    Trip of dips
    Abby B.

We visited Cruzes Credo twice during our visit to Lisbon because the food was amazing and a great modern interpretation of Portuguese cuisine. We found that it difficult to find diverse food options in Alfama, but Cruzes Credo had a more unique menu than most restaurants. The first time we went, we got the trio of dips and the figs with brie cheese to start. The dips were all amazing- I especially enjoyed the olive tapenade. The brie cheese bites were wonderful- they were little pockets of flatbread with figs, brie, honey, and prosciutto. After eating nothing but airplane food for 24 hours, these were bites of heaven. We ended up splitting the seafood stew for a main course. We were expecting something more traditional, but were pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and deliciousness of the dish. It was really light and flavorful; I could've sipped the broth by itself and been content (which I ended up doing). We also tried a variety of drinks here, but our favorite was their sangria. The prices here are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is great for a casual night out.

Service was extremely friendly. They engaged our kids and were very sweet. This restaurant is right by Se and serves great food. The cheese plate was beautiful with a mix of cheeses, jams, nuts, etc. Very thoughtful and I enjoyed everything that I tried. The veggie burger was also very good, not your traditional veggie burger but full of flavor. We tired a local IPA which was also pretty good.

    Clams - must eat!

I came here on a recommendation, and loved it so much I ate here twice during my 3 day visit. Perfect for a night in the city. Cozy atmosphere, great food and drinks at reasonable prices, and of course, open late. Not the cheapest place I went in Lisbon to eat, but very reasonable especially compared to so many restaurants I saw with very touristy prices! If you're walking here from Baixa, it's a scenic walk and you'll pass by several port stores I liked.

Dip trio - very good; hummus was the best and he bread was awesome!

I enjoyed the quiet, secluded location of this restaurant. It made me feel more like a local at dinner, which is what we seek out when we travel. The dip trio (hummus, guac, and an olive concoction) was very good. I will say the guac could have had fewer tomatoes and more avocado to make it less runny, but overall it was good. My favorite was the hummus. I then got an olive paste and cheese sandwich, which was just alright. The cook was perfect though. I probably would have liked it more had i not had the olive stuff for an app as well. The service here was very friendly and quick. We would come back if we are in Lisbon again.

Such a find! Great ambiance inside and out. Patio is a little separate from the restaurant, it's on a street outside of the main tourist areas. Definitely more of a locals restaurant vs tourist. Food was excellent, great presentation and great service. Not really all that Portuguese it seemed, but was a nice nod to other cuisine after a lot of Portuguese. The hummus trio dip + the goat cheese and fig app were my faves. They did an amazing grilled cheese for my 2 year old. Love this restaurant, definitely one of my faves!

So glad we found this little restaurant. It is directly on the famous church. The food was really made with love and tasted faboulos. The staff was funny, fast and really helpful. Even the music in the backround was perfect and made the evening perfect. When you are lucky, you can get a seat outside with the nice view.

(See above for descriptions... please note, the 2 of us could not finish all of this and we were starving when we arrived!)

These are truly the best appetizers we've had in Lisbon! Per others' recommendations, we ate a variety of appetizers as our dinner, and all exceeded our expectations! We ordered the atum (tuna) sautéed with onions and bell peppers, the charcuterie board (with a variety of local cheeses & meats, olives and decadent breads, a bowl of the fresh carrot soup, as well as the bread with butter and olive oil, and a latte. All were simply superb! Don't miss this place while in Lisbon!

Our first meal at Lisbon was at Cruzes Credo and it did not disappoint! We came here mid afternoon and there was no one there but us. The staff was super friendly and nice. I chose the pork entree with clam (12 euros) which came out quite delicious. The pork was nice and tender and full of flavor. The clams were tiny but the sauce went well with it. It was my first time trying fried polenta and I thought it was okay at first, especially with the sauce. But towards the end -- it tasted pretty dry and there wasn't enough sauce to enjoy the rest of it. I also got to taste the rice with shrimp (10 euros) & the cod fish entree (12 euros) and both were pretty good too. They give a pretty hefty portion size for each entree and the dish is presented nicely. It's a great restaurant in a perfect location next to the cathedral. I would highly recommend this spot if you're around the neighborhood.

I really really like Cruzes Credo. It has a great atmosphere, it's relaxed, the waiters are nice and the food is pretty good. It's the perfect place to take a good friend, order a burger, order some beers and talk and laugh for hours.

