Loved this place so much- I got my bike in October 2020 when supply was low but I found the perfect bike for me! Then when I was having problems with my loose wheel, I brought it in a week ago and they came outside and fixed it right up in 5 minutes, no charge! They are so helpful and kind here, 10/10 recommend. read more

This shop was highly recommended as the place to go for a stuck seatpost. I e-mailed several weeks ago to ask if they could do this repair, I received a reply that they could, and was given a link to book a service. I booked a service for Monday June 1, the soonest they had available. It didn't occur to me to look at their days/hours, because I had been sent a booking link, and those typically only allow booking when the business is open and has availability. On June 1 I took the afternoon off, biked over from Roxbury, and the place was closed. E-mailed and texted. Received a reply confirming they were closed and blaming the booking company. No real apology, no offer of a discount or anything to make it right, not even an offer to get me in as soon as possible. This is not anything like how I was taught to provide customer service when the business royally screws up and wastes someone's time. EDIT: The owner has now offered me 20% off, though is maintaining that they are confused as to why "the booking company" allowed that booking. The booking link still shows openings every day of the week. Why are you using software that requires contact with a company to make changes rather than the industry standard that lets you make changes to your own availability in your portal any time you want? read more

Called to see if they had bikes for smaller frame people. They told us they had many and to come in. Upon arriving there were no small bikes and they attempted to sell us a bike that was too big and unsafe. There are real bike shops in town with more used bikes than this one. Beware. read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I came in on a whim to see what they had in stock and they happened to have a bike I was interested in. Ryan worked on the bike for a while, without charging extra. He even showed me how to apply oil to the gears and made suggestions for potential fixes to the brakes. Best customer service around! read more

4 stars only because at the time the selection was small. The staff was very friendly and we would trying it again. Getting in and out of the parking lot was a bit of a challenge so don't go during rush hour. read more

There's a reason this place has a perfect score on Yelp... great used bikes, fantastic prices and most importantly an attentive, caring and knowledgeable staff( wait till you meet Brian... great to meet people who love what they do ). From the moment you walk in, you'll feel welcomed. I've purchased two bikes here already and get all my bikes serviced here regularly. Again, top notch! Compared to the many other much more expensive, somewhat pretentious shops in Cambridge & Somerville this place is #1. Now if you're looking for a new bike, this might not be the place for you. Both of the bikes I purchased were used bikes under $400. My main ride was purchased directly from a Cannondale retailer. read more

Having been to a few bike shops in the area and visiting Cambridge Used Bicycles twice, this is hands down the best one! I've had several small repairs done on my bike here. Their prices are very reasonable and the work I requested was done well. Better than that, they recommended other things that could be fixed (without being pushy), and even made small adjustments (like brake tightening) for free without me even asking! These guys aren't here to fleece you, they really care about you and just like bikes! read more

I don't normally write reviews but this place is AMAZING. I went to a couple of bike shops in Boston which were all disappointing but this place really blew me away. I got a beautiful new bike from here and Ryan went above and beyond setting it up for me. Everyone was so kind and knowledgeable. I have been back twice for tune ups and each time I go Ryan takes the time to make sure I have all my bike needs taken care of. I always learn so much when I'm there and appreciate their patience, attention to detail, and down to earth attitude. Favorite bike shop in town hands down. If you need a bike or a tune up go here!!! read more

Cambridge Used Bicycles - Beautiful new bike! - Bikes Near Me - Somerville, Massachusetts

I've been looking for a bike for the last month (calling local bike shops, looking at Craigslist, stalking FB marketplace) and finally found one at Cambridge Used Bicycles. Ryan was super helpful in answering all of my questions, letting me test ride the bike, and adjusting the bike so it fit me perfectly. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend CUB. They did say their inventory is a bit limited and goes quick due to the pandemic so I definitely recommend getting to the shop when it opens. read more

Cambridge Used Bicycles - Excited to ride my new bike - Thanks Cambridge Used Bicycles!! - Bikes Near Me - Somerville, Massachusetts

Poor selection the day I went. Nice people that run the shop though. There wasn't even a bike there I could potentially consider.

This is a great place for used bike parts, new and used bikes, and also service. It seems like an especially useful place if you have a "vintage" bike. I happened to be in the area and needed my bike serviced which is from the 80s and they had an identical part that I needed and they replaced it for me on the spot for an excellent price! They people working there are also super friendly and informative. During covid you take your bike around to the back for service. There are 2 flights of stairs but they can carry your bike for you. read more

Love to Ryan and Spiros. It's even better now that you don't have to go downstairs in the flea market.

