I had an excellent dinner here with a friend! When we saw how busy it was, we knew we were in for a good meal! They have a large inside seating area that gets a little loud. We sat outside on the patio, which is spread out and much quieter. Some place in the DMV charge for chips and salsa (which I hate), so I was very happy that they had included chips with a delicious and light house made salsa. We both ordered a combination platter and were pleased with our dishes. They definitely qualify as Tex mex, with generous sides of beans and rice. I'd love to come back on a beautiful day and sit outside on the patio and get some good drinks next time! They have a big menu that I'd love to try. read more

I ordered the "Steak A La Salvadorena" and while the steak itself was tasty, moist, and tender, I did have a few issues with the order. First off, they got my order slightly wrong. I wanted to sub the salad for a side of fries. When the food came, and I will say it was a pretty long wait time, a little under an hour, I pointed it out to the waitress and she had no problem bringing me the fries while letting me keep the salad. The salad itself was a bit plain, but it had a fresh, crisp taste to it which paired nicely with the heavy steak, so I can't complain too much. The rice and beans are classic, nothing that's going to blow you away, but still good and exactly what you'd expect. Outside of the food, I found the location pleasant. Trying to find the entrance was a bit more difficult than I would've liked since it's on the side of Georgia Avenue, but once you get inside, the tables and seating were nice. There were also a couple TVs in the back playing a live soccer match, which was a nice touch even if you can't hear much of it. Overall, I'd recommend this place if you're ever in the area. read more

The restaurant was super popular and busy on a Friday night. I ordered food togo and had a drink there. my drink was good, very large. i ordered steak/shrimp/chicken fajitas, some al pastor tacos, and shrimp/crab enchiladas all items came with rice i don't remember it coming with beans?? but anyway the meat was ok and the rice tasted like minute rice from the bag so that was disappointing. there was a habanero salsa that made my food more edible. maybe since im from Cali Maryland may just not know good mexican food, but i was confused because the place was busy and looked culturally in tune. wouldn't come back here due to the food but my server was nice read more

The food was presented beautifully, really fresh and a generous portion. The atmosphere is family friendly and the staff is first class.

This is a really great Mexican restaurant... It's busy and it's loud, but the food is good... The services is good as well... I'd say it's really good for a celebration... read more

We had a blast and believe we have found our "regular spot" to go get Mexican!! We loved the service and the food was delicious! The margs hit the spot for the sunny day and we have definitely gotten food from here as a pick up, so it was nice to have a sit down this time! The special touch that made me feel great as a mom was that they brought out my baby's beans first.. so that way I could feed her before our food came! That meant mama got to enjoy margs and enchilada while Baby hung out. read more

I genuinely cannot believe how many good reviews this place has. I can only assume that the people who enjoy this restaurant are white and/or have never had authentic Mexican (Tex-Mex or otherwise) in their lives. I've always said photos of the food on the menu is a bad sign and I've yet to be proven wrong. The food was bland and painfully inauthentic. Meat choices were literally 'chicken' or 'beef'. Not carne asada, not barbacoa, not even steak; just "beef". Ordered the guacamole and it came as a bowl of half guac, half sour cream! Okay, you're not understanding the gravitas of that. It was a bowl half completely full of sour cream. Like probably a full container of sour cream was emptied into that bowl. It was absurd. Anyway. I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that if you are looking for authentic, good Mexican food, DO NOT COME HERE. Service: Mediocre. Ambiance: Dark with linen tablecloths, not sure why. Didn't match the food, that's for sure. read more

*decor was very low lit & pretty- fine dining aesthetic but there was so dress code & they were singing happy birthday at certain points. *service was good. Host was very professional. Had a little difficulty communicating at some points w server but we figured it out (wanted to make sure no nuts were in dish due to allergy). *food was fine/good. We need the opportunity to try more than just appetizers. This time we stopped for drinks and a few bar snacks. We ordered two small fried dishes and would like to come back to try a healthier & more elevated option! *cocktails were presented very beautifully (we got the flight that had mango, coconut, passionfruit and strawberry). Definitely on the sweeter side but so tasty! *bar looked small from around the corner but then realized it extended to the hallway that leads to the restroom. It has ample seating. We enjoyed our experience and want to come try what else this place has to offer! Such a lovely location situated close to our new area! read more

