The owner is the one-woman show for this place. She's eccentric, in a good way. She is balancing a whole act here. She let us snag a table right at 18:30 but told us we had to be done by 19:00 since that's when the next reservation was. No prob! We placed our order for a mixed plate 1 + small sides of garlic rice and mashed potatoes. We saw a fam roll in, a group of four, and they had reservations. However, they didn't vibe with the owner and mistook her eccentricity for unwelcoming vibes - she did recommend them a nice table service serving similar foods up the street. Anyway, she called us over to pick up our orders to bring them to our tables. It was so yummy! A bit salty for our liking, but we were happy to try out her food. Her sauces are delicious and good to pour over the garlic rice. If you don't have reservations, there is always take-away as an option. Bon appetit

Plenty of locals in the place, especially since there was a futbol game playing. They are CASH ONLY. The portions are crazy big, even when you ask for only one person portion. Their warm invitation to us was above and beyond. We primarily saw local diners who enjoyed the fresh and flavorful menu options. First visit we had the Iberian black pork ribs which came with fries & a salad and the steak. The amount of the tasty food was alot for our lunch. We decided to return for dinner on our last night at Lisbon. Wanted the seafood and delicious Iberian black pork ribs again! We were so delighted with the amazing flavors and the friendliness of the waiters and perhaps the owner. Happy we had wonderful dining experiences here.

What I wrote down in my draft when I was here a couple months ago (I'm still catching up) : "now…read more*that* is some good squid" - I'd had exceptionally mediocre squid for lunch the previous day, from a place that was also supposed to be good (it was the opposite). Squid here was delicious, perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and a bunch of it. Great potatoes to go with it, too. I'd eat here every day if I could. The "couvert" was fish pate from a tin, not made in-house, but it's Portugal, so the tinned fish was still great, obviously. The olives with it were just ok, but the bread was great. I was also happy that they did, indeed, understand that we were going to share it, but only wanted a couvert plate serving for one (I hadn't been sure.) I was a little sad my wife really wanted red meat that day, so we couldn't get the seafood sampler platter for 2, but her pork chop was also great, I know because it was also huge, so I ended up eating like a third of it. Also perfectly cooked and seasoned, and it did go great with fries. The fries were also great, too, super freshly made and perfectly crispy, though the one downside, everything else but the fries were ready super quickly, then the fries showed up after we were about halfway done eating the rest of it. Definitely freshly cooked, though! Also unlike the place the previous day that served us exceptionally mediocre squid the previous day, they also sell very affordable wines here. They have a good number of extremely reasonably priced half-bottles of all types, but we didn't need a whole half-bottle of wine, so I just got a glass of the house white, which was, at least as of a couple months ago, only 2.5 euros! Seriously, I'd come here all the time if I could.I wish I had gotten to try everything on the menu.

Most fishes also come with a side of boiled potatoes lightly salted (see picture of sardines). It's a classic European restaurant on the inside with many small tables inside with a few on the patio. Staff were overall very pleasant with a constant stream of staff members bringing food and checking in. As we were travelers and do not know much Portuguese at all, they still made us feel welcome and had good English language skills.

Naturally, as we were early, there were not many other patrons in the restaurant. So the service was quick, and we were brought a plethora of meats in a short time, as expected. Encouraged by the volume of meats we were receiving, we limited our trips to the buffet (so as to not use up valuable real estate). A few times we were missed on the meat rotation, however to remedy this grave error, we were each brought four generous slices of picanha (but no seconds.) As the meal continued, service started to slow down and the restaurant got progressively more crowded. We felt as though we were being encouraged to stop eating. However, we continued requesting more meats until we were rudely CUT OFF by the lead server, while other tables around us (who had been there as long) continued to receive their meats as promised. Meanwhile, we had to practically BEG for the grilled abacaxi (grilled pineapple with cinnamon, a critical way to end the meal). In all of our experience consuming meats (both at churasquerias and other establishments more broadly) we have never been cut off when promised an "all-you-can eat" deal. If the all-you-can-eat was limited to one hour, this should have been clearly specified, and perhaps we would have dined elsewhere.

I came to this Brazilian churasqueira with five Brazilians. These people know what a good Brazilian…read moreBBQ restaurant should be, but this was certainly not one. It's a huge restaurant but was pretty empty when we came at 5pm. I can imagine that it gets fairly busy at the height of the summer with all the tourists as it is in a prime location right next to the Oceanarium, the Science Museum and the cable car. Because of this, they probably don't need to rely on return custom and this would explain the shoddy service. For a anyone who doesn't know how a churasqueira works, you basically pay a set price for all-you-can-east meat brought to the table on a selection of skewers and carved on to you plate until you say stop! There are usually many different cuts of beef as well as some lamb, pork, and chicken dishes. The meat here was ok, but nothing exceptional. The buffet at most Brazilian restaurants is normally so amazing that it competes with the meet to fill your belly. Think sushi, cheeses, charcuterie, fish and lots of exciting salad dishes. At this restaurant, not only was 70% of the buffet space empty, what was there was totally pathetically - limp lettuce, and bowl of uncut and undressed cherry tomatoes, and a few unidentified fried objects that I really didn't want to touch. We also ordered the additional seafood sharing plate for two and when this turned up it looked pretty impressive. Unfortunately, the prawns were old and tough, the muscles looked like they had been hanging around too long, and the crab sticks (from the 1980's?!) were just unappetising. The only decent part was the seafood dip in the middle. One of our waiters was so lazy, he didn't change the plates or bring new cutlery when required and was slow with the drinks orders. On top of this, he was quite rude and unfriendly. The only saving grace for this place was our meat waiter who was not only super fast at bringing around the meat dishes, he was really friendly and entertaining, and actually made an enjoyable evening out of mediocre food. The house vino verde was also good and I did leave feeling pretty stuffed so not all was lost. If you are visiting this area of town, I would recommend avoiding this tourist trap and searching out something far more local and authentic.
