I give the food here al 5's. it was delicious and plentiful. The salsa that came with the chips was so flavorful that I wanted to drink it. The papusa was hot and full of cheese, and the cabbage side dish delicious. I would have given 5 stars but our table had two folding chairs (the only ones) and the both leaned forward, so not at all comfortable. Service was prompt at the beginning of our meal, but we had to search for our waitress to leave. All in all I would go back! read more

Weak drinks. Two margaritas and didn't even feel a buzz. Good food. I had the steak fajitas.

The Service was amazing the food was very good and the server Daniel was very friendly would totally recommend.

This is a take out review: The most difficult thing moving out of LA to the east coast is the food... Especially Mexican food! To heal our cravings we went to this place close by to try it out. We do already have a few spots for authentic Mexican food on our list, but we have yet to try Tex-Mex. We ordered online about 30 mins before arrival. The site estimated it will be ready in 15-25 mins, but soon got a message to say food will be ready in 30 mins instead. We got there and the staff ask for my name and went to find my order. It was not a bad wait about 10 mins, and I can see it was quite busy inside about 2/3 tables filled, also a lot of take out orders prepared to be picked up as well. Once they found my order, the staff helped me take it to my car (it wasn't that much, just 2 bags and a drink, but he offered help quickly), very nice! I am not sure about the service with this short amount of interaction, but for this short interaction with their assistance, I'd say their service is pretty good. Food! We ordered beef and chicken chimichangas, salsa and chips, and a horchata. Since it's our first time trying Tex-Mex, we want to try something we usually get from the places we liked. Wow! I am impressed! It's not the best of the best, but it's very decent! Tender meats, not overcooked flavored rice, decent quality gua, salsa and chips, and really strong cinnamon horchata! Overall in good quality and good portion. Only small downsides: One of the chimichangas were grilled a bit too long and it does have a burnt flavor to it, not heavy, but it's there. Horchata is very strong cinnamon, not bad if you have textured drinks, but it's a bit too much if you are looking for a refreshing drink. It could be the take out that makes it difficult to not become watery, but the sour cream became pretty watery once we got home, and the chimichangas also gets quite wet once you are half way eating it. I understand it's for flavors and just naturally caused by not eating right away, but to assume people get take out and bring home, I wish they figured a solution to prevent it for take out orders...like pack cold sauce separately with warm food. We loved it! It's a solid dinner for us, and the flavors and portion is decent for the price. We know they are famous for Fajita so we have to go back and dine in for that to be sure if this is a new go to for Mexican food. I'd recommend if you want to enjoy a good Tex-Mex meal with family and friends. Good parking, good seating and distance, and good food with a decent price! read more

Our wonderful server Joshua took great care of us tonight! We had just received good health news about a family member, and El Aguila was the perfect place to celebrate our good fortune. I thought that the Platanos Fritos and pupusas (cheese and pork) were delicious. I also tasted the ceviche mixto -- the sweet potato and peanuts lended sweet and crunchy textures to the tangy seafood! read more

Where do I begin as I share my thoughts regarding "El Aguila's " restaurant in Colesville MD! Lets start by saying Exceptional, Kind, Gracious, Wonderful and Appreciated and a team of God sent Angels! These are a few words I will use to describe the manager " Arturdo" and his team who went above and beyond to help my family and I cater my fathers Memorial Service 6 months ago. The food is/was and continues to be described as Excellent, Fresh, delicious, plentiful, flavorful and always leaving you wanting more. This thank you is late in its response, but it was not forgotten, it was just planted inside my heart as my family and I closed out our parents affairs. To bring everyone up to date, my father Roy passed in Feb 2025 exactly 2 days before his 92nd birthday and 2 days before his surprise B-day party. My mom passed 10 months prior at the age of 91 and they were married for 71 wonderful years. My family and I grew up loving Mexican & Spanish food when we lived in AZ and my parents loved El Aguila in Colesville. When dad passed I went to El Aguila and met Arturdo the manager and asked for his assistance to see if he could cater my dads service. I told him it would be a small group with 10-15 people. Needless to say because my family lived in Colesville for over 55 yrs, when neighbors and families found our about dads passing, our list of guest grew, and grew, and grew. Suddenly we had close to 100 people wanting to attend..... which meant I kept calling poor Arturdo and the team to increase our order 2 times a week until the day of the service. The beautiful thing was they were so kind and thoughtful, and understanding that it brought me to tears, when our family and guests raved over the beef and chicken tacos, rice, beans, salsa, chips & guacamole and when it was all said and done there was nothing left but full stomach's, happy people wanting to know who was the caterer and "me", who was soooooooooo grateful and appreciative for all of the kindness and patience that was extended to me and my family. So Colesville if you have an upcoming wedding, birthday, or celebration in the local area that needs catering & delicious food, please reach out to Aturdo and his team. They are kind, professional and truly a blessing to my family and I ... which means they will also be a blessing to you..... and the food....oh my God... just make sure you order enough and ask for business cards... you will need them for referrals. Thanks again Aturdo, My husband and I will see you soon. God bless you all and thank you from the bottom of my and our families heart! Sincerely, Mel, Jay and family read more