Tip: Must order the Warm Chocolate Cake! 3.5 Better the first time, ok the second. It's like a café/pub-like atmosphere with better LOOKING presentation of the food than you would expect. It takes a good few minutes for you to be acknowledged. This happened both times, once when it was packed, the other time when there were seats available. I came here twice for dinner during a recent trip to Lisbon. First time I ordered the pork and was blown away! Second time, I got the cod, as recommended by the server and I thought it was just o-k. Not sure if it was salted cod, but the fish itself was sort of hard. If it was salted, it needed more preparation time to soften the fish. I wasn't too fond of the chickpea mash/cabbage that it came with. Blech. What did stand out was that the servers, in particular the male ones, were enthusiastic to make recommendations and I *loved* that! On my second visit, however, it seems as though the other smaller tables were being ignored while a larger table got most of the attention. So I think it's only fair to mention that. Don't come here if you hafta be elsewhere!

Delicious food! Service was slow, but he was working hard and very nice. Everything we had was so good. Recommend the trio of dips, sangria, shrimp and rice seafood stew, and chocolate cake! The presentation of them was all so nice.

Our hotel told us to try it because it's a pub atmosphere with great food. They were spot on. Loved the staff. They're extremely nice and helpful. We spilled a water and they joked around with us as they helped clean it up. They gave us a new bottled water for free just because they're so nice (we didn't ask, they just brought it). The food was excellent. It was the best meal we had in Lisbon as they paired excellent, fresh ingredients with impeccable plating. Definitely stop by!

Bacon cheeseburger and sirloin steak. Delicious!
    Brittany C.

Don't think twice. Just go now! We stopped here after a long day of exploring Alfama. I got the sirloin steak and my husband got a burger with a fried egg on top. It was sooooo good! To top it off, the chocolate cake was unbelievable. I want to eat there again right now!

"Three sweets" dessert. Cheese cake, melty chocolate cake and apple pie. All were really good!

I wasn't feeling super hungry so I opted to do a takeout box (€8) of their buffet food. The selection here was fantastic - many lentil/soy based protein options, a salad bar, rice and bread - really the perfect plant based meal where everything was tasty. My average rating really comes from my experience doing takeout. Maybe it's my American mentality, but when they handed me the takeout tray, I made sure to fill it up with as much food as possible (while not overloading). When I went to pay, the owner(?) scolded me and said it was now impossible to close and that I did not do this properly. I apologized and shared my embarrassment with them, but honestly - it was NOT that bad. I wasn't happy that they made a scene where everyone started staring as I continuously apologized and felt stern judgement. Finally, another staff member took over and closed the box for me and I paid and left. After sharing the photos with friends, nearly everyone concluded that it was not overfilled and definitely me just making the most of my limited space. Besides that experience, I still really appreciate them being available and would come back to do the actual sit down buffet so I can avoid this awkwardness again.

Ultimately, I love how intentional the creators were with the development and execution of Ao 26. I ordered the Francesinha and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. Upon reading the description, I was hesitant because it did not sound like something that I'd enjoy, but I was desperate to try a dish native to Portugal. It was delicious - so so delicious. I'm glad that they were able to veganize the native dish and execute it so well. For dessert, I ordered the Peanut & Chocolat Pie. I forget exactly what was in the sandwich, but it was pretty bland. There was a sauce that came with the dish and that was tasty. But the sandwich itself was meh at best. The fries were also disappointing. They were soggy and very oily. Dipping them in the sauce made them somewhat edible. So meh food and meh service equals a meh review.

I was intrigued by the presence of a vegan restaurant in Lisbon, but it seems like vegan and vegetarian restaurants are plentiful here. The menu is just as tiny as the restaurant. There are 2 main dishes and a few desserts and starters. I ordered the daily dish, which was called Brunch. It included vegan cheese on toast, vegan sausages, a slice of sun-dried tomato, roasted beets on top of potatoes, and oats with strawberries and bananas. Elements of the dish were both a hit and a miss. As a non-vegan, the individual components were very good attempts at replicating the real thing. First, the cheese had the right texture. It had a very light and subtle flavor that I enjoyed. The vegan sausages were too dry on the inside. The beets and potatoes were particularly good, but I'm a bit biased as I enjoy beets in general. The oats in soy milk was tasty. There was a subtle sweetness to it. Overall, the food was good and a good value for €13.

There was quite a rush for the cheesecake, so I wonder if that would have been better? Sadly they were sold out once we wanted dessert. Service was a bit slow and they don't open before noon, but that's fine when you are on vacation :) As others have mentioned, the space is small, so going here with a large group is probably not advisable. I liked that their food menu was hand-written. It sounds like they just make up the menu as they go, and include whatever dishes they can make with the produce they have available that day.
