QT Nails & Spa is one of the best nail salons in McHenry. Originally I started going because they were open on Sundays which was rare, and I have been going faithfully for over 6 years now. All of the staff is amazing, they're all so kind and skilled at what they do. Each person has their own skill set so it might take you a few times to figure out who can help you the best, but you will definitely leave very happy with your nails. Everyone is very willing to help each other, you will often see the nail techs rotating stations on the busy days to help each other out and it shows how much they care about their customers, they're all trying to make sure everyone is getting a good service. They truly do care that the customers are happy, if you're not satisfied with something or if something breaks, you should always speak up or return to get it fixed, they are always willing to fix something to make sure you're happy. They are all human though and sometimes the salon can get busy but they try to take walk ins as much as possible, and even if it's busy, they at least try to get your feet soaking or your hands wrapped and let you know they'll be with you soon. Dana, the owner, is so talented at what she does, her designs are amazing. If you find a picture of something that you want, you can bring it in and show it to your nail tech and they'll do their best to recreate it for you, and if they can't personally do the design, they'll have another tech come and help just to make sure you get the design that you want. Dana and her sister Queen are constantly keeping up with social media to follow all of the latest trends for nail art and always buying new supplies to make sure they can do the newest designs. They can free style designs on your nails, they've got foils and stickers, a ton of different glitter and cat eye options, air brushing techniques and they'll even mix different elements to get you the perfect color. The color selection is INSANE, they have so much to choose from for no chip and dip, you're instantly provided numerous books of color to choose from and then the techs will get the bottles for you so you don't have to search along the walls. Pedicures here are also top notch, they recently got all new chairs for the pedicure area, including themed chairs for kids. The new chairs have so many massage options and a heat option. They've recently added new pedicure packages so that customers can have a spa-like experience for their feet. All of the prices per packages are listed right away so there's no secret charges which is super important. You're presented with a list of all the packages and allowed to choose, and even after choosing your package, you're then given multiple scents to choose from to make sure you're getting the best experience. QT Nails & Spa is very active on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube. They're always posting videos to showcase the unique nails that customers are requesting to provide inspiration for others. I recommend QT Nails & Spa to everyone, it's the only place I'll go to even after moving. read more

For convenience I stopped at this location to have a fill. It's not my usual place but I thought I'd give it a try. It was very busy. Lots of hustle and bustle. Certainly not a calming atmosphere if that's what you're looking for. I went with a friend and we had wanted to get our nails done together. We were originally sat together which was good. They started with my friend and no one showed up at my station. We did not have an appointment. About 15 minutes later I was told to move to another station which could not have been farther from my friend. The gentleman that showed up to do my nails immediately starts telling me how I need a new set because it is better for you yada yada. I tell him that I'm good and just want a fill. Then he starts pulling at my nails saying how they are separated. Occasionally I have had a nail that needs to be replaced and they just replace the bad one or even just the portion that's loose. Not this guy. To make his point he starts using this knife tool to "show me" how loose they all were but as they weren't really loose he was trying to dig to get the knife in between the nail and the gel. I kept saying ouch and telling him to stop. I've never had anyone use this knife tool before. He seemed determined to upsell me to a new set that I didn't want. The whole experience was unpleasant. The final product was fine but the process - not so much. Today my nails hurt. read more

If I could give them ZERO STARS, I would- I normally never ever put a review up. But this was by far the worst service I'd ever receive at a nail salon, this was not my first time here- I didn't go with my regulars- Kevin/Yoli and I was treated like shit, until Queen made me feet a bit better. I went in for a luxury pedicure: that's supposed to be 45 minutes, the lady (coco I believe) took care of me; already making it seem like I was a bother to her, she has the little boy come by and already START the timer while she's still gathering things and going to get water for herself. Then starts quickly rushing to do my nails, I inform her that I had ingrowns; which she then calls over Queen to help (THANK YOU QUEEN) as soon as Queen finished, this lady (coco) resumes the pedicure; again, quickly applies lotion on my legs as if I was applying moisturizer, no massage what so ever, completely skips the massage stones and starts applying nail polish on my nails while my nails are still WET! Then this kid kept coming up to her and watching every little thing on my feet, hovering over me at one point; personal space please?? Coco Didnt even bother to leave the toe dividers on my feet even after I told her that my toes touch. I still paid for service because nonetheless, Queen still helped me. But the lady and the kids really need to learn what customer service is. Look at how my nails turned out because my toes were still wet and my toes touch. Poor customer service read more

Poor customer service. Sat there for 39 minutes getting a manicure. Did not have one word spoken to me directly, not one! Had to listen to owners kids argue and try to help customers. Asked for a design and was told I didn't need any!! WTH? read more

