I was disappointed with the quality of my manicure and pedicure both. The polish was uneven, the cuticle area was not clean, and the overall finish looked rushed rather than professional. When I raised my concern to the supervisor, she was dismissive and did not allow me to fully explain. Instead, I was told the issue was due to my nails. Ok, so I am from Seattle. I was in the area visiting my sister and needed to re-do my pedicure. This place doesn't look so fancy on the outside but it's in a nice area. It was absolutely one of the BEST pedicures I've ever had. I don't know what it is, but my shellac painted toes have never looked better. They look so perfect and my feet felt great after. Concierge Keisha (a lovely, caring, professional) at The Four Seasons, the following week I had to discover the depths to which unseasoned and unprofessional staff can sink at this salon. All of this has been formally reviewed and filed with The Four Seasons, to ensure that no other client ever need suffer the disrespect and unprofessionalism that occurred. The nutshell: after my first appointment while still at the Salon, the 'owner manager' Tiffany offered to schedule my next appointment, recommending I do so as weekends can of course fill up. I wished to work with the gal who had worked on repairing my manicure that day, "Kristine", and so we looked at her schedule. The 3 of us decided on 4 pm, as that was what worked for Kristine. So I scheduled the appointment, and then MOVED a few other previous appointments around to ensure I could make it out to the Salon on a busy Saturday. The next Saturday, after leaving my medical appointment, spotted a text from an unknown number. It was from a 'Gray', who said that "Kristine isn't in today, it's her daughter's birthday :)" Yes, a 'happy face'. There's a few responses to this that any reasonably professional person might have: First: A TEXT...? With emojiis? Why not - given it's same day and given the appointment was made A WEEK AGO, the courtesy of a phone call to a new client being CANCELLED on after only one visit? A text on a busy Saturday might well have gone unnoticed. (Yes, folk over the age of 40 do not often stay glued to their phone screen on a Saturday filled with appointments and knowing it's not a work day). And more importantly: WHY the heck did Kristine schedule me for 4 pm the next week - after considerable time spent to find a slot - SHE NOT KNOW it was her daughter's birthday just the week prior...?? And... Why did "Kristine" and/or the Salon NOT CALL at least 24 hours before so I might have a shot of booking another appointment?? Kristine didn't realize she wanted to spend the day off the DAY BEFORE her daughter's supposed birthday? You might get 'reading between lines' of: I suspect this wasn't the whole truth, but we'll let that one be. SO I call the salon, and get "Gray" - the young, 'receptionist' who an hour and a half ago had texted with the smiley face. Immediately he takes the defensive: "Well, it's a matter of preference, if one prefers a call or a text". THIS, from a classy salon?! Referred by The Four Seasons... So I ask for the Owner who had scheduled the appointment there in person, along with Kristine, the week before. I get put on hold, after 3 MINUTES 'Gray' comes back: Tiffany 'is unavailable'. TIFFANY is not in EITHER. (Apparently Tiffany and Kristine are sisters...) This is even MORE apparent by the rudeness "GRAY" displays as I share this is not okay, as a new client, to have my appointment cancelled morning of, after WORKING MY DAY around what "Kristine" asked and Tiffany scheduled. 911's happen- but suddenly last minute for a birthday- she would've known?! "GRAY" interrupts and says that he 'doesn't have to listen to me' (??) - and tells me to call back. I had not raised my voice, I used professional language, and this is how this soul handles this - again, the Owner is not around- he KNOWS the Salon messed up, and has no GUIDANCE nor understanding how to handle this very unfortunate situation. The week prior, the Owner had promised with honey smiles just 6 days ago "always ask for me, I'm reachable, we LOVE people sent over by The Four Seasons" - and NOW a week later - she's NOT. SO: I try to explain to "GRAY" again that I would ask they PLEASE get in touch with Tiffany as I'd moved my day around their request - including my morning treatment - and the response I get? This one is word for word: "Oh, you're a CANCER patient??! (laughs) That's - this is - I'm sorry but this is - I'm sorry, I don't have to deal with this---!" AND HANGS UP. As it happens, my friend who had picked me up from my appointment is WITH ME, IN THE CAR, hearing this ON SPEAKER PHONE. BOTH of us are stunned to silence, before he recovers and demands we call the concierge at The Four Seasons. Again, all this was reviewed and confirmed with Keisha, who was of course mortified to learn that, with the Owner out, THIS is how their staff handles... not just clients... PEOPLE. The reason for 2 STARS and not 1? We'll see what the follow up is after this awful experience. You might get lucky. Perhaps it will suit your manicurist to show up. Or perhaps the Salon will realize this kind of behavior gets shared; perhaps they'll revert to the 'honey sweet' way I was treated on my first visit, and treat customers with more respect moving forward. You will be there for 2 hours and if you want a specific person- it may be longer. Tiffany- the owner, will agree to whatever you are asking- time of appointment or specific person, and when you come and you are in the chair, sometimes even already started your manicure, she will tell you that another person is going to do your manicure. This has happened 3 times in a row. Its infuriating. Last time, I called at 11 am and requested Amanda for my manicure. She