cleaned up and made sure the place looked good before they left everyday. NEVER trash laying around. It took about 6 weeks from start to finish and that's because of Jim's diligence. For an example, on one of the permits, the inspectors for the city could not get into the back yard for some reason ( my 5 year old son can get in the back yard, not the brightest inspectors in Wildomar Ca) They left a note on the door to reschedule. Jim had them back out the same day to ( hold his hand ) and get the permit done. At the end of the project I really couldn't believe how they made any money. The guys were there everyday and the amount of work that goes into a pool is insane. But it was executed and scheduled perfectly. After the project was done, I had a pool service for 8 weeks and a pool school at the end of the 8 weeks. No I wasn't left to fend for myself with chemicals and figuring out how to maintain it on my own like other companies. I was going to get a pool guy but they showed me exactly what to do and it doesn't take much to maintain a pool. Plus I have no problem calling Jim with any questions. I actually had a question on my PH the other day so he came out to take a look 3 months later. One of the biggest things I loved about this company was the communication. I literally got an email everyday on exactly what was going to be done the next day. It was seriously awesome. My family and I have been in this pool everyday since it has been completed. A lot of times ill just go in the backyard and stare at the beauty of the entire back yard. The pool really came out way better then I could imagine. I recommend this company 100%%%% to anyone. Your office was on notice November 29, 2017 at 8:33 PM via email which stated in part: "There has and remains discoloration in the plaster of the bottom of the pool along with some ruff areas." Therefore I did not wait 10 months before bringing this to your attention. I was also not aware that the tool did not work. Your plaster guy appears to need an eye doctor, because the plaster discoloration looks like spilled milk. I was also not aware that current clients were a priority with respect to keeping appointments with perspective customers. I know I have not been a priority for over a year now. Communication goes a long way, and could have certainly gained you more time with a reasonable explanation or plan to address these matters. We still hold out hope that you can pull things together, but this has been over a year now so it doesn't look good. read more

We have been very happy with Quality Custom Pools! The price was right, but more importantly, the work was. They made the process easy. All of the little details, they just took care of. We built our pool over the holidays and they sent someone out to do a clean up the day before Christmas Eve because I told them I was hosting Christmas and my patio was a mess from the construction. They really listened to what the vision for our pool was, and hit the nail on the head! Communication was on point and at the end of the process, when we had a few items that needed addressing, they were on it and completed them all. We were even refunded hassle free when an upgrade we paid for was left out accidentally. My husband and I are incredibly happy with our project! We had a pretty elaborate outdoor living room with fire place and pool built. The project lasted about six months due to a permit issue with the City of Menifee (completely out of Quality Custom's hands). Jim was always accessible to us for questions / concerns. His employees are very professional, prompt, and worked the ENTIRE 10 hours they were at the house. I was very happy each day when the employees left, they cleaned the entire work site and maintained their equipment neatly. We had some special requests to make our project more "ours": adding custom tiles to our fire place and pool structure, etc... Quality Custom knocked it out of the park and never said anything to the effect of "We can't do that." In fact, Jim was so interested in our project and making it more for us that he made suggestions we ended up putting into use with our project: stair riser tiles that match the pool tile among others. He was very patient with us as we selected our coping and tile- I'm someone that needs to mull over design decisions... We've never built a pool before. Jim treated us like family- making suggestions that would make our life with a pool more simple and easy. I know he's a business guy, but I never got the feeling he was purely trying to turn a nice profit on us. The price for our project was extremely reasonable. We got the traditional three bids, and for the amount of extras and outdoor living room construction, Quality Custom was by far the best. One major selling point in the beginning (aside from price) was the fact that Quality Custom does NOT subcontract!! SO INCREDIBLY NICE to not have to "talk to the patio cover guy about that"! Every one of my neighbors has asked for a card. I took a stack from Jim and hand them out every chance I get. This is a company that earned our business for life! Hands down the best company we have ever encountered. We interviewed the top 5 pool builders in the Murrieta and Temecula area, all of which were excellent and had incredibly good yelp and web reviews. All five of them were top notch and you could not go wrong with any of them. However, Jim Barrett and the staff at Quality Custom Pools stood out on top due to his personality, easy going nature and honesty. He gave us options that we never considered, came up with ways to save us money and is genuinely a very nice, caring person who obviously cares a lot about his craft, reputation and integrity. He personally was always the one to interact with us. He returned emails, texts and calls very quickly and came out for last minute meetings at night and on weekends to accommodate our schedule. He always kept us well informed and his price was competitive with the others. When we did on occasion have to talk with his full time office staff, we found them informed and professional. Our pool experience has been incredibly positive with nothing negative and our finished product exceeds our expectations. Every person who has entered our back yard since we had the pool built has raved about the finished product and declared they have never seen anything so beautiful. It has become our resort and we have never been happier with the outcome. Words don't exist to fully describe the positive experience we have with this company. Not just another customer!! Jim and Quality custom pools, built our pool about 2yrs ago. Our build was not a crazy over the top project, but we were made to feel that our pool was going to be the best thing they had ever built. The build process was exceptional, and his team were the most professional contractors I have ever worked with. Simple things, like cleaning up at the end of the day, and keeping us informed on what would be happening next, and being courteous of my wife and young children who were at home while they were building. Pool was completed in time, with no extra money outside of what was discussed. I could not be happier. 2yrs later Jim, and his team are still making us feel like we are a priority and important. Something as simple as a defective LED light (no fault of Jims, manufacture defect), to asking questions about pool chemistry. Jim and the staff are always available to help out, and fix any problem big or little. Jim is the kind of guy you hope to see 2yrs later eating dinner at Red Robin, and know you can say hello and he will remember you and ask you how your doing and if there is anything he can do. I was referred to Quality Custom Pools from a friend who used their services and build their backyard pool. I called on August 30 to make an appointment for an estimate it took 3 weeks to get an appointment which was fine. Once Jim came over to take a look at our backyard and give us some ideas on what we can do and add to maximize our backyard space. He was very professional and sounded like he was very experienced and went over all the expenses. He told my husband and I that it would take 2 weeks to get us an estimate. We even picked the type of stone and specific features we were wanting in our new pool. I waited 1 month before emailing Quality Custom Pools for that estimate because we were not in a rush to start building right away but wanted to figure out the cost, start saving and start the beginning of the year to have it ready for summer. I also called several times to find out when he would be sending the estimate and no one could tell me how long that would take. That was October 2017 and I am still waiting, still no response, no call, and no estimate. I guess they don't want my business! Will not be recommending this company. read more

