I have been buying bicycles and having repairs done at Quad since the shop opened in Arlington, probably over 25 years. I have enjoyed all of the bikes, and the repairs and tune ups have always made the bikes look, sound, and feel new again, or even better than new. The shop has a long history of supporting the bicycling community as well the general community, donating bikes for charity raffles. Rustem has always been kind and helpful toward me, and he once did an after-hours repair to rescue my bike the night before I departed on a trip. So yeah, 5 stars and highly recommended. I brought an old road bike here with the idea of having it converted to a single speed. I had intended to do the work myself, but since I hadn't gotten around to it in over a year, I decided to just bring it in and save myself the hassle. I chose this place because it was close by. As soon as I explained what I wanted, the diminutive owner started trying to sell me a new bike. He kept going on and on about what an amazing machine he would set me up with. To paint a picture, this little guy is like a pushy salesman from a bad sitcom. His routine was almost funny until he realized I wasn't going to buy, and then he just became nasty. I told him that I already had a nice road bike, and that I wasn't interested in spending $1000 on a grocery-getter. He looked up at me and replied, with a completely straight face, that if I could convert my old bike for less than that, then I must have stolen the parts. He seriously said that! He even went so far as to tear down a stolen bike flyer from the wall, crumple it up for dramatic effect, and tell me that bike was missing because somebody stole it to sell for parts. I basically just laughed in his tiny face, and walked out. I can't speak about anyone else on the staff here, since I only dealt with the little owner. Some other reviewers have praised the mechanics, so I assume they are perfectly competent. I imagine working here must require a thick skin, since the little owner's customer service persona is probably an example of him putting his best face forward. Imagine being such a pathetic little man that resorting to temper tantrums is what makes you feel big in the world. Again, if you think I'm embellishing, all you have to do is read through the rest of the reviews and see for yourself who the main character in all of the bad experiences turns out to be. Still not convinced? Stop in and see for yourself. In case you're wondering, I ultimately ended up doing the conversion myself, and the total cost was around $250 and a few hours of my time. read more

There is only one problem with this shop. Rustem. I have a 2012 Cannondale Scalpel Team Race bike. It's quite a PITA to work on, and continually mystifies shops with its proprietary parts. That is why my only option for work is going to a cannondale dealer, like quad cycles. I walked in and asked about adjusting my head tube extension and slacking out the bike (a popular procedure for this model of lefty scalpel). I was immediately talked to by Rustem, and he told me my bike was too old to work on and that I should get a new bike. When I further went to explain what I wanted done, he just interrupted me and refused to let me speak with a mechanic or anyone qualified to do the work. He said I didn't understand what I was talking about (partially correct and why I value knowledgeable bike shop staff) Awesome, only place in my area that's a cannondale dealer and I am being shit on by the owner. Not looking too good. I decide to go back to the shop to speak with the mechanic, I arrive at 1120 and I am told by the cashier that everyone is on lunch break... and to call back later. Getting a little worried at this point. I call back in and speak with the mechanic assigned to my bike. Complete 180, he listened to what I was trying to do and stated that they have the tools to do the work (most shops do not). The simple fact of listening to what I am trying to accomplish versus just yelling at me saying my bike is too old and that it couldn't be done was quite the difference. I arrived after work that day to pick up the bike and was charged a reasonable fee for new head tube bearings and moving the head tube extension. He showed me the worn out bearings and we were both on the same page about the work being completed. If it wasn't for an extremely negative experience with Rustem, this would be a 5 star shop. But when someone tells you not to come in and you cannot talk to the mechanic working on your bike, red flags are raised and trust is ruined. It's MY bike and if I am not allowed to speak to a person working on it, how can I be confident they understand what I want done. Blows my mind. Thankfully this turned out well but if you NEED to go to this shop you are best off dealing with literally anyone other than Rustem. read more