I am sooo happy to write this review. I had such an amazing experience at El Aguila Joshua our Bartender was amazing. He was very outgoing, welcoming, attentive, kind and down to earth. We had such an amazing time and my sister's drink was the best!! Even though he has just been there for 5 days, we hope you stay at El Anguila for a long time. Thank you for the way you welcomed us today. The food was amazing. We order "Camerones A Ajillo and Wings. My sister ordered Catalac Margarita .The ambience was so welcoming and we truly had such an Amazing time. Thank you Joshua for making this so special for us. And the music hit my heart they played one of my favorite songs "Oceans" a Christian song in Spanish. I'm so happy we got to enjoy this time beautiful time at El Anguila read more

My wife and I have been here a few times. In the door it's clean and pretty with a very friendly vibe. The menu has great choices and the staff are all friendly and attentive but honestly, the food is just mediocre. Tonight I ordered beef Tacos and they were literally just cut steak rolled in a tortilla, no sauce, no cheese. They did give me a very small side plate of pico, sour cream and a dollop of guacamole. We will be back again for sure to try something else. read more

From "soup to nuts" - the service, the ambiance, and the location (close to me - less than 4 miles), are perfection! The meals are authentic - tasty, served in copious amounts (GREAT portions), and I love their Margaritas! The menu is hefty, and my goal is to have EVERYTHING they offer - a serious bucket list item, people. Not joking! One of my absolute favorite foods is Chile Relleno.I fell in love with this dish when I lived in Los Angeles - it was authentic and so delicious! And for over 40 years, I was in search of the BEST in the US. I found it here in Maryland! Surprisingly, it's not an entree. It's a side dish!!!! I am begging the powers that be to please elevate this perfectly cooked and extremely satisfying staple (a delicacy for me) to the main menu, with the customary beans & rice, and maybe pair it with a choice of tacos (corn or flour tortilla)! I've ordered this as an "all sides" meal just to get that beautiful experience I had way back in Los Angeles, many moons ago! El Aguila never disappoints! We've had the enchilada combos and the fajitas - 10 out of 10! So many more dishes to taste, so little time! My husband, friends and I enjoy this restaurant immensely! I'm so glad they're nearby! read more

Cute neighborhood spot. Very lovely and busy. Service is super prompt and diligent. Good was satisfactory. I enjoyed their Lomo Saltado and my friend tried their Chimichanga. Their drinks were really good (and strong (extra stars)). I tried the spicy/jalapeño margarita, and my friend got their regular margarita. Their chips and salsa were bland for me. It's definitely a nice place for celebrations but also enjoyable for regular outing. read more

I placed a simple appetizer order through their own app, which quoted about 30 minutes. When I arrived, I was told to sit and wait. After an hour with no updates, I asked again--only to find out they hadn't even started making my order. At that point I asked for a refund, and the manager was rude and refused to process it, telling me to "go to the website" instead. I left without my food and without a refund. I've reported the incident to Montgomery County because this feels like deceptive business practice. read more

Nice atmosphere but disappointed. The food took very long to comeout(maybe 40 minutes). I ordered vegetarian burrito. The steak fajitas are the best! We order it medium. It is tender and always tastes fresh. The food is authentic. Service is solid. They get busy. We go about once a month. El Aguila - Taco salad with beef - Tex-Mex Near Me - Silver Spring, Maryland

