We stopped here for a meal while shopping in the LX factory. It was the only place that had some seating at the time but I am glad we stopped in. The food was delicious and the prices were good. You go up and order at the counter and then they give you a number. You can order more food from the waiter if you need to. The food came out pretty quickly. We got the 1/2 chicken, drumsticks, salad, chicken toast, and the polenta sticks. The chicken was hot and moist, very tasty. It was small but that's just because they are free range chickens and not the genetically modified monster chickens we have in the US. The salad and chicken toast were also tasty although I would recommend getting the chicken plate and a side. We also ordered some drinks and although the alcoholic beverage selection was small it was all good. Overall I recommend this place for a quick meal, especially if you are a chicken lover. The service is nice and fast in case you want a quick bite so you can get back to shopping.

Great chicken. Smaller than what Americans expect but very tasty. Also the burger was fantastic. As were the chicken skins and the iced tea

It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. FOOD - 4 stars...succulent poultry with a unique spicy kick AMBIANCE - 4 stars...like an old-fashioned dining room in a Portuguese home SERVICE - 4.5 stars...they move quickly and courteously TOTAL - 4 stars...a Lisbon institution worth checking out RELATED - Exploring Lisbon? The chicken is pretty tasteless besides some of the skins with the marinated rub which then became too salty. I've had much much better piri piri chicken before so I was sorely disappointed.

Pastries de Bacalhau - the crust was not brown enough. May be longer time. The stuffing was flavorful but it's more the cod taste than the flavored mash potatoes which I prefer. I actually prefer the other local restaurant I tried the night before better. Caldo Verde - The potatoe part of the soup is great. Perfect viscosity but the flavor is not. It wasn't salty enough but more importantly is the flavor of the veggies and the spicy sausage they supposed to use that makes the soup taste different. Grilled giant pawns - The flavor of the prawns is not as intense as expected and hope to be. The squid ink pasta also lacked of flavor. That's disappointing. With the prawns, they should at least use the prawn shell to make sauce for the pastas. The pasta was tasteless, didn't even use enough garlic and olive oil to flavor it up. Seafood rice - Another disappointment. They used fish, small mussels and little bit of shrimp pieces along with some bigger whole shrimps and mussels. However, the rice was lack of the true seafood flavor that made from shell fish. They also added cilantro which overwhelmed the whatever left of seafood flavor. The lemonade was not a sweet lemonade but sour. Fyi. It's not fair we just went to another restaurant in the neighborhood and everything was so much better but people should know.

To both of them equally I say, there are very few places I'd be willing to stand in line for an hour for, and few of them involve meat on bread. Luckily, being the off-season, I didn't have *any* wait to order a sandwich. Unluckily, being the off season, that's also because it kept raining off and on, and this is a strictly take-out affair. So I ended up eating the sandwich under a nearby awning. In nicer weather conditions, though, there are plenty of nearby benches to sit on right there. Would i wait in a long line? I would not. But it was a legitimately great sandwich, great fluffy bread, great cheese if you splurge on cheese (as of a couple months ago, they were 3.5 euro without cheese, 5.5 with cheese), and solid, juicy, meaty meat, even if I do *personally* prefer the thin-sliced version like the other place I went, did. For how filling they are, that'd make them pretty darn affordable, if you don't add cheese, which I would probably keep doing anyway if I lived here, I'd just go when it was the off-season and not busy, *and* not raining*. At least as of when I was there, being a takeout place, they didn't have much in the way of drinks, but there was an unrelated business in the next alcove over selling cheap large glasses of beer and large blended fruity pineapple drinks. p.s. Make sure to absolutely douse your sandwich in mustard and chili oil, if you like spicy food like I do. They're self-serve, and great.

She is all in and makes this place fabulous. Because I was in Portugal, I needed to order the codfish dish before leaving. I don't normally care for codfish because it can be tough. This cod dinner was juicy and moist. It was seasoned perfectly and came with the perfect sides of potatoes and spinach. I took my time eating it because it was that good. The wine was great, the Portuguese sausage was excellent. As for the service, our waiter was very attentive and met every need in a very timely manner. The stuffed mushrooms were overcooked, the tiger prawns were tough and barely edible. The codfish cakes were just okay. The best thing we ate here was honestly the bread. Service was also really slow despite the staggered seating. Ambiance wise it just feels like a low key restaurant with a small stage in front. There are no bad seats in the house which is nice, you can see the performers well no matter where you're seated. The Fado show made up for the bad food. The performances were beautiful and varied. The level of talent on this tiny unsuspecting stage was really something to see. I wish I could've paid for just the show and skipped the meal in retrospect.