Jim and the Quality Custom Pools team came highly recommended from several friends of mine. I had the opportunity to see Jim's work firsthand at a friend's house; he was able to turn their backyard into the ultimate entertaining space. When it came time for my wife and I to have a pool installed, there was no question who we were going to call. After the highly professional consultation/presentation that Jim provided us with, we were ready to begin the "pool" building process. My wife and I had very little experience with pools or pool designs. We uttered a few incoherent design ideas to Jim, and somehow he was able to translate those into an absolutely amazing pool design. He provided us with a three dimensional computer design that allowed us to see exactly what the finished product was going to look like. I can tell you that the design matches the end product flawlessly. Jim and his staff are true professionals. Thank you to Jim and the entire team at Quality Custom Pools for helping our family's dream pool become a reality we hope to enjoy for many years. We had a vision of what we wanted and just needed to find someone that we felt comfortable with and could trust with our project. As with most people looking to build, we spoke to more than a fair share of pool companies trying to find the right person. We were referred to Jim from friends. Jim was by far, and it wasn't even close, the most detailed, organized and thorough person we spoke to. He clearly listened to what we wanted in our initial meeting and came back with a design that hit on everything we talked about. For us, it was easy for us to make a difficult decision and Quality Custom Pools was clearly the best company for our project. Jim's experience shows and if you speak to him and do your own research with other companies I am sure you will agree you are getting a higher level of service and experience with Jim. I also want to thank all of the members of his different crews for each phase of our project. They work hard, do amazing work, and care about the quality of work they do. They really are a great group of people. Of course, there is stress and concern involved with pool projects and things may take longer than expected so patience is recommended but in the end, things get done correctly and you get the quality you expect. We were looking to get our front yard redone last summer due to the drought. After interviewing 7 contractors we decided to go with Quality Custom Pools to get pavers, turf and river rock installed. From reading the reviews on Yelp I understood I might need to be persistent when trying to reach Jim as he gets busy. While the communications were sometimes delayed, as soon as I mentioned a hard deadline to complete the job Jim found a way to do it. We are very pleased with the quality of work as well as the professionalism of the team to get the job done. The work was completed around Thanksgiving 2015. Afterwards we added the plants in the rock to finish the look we wanted. read more

