Number 1 combo! Pork shawarma baguette sandwich, fries and a drink
    Lana S.

We saw this menu while walking by and was intrigued. They had a special for around 9 euros: a sandwich, fries and a drink! The line was out the door and we decided to go with this place for lunch. My friend and I both got the pork shawarma baguette sandwich with fries and a coke. The sandwich was huge! We got the garlic sauce in the sandwich and it came with one on the side. You can sit outside under the umbrellas or AC inside dining upstairs. Sandwich was so so good! Lots of meat, topping and crispy fries. One of my favorite simples meals in Portugal! This meal def. Hit the spot :)

This place is definitely worth the hype but know the rules otherwise the employees will not have it!! This place is BUSY but you cannot have half your party reserve a table while the others order so don't try. They also have an upstairs with more seating but it's tucked away for sure!! Either way we waited a while but it was worth. The prices and quality here are delicious. I got the pork loin sandwich with fries to share and it was delish. You could customize your sandwich with toppings. Overall, super simple and delish and was a great lunch option!!

We were visiting Lisbon and wanted to grab something for lunch. We saw this place and decide to try it. We came here at noon time and there was a long lineup. However, the line moves very quickly. It is a nice family quick eat. We ordered a place and pita, the portion was good, and it filled us up for lunch. The price was pretty cheap. Even though this place was pretty busy, there were plenty of places to sit. The patio was filled, but 2nd floor was mostly empty. Even though we did not speak Portuguese, but the staff here speak English. I recommend this place if you want to have a quick bite near this area.

Really liked this place. This is a quick lunch place with pita, baguette and simple salad base, with a ton of options.... The line goes super fast, the food is very reasonably priced and was very good. I have the g chicken baguette and my wife had the salad with the shawarma.... She is gluten free and they were able to accommodate and even changed their gloves to ensure no cross contamination... definitely worth a stop for a quick bite!

If you're in Belém, definitely stop by for an affordable and delicious lunch! The prices are very reasonable and their sandwiches are filling but still leaves space for Pastéis de Belém just down the block. I decided to stop by here after seeing a line out the door, mostly cause it's pretty tight inside. However, the line moves fairly quick. You place your order, pay, give the receipt to the lady at the counter who helps put together your sandwich along with the other staff members. I chose to get a pita with shawarma but they also have baguettes and salads. All of the ingredients, such as the veggies and sauces stuffed inside, are pretty much all the same. They give a good amount of meat that was seasoned well. Their fries are thick and plain. It definitely lacked salt but I asked for ketchup, since I love my sauces, and it helped. I would recommend stopping by here for a quick lunch. It's convenient enough to eat on the go but there are also some seats available there as well.

This place is amazing, it's so affordable and actually good. It's the best "food" that I've had in Lisbon. Food meaning main course b/c best dessert would of course go to the Pasteis de Nata. The place seems very modest, they've won awards on Yelp and don't plaster it on the door at eye level, but towards the ground. They also have FREE WIFI here and it's actually got decent speeds (~10mbps). ~~Food: VERY affordable. I've tried the Shawarma Salad and it's so different than the salads that you would typically get in the US because there's just SO much flavor and the meat is delicious!! The hot sauce also is super spicy and tops the salad well. I've also had Shoarma baguette and the pita wrap and all of them are SOO good. The previous leg of my trip was Italy, so it was a nice break from pasta and pizza. ~~Best Part:They take card, but it has to be a physical card (not NFC). Food is just delicious, I actually ate here twice during my trip on two separate days because the food was just TOO good. ~~Service: You order inside and they prepare the food in front of you. They will clean up the plates once you're done eating and everyone working there is nice. ~~Location: It's located only like 3 shops away from the Pasteis de Belem, so you could get a meal here for less than 4€ or more (depending on what you want--most of their single items are 3.95€) and then head over to Pasteis de Belem for dessert. ~~Seating: There's outdoor seating as well as seating upstairs.

    #11 Chicken Stroganoff Sandwich

Cheap sandwich place in the Belém area of Lisbon for lunch. The place is down the street from the Jerónimos Monastery and has upstairs seating with a good amount of tables. English menu available and the workers are able to converse in English as well. The menu has various of different types of sandwiches to choose from and I opted for the #11 Chicken Stroganoff Sauce Sandwich, which was decent. The best part of the sandwich was the fresh and crispy baguette. The sandwich is large and filled to the brim with ingredients. I shared it with a friend and the half sandwich was enough to fill me up. Overall, a decent spot for a cheap lunch. Stop by here for a quick meal before heading over to the other attractions in the area.

This was an excellent place for a quick and tasty lunch. Nice variety of choices, and the baguette sandwiches were so crisp and tasty. We were a little sad we didn't get the falafel wrap because the options looked so good. The line was a little long, but moved quickly. There is a nice park across the street to picnic in, but there is also an upstairs dining room with air conditioning.

    Chicken stroganoff salad - yum!

Great quick service and good food. The line was worth the wait and not as bad as it seemed. If the line doesn't move for a while it's because they stop taking orders to let the kitchen catch back up and funnel people out, but it ends up picking up quicker after so don't get disheartened.

I had been here about fifteen years ago on a solo trip when I waited in an endless queue for a takeout order. That same line still existed a couple of weeks ago when Jamie W and I visited on my return to Lisbon. This time, we decided to try the dine-in option which I wasn't even aware of until I saw a YouTube video from a travel vlogger who recommended it. Sure enough, the line was a lot shorter and moved quite a bit faster. It turned out they serve up to 400 people in an expansive dining room. The menu goes beyond the pastels and offers croquettes, salt cod fritters, various sandwiches, and other pastries. Of course we ordered the 1,6€ Pasteis de Belem. Four of them (Photo 6). Based on a secret recipe dating back to 1837, they compare favorably to the multitude of competitors, even Manteigaria, whose shops appear almost everywhere in Lisbon. The custard filling is creamy but not excessive and it's not overly sweetened. The standout is the thick and flaky crust, tender with a touch of salt. The 2€ Iced Coffees with Milk was a nice complement. Since we didn't have time to get lunch while sauntering through Belem, we decided to take advantage of their cafe menu and each ordered the 3,9€ Tuna and Mayo with Boiled Egg and Lettuce on Mixed Wheat Toast (Photo 9). I know it sounds simple, but it satisfied much like the kombini sandos in Tokyo. Totally worthy of my 8,000 milestone. FOOD - 5 stars...the pastels are still the bomb 189 years later...the sandwich worked, too AMBIANCE - 5 stars...surprisingly spacious...you can also see the production process through large show windows on the way to the dining room SERVICE - 5 stars...a cordial and attentive server who had to juggle a lot of tables TOTAL - 5 stars...definitely a must-stop next to the equally essential Jeronimos Monastery RELATED - Exploring Lisbon? Just awesome sauce Pastel de nata: 10/10 -- I looooved this pastel de nata the most out of all of the different places I tried. I'll post a full round up but this one deserves its own post. It's the original since 1837 for a reason! it was incredibly flaky and crisp. the filling was just the right sweetness and creamy! Pasteis de belem is a must try! Super accessible by tram 15e, it was easy to walk over from the tram stop and hardly had any wait for me to find a seat and order. there are indoor and patio/outdoor seating options available.
