With the gyro meat slowly roasting on the broiler, I knew I had to get the pita kebab. An order of the sandwich with extra spicy sauce was placed with a gentleman behind the counter. With his swift actions, my pita kebab was ready in a matter of minutes. The stuffed sandwich was so good that I quickly devoured it without minding my manners. While I was here, the guy suggested an order of bacalhau fritters. As you may or may not know, bacalhau is known as one of Lisbon's many traditional foods. Having never tried any types of fish cakes, I took his suggestion and ordered one. Initially, I wasn't impressed but ultimately the salted cod fritters eventually grew on me. If I must describe it, these fritters reminded me of fish sticks except maybe just a tad on the fishy side. For an abundance of food and the cheap price, I'm glad to have found such a place!

Meat was flavorful and moist, not too salty, the garlic sauce was creamy and strong, fries were good, and salad was fresh. Small little restaurant with a few seats and takeaway, but it's open late and the food really hit the spot!

My wife was really looking forward to returning here in 2018 but we were disappointed. Nothing was bad. It was just mediocre. It wasn't as good as our visits in 2016. We arrived just after they opened for dinner at 6PM. Although we were the only people in the restaurant, we weren't allowed to sit in their one window seat because they keep that open for a writer who frequents the place. We also weren't able to get any naan bread because they didn't pre-heat the oven and said it would take 30-45 minutes after opening for it to be ready. The Papari Masali (papadums) were decent, as were the Chamuças de Frango (samosas). An order of jirra rice is definitely enough for 2. My wife had a spicy chicken curry dish that isn't on the menu on the web site. I had a Seekh kabab, a grilled minced lamb kabab. It was good, but overcooked. The total price was 36 Euros, including beers, which I have nothing to complain about. All in all, it was, as I said before, mediocre. The server and staff were friendly as always. We will probably return for a late night curry after a night of Bairro Alto drinking, but there are other Indian restaurants in Lisboa that have been recommended by an Indian friend that we will likely pursue for a planned dinner next visit.

There is a beautiful, quiet outdoor dining room with lovely quiet music, and the prices are LOW. Highly recommended.

Everyone loved what was served. Because it was so good, we decided to go back the next day and we all ordered different food to try out the next day. The second day we went back, Bf wasn't feeling very well. One of their staff would come by to ask him if he needs anything else and is feeling better once a while. Overall they not only showed their food is awesome, the customer service has exceeded expectation by far. The stuffed mushroom and kebab lollipop are very tasty and flavorful as well.

When I walked into the nondescript place I was immediately met by the bartender and host who knew 5 languages and mixed me up a concoction off the top of her head. Then I was lead back to the seating area which is basically inside a greenhouse. I got sat at my table for one and had the most amazing service throughout the night. Everyone came by (I think because they knew I was the only solo diner there- not recommended for this type of place in my opinion) to ensure that I was still having a great time and enjoying everything. Lots of small talk which was pleasant. The food blew me away and was basically elevated recipes of local food. It is a tasting menu and the journey that they took me through definitely challenged my tastebuds a few times, but super enjoyable and a great blend of rustic and high end techniques. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in this area...just maybe not alone so you're not sitting solo in the corner, kind of like a creep, while everyone else was on a date.

We went during a transition period for the restaurant, the head chef and the creative force for the restaurant had just announced that she was leaving and it was being transition to a new head chef. We ordered the option with less moments because we had forgotten we had this reservation and had ate a larger lunch before so we were not that hungry. The first that came out was a beautiful beet tartare (I don't eat raw beef so they replaced the beef tartare) and a pickled mussel which I didn't care for the flavor for either. After that was the bread moment which the bread was delicious but disappointing that from a 5 moment tasting menu bread was 1 of the moments. We then had the leche de Tigre that was very delicious After was the hamachi which was delicious but was only two small pieces The next was the ox tongue that I felt I had to force myself to eat. The tongue was cooked boiled and didn't have much flavor but it resulted in a texture that I didn't care for. I love eel but the piece was so small I couldn't even tell it was there. Finally the dessert, the yuzu rice pudding with jasmine ice cream was okay. The ice cream felt like it had gotten freezer burn and was not sweet at all so the balance felt thrown off. We had some of the most delicious desserts in Portugal so this was lackluster. The surprise desserts were good but nothing that blew me away. I'm interested to see how the concept changes now that it's under new leadership because this was very disappointing especially at the price point it was.

