Unfortunately, I have had too many negative experiences with Cycle Loft after nearly every interaction... After seeing that CycleLoft was highlighted as a "Gold" dealer by Brompton. I brought my Brompton Electric in for service after Brompton recommended warranty repair and Cycle Loft refused to do the work (under warranty) that Brompton had recommended on my 1 month old bicycle claiming that "Brompton doesn't know what they are talking about..." I had an equally disappointing interaction with a salesmen recently after I inquiring about purchasing another bicycle. I ended up buying my new bicycle online since I have had such a poor experience with the best "Gold" experience that brick and mortar has to offer Brompton Electric enthusiasts in the Burlington area. read more

They are a great place to have Brompton service. They fixed what the Foxboro Bike Shop screwed up. Foxboro Bike never put the front axle back on after replacing the tire and the wheel fell off. I think it's great that these guys are so helpful. Especially during these times where everybody seems very indifferent when it comes to customer service. I think it's refreshing that they go out of their way to help you in anyway they can. it was definitely a different experience walking in and having them be right there trying to assist in anyway possible even when it did not work out to be an expensive sale at that moment . They have to secret to success --build trust and long lasting relationships. They showed me what would work best for me (a new cyclist) rather than taking advantage and cashing in on someone not sure where to start and what I really needed. Many thanks to the team there. IDEAL I haven't regularly ridden a bike in DECADES. Entering into the "new world" of cycling was a lot to take in. I did my homework, had a sense of what kind of bike I wanted, what kind of money I should look to spend, and then started out to engage with bike stores. After a few misses, I found Cycle Loft. These guys were outstanding. It should be noted, they were overwhelmed my first few times going in (on weekends; and I think they were short staffed), however they were able to give me the attention I needed, answering questions I had, all while not rushing me through or pressuring me to make a purchase. I ended up buying a bike from them last Saturday. They had to build it, which was fine (I wasn't expecting to walk out with the bike). Their communication to me on when it was ready to pick up was prompt. They were super helpful in identifying key accessories I should consider (versus ones that weren't necessary for a "novice" like me). Again, friendly and informative. These guys have earned a customer for life (or at least for as long as I keep up the cycling). Kudos! read more

