The Taco Bell Cantina in Silver Spring is like a warm, cheesy hug that never ends--literally,…read morebecause it's open 24 hours. You could walk in at 3 p.m. for lunch or 3 a.m. for "life decisions" and it's ready for you either way. The place is always clean--like, suspiciously clean for a 24-hour spot. Even the restrooms are spotless, which is either impressive or proof they hired a bathroom wizard. The staff is super nice, though I think they could use more people working (probably a management thing, because no one making bean burritos at 2 a.m. deserves blame). Now, the magic here is that they serve alcoholic beverages. Yes, you can pair your bean burrito with a Baja Blast spiked just enough to make you feel like you're starring in your own taco commercial. And they just dropped a new Baja Blast flavor, so obviously I'm going tonight to do important "research" for my next review. Food-wise? Bean burrito--amazing. Taco Supreme--amazing. Crunchwrap--amazing. The nacho cheese sauce? A love language. You can customize everything, which means if you want extra beans, three types of cheese, and a dramatic amount of sour cream, they'll make it happen without judgment. In conclusion: Dear Taco Bell Cantina, I love you. Never change. Unless it's to add more Baja Blasts, in which case... please change immediately.

The Kensington location is store front while Glenmont is two trailers. When I think of a "food truck" I think of a very basic operation, go to the window, order food and wait. But Don Perez has on-line ordering, both an order and a pick up-up window and plenty of outdoor seating. I've only had the tacos because If given the opportunity I will order a taco. I love their chicken taco, the meat is shredded and flavorful and not overly spiced. I don't know what they do to the shells but they add so much. They are more soft than crunchy and are more than just a dull wrapping to hold the meat in. The tacos we order don't come with cheese but do have some crisp vegetables, I'd never thought of putting radish on a taco before, but now I'll never turn back. Of course, there is also a small container of green sauce and a wedge of lime. Not sure if it's included but we always make sure to have some pico de gallo. So happy to have discovered the Glenmont location. It's very near where Richard does volunteer work so I see a lot of taco lunches in my future.

We sat outside on the patio, which is spread out and much quieter. Some place in the DMV charge for chips and salsa (which I hate), so I was very happy that they had included chips with a delicious and light house made salsa. We both ordered a combination platter and were pleased with our dishes. They definitely qualify as Tex mex, with generous sides of beans and rice. I'd love to come back on a beautiful day and sit outside on the patio and get some good drinks next time! They have a big menu that I'd love to try.

I wanted to sub the salad for a side of fries. When the food came, and I will say it was a pretty long wait time, a little under an hour, I pointed it out to the waitress and she had no problem bringing me the fries while letting me keep the salad. The salad itself was a bit plain, but it had a fresh, crisp taste to it which paired nicely with the heavy steak, so I can't complain too much. The rice and beans are classic, nothing that's going to blow you away, but still good and exactly what you'd expect. Outside of the food, I found the location pleasant. Trying to find the entrance was a bit more difficult than I would've liked since it's on the side of Georgia Avenue, but once you get inside, the tables and seating were nice. There were also a couple TVs in the back playing a live soccer match, which was a nice touch even if you can't hear much of it. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're ever in the area.

Overall, I thought the prices were fine. For my order I went with the family deal A (I'm not sure what it was actually called) which included six pieces of chicken with two sides for about $21. Although I thought the chicken was pretty good, I was expecting to be blown away based on reviews that I've seen regarding the Jollibee brand. While the breading did not have much seasoning (for my personal tastes), I thought the chicken excelled in its 'juiciness'. From my experience, it's very arre for friend chicken restaurants to have falling off the bone fried chicken. YUM Customer service was pretty direct in that I did not really have a significant interaction with the staff. I placed my order through the kiosk and waited about 10 minutes for my order number to be called. Although I ordered my food to go, I thought the restaurant was very clean and well-maintained with plenty of seating. Since the restaurant is located near the Westfield Mall, there was plenty of parking, which is rare in this area. While I would not go out of my way to grab fried chicken from here, it is decent option for quickly picking up something on my way home.

If you're a fan of their menu, you'll likely enjoy it just as much here. I also tried the Ube Pie, which had a crispy exterior and a sweet, creamy filling that made for a nice dessert. The biggest downside was the cleanliness. The dining area could have been better maintained, and the bathrooms in particular were noticeably dirty. It took away from the overall experience and made the restaurant feel less inviting. The food delivered the familiar Jollibee experience, but the condition of the restaurant kept this visit from being anything more than average. I'd come back for the food, but I hope they put more attention into keeping the restaurant and restrooms clean.