I'm not a big review person, but I just truly think this place deserves all of the credit and admiration in the world. Last year I bought a used road bike from Ryan here. He was adamant about me testing it out a few times and wanted me to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. After a few miles of riding I was sure and was happy to find out that they would help with any issues within the first month of owning. I went to them once, and once again Ryan was there to help answer any questions and helped me find things that made my bike more useful while going to and from work. Not to mention he knew I was balling on a budget and always found ways to make it more approachable price wise. Fast forward to needing it tuned up this year and Ryan was there, once again to help out. This guy needs a crown and a day off. He is the literal King here and was amazing. He was drowning in bike maintenance and still took my bike on as well for a full tune up and even helped my poor oxidized chain. He thought he could get it done in a few days, but was super up front up his time frame and even kept in touch through call and text so I knew when he was actually done and I could pick it up. He was very considerate of my time and of the importance of me needing my bike back. I can't praise him or this place enough. They're amazing and always super welcoming and helpful. I point everyone in their direction because they truly are the best around! read more

First of all, I know very little about bikes! The crew at Cambridge Used Bikes are all over it to say the least. Ryan and Nick are great guys that know their way around a bike! Nick helped size me to a bike and Ryan gave me all the tips and tricks for maintaining my bike and even the best ways to carry it up and down the stairs to my apartment. Once I paid and started to leave, Ryan ran back out to find me and let me know that he realized my front tire had a tear. They replaced it immediately. Nick even explained to me how to replace my tire, step by step! So, so happy with my purchase. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! read more

Loved the knowledge and enthusiasm from these bike lovers. I needed a replacement tire and attendant noticed that I needed two and he also threw in a couple more things. I certainly appreciated it so much as we shared similar interests. I was a walk-in and the bike was ready within an hour. :) Will be visiting again in the future for sure read more

I just sold three bicycles to Spiros, and was very happy with the way the sale progressed. I rode bicycles for much of my life, but can no longer do so. I nevertheless know a lot about them and their maintenance and repair. When Spiros told me that he needed to include in his consideration of his purchase price for my bicycles the work he would need to do to ensure that the bicycles were in perfect shape and completely safe for resale, that resonated with me. Spiros is also very good at communicating with each customer when there are multiple customers waiting to speak to him. I can't recommend Spiros and his shop highly enough. Alex Murray read more

CUB is a nice local bike shop located at the basement of a building full of antique shops. They are my top choice for bike service. I really like the staff at CUB -- very passionate and knowledgable. At one time my bike's disc brake was making rubbing noise, so I brought the bike to CUB. They immediately recognized that my wheel was misaligned, quickly fixed it for me (no charge!), and showed me how they did it. Apart from service/repair, they also get weekly shipments of used bikes. I'd recommend every bike user around Cambridge/Somerville to visit them for bike service. read more

Staff is very helpful and friendly. The number of bikes is small and hybrids were $400 and up... compared to $100+/- on Marketplace. I'll drive around a bit for $300. read more

Please let me mirror what everyone else said: this place is, indeed, a hidden jem that everyone ought to know about! After I graduated from undergrad in Quincy, I moved up to Cambridge. I remember how excited I was to get a bicycle so I could traverse the city easier. Looking around, I wasn't ready to dish out $800+ on a new bike, nor did I want to bring my clunky Huffy (from when I was 8) up to the city. A friend recommended I check out Menotomy (in the basement of Cambridge Antiques in East Cambridge) and that was probably the best advise I have ever gotten. As I walked down the stairs, I was immediately approached by one of the guys who works there. Sometimes when I am approached like that, I get anxious and nervous because I have no idea what I am doing or what I want. No fear, though, these guys made me feel so comfortable. They were able to answer any silly question I had about the bikes. The selection was great! I still remember walking down the stairs, I had my eye on this beautiful yellow bike. I couldn't be more excited! After riding it around in the back yard, that was the one I wanted! For only $250.00, it was quite the bargain! I believe they offered quite a great deal where if I had any problems, I could take it back and they would look at it; but that was not the case. I proudly road Col. Mustard around Boston and Cambridge for a few years before I retired him for a road bike. Bottom line: you need to go here and check out their selection before going anywhere else. The bikes may be older, but they are amazing. read more

Cambridge Used Bicycles - I got this amazing gem from them! - Bikes Near Me - Somerville, Massachusetts