I had a wonderful experience at Cycle Loft buying my first recumbent trike. Doug listened to what I wanted and what I didn't want, and set me up with a Catrike Villager. I wanted a higher seat height & more upright position, and this trike is great for me! The following day, Anthony did a fantastic job setting up the trike for my size and making sure I was happy with it before I left. I observed interactions between sales people and several other customers, as well as service personnel working on bikes. These people were knowledgeable, patient, and welcoming on all accounts. Had the pleasure of dealing with Tyler Andrew and Anthony in the service shop. All three are excellent and really know their stuff. I have a bike which is on the expensive side so I'm always worried when going to a new shop. Within the first few minutes of talking to Tyler who was my main tech I knew that he was very knowledgeable and that my bike would be in safe hands. A lot of the reviews on here are negative because of COVID-19 mask mandates that the owner adhered to to keep his employees safe. I say good job to the owner for keeping everyone safe. Ugh, like others have said, they're very rude and unhelpful. I went in with my bike tire to ask if they sold bike tire tubes, and the guy at the counter looked at me like it was the dumbest thing anyone had ever asked. "They haven't sold those for YEARS. YEARS and years." That was it. No like, follow-up solutions or anything. "Okay, well, thanks." I left, drove to The Bikeway Source, and they were able to test the tire for leaks and sell me a tube. Yesterday, I excitedly brought my 10 y/o daughter into Cycle Loft in Burlington to buy her first "grownup" bike. After entering, Jeff, the owner (he was quite loud about letting me know this) aggressively approached me & my 2 kids and upon my asking about a new bike for my daughter, he immediately launched into a long, drawn out diatribe on how there's NO bikes in the store that we could buy. Along with the hostility in his voice was a list of excuses of why I also won't find one anywhere else bc of the "Big Bike Shortage". When I was finally able to get a word in, I inquired about the hundreds of bikes I saw in the store as I'm not a bike pro and am new to all of this. This seemed to visibly upset and frustrate him as he then proceeded to loudly walk me and my children throughout the store (mind you other patrons are watching) and starts pointing to a bike saying "well this bike is $3,000 or maybe this one for $1,000 (which I'm obv not going to spend on a 10 y/o kid's bike...). I was taken aback at his hostility as I was simply trying to understand since this was the first bike shop we had stopped at. Unfortunately it didn't end there, he then brought me over to the computer where I initially thought he was going to try and help, but no-he just continued to list every reason I wouldn't be able to find a bike while clicking on random links. Throughout this tense & very uncomfortable interaction, I would ask if there was anything he COULD do to help, but that just seemed to annoy him, he never offered any guidance or alternate options which was disappointing, but at this stage not very surprising... My kids and I left Cycle Loft feeling defeated & bummed-NOT bc they didn't have what we wanted, but bc of how uncomfortable Jeff made us feel and his overall dismissive attitude. I don't typically take the time to write reviews, but this situation was upsetting to my kids even more so than me so I figured I should make a note of it. If I could give zero stars I would. *Side note: Fortunately we immediately went to REI after leaving and found an amazing new bike for my daughter (no big bike shortage there....). My adult daughter and I went into Cycle Loft for the first time today in hopes of purchasing a specific bicycle of a type she'd wanted for years. Brien Fields, the sales manager was simply outstanding. He was friendly, informative and helpful. There were no professional 'airs', no sense that the questions we asked were inappropriate and no hard sells. Instead he was attentive to our needs and in some cases steered us to better options, not necessarily correlated to price. My daughter bought her bicycle and some accessories to go with it. I found this place by sheer chance---did a quick Google search for "bike shop near me" and it popped up. I had picked up an e-bike ordered online at the FedEx location a half mile down the road, and after assembling it in the parking lot discovered a scraping sound I couldn't fix myself. Having been through more than one cycle shop with pompous, rude, and predatory-pricing employees, I was wary so I called them up first and asked for a ballpark estimate as to what the fix would cost. The person I spoke to on the phone was perfectly nice and reasonable, so I took it over there pronto. Came in, stood in line at the front cashier for about 5 minutes until I noticed the "Service" sign further back behind him, and took my back there---in that instance a bit more attentive customer service would have been much appreciated instead of making me wait to figure it out for myself, but oh well I keep my expectations very low when walking into any bike shop. (Bike shop sales staff in my experience tend to be almost as bad as car sales staff...just nerdier, lol.) Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the mechanic who took care of my bike, he fixed the problem quickly while letting me stand nearby to watch and even explained what he was doing and why. No slimy "come back tomorrow" spiel where they might do all kinds of needless and unrequested things and charge you out the wazoo for it. I was out of there in about 45 minutes (had him install a front fender too) and paid a very reasonable 20 bucks! If all the mechanics there are like this then this place is a hidden gem indeed! read more

Walked in looking for a bike for my 7yr old, waited at least 20 mins, finally had to flag someone and the guy pulled a bike and made a decision that it's not good fit without even letting my son sit and try it, I left and went straight to Belmont wheel works, got a good brand new bike, thanks cycle loft for making my decziy easier. In the process, they let me know my cassette was near replacement -- which I knew but forgot to ask about -- and asked it I wanted to go ahead and replace it now. No pressure, just a suggestion. I feel compelled to write this review based on the amazing experience I recently had with Cycle Loft. I came in to purchase a Bike for my daughter, and I was immediately helped by a deep and knowledgeable staff. The owner himself took me through all of the best options for my 14 y/o daughter, without any pressure or rushing...despite the fact that he had a whole store to run, on a busy weekend with everyone vying for his attention. We must have spent at least 2+ hours there, and the service level was exceptional throughout...BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE...much, more and the main point of this review. After about a month with this fully kitted, beautiful new master pedal machine in my garage, my daughter maybe took it out twice, maybe three times (yes, wife...you were right). My 12 y/o son on the other hand, has been desperately wanting a new bike. I brought the bike back to the shop, and explained the situation with hat in hand, fully expecting to begin a long drawn-out campaign to exchange the Bike. I was amazed by what happened next. No Attitude, No push back, in fact I got a "No Problem". In my experience with customer service in this day and age, indifferent apathy is the rule of law. Not at Cycle Loft. They worked with us happily, ordered a new frame for my son, retrofitted all the bells and whistles and it was ready a few days later. Net Net: Customer for Life. read more

