From my research, he is being evicted from his office in Temecula, has stopped sending his subcontractors due to owing them thousands of dollars, and has stopped communicating with our phone calls. We have contacted all the remaining subcontractors and have been paying them directly to hopefully get our pool completed. UPDATE: July 26 - I'm still blocked by the owner (Danny Smith), and the co-owner, George Moreno, has no answers except telling me that maybe he can help me find subcontractors for me to pay to finish my pool! The business storefront is empty and he has been evicted. The phone numbers for the business do not work. I've learned there are at least 25 people in the same situation. SO MANY subcontractors haven't been paid and refuse to work with him because of it. Our experience with California Custom Pools started in February and it is now mid-July and we still do not have a functioning pool. Will my pool ever be finished by California Custom Pools? I don't know. We have dealt with poor communication and other issues throughout the process. California Custom Pools eagerly took my money, but where is my pool? The most recent issue: we were told that in order to have the pre-plaster inspection, we needed our safety devices and fencing issues fixed. Our fence guy came through and had it done immediately. We purchased and installed all the required safety devices. We were told our pavers (that are being done by a different company), needed to be done before the Stonescapes went in. Our paver guy has worked tirelessly. We are ready. We were told by the owner that the inspection is supposed to be on 7/15 and the plumbing company was coming on 7/13 to install the pool pumps and move some gas lines. I asked the owner of California Custom Pools for an ETA. No response. 4 hours later, I asked for an ETA. I was told that they were in Escondido and that they were "headed to me". I waited all day, they never arrived. Since then, I have not heard back from the owner of California Custom Pools. I contacted the plumber myself, and he told me that I am not even on his schedule, due to non-payment from California Custom Pools. I've received calls from subcontractors telling me that they haven't been paid. I've received preliminary lien notices via Certified Letters from subcontractors due to balances owed. I was told by the owner of California Custom Pools that everyone has been paid. This simply is not true. California Custom Pools has my money, so why haven't the subcontractors been paid? I've asked three times for an answer to this question, with no response or accounting of what happened to my money. I have no Stonescapes, no lights, no pump equipment, no sand entry, no fire bowls, and my stone pillars aren't even finished (and by the way, all of the material to finish it has been stolen by someone). I have a cement hole in my yard. I am distressed. My child keeps asking to buy pool toys and is wondering when the pool will be done. How sad is that? They would promise a subcontractor would be there on a specific day and then no one would show up. This happened repeated times. It took 6 weeks just to wrap up the project with the coping mastic installation. Finally got the truth about what was going on that the plumber was owed a lot of money by California Custom pools so he was refusing to do the work understandably. So we worked out that I would pay the plumber directly and that worked out. Now were at the final stage for Plaster/Pebble Tech and once again told we were on the schedule and no show. But we have a bigger problem now Danny the owner wont take calls or answer text so I went by his office this morning there are eviction notices on the door of the business. So I contacted 2 of the main guys and found out that they no longer work for California Custom Pools and that there Subcontractors wont do any work due to no payments.
