Found this place while on a trip to Lisbon. The ambiance was nice and the food was good enough. The spice level were at point and my friend and I enjoyed our dinner there. **EAT HERE**When you first walk in it appears to be a very small restaurant. However, when you walk to the back it is actually a huge place! They make all of the Naan fresh in an open fire oven. Plenty of tables and servers. Extensive wine and cocktails menu. Food was hot and delicious! They ask what level of heat you want. Servings appear to be small but they give you plenty of food. I thought it was odd that you had to pay for white rice to accompany your entree but the serving was huge. Located just above Rossio Station.I highly recommend. read more

Wowie! After enjoying all the good Portuguese food we decided we wanted something a little different. Indian food is one our favorites and we were steered to find this place after seeing the good reviews. After venturing on a 20 minute walk from hotel, we found it. Since we eat earlier than most of the locals do, the place was really empty when we arrived and opted to sit inside after seeing the spacious dining area with an athrium. Service was spot on from the start and everyone spoke good English. Being that we had a craving for fresh green salad, we started mixed greens to share which was literally all greens - lots of arugula, water cress and romaine dressed in very light lemon oo and seasoned perfectly,. It was really refreshing and fresh. For $5, we weren't expecting the large serving which is perfect for two. We shared a Lamb Dhansak which was perfectly cooked in a curry sauce with lentils and a Saag chicken. I love the way the chicken is stewed in the spinach curry which was exquisitely prepared. We of course wiped all of this up with our order of mixed naan with garlic and cheese and ended with a desert recommended by our hostess. Honestly, I can't remember the name of it but it tasted like thick crepes with a chewy texture, pefect amount of sweetness. Terrible service and food. Pushy waitress keeps trying to get you to order more. When I asked for the bill, they instead brought a QR code with a link to review them and stood watching for me to review them. Had to ask three times to pay before they finally allowed me to. Looking at other reviews, this is their common tactic and why they have so many reviews. Shady restaurant tried to get my review taken down by complaining I'm a "competitor". read more

We found this place really excellent food wise. So much so we went three nights in a row; twice for sit down Indian (about €45 a night for two including a quarter bottle of rosé wine and a pint of Heineken beer) and in once for a take - out chicken tandoori pizza at €12. The pizza was delicious too. I had the same Indian sit - in meal both times: matar paneer with Peshwari nan in a mega tasty sauce. The food was glorious. The paneer had chunks of cheese, slivers of fresh ginger, medium spiced, also green peas. The nans were the best we've had in years with generous sweet almond paste filling, small cashews, pistachio nuts and sultanas. Even writing about it I want another nan. My wife and I shared the nan and a perfectly boiled basmati rice - neither nan nor rice came included with the main. She had chicken tikka masala night one declaring it great. Night two she had lamb seekh kebab main with a tiny cold mint sauce. Again mega tasty, great quality, lamb mince mildly spiced, juicy and a good portion. It came on a smoking platter with lots of still cooking onions. The service was ace, the restaurant cosy despite being huge and the servers friendly. I assume they cooked the nan and the tandoori meats in the pizza oven. I noted as I left the oven was set at 275c. Serious heat. One thing I didn't like was what flowed when I checked in on Yelp as an offer popped up for a free shot for each main. They first tried to say it wasn't for their restaurant when it was and then despite a series of whispers among staff and the presumed owner not another word was said. No shot offered. It hadn't happened. I'm sure it wouldn't have broken the bank and it caused a bad taste. Had they offered a shot we likely would have declined but they should have honoured the deal. Left a bit of a bad taste. Still keeping it 5 star but yelpers beware if an offer appears. read more

We ate here twice in October 2024. The food was so good. We thought it was just a storefront tandoori pizza place, but in addition to the small patio out front for sidewalk dining, inside there is a very pleasant and large dining space. Service was good, the ambiance was nice, fair prices, and walking distance from our Placa de Alegria hotel. Ordered takeout from here on the first night we were in Lisbon. After nearly 2 weeks of travel, we wanted to have tasty, quick takeout dinner. We ordered and the tandoori chicken and butter chicken delivered. The food was prepared quickly and arrived still hot which was great. Some of the best tandoori I have had! So flavorful, tender and moist with 2 drumsticks and 2 breasts. It also came with a ton of garlic naan. Everything was delicious. My friend said this was some of the best butter chicken she has had as well, The sauce was super rich, spiced and warming with large chunks of white meat. It was so good that my friend had it again the next night while I ate the leftover tandoori chicken. Highly recommend if wanting something a little different while staying in Lisbon. read more

Very disappointed with this restaurant. To start with it was busy and the waitress dealing with us was so rude in the sense she could not be bothered to look at us she just kept looking around everywhere except us and could not care less about anything we did or didn't want. I actually have never experienced this in a restaurant before. We ordered the Poppadoms and some mango chutney and other sauces, this was ok but they didn't ask and took the sauces away after we finished our poppadoms, normally other places ask if you would like to keep them and we saw the waiter wipe the sides of the dishes and refill them to give to another customer. I'm sorry but this is just so unhygienic. Of course this really put us off our meal. The food was ok but not great by any means. I only chose his restaurant as it had some really good reviews. Also, we explicitly asked for tap water (which we understand you have to do in Europe!), and, not only did they bring us bottled water, but asked us if we wanted another bottle, brought it to us without answering our question about how much it would be, and then charged us €7.50 for both :( read more

The food and the service were great. we stumbled on this place as we wandered the neighborhoods. We had the chicken soup, Chicken and lamb (all pictured) as well as the garlic naan and the daal soup. they also had a yummy spicy condiment. Food was good, service wasn't at par. That's why giving 2 stars. No one ever came to ask me if I need anything else. No one ever came to ask me how was the food. Rather while I was heading out I was asked "Did you pay?" First time in a restaurant I was asked such a question in the whole world, that too by a native Indian lady! I walked 2 miles to get to an Indian restaurant with 4+ stars. I wonder if they would have done the same to a white person. Horrible! read more

We dined at Bengal Tandoori a few weeks ago and I thought the meal was good, although I thought the service was lacking. When we arrived, there was one couple in the large front room, but the server put us in the small back room - with another couple. We felt odd sitting way in the back with another couple who was talking very loudly - it put an immediate damper on the evening. The server didn't offer any suggestions on items to order or even seem very friendly. Given that we are American and not of the Indian culture - whenever we go to an Indian restaurant in the States, the server always suggests items that we might not be familiar with that they like. Not at all here - he just wanted our order. So we got the usual chicken tikka masala, prawn vindaloo, garlic naan and rice. The food came very quickly and don't get me wrong - was quite good and was kept very hot by warming dishes. But the whole waiter experience left a little to be desired with the place. read more

This place was the perfect solution to my Indian food craving. The staff were lovely, speaking great English even when our server said he only knew a little. He asked where we were from and seemed genuinely interested. The food was great. Super spicy lamb vindaloo, perfectly balanced with a chicken madras, both full of flavour. I was jet lagged and looking for a pick me up, so i ordered lamb curry, naan bread and an Imperial beer. The curry was superb! Not hot, but with very well balanced spices, including fresh shredded ginger. Yum! The Imperial went really well with it too. The waiters were chatty and friendly and fluent in English. Just for a couple of days in Lisbon, staying in a hotel on Avenida da Liberdade. We checked out a couple of places in the neighborhood to have Indian food, but this place definately won the contest. Great menu, clean place, super friendly staff and best of all... a couple of great cooks! We had lamb Rogan Josh and extra spicy chicken Vindaloo with a Cobra beer.