Quality Custom Pools designed and installed my beautiful pool, second story deck and all new hardscape in 2004. The job was amazing but what I have grown to appreciate even more than my first experience with the company is the customer service AFTER the installation was complete. For the last 14 years the support I have received in maintaining this beautiful pool has truely been second to none. I absolutely hate writing bad reviews but if anyone deserves it it's Quality Custom Pools. We purchased a house with a pool in Winchester in April of 2013. During the purchase process we learned that the pool had just been re-plastered by Quality Custom Pools in February due to a leak so we assumed the pool should be fine for several years to come... we were WRONG! Our first Summer here and right away we noticed telltale signs of a pool leak. We contacted Quality Custom Pools since they re-plastered the pool just two months before we bought the house. We also contacted our insurance company to find out if the leak was warranty, insurance or neither. I could go on for pages about how unresponsive and incompetent Quality Custom Pools has been to deal with but I will not subject you to every excuse we have been given and every out and out lie we have been told. Suffice it to say that we first contacted them in early August. It is now early October and we are STILL waiting for an estimate for repairs on the pool leak and/or warranty repairs for our spa leaks. Quality Custom Pools had no problem taking $6,200 in February, 2013 from the previous homeowner to repair leaks and re-plaster, and then $85 from us to come out and look at the pool (it took them over 2 weeks just to get them out). They promised to put our $85 toward the repairs that we have yet to see an estimate for! In addition, the company our insurer sent out discovered additional cracks in the plaster in the spa - the spa that was just re-plastered - now that was most certainly warranty work but NO response from Quality Custom Pools (what a shock). We have called and emailed well over 20 times and been given one untruthful story after another. This company is horrendous!!! I attempted to get a hold of the owner 2 weeks ago to implore him to please honor his company's warranty and make the repairs but surprise, surprise - no call back! Last week, I went on to their website and posted a message to the owner demanding a response - no response! I highly recommend NOT hiring this company. I have never dealt with a company that so blatantly ignores its customers after they have your money in their pocket. Please read the filtered reviews on this company. You will see that being nonresponsive is the norm for them. Unfortunately, my next step is to take legal action to get them to honor their warranty for their sloppy workmanship. This will be time consuming but I plan to hold this company accountable. If I could give them minus 10 stars I would! Please save yourself the trouble you will experience with this company and hire one of the other reputable companies in the area. We found Robert Alderete of 20th Century Pools to be honest, reliable and communicative. He came out personally (when he said he would) and provided a written estimate of repairs within a few days (just like he said he would). He even took the time to call and email our insurance agent and he DIDN'T charge us $85 to do it. Shame on the owner and staff of Quality Custom Pools!! read more

I am in the process of getting bids to install a new pool. I called on Quality Custom Pools for a consultation and quote. Although they sent out a very professional DVD, and the office staff was very nice, and the owner Jim was nice when he finally made it out, but unfortunately he was very unprofessional and unreliable. First he cancelled and rescheduled our original meeting, which I could understand. Then, he cancelled our second meeting where we were supposed to go over design and cost, so I asked him to send over the proposal. He just sent the a word document with prices, no design, and he was one of the most expensive. Finally, he called asking to still be considered and said he would draw up a design and meet with me to go over pricing. So I gave him another shot, just to be disappointed. 30 min past our appointment time, he doesn't even have the decency to call me, he text me saying he forgot and got busy so didn't finish the design. Very disappointed. I could not and would not recommend them. Maybe they are better once they start, but their pricing is high and initial service leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Jim came out and did the measurement on my backyard on April 4.2017 and told me that I will get a call from him regarding my estimate within 2 weeks and I gave him 3 weeks before I called them back about my estimate and still he hasn't done a thing ,they said its their busiest time of the year.I sent them an e mail just to follow up and Celina told me that she will get back at me and she never did.I think they should have at least call me or not to come out on for first place if they are really serious about it. read more