These guys are super heroes! I called on a Saturday morning in June after we discovered the e-assist on our 10-year old, hand me down cargo bike was no longer engaging. They said to pop in same day and they'd check it out. I was just hoping for a diagnosis, but they had identified AND fixed the problem by Sunday morning. Had my first experience with Quad Cycles recently. I needed a tune up ($85) to my old RockHopper mountain bike. Also needed new tires, tubes and saddle. Rustem was busy with another customer but gave me a visual acknowledgement that he'll be with me shortly. I kept myself busy with checking out new bikes, clothing etc. I liked the atmosphere as it reminded me of an old school shop. The newer shops I've been to are more aligned with all things modern and high prices. Once Rustem and I got talking, I realized how caring and knowledgeable he is. He didn't try to sell me on a new bike or expensive products. He told me my bike would be done within a few a days even though he's short on employees. Upon pick up, everything was in order and I'm very happy with the results. I would definitely recommend Quad Cycles for your typical rider family. I will frequenting this shop when I have a bike need or just for a social drop by to chat with Rustem. Total out of pocket was $285 plus tax which I felt was very reasonable given the beat up condition of my bike. read more

I could stop by to just say hello and catch up on the latest trends in biking world or to get a pair of gloves or knick knacks. A group of bikers meet up there on weekend mornings for a group ride. Went in to get a flat tire fixed since it was covid days, the guy asked me to wait which I did. When he came back I showed him few things on the bike that required additional work. The guy just did not want to help and started going off on the bike's condition (I didn't come to get a "condition" certificate on the bike) and berating with foul language. I just took the bike and left, I was in the market to purchase two new bikes and support local shops but I guess the guy decided he didn't want the money so went to Belmont and gave them the business. Quad cycles, just relax its a bike store, you guys are not performing heart surgery :) read more

I am the kind of person who wants to pay a fair price for solid, honest service, and that's what I experienced at Quad Cycles. I've had a few bad experienced at other shops in the area, but Rustem and his staff were great. I had a problem with my rear shifting that multiple shops couldn't diagnose, but Rustem was able to nail down the problem just by fixing the fundamentals: he quickly identified a loose rear cassette, and a shifting cable that was installed to be far too long (by the last shop). After the work, the bike performed much better than before- though still not perfect... Rustem identified that some of the shifting might be slowed due to the wear on my chain, but he didn't recommend replacing it quite yet as the bike still was generally fine with some slight tweaks of shifting style. He could have made another part sale, but instead he told me to bring it in after the chain had worn out. This is the sign of an honest shop. Overall, if you're in the Arlington area, this is the bike shop to go to. This is where I'll go from now on for all of my repairs, and I plan on eventually getting a nice road bike, which I'll be sure to buy from here. read more

