Parking - DT Street parking, nearby parking garages Ambiance - Excellent for couples, date nights, small group casual dinning. Service - Great and attentive, even had a lady that worked there - come check on you; that is not your waitress. Food - Great presentations in general, delicious while mindful of the allergies and/or dietary restricted. In addition, creative yet, staying aligned to the Chinese authenticity! Prices - Def not on the faint wallets as you can tell it is tailored more to the visitors/DT crowds. Overall, I would give it a 4 stars - What could tailor it to a 5 start experience is it offered Opera singing that is true/close to what the vibe depicts (A Chinese opera singer). Perhaps play some chinese opera song or even the infamouse Teresa Teng. Also, provide your wonderful tin cup as a souvenir like a desert as a complimentry gift to show the Chinese hospitatlity. A++++

I met a couple of friends here last week for an early (before 5pm) get together that I thought was a happy hour, but turns out they don't have happy hour so we paid regular prices. The place reminded me of Ling Wu in the Grove area because the decor looked similar. Maybe they are owned by the same people? Firstly, I was impressed with the fact they had a FREE parking garage nearby since this is in the downtown area and next to Whole Foods. It took me a bit to find it as I'm directionally challenged, but I did and was just running a bit late. We really enjoyed the food and cocktails. I got the Singaporean noodles, a mezcal drink, and a sake. The serving size was big so I had plenty to take home. We shared many of the other dumplings and dim sum items. Everything was very good! The place wasn't too crowded so after we paid our bill we sat around for a while longer to chat and catch up. Usually someone would come by to see if we needed or wanted anything further, but no one did so we kept chatting and left. I'm happy to know of a central location with easy parking as a future place to meet people. I wish they had a happy hour because the bill for 3 of us was unexpectedly higher than usual.

My partner was craving Chinese food, so we looked up Qi Austin on Yelp. We gave them a call ahead of time to ask if we needed reservations and to get a sense of how busy they were since we were only 20 minutes away. The person who answered the phone mentioned that it tends to get pretty busy, but didn't share much else and seemed a bit brusque. Despite that, the pictures of the food looked really tempting, so we decided to give it a try. Parking was a breeze. We parked across the street in the Whole Foods lot because we planned to do some grocery shopping afterward. As we walked in, we were given the option to sit on the patio or just sit at the countertop. We chose to sit inside at the countertop. We ordered Peking duck, honey beef, and hot and sour soup. I also went with the braised ox tail. The hot and sour soup looked very flavorful, but to me, it tasted more like water with just a little hot oil on top. The Peking duck had a good flavor to the meat but the skin wasn't very crispy. The braised ox tail was so tough to chew that I had to send it back. I make the same dish at home with star anise and shaoxing wine but I cook mine for 48 hours on a lower simmer and the ox tail always falls off of the bone. This oxtail at the restaurant was too tough to ever fall off of the bone with ease and there was no tenderness to the meat. We also ordered the mango bomb dessert which was the best dish of the night. The orange flavored chocolate spoon worked really well with the mango bomb's delicious flavors with the edible flower petals and raspberry flavored crumbles. I could eat the dessert all day long. Altogether, the quality of the food is not as good as its presentation. Yes, dessert ended on a high note and that is probably what the restaurant hopes that people would remember as they leave so that they forget the earlier dishes that looked great, but didn't taste so great.

An elevated Chinese food spot. I was craving soup dumplings one evening so we stopped here for dinner one night with our pup to sit on the patio. The soup dumplings ($14) are REALLY delicious. The Beef Chow Fun ($26) is also really great and comes in a huge portion. The interior looks absolutely luxurious. Staff are very friendly :)

