We love our pool so much. Dean and his network of craftsmen are consummate professionals and experts - ensuring even the smallest details are just right. Dean communicated every step of the way, and quickly resolved a couple of issues that popped up as does in any major construction project. Our pool started and finished exactly when Dean said it would and the quality couldn't be any better. We only got one swim in before the weather turned but it was amazing and we are so excited for next season and the years of memories ahead. Thanks again!!
What can I say that hasn't been said about Dean and his subcontractors? It was truly an incredible experience with our recent pool build. I found Granite Creek Pools and Spas after doing a search thru Yelp and reading thru many of the past reviews. A year prior to our build with Dean, we had started the bidding process but the timing just wasn't right for us. Then the pandemic started in 2020 and we knew we had to follow thru, so we restarted the bidding process. That is when we found Dean. In total we received 5 bids from companies both very large and very small; Granite Creek Pools and Spas, a small family owned (yet experienced) company, was clearly the front runner for us. Of the 5 bids, Dean was not the cheapest nor was he the priciest, but fortunately his bid was right where we needed to be. The number one trait of Dean is that he communicates well with his clients, whether it be by phone, text or email. If it is not urgent, it won't be immediate and that is understandable. But he does respond, so you are not left in the dark at anytime thru the build. Another trait of Dean is that he is super patient and listens to the client! We spent so much time trading ideas and his vast knowledge and experience was crucial to our successful build. Other large companies were just interested in shoving their ideas down your throat and just want to place you in their queue of customers. Only Dean could understand the type of pool we wanted to perfectly fit our whole environment. If you want a personalized experience and a builder that values your ideas, Dean at Granite Creek Pools and Spas is the answer. Finally, the subcontractors that Dean has teamed with are stellar companies. You can tell that they have worked many years together with Dean; the subcontractors also know one another well so it made the pool stage transitions seamless on hand off. All of this made the build so much fun and enjoyable, as it was a treat to watch the best at work. They are as much detail oriented as Dean is with their respective tasks. Last year proved to be a very tough year to do a pool build in the middle of a pandemic, but Dean always found a way to get thru the many unforeseen circumstances. In the end, our backyard turned out better than imagined! We are happy to create many lifelong memories with our pool and we are always recommending Dean at Granite Creek Pools and Spas to everyone that inquires.
Sorry Dean and Cindy, this review is a long time coming! We had the most amazing experience with Granite Creek Pools in the construction of our in ground pool and spa. Dean was responsive from the start with providing an estimate and options to see local pools they have completed. His estimates are clear and comparable to other companies in the area. At first glance it seemed in the medium high range in terms of price, however there are a lot of important things included in the overall price other companies did not provide in their initial estimate that I imagine would tack on. I would much rather know all my costs up front from the start. Despite starting construction in the middle of covid, we started digging in end of February 2021 and completed end of June 2021. Dean uses some of the best sub contracted specialists in the area. We were elated every time a new team came from excavators to plumbing/electrical to concrete and beyond; they all held Dean in high regards with his quality of work and viewed him as one of the top builders in the area. How reassuring is that during a scary large investment such as building a pool?! We have been enjoying and loving our pool for a year now and cannot imagine gone through the process with anyone but Granite Creek. The final product is stunning and most importantly done correctly the first time. Thank you Granite Creek! We love our pool!
Dean Barker is a true professional. He is knowledgeable, patient, respectful, and flexible. When Shelley and I met Dean the first time, we got an immediate sense of comfort with him. His calm and engaging demeanor really set the tone for helping us figure out how to create our own version of paradise. He does a great job developing a plan thoroughly talking through all of your options. His schedule is clear and concise. He prepares you ahead of time for what to expect. He has surrounded himself with exceptional tradesmen that represent themselves with the same philosophies as Dean. To us, that is the difference in Granite Creek and any other pool contractor. There were no delays.... no excuses.... when Dean and his team send we will be here, they were. In the end, we have amazing backyard. It's perfect for us. Dean blended our vision with his knowledge and knocked it out of the park. When we started the project, we hired a contractor. When the project was over, we had a friend. Thank you Dean and Granite Creek Pools & Spas. We couldn't be happier. Shelley and Wayne
Dean and the team at Granite Creek Pools and Spas did an amazing job with our build! They got it done on time, and on budget. We received quotes from several local companies, but Dean and Rohit were the most knowledgeable, and their designs were awesome! Zero pressure from these guys which was a complete opposite from their competitors, and the price was right. We made some small tweaks along the way, and they were very accommodating and patient with us. We couldn't be happier with the final result, and would recommend them to anyone looking to build their dream back yard!
All I can say is Dean and his crew were Awesome! Dean is so easy to work with, he had great ideas and he did so good at working with our limited budget. Most importantly his crew showed up every single day and they worked so efficiently and they were all really nice people. Amado's team which were the masonry guys were excellent at what they do. Martin and Ruben were perfectionists. I am very picky and I had no complaints which is unbelievable. All I can say is do your homework first because Dean moves like a well oiled machine and you need to be ready to pick your colors and stone choices, etc..... WE ARE VERY HAPPY WITH THE END RESULT. THANKS DEAN.
After reviewing and getting several quotes for our major backyard and pool remodel we decided to go with Granite Creek. We ran into Dean at an OC home show and he sounded very knowledgeable and easy to work with. He came home and immediately put together a virtual rendering of our project at no cost and sold us on the ideas including a few that saved us some money to allow us to finish the job with great landscaping. This was the smoothest project I have ever worked on and I am a Realtor and have been through quite a few of them for clients. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the results and the process! We recommend Dean and his company to anyone that is in his service area and needs a pool remodel.
From the initial meeting to the final look of our pool, our experience with Granite Creek Pools was 10/10! The owner, Dean, is very honest and up front with everything! We had plenty of quotes and it always stuck in my head that Dean said, he would always be "middle of road with cost," which he was...and we got quotes that were all across the board! Dean's team did an outstanding job; they would start early and stay until an appropriate hour (our neighbors didn't hate us). They always cleaned up after themselves and kept it tidy, which I definitely appreciated! We opted for a more modern look with our pool and Dean executed my vision perfectly but also gave his professional opinion and guidance when it was needed...I'm no pool designer! Needless to say, we have absolutely no complaints with our experience and we are more than happy with our results! Go with Granite Creek Pool!
we were referred to Granite Creek Pools & Spa by word of mouth/friend of a friend. We met with Dean, visited a job site & knew we found the right group! He helped transform our backyard and front yard. Great design collaboration with us, great communication and follow through. His knowledge, and experience are excellent. The execution on the work was beautiful! We could not be happier with the results! I would absolutely recommend Dean and his crew!
Dean was the first person who made us feel at ease about our pool remodel project. We had some palm trees that were lifting the coping, tile and cement. He had great suggestions on where to look for the material, coping and tile. The rendering he did gave us a real idea of what it would look like when complete. His crew is awesome, they really work hard and do great work. We are very happy with the end result and he brought the project in per the schedule.
We recently finished a full hardscape and pool remodel with Granite Creek Pool and Spa. Dean Barker the owner, worked with us on our ideas and far exceeded our expectations. It was challenging at times due to the rare SoCal heavy rains and the Covid pandemic but the job was completed with minimal delay and Dean was very patient and flexible with our requests. I can't say enough to how courteous Dean and his crews were with our family. He kept the job site clean and if there was any issues they were quickly taken care of. We had a 20 year old plaster pool that was past its time. We installed new stamped/stained concrete and a flagstone coping. We added new stone and tile and used a pebble sheen ocean blue finish. Dean's estimate was fair and came in around the middle price range of other quotes. Ultimately we chose Granite Creek because we wanted someone with a good reputation and who was easy to work with. There was no price gouging or unforeseen costs during construction and Dean even took time to meet us at the stone yard to go over pros and cons of various materials. Granite Creek is a smaller company but Dean has great personal relationships with all his sub contractors and is good at communicating with you every step of the way. I was nervous starting a project of this size but the end result is amazing and we couldn't be happier!
Being that a pool is a major purchase, we got six different quotes from the get go. The quotes varied in price by about 30k from cheapest to most expensive-all for the same project and scope. There were a few contractors we knew from the start were not a good fit. Granite Creek Pools was not the cheapest quote, it fell right in the lower middle of what we were given. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and with the size of the project we wanted to be sure it was done well by a person that was competent and experienced. We really liked Dean's easy going and friendly nature from our very first meeting. He never pressured us for the sale. He had great suggestions and different options for our design using his knowledge from years in the business. The timeline for our project was very clear from the start and was adjusted as required due to weather and that was always communicated with us. Unfortunately, our project had many set backs, all due to the abundant rain we had this past winter (2019). He never seemed frustrated of flustered. He was always quick to reply whenever we had a question or concern. He calmed our fears even when we were panicked (after our excavation, the side of our pit collapsed after an unrelenting rain). He always had an answer to the problem and never seemed caught off guard. There were many times he was knee deep in mud pumping water out of our pit or shoveling mud. He did what it took to correct things. Payments for the work were clearly laid out from the beginning and it was easy to understand. Our project has now been finished for about a month and we couldn't be happier. The work Granite Creek did has exceeded our expectations. We wouldn't have changed a thing. There have been a couple small things that have needed correcting and Dean has been quick to take care of it. We would highly recommend Granite Creek to anyone considering any type of pool construction! Dean has become part of the family and is now "Uncle Dean" to our two boys.