When you walk into Quad Cycles you're not walking in to a bike studio. You're walking into one of, "those," shops. As you enter you see the old black and white photos of the heyday of bicycle racing; raised arms at the finish line and cheering crowds. You see old, well-worn wool jerseys hung in on the walls and vintage Bianchi, Pinarello, and DeBernardi bicycles hanging from the ceiling as if to remind you of what kind of shop it really is. This is the shop of yesteryear where you hear the faint smell of oil and hear the local riders discussing their training routes or relaxing after a ride. Then you meet the humble owner who looks at you with that glint in his eye, the one that ensures you that he's going to take care of you. Rustem will look at you but he will not talk at first, but then he will clear his throat and tell you exactly what he thinks. He's akin to an auto mechanic that won't charge you extra for the little things. The noises of the mechanics and the spinning of bike wheels waft throughout the shop as you're guided along to what you need. Never too much and never too little. A careful and occasional glance from the owner as you follow the staff through the rows of bottles, gloves, riding kits, and helmets ensures you that he's trained them well; look them in the eye, they can always come back with questions, and they'll make whatever work for you. I moved to the town of Arlington in 2011 in a small apartment across the shop. Every Sunday I used to see the bright colors of green and blue kits roll out for a group ride and then return in the afternoon with smiles on their faces. So I walked in once, the bell rang at the door, and the owner, Rustem, came to the front of the shop having set aside a wheel he was truing. "You look like you're new here. How can we help?" It's been a humbling and pleasurable experience ever since. And my cup truly runs over. Lastly and in our current times with COVID-19, Rustem and his staff are taking things very seriously. They've implemented a one-customer-at-a-time policy and customers are lined up within 6 feet of one another. A staff member will greet you at the front door, take your payment, bring you your repaired bike, and do a credit card transaction with the utmost consideration of being sterile. A couple of months ago, I took my beloved twenty-eight-year-old Specialized Allez Comp in to Rustem. It needed a new seat, front wheel, and chain. I asked Rustem whether it was time for me just to buy a new bike. Although he knew that I had been considering getting a new bike -- from him -- for years, he looked at me and asked me whether I really wanted to give up on my bike. I realized that I didn't. For roughly one third the cost of a new bike of similar quality, Rustem overhauled my old friend. He told me that it would ride like a new bike, and it does! Someday, I may have to buy a new bike, and, when I do, I'll buy it from Quad. Meanwhile, I trust them to do outstanding mechanical work at a fair price. read more

I'm generally not a fan of bike shops. It seems to be a sport that attracts a substantial amount of people who I would not want to have a beer with or want to hit with my car door door. Tomato / tomahto. And these same folks tend to then get jobs at the stores I go to. Getting my older bikes to continue to perform this season has required a variety of parts / upgrades etc. and the last couple of times I've been in quad cycles has been great. Helpful , cheerful etc and always feels good to buy local. It's tough to get parts etc, and they are doing there best. So while I hesitate to write reviews of bike stores any more I thought my past couple experiences warranted it. read more

I have to say, I was a little reluctant to go in because of some of the reviews I had read. But I am happy I did. My husband and I are not well informed about bikes and were in the market for new ones. They have a large selection of bikes and they have everything you think you might need to ride, and then some. Matthew really took care of us! He was not only knowledgeable and professional, but was super helpful and Really took the time to educate us. We had a wonderful experience from beginning to end! I do wish they would throw a few accessories to make it perfect without charging extra for every little thing and have been in places where they'll do that. But hey... business has to survive. I went there while I was in the area. I have been cycling for over 25 years and have never experienced an owner being so pushy and deceptive about what I needed. The prices on the tires and tubes I bought were sky high and the quality was poor. I tried to get his opinion on what I was buying at the time but he just told me that whatever was in my hand was fine. I didn't really want to buy anything from the shop but I was on the road, did not know the area and needed the spares for tubes and tires. I will not go into all of the details but I cannot recall another time that I left a shop so disgusted. read more

I'm an unhappy ex-customer of Quad Cycles. I bought my bike there 2 years ago, a Scott Sub-10 with Shimano hydraulic disc brakes. I have had to replace the disc brakes twice; the first time (within two months of buying the bike) Shimano covered the cost under warranty, the second time I had to pay for it. I was not happy that the same problem -- leaking brake calipers -- was happening again, so I asked Justin, the technician, if Quad Cycles would provide me a no-cost replacement warranty in the future if this problem happens again. Justin asked the owner, Rustem, who said "yes." With that, I agreed to accept the replacement of the disc brakes with the same model. Upon picking up the bike, I proceed to ask Rustem to write the warranty commitment on the repair slip, and he said he would not charge the labor cost, but that I would have to pay for the cost of the part. Rustem's defense? ...a one-year warranty on a part means that I should not expect it to last more than one year. Rustem further tried to put me down by telling me that I use the bike a lot. Bottom line: Rustem dissembles and lies and when confronted with it he becomes rude and tries to tell you that that you are being unreasonable expecting a part to last longer than its warranty. Finally, it is clear to me that the Shimano Altus BL - M425 disc brake is defective, and that Shimano has not fixed the problem. I expect the owner of Quad Cycles to be honest with me and alert me that the brakes are defective, instead of arguing that I'm being unreasonable for expecting the brakes to last more than 1 year, Shimano's warranty period. read more

