My friend Mark who I was traveling with over Easter Break to Portugal, made a list of restaurants based on Eater.com's places to eat in Lisbon, and this was nos.38 (actually last ranked place to make it on their list) and we were in the mood for pizza so hopped on a metro near our AirBnB which stopped just a few meters away from the restaurant entrance. Our group of 4 got lucky as it was only a short wait of about 10 minutes for us to get a table without a reservation at 6:30ish. However about 45 mins later, there was a definitive line, which was moving slowly but surely. The restaurant sits family style so we had a table for 8 and next to us initially was a girlfriend bunch which was then replaced by a family group of 4. The restaurant is split between indoor and outdoor seating and since it was a warm, balmy night, we decided to sit outside and were luck to get a table by the river walkway. We got the following menu items: 1. Burrata di Andri as a Starter (€8) - LOVED this once I put some olive oil. Although the plate could have done with more than just those 3 cherry tomatoes 2. Prosciutto & Funghi Pizza as a Main (€11) - we got two of these Pizza's and it was decent. The crust held up well however I personally wanted maybe a medley of mushrooms and a bit more creamy sauce, to tone down the saltiness of the prosciutto. 3. Rustica Pizza as a Main (€12) - the Oregano seasoning on this was too aggressive for me. Otherwise taste was decent, but I'd get Olives put on too, for next time. For desserts we split: 1. Panna Cotta - UTTERLY DELICIOUS! It was perfectly jiggly with an excellent red berry fruit compote. I'd absolutely get this dish again! 2. Tiramisu - Meh. I've had better versions. The cake was a bit too soggy and the alcoholic taste just was weak. For drinks we got 1. Water (€1) 2. Sumo Laranje aka freshly squeezed OJ (€ 2.50) - not massively pulpy but overall god taste 3. Half-liter house wine (€5.50) - pretty decent price and variety. Went well with the pizza Our bill was €60.50 and we'd leftovers too, so 3 pizzas to split between 4 people along with a starter was generous servings, especially price wise it came to around €15 p.p. with drinks and desserts! Great evening out and overall I'd recommend and come back again. Yelp 192/ 2019

Good, reasonably priced Italian food with a large terrace overlooking the river, we enjoyed our meal very much. The dining room was large with seating for 60-70 people (more on the deck) at the long tables and there is a huge glass wall overlooking the river. The main and pizza kitchens are also glass enclosed so you can see your food being prepared if you so wish. The service was impeccable in this casual setting with typical Portuguese family-style long tables. We decided to stay inside as it was just a tad chilly out on the deck. Outside of Italy, it is difficult, if not impossible, to find properly made spaghetti carbonara, but Casanova got it right! We started our meal with the Focaccia (€4), baked pizza dough with olive oil and rosemary, and a liter of both the House Red Wine (€5.50) and House Sparkling Water (€1). I ordered the Carbonara (€9.50), penne in this case instead of spaghetti, coming in a rich, tasty sauce with plenty of bacon and egg yolk. The portion was not huge, but there was plenty to fill me up. My wife got the Pizza Boscaiola (€12), a white pizza with smoked cheese and fresh mushrooms. More crispy than the soft-crusted Neapolitan we are used to, it was the right size and thickness as well as being quite tasty. My wife's only complaint was that she thought there could be both more cheese and mushrooms. We paid €32 for our meal, a relative bargain compared to other European countries with the exception of Italy of course, making this a nice break from the limited menu options at many traditional Portuguese restaurants and a decent TravelValue. Pizza with a nice view. People seemed to just wait outside on the sidewalk until they were given a table.

    Peroni with pizza, of course!

Tip: Located literally across the street from Santa Apolonia train station, so do yourself a favour and GO! I've died and gone to Italy! I've never been to Italy, although this is what I think authentic, thin crust Italian pizza would be like. Restaurant itself is small and from reading the reviews, a line-up is a normal occurrence, so be prepared to wait! Dining room tends to get hot because of the proximity of the pizza oven, so if there's a space, you can choose to dine outside...BUT I cannot vouch for what the service is like out there. Service wasn't the fastest, but it was friendly, especially if you have a smile on your face. :) Pizza was to.die.for. It came out rather quickly and were in the area of 10EU+. You could also have 1/2 pizza dressed with different toppings for 13EU. I technically could've shared, but was hungry and it was so good! I wished I could've eaten here again...until next time, Lisbon.

Best (italian style) pizza in Lisbon, hands down. They don't take reservations so you'll probably wait. But trust me: so worth it.

We had lunch at Pizzeria Casanova and were impressed. It is located near the cruise ship port on the water, which should help you find the location. The pictures of the outdoor seating views are great, however when we ate there, there was a large cruise ship docked which blocked our view of the water. Nonetheless, their pizzas are delicious (thin and tasty) and they have a good wine selection. The service was on the slower size, but the staff were pleasant and helpful.

These two helped save us from hunger... Although I still think that "salami" is a type of sausage!

These guys saved us from wandering around, looking for a beach, and only finding hunger. Turns out they have amazing Italian style pizza! Thin crust.

One of the best meals I've had thus far! I had the Pesto pizza with a beer and was truly able to taste the freshness of the ingredients! The staff were all wonderful and going in the mid-afternoon meant you didn't have to wait long at all! Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a great and generally inexpensive meal! Definitely a great find!

Plus, my 6-year old just got off our tour bus and needed a bathroom break All of our orders came out in good time and our server was very helpful and friendly. We chatted a bit about his family in California. We ordered two steaks with wine reduction sauce. Very good. One steak was over cooked but it was fine. Clams as appetizer was awesome with the house bread. One order of lasagna and I would give it a 8/10 compared to other restaurants at home. One order of pasta carbonara. It was good but not outstanding. One order of spaghetti bolognese. That one was average. We just arrived from Barcelona a few days before Lisbon and we were missing sangria so we ordered one pitcher. It's not as good as the ones in Barcelona but then again this is not Barcelona. For dessert we ordered 3 ice cream and a tiramisu. The ice cream was over-priced at 8 Euro each. Skip dessert and go get some great pastries or gelato outside around the plaza.i

I had the lasagna and it looked fantastic, it didn't taste quite as good. It kind of acidic, slightly but lacked a lot of flavour sadly. I put lots of cheese on it but is only partially fixed it. We also had a salami pizza and spaghetti boulegnese. Both were ok. Spaghetti was tasty but maybe a little fatty tasting and the pizza was thin crust but not crispy or firm at all. Just alright. We also had the fruit crepes for dessert, they were just ok, not worth having. The ones I had at Josephine up town were miles better. These were the doughy kind of texture which I don't like. Sorry it didn't blow me away as I was hoping so. But I also didn't realise it is smack in the middle of the tourist area, we had spent most of our trip uptown near Alfama and it is way more authentic and real... And way cheaper. I think fish was €50 here, and for a tiny fish. If you go uptown you cms get that for €15 max, and way bigger...

Actually, in that same menu, a second thing that also seemed fairly unusual for bars in Lisbon, oddly: a bar that was doing something with ginja other than just serving it neat or in a chocolate shotglass (namely, a ginja spritz, also one of the drinks that's very cheap during happy hour, from 3-7 PM.) Obviously I tried one while I was here, and obviously, it was great. Was especially great for 5.5 euros. Ginja spritzes are bomb. Then I had an 8 euro happy hour "of the day", which that particular day, was a strawberry mojito - not as unique, but also, a great strawberry mojito. Finally, I did try one cocktail off their regular cocktail menu - I'm a huge sucker for Negroni variants, and this was one of the more fun takes I've seen, the Madeironi, of Campari, and both Madeira wine and an agricole rum, also from Madeira. I'd played with sherry at home a few times in Negronis, but hadn't ever tried Madeira - was truly exceptional. They even had the correct large cocktail ice cubes for it. Great service, too (admittedly, it was also basically empty, that presumably being why they had a happy hour, but I've been to empty bars that didn't have as good service, plenty of times.) This is a place I'd definitely come back to if I were back in Lisbon, both to try a couple more of their more locally-focused menu cocktails, and to drink several super-cheap spritzes. And probably try the pizza, too.)
