This was good pizza - but with the amount of awards this place has honestly I was expecting to be blown away, which I wasn't. Everything else about the visit was extremely pleasant though. There was a bit of a wait for our table even though we had a reservation, but the folks ahead of us who were at our table were having such a good time that I didn't even mind waiting for them to finish up their drinks. Our server was attentive the entire time which was very much appreciated. There's a cool ambiance about this restaurant -- everyone here (except me!) were dressed very trendy. We started off with a round of caipirinhas which were well made and strong. For pizzas, we went with the caprese and margherita pizzas which were a nice balance. Forno ad'oro has excellent pizza and service. We ordered 2 Margarita pies, 1 Diavola, and 1 vegetarian. We devoured all 3 pizzas, but our favorite by far was the Margarita, and we ended up ordering a 4th pie. For dessert, we shared their fresh tiramisu with the perfect balance of cocoa and espresso. This restaurant deserves every accolade, and should I ever visit Lisbon again, I would definitely eat here again. I would not hesitate to recommend for residents and travelers alike. White table-clothed pizza restaurant with supposedly some of the best pizza around. I got a prosciutto pie with mozzarella and ricotta (€). The pizza was to be eaten with a fork and a knife. It was very good for non-NY style, but it was bland. The crust was good because it was chewy, thin but not thinny thin, and not puffy. Alright, I mean, this place has won the coveted Verace Napolitana Pizza Award...which is supposed to be like the equivalent of a michelin star in the pizza world (neopolitan pizza to be precise). Now, if I know anything about food, I know pizza. I have the big ass italian nose to prove it. This is supposedly the best pizza in portugal. So I had to try it. Come one now?! First, neopolitan pizza isn't the best style of pizza by a long shot...but it can be really good. This pizza was basically some smashed tomatoes on a soggy crust, with cheese that slid off the pie, and salami instead of pepperoni. I understand Europe isn't as pepperoni forward as the US...but the salami had no business. The sauce, was just unseasoned tomatoes...WHO THE EFF GAVE THEM AN AWARD!! It did help us determine how many pizzas to order. We tried two new to us pizzas and started with bruschetta. The bruschetta was amazing, would 10/10 recommend. After feenin' for pizza for a couple days we ventured up the steep hills of Lisboa and made it here after TripAdvisor convinced me with its one Michelin star rating. I slowly got over that once we were greeted by the AMAZING staff here. Food as follows: Starter: Burrata and focaccia bread. The burrata is legit flown in daily from Italy and it truly was unbelievable (watch video). So fresh and creamy. Entrees: 1) Diavola pizza. The pizza was thin and bursting in amazing flavors. The pizza comes out completely whole and uncut. I cut it into 6 and refused to use my fork and knife do devour this goodness. 2) Wife got the gnocchi and it is clearly home made gnocchi with lots of cheese. It was perfectly rationed in tomato sauce and pasta. Truly stunning dish. Dessert: We chose the cheesecake. The cheese was oddly soft and provided a soft texture unlike that from. The famous NY Jr's cheesecake. It was delicious with a flavorful and deep crust with berry spread. I totally see why it has received a Michelin star. It is damn worth it and easy in the pockets. CASH ONLY- read below for ugly details Let me start by saying the pizza here is great. It's not the best or most authentic I've had but it's definitely worth the trip, especially if you're looking for a break from the local staples. The service is decent- they definitely give the tourists a different experience. As is common in Portugal, they will put food on the table and charge you for it. They gave us a basket of focaccia, as well as a piece of tomato bruschetta for each person. Your chance to decline is now or never. You'll be charged ~€2 each for the bruschetta and another ~€2 for the bread for the table. It's not a huge deal (and the bruschetta was delicious), but it's something to be aware of. We ordered one pizza from the Portugal section and another from the Italian section. Both were great. The crust was soft and doughy but held up to the toppings nicely and the flavor was on point. We dipped the crust in the olive oil they left for the focaccia and took our leftover pizza home as it was too good to leave. At the end of the meal we asked for the check and instead were served two glasses of port. I clarified that the waiter did in fact say "complimentary" and then allowed him to pour. It was a nice touch and I'll