told me to come in 20 minutes. I arrived 20 minutes later and after amanda had been working on me for 10 minutes and my old gel was half removed, Tiffany tells me that she "forgot" Amanda has an appointment and I can wait an HOUR, or someone else can do my manicure. This is a pattern with Tiffany. It is wildly disrespectful to the customer's time and infuriating. She figures once you are there you won't leave- and the first few times, I didn't leave. I walked out and went directly to Bellacures, which is not much more expensive, and they treat their customers with respect and did my mani/pedi at the same time and i was out in an hour. Lately, because of this game they play, i have consistently been in Q salon for 2 hours to get my mani/pedi. I had been a regular customers at Q salon every 2 weeks for over three years, and I will never be returning. If this only happened once or every few months, I would let it go. But it has happened the past 3 times i was there. Do not expect honesty or consistency. Shame on them. Was going to give 3 stars but as I type this review on my phone, my gel manicure has chipped after 4 days... What's that tell you? First off, I went in the middle of a weekday and made an appointment. I called ahead to confirm how long it would take to do a gel manicure and pedicure - one hour. It took 10 minutes for the staff to attend to me, which was frustrating considering how empty it was. I will begin by talking about my pedicurist. She made me feel really uncomfortable. She looked at my feet and said, Wow, you really need a pedicure, which is rude. And then while she was doing my nails, she took her own foot out of her shoe and showed me her feet, jokingly saying "I need a pedicure too see!" How odd... My manicurist took her time and did a good job for the most part. Despite the chipping incident. Last thing I'll say is that this place is dirty. The door was open and there was flies everywhere. It was really uncomfortable just sitting in a sea of flies and unable to swat them away. Also, one of the manicurists who was off duty sat next to me scrolling through her phone. The salon itself is simple but the customer service is amazing and the work is exceptional. You can always expect the best service at Q Salon. I still haven't formed a preference for nail tech because everyone I've met so far has been awesome. I've received services from; Julie, Sharon, Mimi, Tiffany and a couple others and my nails are always simply perfect. I often go with the DAZZLE polish which lasts 10 days on me. I do not work with my hands other than doing our dishes every night and have not experienced any chipping prior to 10 days. The technicians at Q Salon are perfectionists and leave no detail overlooked. Their prices may be viewed as higher than some other salons but the quality of work you can expect is a step beyond all the others. I recommend an appointment. I don't often review nail salons if I like them because I don't want them to get busy, but I could not help but show my appreciation for Q Salon publicly after Mimi did such a fantastic job recreating my a logo on my nails for a grand opening event for tonight . Being fancy. Five girls made a reservation to get pampered for the day, we booked 11:30 to get our nails done. Arriving at the salon, we were greeted by the guy and was asked to choose color and nail art as they set up. The plethora of colors is like a rainbow heaven. So many to choose from and a lot of them looked really good. We got seated in the back and each of the nail technicians greeted us and talked about what we wanted. I chose to be very simple and did a one color gel mani and regular french pedi. Overall the experience was great. They took their time to properly clean and sculpt my nails. At the end of the session, I was happy with the outcome and paid for my service. Reason why I gave 3 stars is more on how long my nails lasted. On my regular visit to my usual nail salon, I am able to keep my gel nails for more than two weeks without getting chips our broken nails. This location was much more expensive than my other salon and it only lasted a week and I saw chips on the color. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary and I was disappointed that it cost so much and seeing that it doesn't last as much as my less expensive nail salon. After speaking with someone, they claimed that I did not make an appointment. After 10 minutes of arguing, they remembered that they talked to me. I think it is an immediate red flag when a place does this. After they finally recognized that I did in fact make an appointment, they took 20 minutes to seat us. We had picked a color and were waiting there for us to seat us. When they finally did seat us, we waited an additional 10 minutes for someone to come start our nails. They did not come start our nails until I had to ask what was going on. When they started my toes, they had not come to start my pedicure or my daughter's, even though that is what we made an appointment for. I reminded them multiple times that we had an appointment at 2:40 and by this time it was about 3:20. To make matters worse, someone else walked in after us and immediately got sat down and someone came to work on their nails. I was confused why they were able to start her nails right away but not ours. I spoke up and made this clear to them and they did not even apologize. They said they were busy and overbooked, but if you make an appointment with a place, you expect them to have this stuff figured out (which they didn't). They finally came to start my daughter's nails 5 minutes after that and did not come to start my manicure until 10 minutes later. They did not once apologize for the problem. DAZZLE ME PRETTY! This was the best mani/pedi I've ever had. My cousin and I went here