We stopped here for a meal while shopping in the LX factory. It was the only place that had some seating at the time but I am glad we stopped in. The food was delicious and the prices were good. You go up and order at the counter and then they give you a number. You can order more food from the waiter if you need to. The food came out pretty quickly. We got the 1/2 chicken, drumsticks, salad, chicken toast, and the polenta sticks. The chicken was hot and moist, very tasty. It was small but that's just because they are free range chickens and not the genetically modified monster chickens we have in the US. The salad and chicken toast were also tasty although I would recommend getting the chicken plate and a side. We also ordered some drinks and although the alcoholic beverage selection was small it was all good. Overall I recommend this place for a quick meal, especially if you are a chicken lover. The service is nice and fast in case you want a quick bite so you can get back to shopping.

Great chicken. Smaller than what Americans expect but very tasty. Also the burger was fantastic. As were the chicken skins and the iced tea

It's rotisserie chicken doused with a spicy hot sauce so what's not to like? I knew it was a Portuguese-originated dish, so I looked for a place famous for it. Here on a Sunday evening, there was quite a queue extending up the cobblestone alley, so I realized this must be the place. Although it was at least thirty people deep, it didn't take more than twenty minutes for Jamie W and me to secure a table upstairs. It was a homestyle dining room set-up that hovered between cozy and crowded depending on the fluctuating volume level. Interestingly all the servers were male, and while ours was the most junior, he consciously followed the behavior of his veteran brethren. There was no question about our main course, the 13,5€ Frango Assado No Espeto (Roast Chicken on the Spit) (Photo 7). It was tender and succulent enough albeit a bit under seasoned, all the more reason to pour a liberal dose of the piri piri sauce (Photo 8). Our sides were simple but shareable, the 3,2€ Batata Fritta (French Fries) (Photo 9) and the 4,3€ Salada Mista (Mixed Salad) (Photo 10). Both were fine, though we really wanted to try their Cream Spinach. They were already out of it in the kitchen. We were quite satisfied nonetheless, and their service pretty much worked like clockwork. Jamie and I agreed we'd definitely come back if the passion for poultry strikes us on a return trip to Lisbon. In the meanwhile, I'll just do a run to Costco, buy a rotisserie chicken, and dream of Portugal. FOOD - 4 stars...succulent poultry with a unique spicy kick AMBIANCE - 4 stars...like an old-fashioned dining room in a Portuguese home SERVICE - 4.5 stars...they move quickly and courteously TOTAL - 4 stars...a Lisbon institution worth checking out RELATED - Exploring Lisbon? A small line of one or two groups at a time formed throughout the night. We were seated outside and there was a street performer with an acoustic guitar - def added some great vibes to the night. It was a chilly December night but the heater provided *just enough* warmth. We ordered the codfish cakes which were alright - nothing too special. Since it was a little cold out, I also ordered the chicken broth. It was bland, but good in its own way. There was some rice and chicken bits in it that tasted really good. The rotisserie chicken that they are known for was EXTREMELY salty. We were a group of 6 and ordered 2.5 rotisserie chicken (so 5 pieces) but this was actually way too much. It's a little better (but still salty) if you don't eat the skin, but that's the best part given how crispy it was! I tried to drown out the saltiness by using the piri piri sauce and it helped a little bit... but biting into the chicken meant biting into the undissolved salt bits. Given how salty it was, we could not finish it at all and left behind 3 pieces. Service itself was meh. They made sure to inform us that the tip was not included in the bill.

No joke, the best meal we had in Lisbon!…read more A Nossa Casa was recommended to us by a local when we were at her jewelry store, and she did not lead us astray. When we walked in, the restaurant felt so warm and cozy, like we had just entered someone's home (fitting for the restaurant name). It must have been our lucky day, as they have one table they set aside for walk-ins by the front door, and it was free and ours! The table was different than the rest of the tables in the place. Imagine a living room set-up - the table was lower like a coffee table and the chairs were comfy arm chairs, and we sat next to the window filled with hanging plants and greenery. I would definitely recommend making a reservation, though - we watched countless people be turned away at the locked door since they were fully booked up. But we didn't feel rushed at all - the host/owner spent the time with us to go over the entire menu and his wine recommendations - I landed on a bottle of vinho verde that was bright and crisp. He and his Brazilian chef wife created a menu that is a fusion of their two cultures, and the food is outstanding. We had a razor clams dish that was so good, it was my first time having razor clams and I'm a huge fan of them now. I cannot wait to go back if I'm ever in Portugal again!

As I continue to slowly get through the large list of review drafts I wrote when I was in Portugal,…read moreat this point, a bit over 3 months ago, in no particular order... this was one of two places that ended up on my list of places I had to try a famous bifana sandwich when I was in Lisbon, the other being O Trevo the next day. To both of them equally I say, there are very few places I'd be willing to stand in line for an hour for, and few of them involve meat on bread. Luckily, being the off-season, I didn't have *any* wait to order a sandwich. Unluckily, being the off season, that's also because it kept raining off and on, and this is a strictly take-out affair. So I ended up eating the sandwich under a nearby awning. In nicer weather conditions, though, there are plenty of nearby benches to sit on right there. Would i wait in a long line? I would not. But it was a legitimately great sandwich, great fluffy bread, great cheese if you splurge on cheese (as of a couple months ago, they were 3.5 euro without cheese, 5.5 with cheese), and solid, juicy, meaty meat, even if I do *personally* prefer the thin-sliced version like the other place I went, did. For how filling they are, that'd make them pretty darn affordable, if you don't add cheese, which I would probably keep doing anyway if I lived here, I'd just go when it was the off-season and not busy, *and* not raining*. At least as of when I was there, being a takeout place, they didn't have much in the way of drinks, but there was an unrelated business in the next alcove over selling cheap large glasses of beer and large blended fruity pineapple drinks. p.s. Make sure to absolutely douse your sandwich in mustard and chili oil, if you like spicy food like I do. They're self-serve, and great.

The challenge was the limited sidewalk in front and the lines extend across the street. People don't always realize they're standing in the middle of a street until they get honked at by a car. Menu was posted on the left behind the window. Plain and with cheese bifanas topped the menu but there were other choices as well like carne asada, egg and fish. Cash was the only tender accepted. The pork in the bifanas was constantly simmered and pulled out to make each sandwich individually. The bread was chibatta like and quite soft that enveloped the strips of pork. I added piri piri aauce and yellow mustard (big squirt bottles available on the counters to each side of the window) which gave it more flavor. A simple but great local sandwich. To avoid lines come at odd hours. I also came a little after lunch hour in moderate rain and there was just one person ahead of me.

She is all in and makes this place fabulous. Because I was in Portugal, I needed to order the codfish dish before leaving. I don't normally care for codfish because it can be tough. This cod dinner was juicy and moist. It was seasoned perfectly and came with the perfect sides of potatoes and spinach. I took my time eating it because it was that good. The wine was great, the Portuguese sausage was excellent. As for the service, our waiter was very attentive and met every need in a very timely manner. Getting back to the roots was topped off with a wonderful live music fado experience. If you ever visit Lisbon, this is a must.

The stuffed mushrooms were overcooked, the tiger prawns were tough and barely edible. The codfish cakes were just okay. The best thing we ate here was honestly the bread. Service was also really slow despite the staggered seating. Ambiance wise it just feels like a low key restaurant with a small stage in front. There are no bad seats in the house which is nice, you can see the performers well no matter where you're seated. The Fado show made up for the bad food. The performances were beautiful and varied. The level of talent on this tiny unsuspecting stage was really something to see. I wish I could've paid for just the show and skipped the meal in retrospect.
