Right before covid-19, we had our first dinner in Lisbon here. Ambience is nice and service was great! Pao Gleba, azeitonas, requeijao, manteiga (bread from Gleba, olives, cheese, butter) - the cheese and butter was good with the bread! Olives were super salty. Nothing special about the appetizer. Arroz con Camaroes (shrimp rice) - the rice was flavorful but the shrimp wasn't crunchy. It either wasn't fresh or overcooked. Bife de vazia (sirloin steak) - the mushrooms were good but that was it. Nestled on a little side street near St. Anthony's Church, this restaurant is a hidden gem in Lisbon. Definitely try to get there early, if you can, because the space is fairly small and fills up quick. That being said, the waitstaff are all beyond accommodating and do a really great job of getting you seated and served as soon as possible. As for the food? My word. Hands down one of the best meals I've had in Europe. I went with their shrimp and rice dish and it was to die for! Fresh, flavorful, and affordable! If I could go back, I totally would. We visited Cruzes Credo twice during our visit to Lisbon because the food was amazing and a great modern interpretation of Portuguese cuisine. We found that it difficult to find diverse food options in Alfama, but Cruzes Credo had a more unique menu than most restaurants. The first time we went, we got the trio of dips and the figs with brie cheese to start. The dips were all amazing- I especially enjoyed the olive tapenade. The brie cheese bites were wonderful- they were little pockets of flatbread with figs, brie, honey, and prosciutto. After eating nothing but airplane food for 24 hours, these were bites of heaven. We ended up splitting the seafood stew for a main course. We were expecting something more traditional, but were pleasantly surprised by the simplicity and deliciousness of the dish. It was really light and flavorful; I could've sipped the broth by itself and been content (which I ended up doing). We also tried a variety of drinks here, but our favorite was their sangria. The prices here are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and the ambiance is great for a casual night out. read more

The cheese plate was beautiful with a mix of cheeses, jams, nuts, etc. Very thoughtful and I enjoyed everything that I tried. I came here on a recommendation, and loved it so much I ate here twice during my 3 day visit. Perfect for a night in the city. Cozy atmosphere, great food and drinks at reasonable prices, and of course, open late. Not the cheapest place I went in Lisbon to eat, but very reasonable especially compared to so many restaurants I saw with very touristy prices! I enjoyed the quiet, secluded location of this restaurant. It made me feel more like a local at dinner, which is what we seek out when we travel. The dip trio (hummus, guac, and an olive concoction) was very good. I will say the guac could have had fewer tomatoes and more avocado to make it less runny, but overall it was good. My favorite was the hummus. I then got an olive paste and cheese sandwich, which was just alright. The cook was perfect though. Such a find! Great ambiance inside and out. Patio is a little separate from the restaurant, it's on a street outside of the main tourist areas. Definitely more of a locals restaurant vs tourist. Food was excellent, great presentation and great service. Not really all that Portuguese it seemed, but was a nice nod to other cuisine after a lot of Portuguese. These are truly the best appetizers we've had in Lisbon! Per others' recommendations, we ate a variety of appetizers as our dinner, and all exceeded our expectations! Our first meal at Lisbon was at Cruzes Credo and it did not disappoint! We came here mid afternoon and there was no one there but us. The staff was super friendly and nice. I chose the pork entree with clam (12 euros) which came out quite delicious. The pork was nice and tender and full of flavor. The clams were tiny but the sauce went well with it. It was my first time trying fried polenta and I thought it was okay at first, especially with the sauce. But towards the end -- it tasted pretty dry and there wasn't enough sauce to enjoy the rest of it. I also got to taste the rice with shrimp (10 euros) & the cod fish entree (12 euros) and both were pretty good too. They give a pretty hefty portion size for each entree and the dish is presented nicely. It's a great restaurant in a perfect location next to the cathedral. I would highly recommend this spot if you're around the neighborhood. read more

Amazing place. The hostess/waitress was wonderful. We at first couldn't find a table indoors and sat down at a table outside. After a short while she came outside to let us know we could move inside if we wanted. She then waited until we sat down and took our orders immediately. Very good service. The food didn't disappoint either. My favorite dish is the octopus. Everything is very affordable. We had 4 tapas, 2 glasses of wine, 2 main courses, and a cheesecake, and it totaled just over €60. Pretty good food, and they have plenty of vegetarian options- a rare thing in Portugal. We opted for the trio of dips, the cheese plate, and the brie sandwich. The dips and cheese were good, but I wish the sandwich had a little bit more stuff on it. It takes a good few minutes for you to be acknowledged. This happened both times, once when it was packed, the other time when there were seats available. I came here twice for dinner during a recent trip to Lisbon. First time I ordered the pork and was blown away! Second time, I got the cod, as recommended by the server and I thought it was just o-k. Not sure if it was salted cod, but the fish itself was sort of hard. If it was salted, it needed more preparation time to soften the fish. I wasn't too fond of the chickpea mash/cabbage that it came with. Blech. What did stand out was that the servers, in particular the male ones, were enthusiastic to make recommendations and I *loved* that! On my second visit, however, it seems as though the other smaller tables were being ignored while a larger table got most of the attention. So I think it's only fair to mention that. Fantastic spot right near the large church on your way up to the Castle. It's in the Alfama neighborhood and is a small hole in the wall near a large stairwell leading farther into the neighborhood. The seating area is cramped, so unless you get there early, expect at least a 15-20 minute wait for a table. The service is a tad slow as there are usually only two people working the dining area but once you manage to get their attention they are incredibly nice and will answer any questions you have and give you honest recommendations if you aren't sure what to get! The cheeseboard is the best bang-for-your-buck value on the menu. You get 5 types of cheese with honey and fog spread with toasted bread flats on the side for only €12.00!! My dad and I shared this and it felt like we were eating forever! It hit the spot when paired with multiple pitchers of Sangria and the local Superbock beer. Other excellent choices include the shrimp curry, pork with clams, and cheeseburger! Make sure to end the meal with a slice of chocolate cake! It is AMAZING! Be warned. If you are headed here at night the area is crawling with pickpockets so secure your purses and wallets and keep an eye open. read more

This place has a really cool ambiance. I came here with my sister and mom in July of 2018 and it was a great experience. The service was fast and friendly, and you never felt rushed. The food came out accordingly and was really good. As mentioned by someone else the food here isn't going to blow your taste buds away but they are nice portion sizes, which can be uncommon for an American eating in Europe. Absolute TERRIBLE experience! My husband & I have been trying out many restaurants & pastry cafes throughout Lisbon. We've had great experiences in all of them expect for this restaurant. We ordered caprese buffala salad for appetizer, pretty good. I had the tuna with polenta & vegetables, also pretty good. The real issue was my husband who usually likes everything, ordered the paultry sausage with vegetables & egg. The paultry sausage was mushy, tasted terrible with a weird consistency. Not a sausage that you would expect, more like a mushy patty. He took a bite and decided to send it back and asked the waitress if he can order something else. He ordered the shrimp with rice instead, which was better. *NOTE: we rarely ever send a dish back. This is the first time because it was inedible. When we got the bill, they charged us for the paultry sausage dish even after we sent it back & didnt eat it. We asked why they were charging us for that dish and we were told that they cannot do anything about it. We have to pay for it. So they charged us for a dish that we didn't eat. UNACCEPTABLE!!! I had never experience something like this and I've travelled all the world and have eaten in many restaurants. They gave us free desserts instead. Lol... TERRIBLE BUSINESS! and TERRIBLE way to treat your paying customers. So many other great restaurants in Alfama with great service. AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

Fantastic. A charming place to eat at after wandering Alfama. Feels like your typical neighborhood cafe but the food is mind blowing. I had the fish stew which was packed with flavor and beautifully served. It was worth the wait as every bite was fresh and well seasoned and bright with flavor. Been here last night because of the good reviews it got and have to say i was totally disappointed. The waiters were really nice and helpful and also the service was quick and we got our food fast. But the food was not what we expected. The hummus tasted like nothing, maybe they forgot to add some salt or the main spices but if you ever had good hummus before stay away from this one. The guacamole was okay but nothing special and the olive paste was kind of watery. I had a Greek salad for the main course and it did not have much in common with a real Greek salat. The dressing was mainly just vinegar and there were a lot of carrots and and lettuce in it. The only thing that made it "greek" were olives and feta and both were not very good. If you want to go to a special Portuguese place where also locals eat, stay clear of this place. read more