We had our pool built by Quality Custom Pools 2 1/2 years ago. We had multiple companies give us estimates but once we met Jim, we knew he was the one we wanted to build our pool. He was the most professional and the most informative out of all the other companies! Not only that, but his design was amazing (all done digitally not just the blue prints), we could actually see what our pool would really look like in our backyard. Also, he was able to give us the best quote! Jim and Jason are wonderful...We can't speak highly enough about them. They very professional, reliable and trustworthy during the build. So were all of his employees. They were all very courteous and didn't mind answering our questions. Even to this day, if we have any questions or concerns all we have to do is call Jim or Jason. They will either come out to our house, or just give us the advice we need over the phone! I know we can count on them no matter how many years pass. We highly recommend Quality Custom Pools. I would highly recommend Quality Custom Pools! I am in the process of designing the outdoor living area around my house and am doing it in stages. I knew I needed a dog run and a side access driveway for RV parking, however, I did not know what type of a pool I wanted. Jim Barrett came out and worked very closely with me to design what I wanted. Even though I am not ready to purchase a pool, Jim made me feel as if my small job was his most important job. Quality Custom Pools got all my electrical and gas lines run and permitted, before installing concrete that matched the existing color and design of my driveway. I cannot say enough good things about Jim and Quality Custom Pools. The work was done quickly, while not compromising quality. I had some very specific design ideas and Jim and his staff completed the job far beyond my expectations. In a world where quality and customer service is nonexistent, I am happy that a friend/co-worker referred Quality Custom Pools. Instead of saying how great this company is I will just tell you my first experience. A few years back my wife and I bought a home that already had an amazing pool put in. One of the main reasons we bought the home was the pool. About a year later we noticed a crack in the pebble tech that was getting rapidly worse. My first instinct was to call pool repair/construction companies based on their price as we did not have a lot to spend. As the quotes came in they ranged from 10k to 20k. This was too much. As a last ditch effort we looked up public records to see who built the pool. It was quality custom pools. I asked jim to come out to quote the repair. Jim looked at it for about 10 min and said "I'll be out in a few days to fix it". I asked how much it would cost. To that Jim said "nothing. This pool was only 4 years old and within the warranty". I was shocked as I did not personally buy the pool, he did not know who I was and did not even consider that maybe I caused the crack by mis use. He could tell it was a construction issue and stood behind his work. It is amazing that consumers are so jaded by poor service that this shocks anyone i share the story with. That is how business should be done. I cannot tell you how grateful I was that I called him. Since then I have referred Jim to anyone I know who is thinking about a pool. Don't make the mistake of going straight for the lowest bid. I personally know 3 people that went that route and all 3 have had nothing but issues with the construction, mechanics, and most importantly the company itself that refuses to fix issues without a big charge, they all in the end have paid much more that had they just gone to quality custom pools in the beginning. Jim and Quality Custom Pools recently completed our pool in November 2015. I took my time thinking of how I would put into words what Jim and his company built for my family. First I will start off with describing how I went about the process. As in any large scale project I got five bids for our pool. Some companies were able to come out right away and gave me a bid within a day. This was not the case with Jim. When I scheduled the appointment with Jim's office staff I was informed it would be two to three weeks before Jim would be available for a design appointment. At first I thought to myself, "Wow two to three weeks is a long time to wait just for a design I don't even know if I will like." But being that Jim had built a few pools for people I work with and the fact that most of the other pool companies I had dealt with so far were very disappointing, I decided to wait. This was the best decision I could have made. The office called the day before our appointment to ensure we were ready for Jim. Jim showed up on time, was very professional and spent over an hour with me, my wife and kids walking in our backyard and finding out who we were and what made us tick. Jim was attentive, never made us feel like we were taking too much of his time and was very realistic with us. Jim left the appointment and the first thing my wife and I said to each other was, "Wow, what a great guy. I hope we can afford him!" Now this is an important part. The other companies that gave us bids were either very unprofessional with a lower price, or extremely busy with a huge price tag. In fact one company told me they over bid my project, because they were so busy it had to be worth their time. In about 3 days Jim presented the design to me and my family and it was spot on with what we described. Jim took the time to listen to us and get to know us and he used that information to design a pool that we wanted. His bid was professional and outlined all the prices in a clear manner so that we knew exactly what we were paying for. Jim was not the cheapest price nor the most expensive but he understood us and was the perfect person for our project. We agreed to a purchase price and began the project a few days later. As in any major project, we hit some bumps along the way, such as demanding, rude, horrible neighbors and design additions (My fault of course), but Jim handled them with grace. I would bombard Jim with questions and concerns and Jim would take the time to listen to me and keep me calm. We finished our pool in 9 weeks (Two weeks ahead of schedule) and it was perfect. Jim never came to us for more money, or excuses why we could not have what we wanted. Jim and his crew delivered exactly as promised and then some. I have recommended Quality Custom Pools to four other of my friends who have all signed contracts with Jim and are underway as I write this review. I could go on and on about what a great guy Jim Barrett is and what a great company Quality Custom Pools is, but simply stated: When taking on a large project such as building a pool, a customer wants to feel attended to and that their money and home is safe in their contractor's hands and I cannot think of a better contractor then Jim Barrett and a better company then Quality Custom Pools. read more