Went to Qi for dim sum brunch and overall had a really enjoyable experience. Qi is know for combining western and traditional Chinese cuisine by using local organic farming. Did not have a reservation on this occasion, but they always make me feel welcome and manage to fit us in. Sat on the outdoor covered patio that was cool and shaded. The atmosphere is modern and lively, making it a great spot for a weekend brunch. Started the meal with cocktails including Lycheetini with Deep Eddy Vodka, Giffard Lichi-li. lemon, cranberry, I cut the cranberry. Also had a Fresa Paloma with Socorro Reposado Tequila, Contratto, strawberry, lime, grapefruit, five-spice that was very sweet and garnished with a flower. You are given a card where you can mark your dim sum selections. I ordered the Shrimp Pancake, Snow Crab Ball and Chinese Sausage Sticky Rice. The standout was the shrimp pancake that had a really great texture and flavor. The snow crab ball had a strange texture with shrimp surrounding the snow crab claw. The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. The presentation of the food is amazing and everything came out hot and fresh. The flavors were on point, and you can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. Service was attentive outdoors and the pacing of dishes felt just right for a relaxed brunch. This restaurant is truly a gem whether you come for brunch or dinner service. Will definitely be back.

A large group of us came for dinner - the ambience is super fun, modern, and vibey! Service was prompt, friendly, and accurate. As for the food - everyone loved their dishes! The flavors were spot on and delicious. The only challenge we had was that they would not allow split checks or at least partially split checks - so we spend a huge amount of time figuring out what everyone owed. I wouldn't do a large group here in the future, but I'd definitely come back for a date or small group.

So glad we went here! We stopped by for drinks and appetizers on a Friday evening, and they seated us on the patio right away. Even though it's July, the patio felt nice with the shade and fans. We ordered the beef bao buns, soup dumplings, and pork belly. Both the drinks and the food were delicious. We would definitely come back!

I dunno whatsamatter with me but I apparently have failed to review Qi (pronounced Chee) before now. Perhaps because we are always visiting in transit through Austin. We've dined here for lunch I think five times now. And we will NEVER visit Austin w/o a stop here. LOL. Our server on our first visit was Danny and he again attended to us this visit this week. He is absolutely wonderful. He is managing this store now. This is one of the most enjoyably attractive restaurants ever as you can see from all the pics here on Yelp. Qi's dumplings are on the upper levels of heaven side of divine. Try the shrimp har gow dumplings. The egg drop and hot and sour soups are exceptional. We love the salt and pepper shrimp but this week we splurged for the Honey Akaushi Beef at lunch. Oh my word. Fork-apart tender cubes of savory beef with grilled onions in a honey, black pepper sauce to die for. It will be a challenge to considerer ever looking at the menu again as long as the kitchen is doing this dish. Qi has the most wonderful chopsticks. They're beautiful and so enjoyable to use. I bought two pairs our first visit and I take them to use at Chinese and Japanese restaurants here at home! LOL. Free garage parking in the same building. What is not to love about this restaurant?

Came here with a group of coworkers and we sat in a private room upstairs. The ambiance of the whole place is very upscale, and late on a Monday night it was relatively busy. The food was good, could use a little more flavor. The presentation and service were outstanding, and the drinks and cocktail selection was fantastic. Overall, Id say, great place for a corporate function when you are not footing the bill and can try a lot of things on the menu, to find what you like most. My favorites were the duck and flat noodles. Oddly, the restaurant does not have an espresso machine, which was a bummer for some of our coworkers who wanted a little boost after a long day and a filling meal.

I hosted my 30th birthday party here and I don't think it could have gone any better! Seemless booking for 14 and we were stationed in a room above the restaurant which was gorgeous! Attentive service and fast food and drinks! Everything came out hot and perfect!!!! This was my second time hosting an event here but my first time with such a big group! We were able to split the check evenly which I informed my guests of before hand! I couldn't imagine hosting anywhere else!!! This is the best restaurant in Austin !!!!

Qi Austin has serious style -- it's like dim sum went to finishing school and came back with impeccable manners and great taste. We started with the soup dim sum, which was soothing and refined, like a comforting whisper of flavor. Then came the Crispy Sea Cucumber Har Kaw, and wow. Easily the star of the show -- crispy on the outside, tender and shrimp-like on the inside, with a sauce so good I briefly considered licking the plate. (I didn't. But I thought about it.) The duck pancakes were also quite good -- rich, flavorful, and beautifully presented. But while everything tasted fresh and well executed, there was a certain "something" missing to push it into five-star, write-home-to-grandma territory. Maybe a touch more warmth, or just one more standout bite. Still, Qi has its act together -- refined atmosphere, attentive staff, and dishes that make you feel a little fancier than you really are. Four stars, but very solid ones. I'll be back... probably dreaming about that har kaw the whole way there. And be careful, they close from 2:00-4:00!