Dean was recommended to us by a friend who couldn't say enough good things about him and the pool he had built them 10+ years ago. We were so happy with him throughout the process and we love our pool! He met with us multiple times at the beginning, answered all our questions, listened to our ideas and came up with some great designs for us. He took our vision and made it fit the yard and look more beautiful than we could have imagined. He has a true talent for that! Every crew that came into our yard to work was professional, respectful and did great work. He communicated well, and stuck to the timeline as close as weather permitted. I recommend him to anyone who asks, and would use him again in a heartbeat! read more

We are beyond happy with the beautiful job Dean did with our pool, spa and BBQ build. Dean was amazing to work with and we definitely made the right choice. He lays out the honest facts and has a no pressure approach. He was very flexible and willing to support our many requests and design changes. He'll also let you know his honest professional opinion if something is not a good idea. Everyone Dean brought onto the job site was professional and did quality work. Thank you Dean for making our backyard dream a reality! I highly recommend Dean and Granite Creek Pools. You will not be disappointed. read more

I waited a year to see how the pool worked out. We have a pool that was built in 1972, it has been re-plastered a few times - nothing else. It was old and the bottom had a few rust spots already. The final product was what we agreed upon. Communication was wonderful and he was easy to work it. He met us a few times at the different tile/paver stores and helped us choose. The City we live in, is not the easiest to work with. Dean had to revise the plans a few times to get approval. Here we are, a year later and there have been no problems. We changed the size of the pool and jacuzzi; added pavers all throughout our backyard. He also installed "tubes" so we could add lights and sprinklers for the plants. We got 4 total quotes prior to making our decision. His written quote was detailed and comprehensive, more so than the others I got. He also arranged for us to visit a house that he was currently working on so we could talk to the homeowner and get feedback. I found out about Dean from my daughter's friend whose pool he installed. We were comfortable with our decision by the time we decided as we saw two of his work and got two solid feedback regarding the work he does. Thanks Dean! read more
