We were craving some pasta and happened to find this place near by. We were SO impressed by the service and at really fair prices. We paid about 15 euros for fresh pasta which was totally worth the price. The pasta tasted great and exceeded our expectations. A lot of places in Europe you don't get the best service, but here they are so professional and incredibly friendly. The staff was welcoming and offered to explain anything on the menu for us so we knew what to order, which was so helpful. He told us to let him know what we were looking for and he had a lot of good information and recommendations. If you're nearby you need to try this place!! I feel so lucky to have come across this gem of a restaurant. Not only is the food amazing, but they really do treat you like family! They took fantastic care of me without a reservation on a night when I didn't realize many restaurants are typically closed.... Anyway, I love Portuguese food but I needed a little break, and Casanostra did not disappoint! ***Sidenote maybe US tourists might find useful: I live in NYC and the food at Casanostra is on par in my opinion with some really good Italian I've had when I lived in Italy and is definitely better quality than most of the overpriced NYC Italian and for far less $$. Okay, who goes to Lisbon and has Italian food? Well, I did and I'm not ashamed to admit it. In fact, I'd do it again. I started out with the bresaola, beautifully cured beef served with arugula and shaved parm, much like you'd see beef carpaccio. I followed that up with the much touted lasagne. It was just as delicious as other reviewers have claimed. Very rich, not greasy at all. Although I'm not much for desserts, I got the zabaglione freddo. It turned out to be perfect. A light, refreshing end to the meal. The house red was very nice. Service was perfect. Most of the servers spoke excellent English. read more

Very difficult to get to, but worth the effort. First, it is very different from most other restaurants, no one asking for business in the streets. It is a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We had reservations at 8 pm and there was various breads, , pesto and two other sauces and black olives on the table. Very yummy. We started with t the carprese salad, very fresh and light. I had the shrimp and broccoli with pasta. Very good. DH had lasagna and it was really good. Also three beers and one glass of wine for 48 Euro. Very enjoyable dinner! read more

Great place for dinner...yummm! This place is awesome if you want some tasty, authentic Italian food in Lisbon. It was a bit difficult to find but it's nestled between the narrow streets of Lisbon, totally worth it! My mom & I went on a Sunday night & sat outside. We both started out with the minestrone soup which wasn't overly seasoned but very fresh & good! It was topped with melted cheese which was reallyyy good! I ordered the lasagna & she ordered the scallops with zucchini & eggplant. The scallops were actually thinly sliced, marinated pork. To her surprise, the dish ended up being delicious (I tried some so I can attest). The lasagna tasted very fresh & had beef & mushrooms We ended up ordering dessert as well. They have a very extensive dessert menu so you'd be missing out if you choose not to order any. We shared the tiramisu & this cream & blueberries dish...both were so good! My husband and I stopped in for lunch. It was nearly empty, which is a shame because it's a very nice restaurant. The service is wonderful and we really liked the food. I had the caprese spaghetti, which had a little too much liquid, but the spaghetti was perfectly al denté. My husband really liked his meat cannelloni. I also had the house red which wasn't great on its own, but was pretty good with my meal. I'd recommend giving this one a shot. read more

If you want to eat something else than Portuguese food in the Bairo Alto, I highly recommend you to try this place. They serve high quality and very tasty Italian food. This place was authentic and delicious Italian food. The staff was friendly and helpful to explain menu since there wasn't an English one. They provide bread basket olives and tapenade free of charge so we passed on an appetizer. I ordered the recommended spinach and ricotta pasta dish with homemade pasta that came baked in a in foil pouch. It was delicious! The waiter said it was he house favorite for 70 years.