We received about 5 quotes for our pool build and Jim at Quality stood out among all of them. He was professional,straightforward, listened to what we wanted and most importantly made us feel comfortable. I could tell we could trust him to do the job and to do it right. The whole build process was seamless and moved quickly. His construction crew was always on time, respectful and kept things as clean as possible. His office staff kept us updated with each new phase of the build and answered any questions we had. They even provided a couple months of pool service and a "pool school" to teach us about all the equipment. It's no wonder why two other houses in my neighborhood had also used him for their pools. At the end of each workday, the crew cleaned meticulously to ensure the work area was clear of dirt and debris. Alex and his crew were always respectful of our property. Since I'm being accused of defamation, here is more proof…read more In my opinion, This tree was planted too deep and there was too much mulch and bark completely covering the trunk and base of the tree that we had to remove, unfortunately, this suffocated the tree according to 2 local nurseries. It didn't help that you incorrectly set our sprinkler system. My dad asked for the front yard and back yard to be set the same amount of time in morning and late afternoon, you set it so that the back yard got the highest amount of water in the morning AND afternoon and the front yard got the lower amount of water in the morning and afternoon. No wonder the tree is almost dead. Now to address your accusation of racism: How about you ask your guys that were here when the front yard was being done how often I would speak Spanish with them every time I pulled up to my house? I asked them how to say a couple things and they taught me. I enjoyed having you guys around, including you (when you were there). My post was nothing personal. I took 3 years of Spanish in high school and I always make it a point to practice when I can so I don't forget words. I can also speak a tiny bit of Vietnamese (learned about 20 years ago), tiny bit of Chinese (Mandarin- still learning), a little French and a little German. I've lived in Southern California my entire life. You only met 3 white people at my house and my whole family is an extremely mixed bunch of 3 different races. It's awfully judgmental of you to label someone as racist simply because of their skin color. Telling someone they did something wrong isn't racist, just fyi. I understand your go to "racist" comment with the way the world is right now, but it was displaced towards the wrong people. In my opinion, and the opinion of other landscaping companies that came in to complete the job and saw your work, your company's work was poor. Bottom line. Nothing personal. Just business. You could have fixed the problems (because there are more than I posted) instead of ghosting us and ignoring the issues, but you didn't. It's normal for some people to lash out and personally attack someone when they have no rebuttal for non-personal criticism. However, it's poor business practice when a customer shares their opinion based on their experience (with pictures) and instead of merely apologizing, you dig a deeper hole. Best of luck!

I am also happy with how they routed my irrigation system. There are the occasional weeds growing through the weed guard, but I think that's inevitable. The bad: Most of the trees they planted ended up dying because they were planted incorrectly. All trees are on the same irrigation system that they routed, so they all received the same amount of water. 7/10 trees died. I pulled them out and saw that they didn't prepare the soil correctly and didn't spread the roots out after transplanting the trees. The ugly: The gate install was a complete disaster. They put the gate frame on backwards which cause the gate to have uncontrollable sagging. Also, the gate lock was put on backwards.

I ended up selecting a Duralum cover that his company also offers, and I'm glad I did. It's just the look I was going for. I was also impressed with Adam's business model, which is built on quality and efficiency at a very reasonable price without cutting corners or sacrificing customer service. Now for the best part: A guy named Brody, his lead installer. In addition to being a super nice guy, his work is meticulous. The back of my home isn't linear, so there are bump-outs and protrusions, making the installation more difficult and time consuming. This wasn't the slightest challenge for Brody and his team. The finished product is snuggled tightly against my stucco and professionally sealed on the roof to prevent any water dripping through when it rains. I watched him work, measuring and cutting the aluminum to match my home so the fit and finish is far greater than I imagined. As you can tell from the photos, I still have work to do (concrete coating, fence repairs, etc.) to match the beauty of my new cover.