Oh my! Where do I start? Drinks? Amazing. Food...we totally overate because it was all soooo delicious. We sampled the dim sum and appetizers as well as the drink menu. Nothing disappointed us! Our waiter, Alessio, was fun, knowledgeable and made great recommendations. Overall I give this place 5 stars from start to finish. We will be back to try more of the delicious menu! Also, get the soup dumplings!!! Both of them. If you enjoy seafood, the crab soup dumplings (not pictured because I gobbled them up) are absolutely decadent. Yum! read more

Review is for takeout. Over priced and gave small amount of rice for 3 entrees that were also not filled well. For paying $25-$30 an entree that's pretty lame. Food was just okay on top of that but I am used to great Asian food coming from Houston :-) read more

Cute place with nice ambiance. The truffle fried rice was underwhelming, not freshly shaved truffles and only came with 3 small pieces of truffles. It was the least favorite dish at the table. The espresso martini was different and good. Overall, would eat here again. read more

I was on yelp looking for Rice Noodle Rolls in Austin (still looking) and as I was reading reviews I thought I would check out Qi's reviews because I know it well. i travel a lot and when I get back to Austin it is normally my first stop. For those of you who know Dim Sum I will go on record that my measuring stick Is Din Tai Fun. I believe it is the only Michelin rated dim sum restaurant in the world. And No there is not one in Texas. They originate from Singapore and now have locations in Vegas and California. But back to why I am here....I first went to Lins; Qi's sister restaurant less than a mile away. It is equally good but more rustic dining area. Sonny is the manager at Qi, if you dont know him him comes off a bit aloof maybe even a bit rude but I assure you he is a fantastic guy. My orders are typically the Shanghai Soup dumplings, Har gas Shrimp, Beef Pot Stickers, Lobster dumplings. My wife loves the signature salad. Any of the salt and pepper dishes are great. I go here strictly for the Dim Sum and rarely have the entrees but have had several and I have no complaints but I tend to over order the dim sum that is FANTASTIC. i was reading somebody hated the House Special Combination Fried rice in their review and that is what drove me to write a review. One night while with a group we were served somebody else's Fried Rice and since we were all sharing we had already started eating it before we realized it wast ours. Best mistake ever, I now order it if I am extra hungry because it is fantastic. Parking Tip: Free garage parking above the restaurant in ramps garage, elevator opens directly in lobby where restaurant entrance is. If you have doubts about the authenticity of this place sit at the back bar. It is a glass window into the kitchen so you can watch them make the dumplings. It is mesmerizing. currently my favorite place to eat in Austin read more

The atmosphere and service was amazing. During covid, all guests were seated spread out, only closer tables when it got busy. However all the tables were located 6ft apart. The food came out quickly, hot and steamy! I have high standards for dim sum and Qi puts a slight tweak to traditional items and it was delicious. I would prefer Qi over other dim sum in and around Austin. read more

One of the best Dim sum Chinese restaurants we've eaten at EVER. Better than those we ate in China, as well as many other places. They have unique tale on various traditional dim sums as well as more 'standard' Chinese food like fried rice and sesame chicken. Lastly desserts were pretty and to die for taste wise read more