Not good and not going back I had a manicure and pedicure as soon as you sit down, they hand you which looks like a menu for a restaurant and they want to know what you wanna do. All I wanted was a manicure pedicure that's it so we are done with the pedicure we're gonna do the manicure. I think she could've done better the nail polish put on was too thick so we're all done. She asked for $78 and I had a coupon for 10% of and right away the owner said no that expired and she went on and on I don't understand what they're saying because they speak broken English, but you really couldn't honor a seven dollar coupon? I don't need to go back to your place and on top of that I didn't leave a tip and I really feel good about it. The owner/ manager she needs to keep out of everybody's conversation. She runs the whole place over there. It's like they have to bow down to her. So sad! read more

QT Nails & Spa - Another set I got from Dana - Nail Salons Near Me - McHenry, Illinois

Made an appointment a month in advance. Was there on time for my appointment and it still took an hour and 20 min for my nails to be done because they had me sitting for 45 minutes soaking. Would have walked out if they didn't put foils on my fingers already. Nails don't look anything special. Other guests walked out as well because they were sitting for 30+ minutes. read more

My mom and I decided to try this place for pedicures. Neither of us enjoyed the experience. Both of our techs didn't listen to what we wanted. Mine wouldn't even look at me or speak to me. We both left with way too short nails and pain from them digging in the sides of our nails with sharp tools. Definitely won't be back. read more

I have been going to QT nails for quite some time now, I always asked for Kathy, and she did a terrific job. A few weeks ago, I booked an appointment with Kathy for a redo and dip. When I arrived apparently on the books it showed me as having an appointment for acrylics and a pedicure. After I sat down the owner in front of everyone in the salon very sarcastically yelled to Kathy, I thought you were doing acrylics and a pedicure!!! The technician said no there was a misunderstanding. The owner was literally bullying her, which is totally unacceptable. Then after bullying Kathy the manager came up to me and put her card on the table and said next time call this number. I was appalled that she talked to me like that. As for a next time there will not be a next time. As a result of the actions of the manager they have lost a loyal customer as well as others I told. read more

Really disappointed, I did dip nails and a pedicure and it did not last even 2 days. For paying over $80 I thought they'd take their time and properly do my nails and toes. It was rushed and very unfair. My honeymoon was ruined and it's very upsetting. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else and they can fix this issue. read more

Quilty was terrible never going back. $40 for a 15min pedicure not worth it. goodbye.

My nails broke off after three days after I got them done. The lady was rude and put the electric nail filler on my finger and it left a mark. She didn't even apologize. After that she up charged me for my nails that she didn't even get correct. They were crooked and uneven. They had me switching nails techs constantly. 0/10!! Wouldn't recommend going here!! read more

Wow! That's all that I can say. Many people highly recommend Queen, I was excited to go but wow very disappointed. First $45 for a dip manicure that doesn't include cleaning up your cuticles?? Well okay I guess but I have to ask to clean my fingers really, the topper was her spitting in the garbage can!! Wow just wow! No I will not be back. read more

Picture reflects 1 week after my no chip manicure and it still looks great! I came in on a weekday afternoon (called ahead for an appointment as salons tend to get busy closer to the weekend) and once I got there, I was the only customer- not sure why- environment was nice and soothing. The nail tech was very patient with my indecisiveness and on top of that, friendly. I'll be back read more

A sweet gem of a shop that has many stations and nice people taking care of you. Very happy with the overall cleanliness and attention to detail. No chip manicure looks great. Did I already mention that this is a CLEAN SALON? Sad to say but they are hard to find. Will definitely be back! read more

It takes me ALOT to give a bad review.....having said that I have been going to this Nail Salon for over 2 years and it has gotten progressively worse. They only speak to each other in their language which I think is incredibly rude to do consistently on top of being rough and unfriendly. I get that you speak it once in awhile ok but not the WHOLE time and ignore you and when you try to make small talk they don't respond kindly. I do not feel welcomed at all and they are rude and borderline mean. The quality has gone down the drain as well, my Nails chip and crumble easily. I have never had a hand massage or any lotion even after I asked about it! Would it kill them to greet me when I come in? Hey a smile goes a long way!! After all I am PAYING you and TIPPING you ALOT for this treatment. Maybe they have enough clients now and do not need anyones business? well it was slow today and many times in there. The other women were looking at each other like WTF is going on. I do not recommend this place. Maybe if we start being vocal and it hits their bank account in a negative way it will get their attention!!! read more

My no chip started peeling after 5 days and after calling asking if they could fix they not only fixed the 1 nail they put another coat on the rest so they don't come off sooner than the one that chipped. K was so kind about it and happy to help. read more

No chip pedi with new organic package was absolutely fantastic and so relaxing. Kevin did a great job. Well worth the money. And Rachel did eyebrows. First time ever getting a facial/ head massage after shaping. Absolutely loved my mommy day. read more