After finding out our regular Mexican food hangout had closed, we decided to try out El Aguila. On reflection, a Friday night was probably not a good time to experiment. We had to wait for an inside table, not too long for a Friday, just 10 minutes. The live music was excellent, if not a tad too loud. I appreciate they have to reach folks in the back, but sitting mere feet away from the speakers meant that conversation was impossible. Chips and drinks came out relatively quickly, but the main course took a long time. I'd finished the drinks and chips and hadn't seen my server in what seemed like forever. I understand that large restaurants often get backed up on food orders, but I feel it's the job of the wait staff to check in regularly. I finally called over the host to ask the whereabouts of my server, who I finally saw in the distance make chat with colleagues. Food arrived shortly thereafter. The fajitas Aguila was tasty, and the amount of food was plentiful. Beans were meh, and the rice ok, but everything on my hot plate was great. My wife's chicken fajitas were tasty too. Maybe we'll try this place middle week and see if it's a little quieter and less hectic. read more

My wife and I kept on overlooking this place cause of the low reviews. But a few friends kept telling me to check this place out... so due to peer pressure... why not. And I'm glad I did. I got the shrimp and crab chimichanga and my wife got... I dunno what she got, cause her original order was out and they called us back and asked if they could substitute it with something else. Confused, my wife said sure, and it was delicious. It was definitely something more expensive but they didn't up charge us, so that's a plus. Also, I usually just toss the refried beans cause I don't care for it, but their beans are bomb. I was pretty sure before this, I didn't like beans, but maybe I just never had beans done right. I definitely will be coming back to try other stuff. read more

We had driven past El Aguila many times and finally decided to try it. Glad we did! We were greeted upon arrival and shown to a quiet table near the window. As we looked through the menu, which is extensive, we were brought water, a basket of chips and salsa. Must say that was the one slight disappointment, chips didn't taste fresh and salsa was just average at best. I had seen somewhere that they have a flight of margaritas. What fun! They brought four different flavors , lime, jalapeno, mango and another somewhat sweet one. I especially liked the jalapeno. We found out at a subsequent visit that you can request your flavors and you can get them frozen or on the rocks. On our first visit we ordered a combination platter to share. It came with a crispy taco, enchilada and a tamale (think that's what it was) rice and beans; plus a taco salad. Everything was really delicious and it was really a lot of food. Must say I didn't notice a lot of difference between the tamale and enchilada abut that's okay. With the platter came Pico de gallo, sour cream, and quacamole. On our second visit Rich ordered a yucca appetizer, which was a plenty of food for an appetizer, and a grilled chicken dish. The platter was sizzling and seemed a lot like fajitas but the chicken breast was whole. I tasted the chicken and it was so good, tender and tasty. I had the quesadilla appetizer and it was good. On the third visit, Rich had the yucca appetizer again and a single taco. I had a taquitos appetizer, which I ended up sharing with Rich as it was more than I could eat. Almost all dishes came with the pico de gallo, sour cream and quacamole. The service was friendly and efficient. I can't wait to go back and try more things, though that grilled chicken dish is awfully tempting. read more

I ordered the Picadera especial, I usually get this. It is a large platter so heads up. It comes with ribs, shrimp, steak, yuca, chicken, and pico de gallo. Their classic mojito was very good, perfect amount of sugar & alcohol. My brother ordered the chicken chimichanga, which I tried. I love how fresh the food is but this chicken was heavily seasoned, almost tasted like bbq. Service is always great, lots of parking available. read more

I recently visited El Águila. Overall, my experience was just okay. The food was fine, nothing too memorable. Music was very loud so if you're looking for an intimate dining experience, this is simply just not it. The service was okay as well. However, what really disappointed me was their tipping policy. I was told by my server they don't accept a tip amount less than $25, which was unfortunate since we were only 2 people dining & our bill was around $60. For 2 people meal, being expected to leave $25 tip felt very unreasonable. read more