The restaurant was ok, the one thing that kind of threw me off was when I ordered a taco salad and they didn't mention that there's cilantros in it and everyone who knows me, I HATE cilantros with a passion, if they had mentioned every single thing in the menu, I would've given this 4 stars. The service was kind of slow. The waitress did fine, but it took a bit for the food to come in. The live music was decent too, I'll give it that. So overall, I probably wouldn't come back regularly, but every now and then. Sorry, but I've had better Mexican food. read more

DONT VISIT TGIS ESTABLISHMENTS IF YOU ARE BLACK. They are racist and treat you like your money isn't the same as others. I will never ever spend another dime with them. I was racially profiled and treated like I was stealing while waiting in the back parking lot for my call in order. The jerk said it was his business which seems strange as I was a customer who was waiting for food. Needless to say I will not be back read more

Placed an order online for pickup. Received email confirmation that the order would be ready. Went to get the order and was told repeatedly that it was in the works. Then were told the order was lost. Waited over an hour for food. Asked for some form of service recovery and were told that they had no interest in doing so because they have enough business. Well, they've lost ours - the food was just as garbage as the service (and many items were missing accompaniments and sides) and the decor was TACKY. Hope this place closes soon and a service focused restaurant with actual good food moves in. read more

Very spacious venue with lots of tables and chairs. It was not busy for a weekday lunch. Salsa music in the background. The service, atmosphere and the food were normal, nothing extraordinary. We passed by many times and decided to give it a try. It's a decent restaurant that serves Tex-Mex cuisine. We ordered: 4*Pupusas: can't go wrong with hot paddies stuffed with cheese. Served with orange cabbage and tomato sauce. 4*Plato Grande for 2: the portion was big enough for 3 people. It was served on a steaming hot plate Including beef and chicken strips, shrimp, beans, rice and little tortillas. 3*Enchiladas Monterrey: it's a bit watery, otherwise per normal. 3.5*Tres leches: fresh, I liked it because it was not too sweet. read more

El Aguila has either been a delight or a disaster based on which time we've gone. Sometimes the portions feel very skimpy, and pricey- usually 20% higher than other Mexican restaurants. This time the portions were wonderful, but the service was just terrible. But the thing that really made me give it only the stars is that they charge for refills on drinks like ice tea and Coke. So as long as you know they charge four dollars per drink and they're going to charge you for a refill, you'll be fine. But be prepared because it comes as a bit of a shock at the end of the evening. It's the only restaurant I know that's doing this. And that's why we're probably not gonna go back for a long time. There are other good Mexican restaurants in the area. I really can't complain about the food here, though. The food is great. As long as they keep the portions large like they had last night, I sure can't complain about that either. read more

Today, my family and I visited El Águila for the fifth time, and I have to say this was the best visit so far. Joshua was our server, and he was excellent--very attentive and kind throughout our meal. Unfortunately, our food took more than 40 minutes to arrive, and my son was getting very impatient as his meal hadn't come yet. I understand the restaurant was extremely busy, and I could see that the kitchen staff was working hard. Much respect to them--they're clearly doing their best to serve every customer. read more

Excellent service, excellent food! I love coming here and enjoy every visit! I definitely recommend saving room for the Tres Leches.

Made reservations online thru Google for dinner last which also happened to be Cinco de Mayo . Got a confirmation. Showed up at the reservation time. I told the young lady at the hostess stand that we had reservations to which she responded "No. You don't. Never even looked or asked my name. I showed her my confirmation. Got seated and waited & waited to be acknowledged by a waiter. Yes, it was busy but people who came in after us already got their drinks. Finally waited on ordered our drinks & asked for water. I ordered an appetizer but was told it wasn't available. We could only order entrees. What? So odd. Got our margaritas but no water. Asked 4 times for water. The margaritas we're kinda strong & I needed to spread it out with the water. Finally after about 30 minutes got the water. Again I know they were busy but felt like their attention was on larger parties. Food was just OK. Will not be going back. read more

I phoned in two orders of the enchiladas Monterrey for pickup. They tasted great, service was friendly over the phone and in store, and the experience was overall positive.
