This is a very simple local sandwich place. I only briefly stopped by on my way to my Airbnb but I had seen people lined up a few days ago. Wow. Their simple pork sandwich is made with tender juicy pork chunks on soft yummy bread rolls that pair perfectly with the meat. It is uncomplicated and pure flavor and quality. The people who work here are very friendly particularly if you are not a local and don't speak the language. They really give you the sense that they care about their food and sincerely want you to enjoy and feel good. Well. They deliver. The atmosphere is casual, warm and inviting. You feel like a local foodie. My only suggestion is that they install a larger window so you can see even more of the large pot of pork being slow cooked. Completely drool worthy. They also serve beer and wine but I was still working so did not partake.

Stopped here on a food tour and got to try a traditional, Portuguese Bifana! These sandwiches are so simple but hit the spot, the true star of the show is the bread (it's SO good!). Be sure to add mustard and piri piri if you try

Food: Delicious! Good amount of meat in Bifana. Flavor was juicy and delicious! Add mustard and chili oil and it elevated it to another level of deliciousness. The fries were crispy and perfect. Everything served fresh and hot. Service: Super attentive and friendly. Ambiance was good, we sat outside not much of a view just a regular street with cars passing by. Inside was nice just preferred being outside. Highly recommend.

Best bifanas, friendliest staff, family run. Go for it! Soup is great too. 25cL beer and Vinho Verde are a treat.

Quick,Fast, Friendly and so reasonable. Recommend by a local and definitely not touristy. Filled with University students we knew we had hit something good. We had the traditional Bifana and the Bifana with cheese. At 7pm at night , the bread was so fresh and the marinated pork delicious. They have red and white sangria on tap along with beer and soda. Plenty of seating inside.

I enjoyed the must try pork sandwich in Lisboa, Portugal at Solar da Madalena. The service was professional and efficient. The ambiance was at a standard noise level. I had a positive experience and I would recommend this place.

Excellent place to stop by for a quick bite! There are tables and chairs for you to sit down. Recommend the bifana with chili oil and mustard.

Solar da Madalena was the third stop of our food tour, and we tried the bifanas. The bifanas were amazing, especially with the mustard and chili oil. It reminded me of something my family would make, which made me love it even more.

Popular cafe that had a line on a Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM. This was the better of the 2 bifanas I had. Portuguese roll with slices of marinated pork inside. Quality and filling for €2.50.

What makes it special is watching the pastries being handmade right in front of you, which adds a level of freshness and craftsmanship that you can actually taste. The service was super fast and friendly. The pastel de nata came out perfectly, with that delicate flaky crust and warm custard that just hits differently when you know it was made moments ago. The espresso was equally impressive, rich and smooth, and the two together make for a simple but near perfect combination. If you are in the area, this is an easy and very satisfying stop.

The crust was super flaky and the tart was nice and warm out of the oven, but I didn't like the flavor of the custard. I did forget to add cinnamon to the top, but I don't think it would have helped me personally. The woman who stood next to me at the counter had a nearly orgasmic experience next to me, so it's obvious that my taste buds are apparently off. I loved the patience of the server, who got confused when I told her I wanted to eat in but wanted to take water to go. Note to self...Portuguese folks want to have their "to go" as "takeaway." What I also didn't know was that there was no place to sit!! I scooted down the counter just like all the other folks to watch the bakers prep the next gozillion pastries for the day. That was interesting. Then, I didn't know how to bus my dishes. I just left them on the counter like all the other folks and went away. I wouldn't skip going because of my personal taste buds, though. Enjoy it for yourself and let me know if you have a different opinion than I did!
