Calabria (hot salami) pizza
Tamara T.

After trying quite a bit of delicious Portuguese cuisine, I was ready for some good ol' pizza and Finestra didn't disappoint. Just a short walk from our hotel, this ultra modern pizzaria offered pastas, pizzas, and calzones. Like many Portuguese restaurants they will bring you a couvert, a nice starter that is not complimentary. It will be listed on the menu so you can check the price before you start noshing. If you dont want it, just let the server know and they'll happily take it away. We ordered a pizza, calzone, and salad. Each were delicious. They also offered prosecco by the liter, and you could also get prosecco with a fruit puree blended in. Our server was very helpful and friendly. I'd offer 5 stars but they permittdd smoking inside the restaurant which effected the quality of our experience.

They seated me early Ave then announced the kitchen won't open until 7. Having said that, they were very nice and accommodating. They have English menus and English speaking servers. I ordered the berry sangria (rec'd by server), bruschetta, and the saltimbocca with a salad. The food was good to get good - not quite grate. Bruschetta, for instance, the bruschetta hardly had basil and was not seasoned, but the olive oil and tomatoes were lovely. The pork in saltimbocca was a little dry but the sauce was velvety and delicious. I ended with coffee and creme caramel for dessert. The coffee was amazing, which seems to be SOP in Portugal. The caramel (aka flan) was ok and likely not made in house. I saw they have the pasta made in the cheese wheel, but my experiences with that have been underwhelming - it's more show than quality. If that's your jam, may be worth a try. The pizza looked really good. The place itself is cute, tucked into a mall. The tablecloths were a little worn. The staff was attentive and kind. Overall, a pretty good choice.

Also had several slices of a Hawaiian pizza with ham, mozzarella and pineapple. Washed it down with their white wine sangria. So good.

We ordered a basket of bread and an olive plate as well. The bread and olives was less than 2 euros and delicious. They bring olive oil etc to the table with the bread. Plus, my 6-year old just got off our tour bus and needed a bathroom break All of our orders came out in good time and our server was very helpful and friendly. We chatted a bit about his family in California. We ordered two steaks with wine reduction sauce. Very good. One steak was over cooked but it was fine. Clams as appetizer was awesome with the house bread. One order of lasagna and I would give it a 8/10 compared to other restaurants at home. One order of pasta carbonara. It was good but not outstanding. One order of spaghetti bolognese. That one was average. We just arrived from Barcelona a few days before Lisbon and we were missing sangria so we ordered one pitcher. It's not as good as the ones in Barcelona but then again this is not Barcelona. For dessert we ordered 3 ice cream and a tiramisu. The ice cream was over-priced at 8 Euro each. Skip dessert and go get some great pastries or gelato outside around the plaza.i

I absolutely love this place!…read more We were walking around, actually looking for a different place when locals recommended this place to us. It doesn't look special from the outside but it's super small and cozy inside. There's an 'outdoor' part with three tables in something like a winter garden and there are about 10 tables inside. The ambiance is great and it's easy I get in touch with your neighbors ( only if you want to of course). The staff is super friendly and they even have menus in all different languages. We ordered the shrimp tagliatelle and it was amazing! For an appetizer we tried Portuguese cheese and bread, also really good. But my absolute favorite and the reason we had to come back is the mousse au chocolate! Unfortunately I couldn't take a picture before I started to eat but I promise is delicious!!! Started with the recommended fish soup, which was definitely very tasty; then I got a nicely grilled bream, and my wife the lamb which was really tender. my daughter got the chicken. As dessert try the chocolate mouse. Besides the great and fresh food, the waiter (probably owner) was really friendly and assertive. we would definitely come back again!