During a recent ride, my bike's back wheel began making some strange popping/grinding noises. I'd been thinking I should get a tune-up, so this just kicked me out of my procrastination mode. The problem: it's April and it seems like everyone takes their bike in when the weather is finally good, so I expected a longer than normal turnaround. Now, normally I'd take my bike to a well-known store in an adjacent town, but as a new resident of Arlington I figured I'd check out this more local business... I'm so glad I did! I took my bike in on a Wednesday afternoon and was helped by Rustem. He was in the middle of working on another bike, but quickly came onto the floor and asked me what was going on. I described the grinding noise and sluggish shifting. He spun the wheel, tried the brakes, shifters, and so on, and then agreed that I needed a tune-up, but also recommended a new rear wheel (it was original from 2002) and a deep cleaning and re-lube of the shifters (also original parts). Seeing how my bike was 17 years old and I'd done no work on either of those it seemed reasonable and the prices he quoted seemed in line with other bike shops I'd been to. Now for the best part... my bike was ready the NEXT DAY! I picked it up, took it home and hopped on for a test ride and it felt terrific! Shifting was spot on, my brakes were firmer (and quieter), and my rear wheel sounded quiet again. Overall, the courteous service, fast turnaround, and reasonable prices made this a terrific first experience at Quad Cycles... read more

I can honestly say I have never left a negative review about any business but I just had an unbelievably bad experience in this bike shop. I have young children that were running around a bit and the person working the floor became aggressively rude and insulting. I tried to just leave the store but he followed to the door and continued berating me and my parenting. I just have never experienced anything like that. He even said something about me being lucky I had the children with me or it would be worse. I was looking to buy a bike for me and my children but will never enter this place again and would recommend the same to anyone else. read more

A horrible shop with an equally horrible owner. Can you give _Zero_ stars? Six months ago I bought a Breezer bike from Cambridge Bike Shop (good guys, BTW) when I was working in Cambridge, but now that my job has relocated to Waltham, Quad Cycles is the closest Breezer dealer to my home in Arlington. Normally, repair work I do myself, or take to the Bike Stop (also really good), but as I needed some warranty repair work done, I _had_ to go to a "Breezer Dealer". So, five minutes to Quad Cycles, or 35 minutes to Cambridge Bike... Off to Quad Cycles I went. Gave the laundry list of repairs to the mechanic: some warranty issues - a stripped set-screw on the Nexus 3-speed shift box (causing it to pop off the axle when put into 3rd) and a skipping/slipping Shimano 3-speed hub; some repairs for a bike that is used daily for a 20 mile round-trip commute - burned out headlight, bent rim, and a general $50 "tune-up". I made certain to explain to the mechanic that some items were for warranty, and others where not. Next afternoon I receive a call from the owner of Quad Cycles who immediately launches into a sales pitch, telling my that my bike is "worn out" and not worth fixing, but that he would be glad to give me $100 credit for my rusted out hulk on the purchase of an $800 _new_ Breezer. Did I mention that my bike is 6 months old? Or that it cost me $700? "Yes, but the bill comes to $375, and with the credit I will give you, and the great price, it makes the most sense for you to buy a new bike", was his reply. "Wait, how much of that bill is for warranty issues? The new rear rim and spoking I will pay for, but the new hub and shifter should come from Breezer." Long story short, I was told that he would not submit any warranty claims since I had not bought the bike from his shop. I would have to buy the new transmission and shifter myself and pay him to put them on for me. "Why should I do all this work for nothing?" I believe was the quote from the owner. I explained that I had expected to pay for the non-warranty work, and I had also expected to pay for the labor involved in replacing warranty parts, but having to pay for the parts themselves was unwarranted. All to no avail. So, I spent time this afternoon speaking with the Breezer sales rep, who apologized profusely and promised to look into the matter. I also managed to track down Joe Breezer himself who also appologized and admited that there were design flaws in the bike for which he would be shipping me free replacement parts. This evening I will be picking up my bike from Quad Cycles, loading it into my wife's car , and making the 40 minute trek to Cambridge Bike. This is what I should have done in the first place. The moral of the story, do not be fooled by the nice looking shop or the initially charming shop-keeper. I can testify the charm vanishes in an instant once your credit card has cleared and he has your money. It is a real shame, because the store itself is very nice, and the hours are convenient, but the service and support are terrible and that is how a business should be judged - if I wanted to be left out in the cold, I could buy stuff from the Internet for half the price. If you need work done, I suggest the Bike Stop on Dudley Street - they aren't pretty, but they know and love bikes and appreciate every customer they get. read more

