We took friends out to Bandelier National Monument and decided to go back through Los Alamos since we were hungry. We ended up at Pyramid Cafe. Their menus is reasonably large and we all pretty quickly found food that piqued our fancy. The service was speedy and our food arrived soon. Unfortunately, the food was "meh". Not bad but also nothing to write home about. My gyro meat was chewy (and I am not sure they gave me the right thing) and our friends' food had a good sauce but overcooked chicken. The flavors were there, but nothing really stood out. We also ordered some baklava to go and was sorely disappointed. It had very little texture and was overpowered by cinnamon. I am not sure what else is around there, but I think I would branch out next time I am in Los Alamos read more

Love me some Greek! And this is REAL Greek food! Sangria to start it, was good but nothing to write home about. Side Greek salad to kick off the meal, mild delicious dressing and a healthy portion of Feta on top. For the main dish I went with the Leg of Lamb combo plate, I'm not sure what was combo about it but I don't really care because it was fantastic! Small slices of lamb served over a bed of perfectly done rice pilaf, grilled onion and fresh parsley mixed in as well. Baklava for desert was also fantastic! Beautifully plated, not too sweet and served with 4 corners of whipped cream so you have the option to use the whipped cream or not. I'm from Detroit which has a Greek village with great Mediterranean/Greek cuisine, so this genre of food is important to me. This place nailed it! I highly recommend this restaurant. Oh yeah, service was great too. read more

Read the updates! The food is OK and priced almost fairly. The service is poor, and you can tell the employees generally hate working there. The pictures provided are misleading, I have never seen table clothes (at all) or dishes like this ... everytime I go, I feel happy if the tables are just wiped off. You order on the way in, and pay on the way out ... in between someone drops it off at your table. I have had better gyro sandwiches elsewhere and the buffet is severely lacking in choice. