Super shocked at how good this Indian restaurant actually turned out to be! For it being in such a touristy area, I thought the food would be sub-par. In fact, they ended up being one of the best meals I had in Lisbon. They had an entirely vegan menu available with most items costing around 8€, which is not bad compared to prices in the U.S. I ordered the Baigan Bartha which is my go-to eggplant, onion, and tomato dish that I enjoy at a lot of Indian restaurants. I also ordered a side of roti which they checked to make sure butter or ghee was not used in the preparation process. My dish had so much flavor and came with a lot too. The roti was fine and was really used as a vehicle to transport the eggplant to my mouth. Really glad I was able to find this spot and enjoy the food here! I do wish that the curries or mains would include rice instead of having that be an add-on. But that's a small note in an otherwise great meal. read more

Regrettably, discovered this place on our last evening in Lisbon - Christmas Day dinner; thankfully the restaurant was open! One word to describe the food, service, value - Superb! Given our experience the reviews don't do the place full justice. Welcoming and attentive staff who are eager to please; a diverse menu of South Indian and North Indian cuisines, actually cooked by South and North Indian chefs, respectively. Ordered Masala Chai, Medu Vada and Pani Puri as starters and Masala Dosa, Ghee Dosa, Fish Xiacutti, and Coconut Rice for mains. Food arrived promptly and tasted excellent; however, Pani in Pani Puri could be less sweet and more spicy/sharp as it is in India. The restaurant was well attended by regulars as well as other locals and tourists such as ourselves. The meal for three set us back by EU52, which is excellent value given the quality! We greatly enjoyed the restaurant's food and ate dinner for 3 nights in a row! My husband is vegetarian, so we ordered vegetable biryani, daal makhani, paneer, and malai kofta. All the dishes were delicious. Our friends ordered fish and their kebabs, which they enjoyed greatly. The naans were also tasty. The staff was attentive, and the food was quick to order. I'm not a fan of Indian food but my wife is making this restaurant perfect for the both of us. We showed up at 7pm on a Wednesday night to find a mostly empty dining room. We were warmly greeted and offered our pick of tables. We were given two menus one Indian and one Italian. My wife found her favorite butter chicken while I went with spaghetti bolognese. We got a half bottle of red wine to go with our meal. Both menus had lots of choices in each food genre. They also have a nice wine list but we got the house variety. Thus far they have the best portion size for cost. For an appetizer, I ordered a veggies samosa. I think that I actually received a chicken samosa and it came with a small cabbage salad. After 2 weeks in Spain and Portugal, we wanted some spicy warm Indian food. We went for Paneer tikka masala and cheese garlic naan and peshawari naan. The sabzi was really good. perfect spice levels and naan was so fluffy and hot. There was adequate cheese in the naan ( not enough for my liking) but no garlic taste. Good Indian food, just a little pricey! I came here and got the fish masala and the tuna salad. The salad (although it wasn't Indian at all) was less than $6 and came with a lot of tuna! The restaurant is kitschy -- but hey, with a name like Gandhi Palace, what else would you expect!! xD The food was meh -- started with the caprese (average) and ended with a shrimp pasta (average). My in-laws are from India, so of course they love Indian food. After a few days of European cuisine without many spices, they were ready for some flavors from home. Twice, fellow Indians called out to them in Hindi and suggested they come here. Pretty sure they work for these guys, but okay. You can have Indian food or Italian food. Yes, really. We all went Indian and I had some chana chaat. It was fine, but pretty boring. My family had a much better experience and were thrilled with their food, but I have a feeling it was more about the comfort of home rather than the actual quality. I do love Indian food because it's so easy to find something vegan, and this place is no exception. So if you need to shake things up a bit, you can try Gandhi Palace, but I wouldn't waste my stomach space on it again. read more

Very rarely do I find an Indian restaurant that I HAVE to visit again and recommend to everyone. But there are exceptions - like Gandhi Palace. If I actually lived in Lisbon, I am almost certain I would be here every other day, devouring everything on the menu. Service - great! Food - Do they ship back to America? If only... Lamb Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Jalfrezi were delicious. Full of flavor and not overwhelmed by spicyness with the stigma that follows most Indian/Pakistani restaurants. The naan was splendid and don't even get me started on the Garlic Naan!! Not sure if this place is pricey by Lisbon standards, but I thought the value for the amount of food you received was great.
