Chicken tikka masala and the giant naan of my dreams
    Abby B.

Two words: GIANT NAAN. Once I saw Masala's colossal carb creation on Yelp, I knew we had to stop by during our day trip to Cascais. The food was spectacular. Hands down some of the best Indian food I've ever had. The giant naan almost brought tears to my eyes. The chicken tikka masala was wonderful, though I wish there was a little more kick to it. My husband and I both agreed that it was one of our favorite meals during our trip to Portugal. My only drawback here was the place itself. The staff wasn't very friendly, though they were attentive. As in they stood behind our table almost our whole meal, which was slightly uncomfortable. We sat outside, but when I went inside to use their bathroom, the restaurant seemed like a scary dark cave. And the bathrooms themselves were just as scary and dark. I would brave that bathroom again just to have that naan. If you're in the area and you're a fan of Indian food, definitely stop by Masala.

After an afternoon of exploring Cascais, we were hungry and decided to look for a place to eat before taking the train back to Lisbon. After eating Portugese food every meal for 2 days, we were excited to try out a different type of cuisine and saw that this restaurant was very popular on Tripadvisor. We got here around 6pm on a Thursday and snagged one of the last free tables. One thing I immediately noticed was that the restaurant was very dark. It was so dark that my bf had to take out his phone and use the light to read the menu. Not sure why they were going for such a dark ambiance, but it didn't really bother me as long as the food is good. There is also free wifi in the restaurant which I was thankful for since my portable wifi had been acting up all day. We ordered the garlic naan, chicken tikka masala and beef curry. I was very happy to find out that they serve Cobra beer, which is a super smooth Indian beer that I've been obsessed with ever since I had it for the first time in London. The dishes came out in small pots that are kept warm over a small candle. The portions looked a bit small at first, but there is actually a lot of food and I was very full by the end of the meal. The chicken tikka masala was great. The chicken was tender, and the sauce tasted unique but in a good way. It had a good blend of spices but was sweeter than the normal chicken tikka masala that I'm used to. I don't have a great spice tolerance but I didn't think the dish was spicy at all. So if you are a fan of spicy food, you might want to tell them to make it extra spicy. The beef was a bit tough, but the curry sauce was bomb. I couldn't stop dipping the garlic naan in the sauce. Great place to stop by!

    Delicious !!!

Best food I've had in Portugal!!! Great service..I'm glad I decided to stop and have Indian , I was getting pretty sad about the food in Portugal, and on my 4th day here I found masala .. Thank god... You have to go there....chicken tikka masala ..the best...

Starter on the house. Really good!

We went here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised to have everything be 20% off. The service was good, not slow at all, and the food was great! The rice and naan cost extra, but you could easily share just one between two people. We had kofta dumplings and butter prawns, both very sweet curries. The sauces in the on-the-house starter were also fantastic. The presentation and atmosphere were also admirable. Five stars.

Chicken tikka Marsala, Lamb Curry, Garlic Nan!! The outside seating was also very nice. Got to see the world stroll by as we ate lunch.

Great restaurant. The lamb Korma was the best that I have had anywhere. The butter Nan and paratha were also excellent.

We had a few dietary restrictions in our group (dairy free, gluten free, no spicy, etc). And the server explained and checked every dish that we could order. He even came up with an off-the-menu dish to meet the restrictions as most dishes were too spicy. We got: Papadh - freshly fried and served with tamarind sauce, mint chutney, and mango chutney. We ordered 2 to share amongst the 4 of us and it was perfect. Palak paneer - soft house made paneer cheese with a delicious spinach sauce. Perfectly spiced and generous portions. Lamb shishi - tender pieces of boneless lamb pieces in a sweet cashew/almond sauce. Mildly spiced, but still a ton of flavor. It's similiar to lamb korma but with a hint of sweetness. If you don't like spice but still want the complex Indian flavors, this is the dish for you. mango shrimp - big pieces of shrimp swimming in a warm and well spiced mango puree sauce. It's different than how I'd imagine mango shrimp, but it was still tasty and had a nice balance between sweet and salty. This was the dish the server modified to meet our gluten-free, spice-free, and dairy free needs. We chose to sit outside in the back alley and it was small side street with a partial view of the ocean. A few pedestrians walked by, but it was still a lovely spot. After our meal, it started pouring and the roads flooded quickly. The restaurant wasn't too busy, so they encouraged us wait inside till the rain stopped. Great hospitality

We started with paneer tikka and chicken tikka--both came in generous portions and were freshly made. The chutneys paired really well and added to the overall flavor. We also had a bottle of Piano red wine, which surprisingly worked quite nicely with the food. For the main course, everything was delicious. Standouts for us were the butter chicken, palak paneer, biryani, prawn curry, and garlic naan. The food tasted very fresh and well prepared, and you could tell care went into each dish. Service was fast despite the size of our group, which we really appreciated. Most importantly, everyone had a good time--especially the kids. Overall, a very enjoyable meal with great food and warm hospitality. Would definitely recommend for both small and large groups!

I had the meat and seafood thali, both were good, but I definitely preferred the meat one. Chai isn't on the menu, but they said it we'd available when I asked. The chai was also quite good and in a really cute pot. One thing that could have made it better though is if the pot had better insulation, the tea got cold really quick.