Dim Sum Brunch yesterday was lovely! We Used Resy to book outdoor patio space in advance. Four adults, two children, one dog. We all fit just perfectly in a large front patio table and felt safe with social distancing between other tables. The staff wore masks & gloves at all times. Soup & Lobster Dumplings were by far our faves. Pork & Shrimp Sui Mai was the runner up. Not a single dish we didn't like. Nice selection of unique & classic cocktails. Our party all felt Qi dim sum was better vs Wu Chow. Beautiful decor inside & the fancy bidets in restrooms are a nice touch :) Overall they offer a high end dining option without being pretentious. My only 2 callouts 1. Not much selection of basic "kid friendly" items for like tofu or rice dishes brunch. So older kids should do just fine, but this may not be your best bet if you need to bring smaller kids. 2. The staff was very attentive & professional, but conversation was limited and answers to menu questions very short. Again nothing negative here, just don't be offended by the lack of jolly banter from your server - they are focused on bringing out multiple hot dishes of fabulous food :) read more

Felt attacked and ashamed by the server there, who gave us (me and my friend) a big lecture after our meal about what is reasonable as a tip for the service I felt was not at all worth even tipping a single dollar. During our entire duration, we felt rushed into dining and got charged a pretty big chunky bill for just one starter & 2 entrees. Our experience has made us feel really regretful of dining there and will make sure will not dine in there ever again! read more

Qi was AMAZING! We loved it so much we've gone back! Which is quite a drive for us out in farm country. The staff is so friendly, the decor is beautiful, and the food is the highlight!! Probably the most expensive dim sum I've had but it was SO GOOD. The Shanghai soup dumplings are a MUST. We ordered 5 ordered for our table of 8. It was that good. We also ordered bok choy, chicken feet, shrimp har kaw, crab meat fish soup dumpling, scallop caviar sui mai, snow crab ball, lobster dumpling, and vegetable dumpling. You could definitely pass on both the lobster and vegetable dumplings. The lobster was not worth the price point and the vegetable dumplings were not tasty. The snow crab balls were also $15 for only 2 balls. They were good but not worth the price point either. Overall, I would definitely come back. Highly recommend. read more

This place was extremely disappointing. What made it worse was the price of the dishes. $13 dollars for 5 pork soup dumplings meanwhile the $4.99 boxed soup dumplings at Trader Joe's is much better. The truffle fried rice tasted like fried rice with egg which was pretty bland. The Asian chicken was the best dish we ordered but the amount of chicken on the plate, it seemed like it was more like a Cornish hen. This place is definitely more on par with PF Chang's. If you're looking for a less greasier Chinese take out in a fancy place for triple the price, this is definitely the place you'd want to eat. read more

Came for brunch with a girlfriend after a night of partying- and it was exactly what I needed for my hangover! We ordered too much food because we wanted to taste everything but it was worth it. My favorites were the shrimp cilantro dumplings, the lobster dumplings, beef baos, potato and shrimp balls, sautéed bok choy, Shanghai soup dumplings. Surprisingly the only thing we thought was just okay was the pork and shrimp sui mai. But it was totally fine, we ate all of that too. There was still so much more on the menu that I wanted to try but couldn't because there was only two of us so I definitely cannot wait to go back. read more

Qi is a new restaurant in downtown Austin. Great location and the parking is free and plenty. Very clean and nice ambiance. The service is excellent and you will need a reservation, especially on Fridays and weekends. All the times on the menu are delicious and the food is served as soon as it is ready so all the dishes arrive hot. You can't go wrong with any dishes and the menu is just perfect (not hundreds of items to sift through). It is a bit pricey, but overall I highly recommend giving Qi Austin a try. read more

Dined in on New Years Day. We originally tried to go to Lin's but they didn't have any reservations available. To our surprise, we didn't even know it was a sister restaurant until we sat down! They only had availability outside which was fine because they had heaters. We ordered both types of soup dumplings (fish and classic) which were delicious! We also had the seafood chow fun which was very different than your typical seafood chow fun, but piled high with a variety of seafood. The noodles were cooked to perfection! In addition, my husband and I enjoyed a Vietnamese style vegetable that tasted like wilted lettuce, but was seasoned well. Lastly, we had the most eye catching dessert I've ever had! A chocolate mousse type with a clear gelatin surrounded by a literal ice igloo! (See photos) it looked stunning! And even tasted great! I highly recommend this restaurant! read more