It all started by having to wait 1 Hour and 50 minutes on our food! There were 6 of us and after 37 minutes when we asked when the food arrives a young women and men responded that it will be there within a few minutes. Another 20 minutes passed and we asked again for our food. The women said it will be there in a few minutes, it's coming right up! The man then came and mentioned that the long wait is because of the meat (chicken kebab) we ordered! He shouldn't have even said that. It was extremely rude to point fingers at our guests like that. Then they bring the chicken kebab out first and the rest of the food came out 20 minutes after that!!! The food they brought to us was literally food waste of other people's dishes!!! The "steak" could not and I repeat could not be cut! Literally after 7 attempts it could not be cut with a sharp knife. It felt like a rock and was burnt! The fish and shrimp were all dried up. The vegetarian dish looked liked mashed indian rice. Disgusting. None of the meals looked like the pictures advertised on their menus! I filmed everything and I wish I could upload it here. We did not touch the food and asked to only pay for the water, beer and soup we had. The young man who was very rude seemed to be the owner too and was forcing us to pay for it all. He yelled at us in front of other people and at some point event got too close and we thought he wanted to hit us. One of our guests who is always very calm told him to not touch him. he then continued threatening us that we have to pay and we said we can't eat this food. He just took a quick look at the steak (as he knew what he gave us but was hoping he could get away with it and we eat that crap) and said I can take the steak and bring something else. We refused and he yelled and I told him to bavk off and not get to close to us otherwise I will call the cops on him. We paid him what we ate/drank and then I wanted to take a picture of the receipt and he ran to me to gran the receipt (most likely as their information was on it) and said you didn't eat anything so you dont need that. Howeve, I snapped a quick picture. Folks, stay away from that place! Otherwise you will get sick!!

To both of them equally I say, there are very few places I'd be willing to stand in line for an hour for, and few of them involve meat on bread. Luckily, being the off-season, I didn't have *any* wait to order a sandwich. Unluckily, being the off season, that's also because it kept raining off and on, and this is a strictly take-out affair. So I ended up eating the sandwich under a nearby awning. In nicer weather conditions, though, there are plenty of nearby benches to sit on right there. Would i wait in a long line? I would not. But it was a legitimately great sandwich, great fluffy bread, great cheese if you splurge on cheese (as of a couple months ago, they were 3.5 euro without cheese, 5.5 with cheese), and solid, juicy, meaty meat, even if I do *personally* prefer the thin-sliced version like the other place I went, did. For how filling they are, that'd make them pretty darn affordable, if you don't add cheese, which I would probably keep doing anyway if I lived here, I'd just go when it was the off-season and not busy, *and* not raining*. At least as of when I was there, being a takeout place, they didn't have much in the way of drinks, but there was an unrelated business in the next alcove over selling cheap large glasses of beer and large blended fruity pineapple drinks. p.s. Make sure to absolutely douse your sandwich in mustard and chili oil, if you like spicy food like I do. They're self-serve, and great.

Two years running this was our favorite bifana…read more Location was a bit challenging as only the door leading into the restaurant was for locals while the window on the other side served all others. The challenge was the limited sidewalk in front and the lines extend across the street. People don't always realize they're standing in the middle of a street until they get honked at by a car. Menu was posted on the left behind the window. Plain and with cheese bifanas topped the menu but there were other choices as well like carne asada, egg and fish. Cash was the only tender accepted. The pork in the bifanas was constantly simmered and pulled out to make each sandwich individually. The bread was chibatta like and quite soft that enveloped the strips of pork. I added piri piri aauce and yellow mustard (big squirt bottles available on the counters to each side of the window) which gave it more flavor. A simple but great local sandwich. To avoid lines come at odd hours. I also came a little after lunch hour in moderate rain and there was just one person ahead of me.