These guys are crooks. It's bad customer service to "never, under any circumstances" issue a refund on any products you sell. It's even worse customer service refuse to issue a refund on an item that was purchased only a few days ago and is still in the box, unopened. It's EVEN WORSE customer service to tell someone over the phone that, yes, they can come in and return the item for a refund, that they can and should take off from work, drive an hour out of their way...to get all the way there and then be told that, actually NO, there are no refunds. But what is the WORST customer service is telling that customer that it's all in their head, that nobody would have told them over the phone that they could come in and return the item for a refund. Trust me, I don't believe the customer is always right. But maybe, as a store owner, you should learn the difference between the words "exchange" and "return," between "refund" and "store credit." And maybe you should take some responsibility for what you tell customers over the phone. Thanks for selling me a piece of crap product, for refusing a return, and for wasting half my day and half a tank of gas. read more

I went in to have my bike looked at because it was skipping and needed to get it tuned up for a charity ride. The tech there said it needed a new chain and rear cassette as the chain had stretched. Due to potential cost and age of bike I ended up buying a new bike. The said they would fit it to me and when I went back with my shoes they setup the bike to fit it. All they did was look and say it looked fine. That is not a fitting even a simple one. I ended up having to raise the seat and shit it back to get the right position. They either had no clue how to fit a bike or could care less once the sale was done. I had my own pedals and shoes so they put them on for the above mentioned "fit". I left after the fit to test the bike and forgot to take the pedals that came with the bike with me. I like to have them to switch to for indoor training. I went back a couple of weeks later to get them and was told that "pedals don't come with bikes, they are a separate purchase!" Are you kidding me? That is such a crock of sh--, they just wanted more money. I walked out and won't walk in there again. I had given the other bike to a friend as he could afford to fix it but not buy a new one. He ended up taking it to International Bike. They looked it over and tuned it up and changed the derailleur cables. It did not need a new chain or cassette, a $100 worth or work and it was good as new. They are a bunch of cheats and again just want your money!!!! As others have said they just want your money and could care less about your needs or what is best for you. Head to Wheelworks or International Bike if you want a real shop that cares about your needs. read more