Terrible place for Trek warranty service or customer good will. We had a couple of kids Trek bikes that we found out were under a Trek safety recall. We called Trek customer support and they told us that they still honored the recall and to just stop by any local Trek dealer for a replacement bike. We found Cycle Loft on the Trek website and since they had good reviews, we went in with the bikes. Well, they were not happy to see us. They first complained about having to do the work to process the exchange because they weren't getting paid by Trek. Well, that's a problem between them and their Trek dealer agreement, not us. They agreed but said it would take 2 weeks because there were "a hundred" people ahead of us. We said OK, no problem, we understand it would take time. Two weeks later, we stopped by for an update and the manager complained again that they were not getting paid for taking care of the Trek recall/replacement and that we should simply be grateful for getting two free replacement Trek bikes. We offered to pay them to switch the accessories from the old bikes to the new bikes but they were still unhappy. They still did not know when the replacement would happen and obviously wanted to do the bare minimum to help us. We called Trek customer support again. Trek customer support was extremely helpful and understanding. Trek ended up having to call Cycle Loft three separate times to get the process moving along. Trek told us that the replacement bikes would be at Cycle Loft within 2 days. True to their word, in 2 days, we had our replacement Trek bikes, no thanks to Cycle Loft. Do you think that if we had a great customer service experience that we would buy other accessories for the bikes? Or when the kids need to get bigger bikes, that we would remember the great experience and buy them from Cycle Loft? Or that we would tell all our friends what a great place Cycle Loft is? I can only assume that they don't care. Note that the bad attitude and service we got were from the manager, not the staff so it is obviously a company-wide policy that if you aren't spending a lot of money with them that day (or have previously), then you aren't worth the effort. Now we tell everyone to go someplace else if you care about customer good will or service. If you are in the area, check out Bikeway Source in Bedford. They actually care about good customer service. Kudos to Trek customer support. They are great and our kids love their Trek bikes. read more

Fantastic service. I have been a Cycle Loft customer for almost two decades. They consistently provide excellent service that far exceeds their competition and even my own expectations, which are already high. I ride 6000+ miles a year and consequently, stuff happens. I can't count the number of times I've come in with a minor issue (broken spoke or cable, etc.) where they fixed the bike on the spot. By comparison. other riders I know with the same or similar issue went elsewhere had to leave the bike. Once the even loaned me a wheel before a PMC when they were out of stock on a part. Their mechanics are all excellent, friendly and extremely customer focused. I can't recommend them enough. read more

Went in there with a friend who was thinking of purchasing a $4K foldable bike that he had researched for four years. Had to stand in a manageable line (due to Covid) but the results were amazing. We had Nathaniel as a sales person. Knowledge of the product we wanted was off the charts. Personality was as if he owned the place ! We knew from the moment they said "who is next" (in the line outside the door) we were in the right place. Could not be happier. Even the follow up call to make sure they were installing the correct add ons, was an indication of the commitment the owner has to his business. By far, New England's Premiere dealer. I get a kick out of the "Kmart" bike people giving this place a 1 star. Go back to Kmart, and Wal Mart and request your service. read more

They don't have any patience. They are too busy and can't multi-task. It seems to me their staff is pretty thin at times. (Just my observation). I wanted something put together and would have left my bike and the other piece I bought. I bought this bike there in the first place in the spring. I was told this other piece was the most popular. A subsequent bike store said they don't sell these. People don't want them. The person who waited on me at Cycle Loft earlier in the day said this model was "iffy". All I could get for assembly was a poor You Tube video. Really? I finally brought the accessory in for a return and was insulted by an email sent to me. This is good business? Not going here ever again. How can one bike store be so helpful and another so rude. Who writes an insulting email back to the customer. read more

I didn't even go inside (covid restrictions) to know this was a five star place. I didn't make an appointment and they were very busy and backed up for 3 weeks for serious repairs. I originally came with a flat to get repaired- The guy named Joe came out and told me everything that was wrong with my bike and was super honest. I'm a novice bike owner and joe was really light and fun about the serious awfulness of a bike that I brought to his bike shop haha. He helped me realized I should get a new bike and it wouldn't be worth the repairs. They were low on bikes to test ride but joe wanted to educate and put me on the best path he could with the time he had and bikes he had around. He provided me with tips, online info, and basics about what to look for for bikes! read more

Short version- terrible service. The guy was obviously trying to sell me on a bike I didn't want, then threw a temper tantrum when I said I didn't want to look at that bike. The sales guy approached me. I told him I was just browsing but had a question about the bike in front of me. He didn't answer my question, but went on a 10 minute long sales pitch. He never answered my question, but tried to get me to come look at a Trek, instead. I told him I wouldn't buy Trek, period. He was like 'just look at 1 thing.' I told him he needed to please speed things along (hint: answer the question I asked, about the bike I was looking at). He threw up his hands, angrily declared 'you need to work with someone else' and stomped off. I follow him and find him telling his coworker to go deal with the rude and difficult customer. If you want a store that's going to hard sell you on whatever bikes they need to move, this is the place for you. read more