Menotomy Used Bicycles is the place to go to if you are looking for an old 3 Speed or a bicycle that reminds you of your youth and gets you back on two wheels again. It is located in the basement of the Cambridge Antique Market across the street from Dunkin Donuts which is on the corner of Third Street (pretty much right across from Lechemere Station.) I first met Ed and Vin at the Tweed Ride last year and we been in touch ever since, looking forward to their help and support with this year's Tweed Ride on Memorial Day. They are great guys, and listen to your wants and needs and offer you a selection of vintage bikes to test ride and fall in love with. Just went over there today with my wife who wanted a 3 Speed and she found the perfect one after riding three of them. They give the standard 30 day check up/warranty that all the area shops give. What is nice is their used bicycles are often in the $180-200 range which is lower than most area shops used bikes that are in the $200-300 range. Instead of buying a used bicycle off of CraigsList and getting ripped off (and buying a bike that probably needs a tuneup) check out these guys first. I work in a Cambridge bike shop and when ever people tell me about their want for an old 3 speed, cruiser, or inexpensive 10 speed I always tell them to check out Menotomy and then they always come back later to show me their new bike and to thank me. read more

Great experience.... so happy to find this place so close to the skateboard park. The guys were able to fix every kind of issue with a kids' bike that was damaged from too many, too big jumps. Not only were they awesome with replacing lost parts, repairing tires and chains, but they also took the time to teach my kid how check his tire pressure, and how/how often to check and pump them up correctly. Thank you, Ryan and Co.! read more

I love this place, perfect for second hand parts and as a result they have a very diverse array of spares for your every want and need. Always great service and fair prices! They are quick and friendly and get the job done :)

My 13 year old son was on his way to the skate/bike park and found himself with a flat tire. He made his way to Cambridge Used Bicycles They quickly fixed his bike and off he went. A few hours later, after some time jumping, spinning and up and down ramps with his bike, my son had another bigger bike issue and made his way back to Cambridge Used Bikes. They were busy but managed to fit him in. They treated him as important a customer as an adult. They fixed his bike, gave him some tips and chatted about the bike park. He left feeling important and valued. They have gained his bike business for life. Highly recommend. read more

I originally had a good experience when I went to purchase the bike. A few days later, I attempted to return the bike (I hadn't even ridden it yet). The owner proceeded to tell me all sales were final. The person who assisted me did not inform me of this, and the only evidence of this policy in the store is on a sign in print so small it's barely readable. If this policy had been properly communicated with me, I don't think I would have made the purchase in the first place. read more

These guys are great & I highly recommend them. In the midst of the pandemic we ordered a bike on-line. During assembly it became apparent that a part was missing. We called them, sent a few pictures and they confirmed the part was missing and told us to stop by and they had the part. We did and they were great with both providing the part but also advice and guidance on assembly. Knowledgeable, friendly and great to work with. They're shop is open again and, if you're looking for a bike, they're the ones to help you! read more

I'm not the kind of person that writes reviews. I am the kind of person that reads a lot of reviews and always thinks that I should (and really, really intend to) write a review when I like a place or its services. I say this because I hope it will lend weight knowing that of the fifty plus other reviews I could have written, the service here was so top notch I just had to write a review! I'm a student, on a budget. I used to live in Seattle and when I had a problem with my bicycle I would take it in - mechanics would look it for about a half hour and then usually charge me $20 to $40 to fix the issue. When my bicycle had a serious brake-lockup issue I went to the neighborhood shop. They told it would take them a full day, possibly two to fix it and the minimum I could expect to pay was $110. ($60 dollars of the fee was labor cost) Luckily, before saying yes, I asked for a day to think about it and found Menotomy. I say found because Menotomy is a bit hard to find (as another reviewer said). Its almost buried in the basement of a huge antique store... and I don't think there is a sign. But, that would be its only flaw. As my rusty review writing skills are making this over long I will finish by saying. I walked in. The friendly man at the counter stopped what he was working on to help me. After my explanation, he looked at the bike a moment and said it would be about twenty minutes. Twenty minutes or so later I had my bike back, working great, and he only charged me $20. Twenty dollars! That's ninety down from the $110 minimum my neighborhood shop had quoted me. I tried to leave a $20 dollar tip in relief and thanks and they refused it saying to just write them a review. I now know where I'll go to buy my next bicycle. So, this is my twenty dollar review! (I actually did leave the tip - just with the people up stairs. They deserve it!) read more

This place is definitely a hidden jem that you should try and discover. It's located in the basement of an Antique Market in East Cambridge. They have lots of used bikes that they have obviously spent lots of timing fixing and making available. They let you try any bike that you want and will cater to exactly what you need. Very helpful and listens to what you personally want from the bike. In addition they have very reasonable prices and as a poor college student thats really the most important part. If your looking for a unique used bike for a good price take the time to check Menotomy Used Bicycles. read more