I've constantly passed this place but today, I finally stopped in. The place is fairly large. The one thing I noticed was the constant commercial for a roofing company on the TV on a loop. This aspect detracted from the dining experience. The food is not bad. Its not great either. Its adequate. I have a theory with Mexican restaurants. The quality of its fresh made guacamole is usually a good indicator of the overall quality. The guacamole was mediocre. It is served in a taco bowl half of it was sou cream and the other half is guacamole on a bed of lettuce. The result was less guacamole in the dish. We also ordered the Shrimp and crab enchiladas and the Pescado Frito. I did get a photo of these. The enchiladas was also mediocre but the Pescado was pretty good especially for the price. All in all, this place is fine if its convenient. However its not really worth making a trip to this place. The service here is good though. They do a good job of taking care of you. read more

I'm going to temper this review with the fact that I was only one person and I only ordered one thing. Decor, location, and the addition of outdoor seating make this a place ripe for excellence. I will admit that the service was also very good (but having the table numbers sticking up off the table was weird). I ordered the Camarones Rellenos which had upsides and down sides. The sauce and crab were pretty darn tasty but the "jumbo" shrimp were...not jumbo. It's not like they were salad shrimp by any stretch but "jumbo" is not an adjective anyone would associate with these shrimp. Here's the really weird part: the rice was undercooked. I mean it had a crunch to it. That's hard to believe in a time when rice is kind of a no-brainer. All told, it was an okay lunch and I might try it again to see if they just had an off day in the kitchen. I'll keep you updated. read more

My daughter and I went there on a Thursday night when many families had gone there to celebrate graduations. It was crowded. It worked out for us because we wanted to sit outside. We were greeted and taken to a table on the patio. Our waiter, Jonathon, was very friendly. The Margarita's were quite good. I could the singer inside, maybe a mariachi-type singer and quite good. Our food didn't take too long, it was excellent. The waiter checked on us and brought more water. Overall I would give this place 5 stars. Also prices were reasonable. read more

Excellent, fresh, food, and generous portions. The fajitas de res were perfectly seasoned, and high quality beef. We ordered the cheese and beef quesadilla, the tacos al pastor platter, the lomo saltado, and fajitas. Service was quick and friendly. The kids loved their smoothies (mango and strawberry). Chips were hot and fresh. Clean interiors (including bathrooms). It's not cheap but it is worth it. Adding to our monthly rotation. read more

This place is local & Ive heard more than good things about it. It's a nice open place, good music and I LOVED the roses they have at each table. Smelt so good and looked pretty! Although, staff is nice but waiting over 30 minutes to get simple enchiladas is a little dramatic along with sitting at our table with plates taken away to have to get up & walk to a waiter to get our receipt. Beans were watery & bland, almost like eating out of a cold can & the rice was hard & dry. Asked for chips 3 times and finally brought it (3rd times a charm). Asked for pico de gallo twice and almost had to use a firm voice to repeatedly ask for things. Employees just chatting on the side with folks instead of being attentive with their customers. Can't go back after that. read more

Being from the NJ/NY area, I am always on the hunt for delicious, authentic food and El Aguila checks that box! Great drinks, nice staff and family friendly. Very clean, elegant, bright place. Oscar was the best! Me and my fiancé had an amazing time great drinks and great food. The only thing we did not like was the calamari (very overcooked and honestly seemed like the boxed one from the store) but he did take that off the bill. However, the chips and salsa were very good. And the entrees (shrimp crema and lomo saltado) were a 10/10!! The drinks were strong and flavorful. We will definitely be back!! read more

Nice mid-scale Tex-Mex place. Saw several birthday desserts delivered with the requisite sombrero and enthusiastically singing staff. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating and everything was accurate. The $6.99 "side order" of a chile relleno that I expected would just be added to the side of my (delicious) enchiladas Monterey entree was actually a large plate fully decked out with salsa and guacamole that would have been a nice meal itself. The margaritas are huge and made well. The only thing I would change is to make it easier to make items vegetarian by having a choice of meat or not, rather than needing to request it be left off (and inevitably be charged for it). A combination plate that is already vegetarian items would be lovely; the existing ones look great but would need to be heavily customized as the vegetarian items are distributed among the different combination plates. read more