I went to see them previous to checking out one of the other dealers in the greater Boston area (Belmont) and came back after barely getting a moment of time or attention from their competition. Everyone from Nate the manager to Adam who spent close to 3 hours fitting my old rod bicycle to transfer specs to my new purchase the level of customer service was exceptional. I needed exhaustive help to decide on the right bicycle road versus touring. I cannot say enough! Very knowledgeable and helpful. I bought my son a rather expensive bmx bike for his birthday and one week later a tree landed on it on a windy day . The damage was extensive and the bike was barely rideable. I brought it in not knowing if it could even be repaired . They fixed it same day!! Within an hour bike was working perfectly if not better and the best part was the repair price .... very reasonable for the time spent to repair the bike. I now have one happy kid . I am a rare complainer but I unfortunately have to make an exception here. My partner spent $3250 on a Specialized ebike here. After its 1st winter and having kept the bike indoors the battery will not take a charge. The bike is heavy and cumbersome so an ordinary carrier and car will not take it. Cycle Loft refuse to collect it (we live 15 miles away) and insist we take the entire bike into them at our cost. So much for customer service on a genuine warranty issue. When I challenged this and suggested that Specialized should pay for collection, this was dismissed out of hand. I've been a keen cyclist for 40 years and will never shop here again. read more

But because they know so much, questions I thought were simple led to a flood of detail and information overload. A week later I called with interest in a specific bike; Steve W., a bicycle technician, was outstanding. I cannot say enough good things about Cycle Loft, and everyone I have worked with there! I went in to get a folding bike in August. I had a good sense of what I wanted, and they explained several options but I ended up buying what I came for. It was quick and easy and I loved this bike... but I loved the folding bike so much that I started looking at Bromptons. Then I learned that the shop will essentially rent a Brompton to test drive for a few days! I ended up going in and talking to Jeff for around 2 hours, and leaving with one option. I rode it for a couple of days, and ultimately ended up buying one, which I am thrilled with. Between both the first and second bike, there have been a couple of tuneups and a couple of minor issues, and their customer service and speed have been amazing across the board. They are always friendly, patient, explain things without being condescending, and help me find the answers I need. This weekend I brought my road bike (purchased elsewhere) in to get the tape re-wrapped on the handlebars. They did it quickly and ultimately didn't charge me for it. Not at all what I expected, and definitely enough for me to raise my raving about their greatness to louder volumes! I am thrilled with the service and guidance I have received from Cycle Loft, and they have definitely earned a loyal customer. Also, the Brompton was totally worth it. read more

Can't say enough about this place. We purchased our bikes here and the owner is so knowledgeable and can easily help you decide what bike is right for you. We also went back to purchase bike/spin shoes because the ones I got on Amazon did not fit correctly. Again the man who helped us...I think his name was Doug, was very knowledgeable and explained the differences between each shoes. He sized me and I've been using my new shoes for a week and a half now and they are fantastic! He also was able to tell us which shoes are good for in and outdoor cycling. If we were to go to any Dicks or sports chain store, I don't think we would have received the amount of help or explanation when purchasing items in the store. read more

BRAND NEW location!! I had the experience to meet 2 of the staff members today. Very diverse age group which is comforting. Beth was a great help! I bought my first "Fat Bike" (not from here) and I needed some new accessories. I told her that I haven't actively been on a bicycle in around 10 years and to act like I knew nothing - because I basically don't since the technology has changed insanely since I was a kid. She helped me pick out new pedals and was very knowledgable. Even found me the right color! Then it was time for a new seat or "saddle" as they've been deemed now, because the one that came on my bike was more expensive, but very uncomfortable. After that she asked me if I had a helmet... Glad she did because I had completely forgotten that was the number one reason I went there. We went over styles, pricing, but not before determining my helmet size and type. During this segment an employee who was off the clock came over and put his personal and professional 2 cents in and was a huge help in finding the right fit and size for me. They didn't have the color I wanted so they offered to order it for me! This place rocks! Good selection, great location, great employees. This is only my first "Fat Bike" so I'll be back once it's time to upgrade! read more

I went in for an annual tune up after having a small puncture in my rear tire. I expressed concerts about front and rear disk rub, alignment, low responsiveness from my dropper post, and obviously the puncture. After two weeks they contacted me about my dropper post being damaged and I would have to purchase a new one for $250. Later that week I picked up my bike to find the brand new dropper post which work well however, my front caliper still had an audible, the true was sub par, and my rear tire was soaked in sealant and leaking in numerous places. After spending over $400 for basically a dropper post and install I will be taking my business elsewhere. read more