The company stated that the waterproofing work was completed and documented. However, after that response was posted, new leaks continued to appear, including leaks in areas that had never leaked before. Additional damage occurred to my home, including hardwood flooring and interior finishes. The company also stated that it does not reinstall unsafe components. Yet I personally documented damaged and broken pillars being reused, and multiple workers told me they had objected to reusing them. Most importantly, the company has since involved its insurance carrier regarding the conditions and damages at my property. Their insurance consultant inspected my home on March 18, 2026. If the work was completed properly and there were no issues related to the project, I find it difficult to understand why an insurance claim was necessary in the first place. Since then, I have been repeatedly told to wait for the insurance process. Months have passed, no meaningful testing has been performed to determine the source of the continuing leaks, no repair plan has been provided, no leaking doors have been repaired or replaced, and the missing railings and pillars remain uninstalled. The most frustrating part is that my home is still left looking like an unfinished construction site while the company points to an ongoing insurance review as the reason for delay. I do not believe a homeowner should be expected to live with continuing damage and an incomplete project indefinitely while waiting for an insurance determination. I genuinely hoped this matter would be resolved after meetings with the company's ownership and licensing representative. Unfortunately, despite promises that things would move forward, very little has actually happened. I will continue to update this review as events unfold so that potential customers can make an informed decision.

We had a great Quality Custom pool building experience, and the result was a beautiful and extravagant pool. We started our pool-building experience by meeting with many different pool builders. Many of them were good choices, and some others would even do the job for less. When we met with Jim, there were many differences between what Quality Custom Pools would do versus what other pool builders would do. In our meetings with Jim, He was available to answer our questions and give us a greater understanding of his style of pool building and our choices in what we want. Also, he gave us the realities of what other customers end up doing when building a pool that could incur additional costs. We appreciate that. We started our pool-building experience with Quality Custom Pools in October of 2023. At every step of the way, Jim and the employees at Quality Custom Pools were very considerate, and many of his workers did excellent work and were open to a few questions I had each morning. In February of 2024, our pool was completed and we are currently enjoying every aspect of our pool. We recommend them with two thumbs up and 5+ stars. Last Friday I posted a review stating to never use QCP unless you want a company that will not fix their problems and be accountable. Jim did a re-plaster job for me in May and since that time I have had a severe leak. After doing his own test, Jim stated that the problem was not his to fix. I then had to hire American Leak Detection and they determined that the re-plaster work left a "plaster gap" around the spa light which is the cause of the leak. I contacted QCP again and asked them to make the repair. Jim replied back this morning (07/23/18) with a text message that read- "Good morning, I have no problem repairing the leak in the spa provided it is a plaster issue. But before I schedule the repair I respectfully request that you remove the Yelp review..." It's seems clear to me that Jim is still trying to weasel out of fixing his problem and is will not even schedule the work until I remove my negative review. I wonder how many other people he has done this to? Can't wait to hear Jim's response. read more

Quality Custom Pools was a referred to us through a work acquaintance who said, hands down, Jim and his crew were the best he'd ever worked with as a pool cleaner. When we compared bids with others, Jim delivered the best design and apples to apples, met or beat the competitors. They started earlier and we were swimming a little before the projected end date. We appreciated the professionalism; all of the crew were very polite. Jim really listened to what we wanted in designing an outdoor living space (something the other pool builders failed to capture) and the final outcome really exceeded our expectations! The rock art and water features are incredible!!! When we had one change order that didn't quite work out, Jim worked with us to fairly resolve the issue. When we first met with Jim Barrett, owner of Quality Custom Pools we were impressed. His first design was expansive. Fantastic but just a bit more than we needed. We are nearing our retirement years and we wanted simple so we challenged him to downsize and make it elegantly perfect for our property. His design and ultimate execution was superb and we are over the top with what we ultimately have in our backyard. Details matter and Jim and his team gets it. Now throw in COVID and 2 months of rain during the build and it shows not only the resilience of his business but also relentless focus on making a quality custom pool to make us happy. Jim and his crew did a fantastic job. My wife and I are very satisfied with how everything turned out. Jim and his team do quality work, they answered all of our questions in a timely manner and they addressed all of our concerns. Kudos to Jim, Jason, and his crew! We recently hired Quality Custom Pools to build a pool in our back yard with a stone retaining wall, stamped concrete, and a patio cover. From the beginning Jim answered all of our questions in a simplistic easy to understand manner. He is very thorough and prides himself on attention to detail.