never pass up a taste of port to finish off a meal. I'm not usually one to be snobby about small charges on the bill but based on what I witnessed at the next table, I was extra vigilant here. The two girls dining next to us were told that their credit card could not be accepted and spent 20 minutes scrounging for euros and even visiting an ATM down the street. When it was our turn to pay, the waiter kindly asked that I pay at the counter with my card. At the counter he told me that they could only accept Portuguese credit cards as the machine was broken. I'm calling BS, because I've just read multiple reviews from as long as a year ago stating the same thing- foreign cards turned away for cash. Overall- good pizza. Just bring cash. read more

This place is a gem in the heart of Lisbon. Everything about it is perfect - starting from the service, to the soothing candlelit ambience, to the food. It is a small space, so it helps to have a reservation. We started off with burrata with focaccia bread, which is flown in from Italy every day so you can rest assured that it is as fresh as can be! It tasted incredible! Four our entrées, we went with the historica pizza and the gnocchi, both of which were fabulous! The historica pizza had fresh figs in it, which made it very unique and tasty. The gnocchi had to be the best I've ever had - yes, comparing it to the restaurants I've eaten in Rome. Also, it is incredibly reasonably priced for a nice, sitdown Italian restaurant. Came here for dinner, walking by the place looked inviting, and the menu had lots of choice. Luckily they had a two top open, and a menu came quickly. Great photos help you to get an idea if this is unfamiliar cuisine, and they do get lots of tourists, myself included. The staff eventually warmed up from their earlier boredom, and the meal was really good. Great wines, nice bears, all very Italian. The shot of Limoncello at the end was a great touch. Nice stop in Lisbon! We were exhausted after a full day of traveling and this was one of the few places by our hotel that was open on a Sunday. There were plenty of seats when we first walked in and were seated right away. The wait staff was very attentive. We started off with the bruschetta that was brought to our table (not free FYI). It was very tasty. There was also some foaccia bread and butter that was very light and tasty. There are many different beer options, most bottled and a tasty house red wine. You can best judge an italian restaurant by its most basic pizza: the magherita! That being said, it was a great pizza. Not too fluffy, thin and a crisp bite at the edge. Mozarella very soft an tomatoes like freshly picked at grandmas garden. The indian guy serving me (there are like five other italian guys) was hard to listen to, but he was always kind and tried to make it right. Ordered two pizzas for delivery recently. The restaurant prepared the order very quickly and it was delivered to my door in record time. The problem was that the pizzas were both significantly undercooked. The dough was basically raw in the middle two thirds of the pizza and inedible. I realize these are hard times for everyone but in the future more care should be taken with the quality of pizzas going out. If We had dined in we could've sent them back but for delivery, that's not an easy option. No one likes raw pizza dough...blecch! read more

Our server Flavio was delightful and full of exquisite tips on places to visit while in Portugal and a wonderful person. This is a top notch restaurant and literally around the corner from our Airbnb. We had a reservation for 7:30 (stayed until 9pm). Two of us shared the following: pizza/appetizer with fresh burrata and black truffles, arugula salad, and spaghetti con vongole (clams). For desert we shared the tiramisu. The food was excellent. The service outstanding. The atmosphere amazingly very comfortable, very little background noise, able to carry on a conversation without raising our voice or sharing our conversation with anyone else. Warning... The bruschetta and bread basket placed on the table with a gracious bow is not free and we had no idea there was a charge for it, but as we ooohed over it and reached in the waiter hastily informed us that if you "consume" it you will be charged. Apparently this is a "practice" that some restaurants follow. I was not the only diner caught by surprise. One table insisted the waiter immediately remove both plates. Although the pizza was admittedly good, I was not dazzled by it, maybe because I had really expected to order pasta, but changed my mind when I discovered that it is not freshly made. Despite the sparkling reviews and all the hype, this is little more than a hoity-toity pizza restaurant with an over inflated self image.
