    Super Bock. Gluten Free beer.

This is our first Bifana experience, and not trying them in Porto, so we have nothing to compare to. I can just say this one is amazing. Loaded it up with mustard and piri piri oil... and a Super Bock to wash it down. My wife is Celiac, so she could only have the Super Bock. The bifana no chese is 3.50 euro, and with chese is 5.50 euro. I personally dont think the cheese is worth 2 euro, so skip it.

On a recent family trip to Lisbon, after spending the morning touring the Castelo de Sao Jorge,I found myself craving lunch-I wanted something local and something somewhat authentic-I chose the famous Portuguese sandwich bifana at the most famous bifana stand in Lisbon-As Bifanas do Afonso. After a short 5 minute walk down to the stand,I found a pretty good line-I'm guessing the social media reels I've seen about this spot must be true.Luckily for me though, the line moves really fast.,We ended up ordering a few classic Bifanas with no cheese(€3). They were pretty good-I ended up adding some of their spicy mustard and their house Piri-Piri hot sauce, which I swear u could put on anything and make it delicious. Now that I think about it,no shade to the Bifanas but I think I may have liked the hot sauce even more than the sandwiches-a true delight and must try when ordering from this spot. In closing,I will say if u ever find yourself lucky enough to be in Lisbon this place is a for sure must try for a fast in expensive tasty meal/snack-for no trip to Lisbon would be complete without trying the highly popular Bifanas do Afonsos. PS-Two quick tips, this place is cash only,so bring those euros and they are also closed on Sundays-so plan accordingly-Safe travels my friend.

To cheese or not to cheese. That is the question. It's a whopping €2 more (almost double the price) for the Bifana with cheese, but so worth it! Still a relatively cheap eat. The bun was fluffy. The pork was pretty tender, but very salty. I 100% preferred the addition of cheese, a good, healthy dousing of mustard and a drop of hot sauce. Glad we got to try it, but it was a one and done check off our travel list.

Bifanas do Afonso is a staple Lisbon takeout spot tourist and locals love. The line can be very long so be prepared but it goes by very fast. I ordered the classic bifana, and it was very good. Thin slices of pork simmered in a flavorful north for hours and put on a kaiser bun. It's simple but the kind of simple that's perfect with every bite being messy, juicy, and packed with flavor.

We came to this bifana stand after hearing about it on social media. There was a long line when we arrived that only got longer as we waited. We finally got to the front after about 20 minutes or so of waiting. I ordered a classic bifana and my boyfriend ordered an al pastor sandwich. The bifana was good but a pretty skimpy portion of meat. I was surprised by this since I've seen photos of other bifanas here with a more balanced meat to bread ratio. The spicy mustard helped give the sandwich some moisture which was needed as the bread was a bit dry. The al pastor sandwich was not great - really tough, dry meat that needed a lot of hot sauce to be deemed edible. We ended up trying a few other bifana places while we were in town and this place had really nice flavor and a great price but the least amount of meat.

Tried this after walking around all day. For €9.50 for 2 Bifanas a water and a Coke Zero. Not too shabby. Food was good add the chili oil and mustard. Only wish they had some seats right out front. Are standing up. Service was friendly. Food came out quickly. Worth the hype.

My wife and I were in Lisbon for a week and a buddy said I must get a bifana at this hole in the wall. We hopped on the 28 and rode it down a little since it was a little rainy and we walked up some hilly area about 4 blocks. There was a pretty good size line, but trust me, it moves fast. I quickly got up to the front and ordered a bifana with cheese and a beer. About 8 Euro after the beer I think, very reasonable and the service is curt, but friendly. I took my sandwich to a nearby outside bench and it was super full of pork and moist and sat atop the wonderful bread, matched with an ice cold lager. Heaven in Portugal for under 10 bucks! We were lucky, they sold out and closed ten minutes after I ordered!

Probably, the best bargain within all of Lisbon. The place is small, no seating. But the line keeps on going. There is no surprise since the wait is absolutely worth it. For only €25, we were able to get 5 sandwiches and 3 large beers. How can you beat that? The sandwich was really, really delicious. A touch of mustard was only needed to kick it up a notch. It is a must go-to spot if you're ever in Lisbon.

Amazing pork sandwiches--hot, fresh, tender, and packed with flavor. I love the mustard and chili oil you can add for an extra kick. There are plenty of options, but I highly recommend sticking with the classic marinated pork sandwich. It's cash only and very affordable. I loved it so much that I came here twice while in Lisboa. The first time was in the morning for breakfast, and service was quick. There were only three or four people ahead of me, mostly locals dining inside. There's not much seating, but you can stand outside or sit in the nearby plaza. Orders are placed inside, and there's even a handwashing station available. In the afternoon, it gets super busy. When it's crowded, you order from a window instead. The line stretched well out the door, and I waited about 30 minutes, but it moved quickly. Would definitely come back again and recommend to anyone visiting the city!!

The Best Bifana in Lisbon -- Hands Down Stopped by Bifanas do Afonso (3 times) and was absolutely blown away. The pork was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor -- perfectly seasoned and served in a soft, crusty roll that stood up to all of the soaked goodness. Simple, fast, and unbelievably satisfying. The woman at the window was friendly and very efficient, and the vibe was pure Lisbon: no frills, just amazing food. Grabbed a cold beer to go with it and sat at one of the blue tables like a local. This is the kind of place you dream about long after you've left. A must-visit for anyone who loves authentic Portuguese street eats.

I have a hard and fast rule where I always stop at a food stand if there's: 1. A line. 2. Meaty sandwiches being served. Personally, I'm an ignorant American that thought "bifanas" was going to be beef, but I was not sad when I found out it was actually delicious, tender pork that was stewed in white wine and spices, slapped on a fresh roll, and handed to me for the amazing price of 3 euro (an extra 1.50 will get you some cheese). They have both mustard and chili oil available for slathering, and I recommend both. The guys behind the counter are no nonsense, and they are just trying to get through the line. There's no seating at the stand, but luckily, you're in the middle of a nice little square that's perfect for eating and drinking the beer that goes so well with the bifana. If you find yourself in the 'hood, you should absolutely stop and get a sandwich.

Bifanas do Afonos was on the top of my list since many people raved about the delicious bifana's they serve. When I arrived the line was down the street. Don't get discouraged, the line moves fast and you can even enjoy a nice cold beer while you wait. There is a very nice liquor store down the street to purchase waters or ice cold beer. The street is filled with aromas from the tasty pork being cooked, which will cause your stomach to growl. I ordered the bifana without cheese. The bifanas was 3 Euros. Very reasonable. One thing to note is this place is cash only. The bifana were very flavorful. Don't miss the mustard and the piri piri. Both compliment the bifana well. The hype was real and it didn't disappoint. Bifana do Afonos doesn't have seating outside but there are a number of benches where customers are recommended to sit to enough the delicious bifana.

We stopped by for lunch and the line was very long but moved quickly. The prices are very reasonable and my bifanas with cheese and lots of their chili oil was delicious. They're cash only. It's just an ordering window so there isn't really a place to sit and eat but it's adjacent to a square so a bunch of people were loitering and eating their food off of ledges or sills or really anything else they could find. The service is super speedy.

There were no customers when we walked in so the woman behind the counter served us right away. She explained what was on each pizza before we ordered. The nice thing about the slices is they are cut with scissors and then weighed on a scale. Not like your typical slice spot in the US. My mom ordered white pizza with mushrooms and I ordered tomato pie. Both were tasty but I enjoyed the mushroom one more because it was slightly saltier. I washed everything down with a San Pellegrino sparkling water. For two pizza varieties, a sparkling water and a beer, it was around 13,50€. It was filling enough to last us until dinner time. I couldn't tell exactly how fresh it was- but definitely not the same as a slice from a shop in Italy.