I love me some Quad Cycles. The thing is, it seems like a regular bike shop with standard prices, but it is the people who work there make it a very special place. I became involved with Quad when I signed up for my first charity ride (Harbor the the Bay) this past summer. Quad is one of the Ride's sponsors (a good sign, right off the bat), so I went there to take advantage of my discount. I've always been a bike commuter and casual bike cruiser-type person, but I had never been on a road bike or considered anything like those fancy clip-in shoes. I became overwhelmed by the choices and the prices that I almost had a breakdown and called the whole thing off. Enter Rustem, the owner. He walked me through the whole bike and bike accessory-buying process, gave me an amazing deal on a bike, and between he and some other "Quaddies" loitering around the shop, pretty much spent an entire afternoon making sure I was comfortable and getting me psyched for the Ride. Turns out, Quad Cycles runs a training ride every Saturday and Sunday (weather permitting) all year long. It's a 65 mile loop that starts and ends at the shop. You can choose to ride only part of it, or the whole thing. It leaves promptly at 9:30 AM every Saturday and Sunday, and anyone who wants to ride is welcome. I rode with them once a week all summer long, got in great shape, met some great people, had a ton of fun, and ended up rocking the charity ride like a champ. Thanks, Quad! Go there. I really want to like Quad Cycles, I really do. I think 2.5 stars is an appropriate review, but that's not an option. As other reviews have stated, the owner can be tough to get along with, but ultimately he's a nice guy who is very willing to work with you if you go about it in a professional manner. I had an ultimately positive experience buying a bike from him, though it took a lot of back and forth to get there. My issue is with the cost of labor and the service I received. I brought in tubular tires to be glued up and wanted them done by a professional. I checked the website, $20 + glue for each tire? Amazing deal. The process took 2 days longer than originally quoted, but I told them to take their time since I didn't need them for about a week and half anyways. I went to pick up my wheels and we get to the register. Rings me up, $75 per wheel plus glue (or ~375% more than the website). I explain that the website says $20 per wheel plus glue and after some hesitation, he agrees to honor the price, "Fantastic" I think to myself. Fast forward to the weekend and I'm staged for a race on my freshly glued wheels ready to do well. I get a great start and am really pleased with the first race on the new wheels and then as I'm going hard around a corner on the very first lap my rear wheel seizes. I rolled the tire off the rim and it jammed between the wheel and the chain stay, race over, DNF. I brought it to the local shop guy (who exclusively races tubulars and has glued 100s if not 1000s) at the race to take a look at, he says that it looks like a poor glue job based on the failure. I left him with my wheels and he completely re-did the rear wheel and upon inspecting the front recommended I get that reglued as well. Ultimately I ended up paying the other shop $117 to reglue the wheels and they have been great thus far. I didn't go back to Quad to try and get the wheel redone because at this point I don't trust them to do it right and have a tire roll off a rim can cause terrible crashes. Luckily I was on grass and it was the back tire so no harm done to me, but had it been the front tire, I undoubtedly crash there. The shop is fine, they have a lot of inventory and the owner works hard to make you happy (if you give him a chance to), but when it comes to my safety, I just can't look past that. read more

It pains me to do this, but I'm downgrading my review of Quad Cycles after getting some service done to my bike. Forward: After a long ride, my rear derailleur hanger decides that I had the shift cable too tight, and snaps right in front of Quad Cycles. What dreadful luck, since I was about 10 miles from home. Blah. I bring it in and state the problem, and they wanted to get all into truing my rear wheel. I tell them no, and we agree to $70 dollars for the hanger and labor for replacement. A bit high, but whatever, it was hot and I was tired. The next friday I get a call that my bike is ready. Yay! I get a ride out there and pick up my bike. Somehow or another my bill has doubled in price to 140 dollars. For what? They put a new chain on that retails for around 25-30 dollars online. I was never informed that they were going to change the chain. I want to know what exactly had a chain change, a new shift cable, and a hanger change to have 80 dollars worth in labor. (For those of you not in the know, a decent mechanic can change a cable in 10 minutes). Sadly, I was in a hurry and just needed my bike back. I'm pretty appalled by the entire transaction and really disappointed by all of this in hindsight. I might ride a high end road bike, but that doesn't mean I'm a sucker. read more