We had a wonderful lunch that consisted of several types of dumplings, the house fried rice, and the roasted duck pancake. All of them were very flavorful and so fresh. We ended with a fabulous Melon Ball that had several layers that included a delicious sponge cake. Be sure to try everything on the plate because the golden chocolate spoon and decorations are equally enjoyable. The service and ambience are both delightful and added to the incredible food. Terrific food and service. We did dinner and will be back for Dim Sum. The outdoor patio is directly on W 6th, so be prepared for the tourist transportation and sirens to interrupt your conversation. Big city ambiance. Inside is very nice and much quieter. Dinner portions are large and appetizers and salads are great. Next time we do dinner, we'll get appetizers and share an entrée. Sharing is expected and extra plates are already on the table. One minor complaint, and that may be about Yelp not the Restaurant, You will not get out of there at two $s. We booked a reservation one week ahead with high chair in celebration of Chinese New Year. We came this morning with no high chair. They serve family style but not family friendly. Manager is no help either with his attitude. After spending $300 for their overpriced dim sum I do NOT recommend this restaurant. Food is so mediocre. Lin restaurant and Qi restaurant has same owner. Wow! What a struggle for me. Couldn't decide between 4 or a 5 but ultimately I decided on a 5. Why I thought it was a 4 - soup dumpling was stuck to the paper and wouldn't come off without ripping, which led to the soup leaking. However... We sat at the bar. And the bar service was amazing. The bartender was nice, quick to respond. Don't know about the table service but bar service was top notch. The food was freaking amazing. I had the lobster dumpling, pork and shrimp sui mai, cilantro shrimp dumpling, steam bbq pork bun, and the zha jiang noodles in addition to the soup dumpling and all were fantastic! Its a bit hot so gotta watch before eating not to burn the roof of your mouth but amazing. And promptly came out one after another so there was no break between each dish. The Sichuan Deep Fried Chicken was hard to stop eating, but we had to because we had entrees coming! Looking young has the faults of being forced to sit at the bar with open tables and having to listen to a guy flirt with the bartender. No one cares if you're from Florida, or if a band makes you think of your ex. Terrible service, food mediocre there's better dim sum, more polite & taste eh. I would have loved more heat! - Steamed BBQ pork buns: the buns were steamed well and the pork filling had the perfect sweetness The vegetables that came with the various rice dishes were all cooked well and were very fresh! The portion sizes were large so there was enough to take home for leftovers. The dumpling dough was a little thicker than I would like for the soup dumplings but the flavor was really good. THE VERDICT: I'm happy I tried Ugly Dumpling and enjoy the variety they offer for dishes! I think it's a good spot to share a bunch of dishes with your friends or family. I would go back if I'm really craving dumplings or other Chinese dishes but I'm not going to rush back or recommend it to others as a "must try" in the Austin area.

I honestly haven't had sushi of this quality since I lived in Los Angeles or spent $500 on lunch at Uchi! The fish here is incredibly fresh, and the quality is outstanding, especially for the price. The salmon and tuna literally melted in your mouth, and the blue crab hand roll was my absolute favorite! Everything we ordered was delicious. You can really taste the difference when a restaurant uses high-quality ingredients. The service was just as wonderful. Everyone was genuinely friendly and welcoming, and our server even told us to come back for happy hour, when select items are 50% off! Are you kidding me?! With sushi this good, you better believe I'll be back, probably this week! If you love excellent sushi but don't want to spend a fortune, this place is absolutely worth visiting. They didn't hold together, the sauces were either too sparse or overwhelming, and temperature and texture felt careless. Service: 3/5 Servers were attentive when we wanted to order more, but they took away a cocktail that wasn't finished. The food runners rushed, and we frequently ended up helping clear the table to make room, which was odd but likely a symptom of how tight everything is in there. We then waited another 15 minutes before flagging someone down for the check. The pacing was inconsistent for a restaurant at this price point. Ambiance: 3/5 (indoor) It's crowded, and tables are seated very close together. Cutting back on the decor for a bit more space would help. Standouts - Loved everything with blue crab. This is a great place to have an elevated dinner but not a great place if you want to eat real Thai food. Thank you to the workers for supplying us with a very nice experience.