I love Cambridge Used! I have gone there a few times over the years and they are so friendly and always offer a fair price. They are also super knowledgable and clearly care a lot about your needs as a customer! I went there with my boyfriend to get him a bike and they tuned up my bike for free just because it looked like it needed it. I have never felt pressured by them or ripped off, and I definitely have felt that way at other places in the Boston area. I always recommend them to people new in town! read more

I might be this place's number one fan after my experience there two weeks ago. In love! I needed a bike for my commute to work but I didn't want to pay too much. I thought a used bike would be perfect but my venture to find one on Craigslist wasn't working out too well. So Yelp directed me to Menotomy and I had a great experience. Walking into a random antiques stores you'd never guess what's in the basement - about 8 rows of bikes -Ten speeds, 3-speeds, mens, womens, etc. Along with two of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. I had a blast with Ed and Vinny as they helped me find the perfect bike. After trying a couple different bikes out in the parking lot, I finally found the one I wanted. It was tuned up, ready to go, they hooked me up with a lock, and I rode it home. All for under $200! I will definitely be back here for my tune ups and if you are in the market for a used bike, be sure to check this place out. read more

These guys are great. I bought a brand new Sun Fritz from them six weeks ago. Over the weekend, my new front tire ripped open after the first time I pumped it up. I took the bike back, and they replaced the tire with a brand new one at no charge (and fixed some other things that needed tune-up, like a misaligned fender and loose breaks). They have a good range of used and new bikes. Would definitely recommend. read more

Good deal on two commuter bikes. Definitely less expensive than other options in the area. High quality, friendly service as well. The bikes are very nice, but on the first real ride the handlebars on one of the bikes loosened up and made the bike unrideable. Luckily they have a free 30 day warranty and I live close! read more

I had a really great experience here. Spiro the owner is extremely knowledgeable and runs a friendly and helpful shop. The bikes that they restore are usually very good quality frames and they end up having them running like new. I ended up getting a carbon fiber frame bike here, which I didn't expect to find at a rebuild shop. It saved me a ton from buying it new and it is in fantastic shape. As a repair shop, they do most of the basics and tune ups for very cheap, and they have a bunch of used parts around (a barrel of pedals, locks, etc.) which can also help you save a bunch of money. read more

Location: - In the basement of an antique market... so basically I bought my bike and then spent 20 minutes sweatily navigating it through aisles of china and other expensive old things. - Free parking behind the building. Get's a bit crowded on weekends, so we just parked at Cambridgeside Galleria and hustled over. - Bunch of empty lots around for you to test your bike around! Selection: - You're definitely not going to get a shiny new bike here, but you will get one with sound brakes, etc., and a great price. Got my single speed/hippie bike for $125! - The selection really varies based on the season. I had gone at the beginning of the summer, when everybody in Boston and their mothers wanted to buy a bike, so the selection was slim. - Largely fixie/single speed bikes, but if you're looking for something more, then definitely be patient as they get bikes in and out on a regular basis. If you're looking for a bike without the bells and whistles, then Menotomy is the right place. - Prices range from mid $100s upwards of $400, so can really fit to whatever your budget and needs are. Service: - Vinny's super pleasant - immediately knew I was a wary biker newbie, sized me up to the right size frame, and let me putter around and try out bikes. He ever offered us help on shoving it into our too small car. Never felt like he was ripping me off. - 30 day warranty on your bike (will fix anything but flats) read more

I am not exactly a bike expert and walked into this place knowing that if I admitted that, I might get "bamboozled" by the guys in there. Then again, it was better than faking it so I was honest with them and thank goodness I was! I got REAL sales service, meaning nobody was trying to sell me something I didn't need and understood I was on a budget. I learned a little more about bikes and felt much better about my decision to replace my gas guzzler with a bike (with only a 7 mile commute to work one way, it seemed to make sense). I also know that if anything goes wrong, I can go right back to these guys and they will make it right. Thanks guys! read more

I have several British vintage 3-speeds and found they are the best shop for finding rare parts and for repairs. I describe to them, often not knowing the correct name of a rare part I am looking for, and they know what it is. If they don't have it in their warehouse, they know where to order it from. Prices are lower than elsewhere. It's a real workshop, don't expect shiny interior design. I like real workshops. Also, some bike shops are run by young men who are condescending to older women. Not these guys, they listen and speak at eye level. They are real bicycle people. read more