Looking for a bike for my kid during Covid. All the other stores around me had nothing but when I called Quad, the man on the phone told me they had something and to come in if I wanted to see it. (I had told him the measurements, inseam, height, everything.). We waited a week, which I thought was probably too long, and called again. We were lucky a bike was still there, and the man told us to come in. When we arrived, there was a line and a sign on the door that said pls ring. We rang and no one came to get us. An employee (turns out, the owner I think) was talking with a customer outside. I rang again after we waited a few minutes. Nobody came. When the owner was finished, he turned to us and asked what we wanted. We told him that an employee had told us to come look at bike. He told us the bike we were looking for was all the way at the back of the store. He disappeared. We went to where he had pointed but didn't see any bike. Rather, we saw many. After a few minutes, we went to the service desk and asked for help. The guy asked us how we got in, that it's Covid and people can't just browse, etc. We told him that we spoke, 2x, to someone on the phone who said to come in. He told us to speak to owner. The owner said we don't have anything. Eventually, he showed us, personally, the bike that someone had said was good for our child but by then, I was just so uncomfortable with how we'd been treated that we just left. When I buy a bike I need occasional service, etc., and I'd be almost afraid to go back into that store and have to ask for help if my bike needed it. They seemed to have nice bikes but nothing special enough to make me deal with them. read more

Went in to get tubes & tires replaced. The guy must have sniffed some extra dollars given the fact my bike had been sitting in the basement for a number of years (it was dirty & had plenty of cobwebs on it)- he started manhandling the shifters for about 3 seconds and said "you need to replace these- they don't work". Ummm....yes they do. Told him to just do the tires & maybe I'd be back for more work if the bike got a lot of use- he told me a couple of days for the repair. Came back 2 days later- work was not done. He asked me to come back in a few hours- the place is out of my way so I told him I would wait- it was done in about 15 minutes. While I was waiting he was pulling the same schtick on a girl and her father who had brought their bikes in for repair. I was glad when they walked out- I hope they went with Craigslist. I may get some more work done to my bike, but it certainly won't be here (my shifters are just fine). read more

This shop, and the owner Rustem, are as good as it gets. The clamp holding my saddle on broke while I was riding. While surveying the situation, Rustem found that my seat post also had a crack in it. Ironically, I have had a creaking noise on my bike for awhile, and several other bike shops never examined the post. New post! New clamp! Safe and sound on rode home with no creaks!!! Hands down the best bike shop in town. They have a huge selection of jerseys, shorts, and assorted gear, which many bike shops in the area don't have. They also stock some really well made jerseys and not just the lower end Pearl Izumi stuff, if that interests you. The people working there are also really nice and helpful, and there is none of that hipster bike snobbery you encounter a lot of other places. I know i'm not covered in tats and riding a fixie, but apparently that makes me less worthy of good service at most of the bike shops i've walked into. I have been going on the weekend training rides with Quad -- the people are nice, and Bobby Mac is a really great guy who loves training charity riders. He's given me some great advice. The rides leave Sat and Sunday morning from the shop, and depending on the weather there can be 15 or 40 riders. There are riders of all ability levels, and you can ride the whole 60 mile loop going through Arlington, Lexington, Concord, Carlisle, Chemlsford and sometimes Lincoln, or you can ride 40 or 20 miles. Afterwards, everyone gets together at Starbucks for some food and iced coffee. It's a good time. read more

Quad Cycles is a great shop and fills the void left by places like Wheelworks or ATA. They carry high-end and entry-level bikes from Cannondale, Lapierre, Scott, Fuji, Schwinn, Surly, and Merckx.There's a good chance they can fix something on the spot instead of requiring an appointment and you're very likely to deal directly with the owner when purchasing a bicycle. They're also more than happy to swap out parts on a bike to give you exactly what--without hassle. They have a mix of high end race bikes, entry level, and many utilitarian/commuter bikes. They have a lot of interesting stuff that's hard to find, too. I recently bought a Stronglight Pulsion crank (French and somewhat hard to find) there. They also have a lot of interesting and unusual Italian steel frames. Full disclosure, I race for Quad. Contrary to an existing review, they love steel frames there! They have many from De Bernardi, Torelli, Guerciotti, Coppi, Colnago, Jamis, and Surly just to name a few. read more