mid-week. We had appointments. Dazzle polish was used on my hands (never feet, apparently) and lasted until my nails grew out. My nails were shaped perfectly. I read reviews about cutting nails too deeply, but my nails were already short and didn't require cutting, so I can't speak to that. The women were very friendly and the place was very clean. Prices are very reasonable considering the area. The only thing I didn't like was the constant upselling. "Do you want ...?" was asked about 3 times, but rates were never provided for the products being verbally offered. I would definitely go back here. They were able to take me. - metered parking (found a spot in front) : sundays are free - clean and upscale - really comfy chairs...I like how the arm rests are high. - my artist painted one hand at a time, so reading a magazine was easy (this is kinda important when you're sitting there for an hour) - good variety of gel color selection. I went to Q salon four days ago because I saw all the great Yelp reviews. As it turns out, they force their clients to write their Yelp reviews in the salon and give them a thank you discount, bribing them to take their ratings up. Nothing more annoying than that! I got a manicure and it was the worst manicure I have had in LA. I just moved from New York and have been trying out different nail salons over the past few months. This was by far the worst place. They say they are clean, but they actually wash and reuse their supplies, pretending that its new (I accidentally caught a glimpse on my way to the back). They didn't know that I speak multiple languages and understood everything they were saying. I have never met such horrible manicurists. Sometimes I hear things in nail salons that are not-so-nice, but this took the cake! One of the manicurists working across from me had asked another manicurist if she was able to "pull the supplies like she did last week." I did not know what that meant, until a few minutes later they started to talk about how one of the girls takes supplies from another salon she works at part time during the week and brings it to this salon! One thing I cannot stand is unethical people! Minding my own business, I let my manicurist continue to do her job, hoping that I would at least leave with a good manicure. She didn't polish the sides well, her cuticle cutting was beyond sloppy and after one day my nails looked like this ( see picture). I'm not one to usually write online reviews, but after seeing the way they bribe their clients to post on Yelp, I thought I should give an honest voice. Maybe I had one bad manicure experience, bad polish can happen from time to time (although it has yet to happen at the 5 other nail salons I've been to in LA). But, I definitely would never go back to a salon that as a group encourages unethical behavior and tries to promote themselves through getting their clients to write reviews in the salon before they leave. I couldn't believe it! Definitely never going back here and will let everyone I come across in town know to avoid this place. For the price you pay, you should at least have a manicure that lasts more than one day! I'm updating my previous review because I have now been a regular at Q salon for a month shy of a year, and still love this place! I read the negative review from Jennifer L and have to say, I feel so badly for the salon because I can't believe it is the same place. I have NEVER been asked to write a yelp review by anyone at Q salon, nor can I believe that the experience she had was at this place. They do not even offer a Yelp review discount. Maybe she went somewhere else and mistook it for Q Salon? It just doesn't seem right based on all my experience coming here for almost a year now. John is so sweet and took the time to show me the sealed sterilization pouch the tools they used on me - he showed me the little black dot on the corner to prove the tools had been properly cleaned. My last nail place, Creation Nails in West LA, just used the pouch but never actually cleaned their tools. I can wholeheartedly vouch for the cleanliness of Q Salon, because I had recurring nail fungus on my big toes and tried (literally) everything to get rid of it... turns out my previous nail spa was reinfecting me every time I went to get a pedicure. So after being fungus free for a year, Q Salon is a VERY clean place, and they don't reuse files and buffers or toe separators like other places. Another reason why I think Jennifer's review might have been meant for another nail salon- NONE of the ladies that work at Q are allowed to speak anything other than English in the front... ever. I noticed, and John said they want to make their clients feel respected and comfortable. My last nail place- well those ladies had a ton of fun speaking in vietnamese, not that I cared, but Q is nice because I never feel like they're talking about me right under my nose! And really, they would never steal from anywhere. They offer a relaxing environment, the people I have met in the salon are some of the nicest folks around! And, they're all regulars too! I only once had an issue with my toenail polish - I picked a color I wasn't in love with, and then smushed a big toe later that afternoon- and they repainted my toes two days later for FREE! I have tried waxing, manicures, pedicures, foot scrubs, salt scrubs, paraffin treatments, and extra foot massages, and I can honestly say I have never had a bad experience. I haven't tried the nail gel yet, but that's because I just had a baby and need to wait until I stop nursing to try it- but it's on my list! I just got a special 7 day no chip polish they have... so far, amazing! Not a chip or dent or anything in sight- highly recommend this for anyone with little ones at home who like to ruin a manicure in seconds!
