Third time to dine and it hit all the bullet points with high marks. Had a reservation but was running late due to a school bus in front of us with all its stops. Called to say we were running late and the maître d' replied no problem and was very polite on the phone. Arrived and was seated immediately followed by server who could not have been more charming. Ordered a lychee martini and a beer and it came swiftly, ice cold and absolutely delicious. Ordered soup dumplings and Peking duck, server suggested ordering another bao since only 3 comes with on order and it came hot puffy and delish. Duck was juicy with crisp flavorful skin and hit the pallet with a comforting delight. Our server continued to charm us with his contagious smile at the end of the experience! Food was okay, customer service was very slow even though it was not that busy when I was there. We had a reservation & still waited 30 min to be seated. Afterwards, our waiter forgot to bring drinks multiple times & charged us for drinks that we did not receive. My husband and I went recently without a reservation and were seated at the bar. There was only one bartender working for the entire restaurant and he had 5 full place settings of people at the bar. Oh we really enjoyed this restaurant! I was craving dim sum and this hit the spot! We had several different little options for our dinner and each one was outstanding! We only have one restaurant in our home town that offers dim sum, so we make sure to go whenever we travel. Qi Austin did not disappoint. We had both kinds of soup dumplings, the har gow, pot stickers (beautiful presentation!), and the beef bao. They were all phenomenal. The staff were friendly and helpful, the restaurant was clean and beautifully decorated, and parking is in a covered lot attached to the building. Pay attention, the driveway is right before you pass the restaurant, then you go up to the 4th floor and take the elevator down and walk through the lobby into the restaurant, so you don't have to go outside if the weather isn't perfect. read more

What a terrific meal! From the reservation process, to the friendly greeting by the host, to our wonderful server, Pia, and fabulous food, we had a perfect evening at Qi. We love soup dumplings and feel spoiled at home in San Francisco, but Qi may have the best we've ever had! (You may want to ask for a traditional soup spoon - the little bowls they are served with don't work as well as the dumplings stick to the bowl. A minor quibble to be sure.). The other dumplings we tried were also terrific. The hamachi "cheeks" (actually it was the collar, but many people may not be familiar with that name) and sautéed greens were to die for. Qi was so lovely. Went for dinner the night before Thanksgiving and the food was absolutely delicious. The lychee martinis are the best I've had in Austin and the ambiance is warm and comfortable. We tried Qi for the first time last night and we were blown away by the food and the atmosphere. Lin Asian was our go to spot for date night dinners, so I'm really glad they opened another restaurant a little closer to us with the same great tasting meals. We're happy to support our local restaurants! All staff are also wearing masks and you are provided with hand sanitizer at the table. This place is one of the best places ive ever eaten, The shanghai soup dumplings are the best thing I have ever put in my mouth the pork filling is seasond perfectly, the soup inside the dumplings is so amazing and the dipping sauce just goes perfectly with it. The duck is so so good, its crispy, juicy, and delicious, they also give you some bao with is which is like a sweet bread and it is so good. Dont even get me started on the desserts they are so nice and always have the perfect ballence of sweetness, you may even get a chockolate spoon with it. the servis is also amazing the servers are always so nice and they even have a parking garrage so you dont have to drive around down town austin for 30 mins just to find a parking spot where you have to pay for it. Overall I give Qi a 10 out of 10 and I always look forward coming here read more

We had a reservation for Father's Day and had to wait 30 mins for our table. Not the best start. We ordered a bunch of dim sum for appetizers and most were pretty good- soup dumplings, chicken taro egg rolls, beef buns and beef potstickers. The one issue was a couple of the potstickers, the meat was almost raw. Also, we didn't get our drinks until after we finished our apps. Dinner highlights included the Honey Akaushi beef and Salt/Pepper tofu. The one miss was with the Peking duck- the duck was perfect, juicy meat and crisp skin but it only came with 3 steamed buns. The dish really should come with 8-10 so you are forced to pay extra for additional steamed buns -this is after already paying $38 for the entree. Overall the food is great but some service and food flaws. read more

I went to Qi 2 times with my family. First time for brunch and the second time for dinner. We have a better service for dinner then brunch no matter what all the foods are so different on It kinds but also so delicious. I love the wines card. Large choices of international wines and liquors, large list of cocktails. If you are not a wine drinker their cocktails are so amazing ! read more

It just okay, unfortunately. We really love Lin so a bit disappointed. We got the honey beef for our entree, and it was SOOOO SWEET. I literally was fighting to finish one bite. The seafood dumplings were actually really good, and we got scallop "caviar" su Mai. We were fully expecting caviar (cause it's stated on the menu, and mentioned by server) but it's salmon roe, so eh not *technically* caviar. So this was our first dish and it kinda set precedent for the rest of the being. Our cocktails were tasty, but nothing memorable. Maybe we'll give it another shot and just get dumplings/apps how we do at Lin. Service was good, manager is funny. Very pretty space, but hopefully these inconsistencies get squared away with time. read more

Absolutely amazing! Got reservation for 6 people for a Sunday night (was able to book that morning) and were seated in the "private" dining area! Soup dumplings, lobster dumplings, pot stickers, and beef bao for appetizers. Seafood curry, pork belly, and truffle fried rice for entrees. Chocolate mousse for dessert. All mouth watering dishes. Very similar to Lin, just as delicious but Qi has a bigger menu! Will definitely be returning. read more

After tonight, my least favorite restaurant in Austin. Qi, the same price twice the price sibling to Lin, did more than disappoint tonight. They steal. And hide. Like Lin, the dumplings taste of recycled newspaper. And that is their 'best' product. If you haven't eaten real Chinese food and enjoy the bland, soul-less product from this kitchen, please go ahead. Otherwise, suggest you move on. BUT, if you must order, please make sure to check your receipt. This evening, the restaurant, withheld items ordered /paid for, that amounted to more than $100. They use Toast for delivery - so no customer support there. Toast suggests you call the restaurant directly. Called Qi repeatedly for 2 hrs without answer. Finally, got through, and they offered to refund the cost of their 'mistake'. Nothing more, nothing less. No consideration for customer inconvenience or effort to create good will. Perhaps they are too confident none of the West Austin clientele will taste or care. read more

Our first time to the restaurant, was pretty nice, except they sat us right near the kitchen and service station with a pretty open restaurant, after the lunch rush. The food was really good and our youngest (4) loved the sea cucumber dumplings. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the food and we had a great experience, despite where we were placed and the music wasn't too loud and had a nice groove. Then we went back. We were seated in a much better area but this time the service was off and the food was not what we remembered. This is why I am giving the 3 stars. Consistency really makes a huge difference. Also, what we sent back to the kitchen to be boxed up, did not come back to us in the amount we had left over. The half of a bowl of fried rice came back as a 1/4 of the bowl. Plus our server seemed frazzled and took awhile to get back to us and refill drinks. Going to give this place some time before we come back. read more

With the nice appearance and decor of this restaurant indoors and the prices on the menu, we really thought it would be upscale food...but instead, the taste is no better than the quality of food you would find in a 90s Chinese buffet restaurant or any other fast food Chinese spot.
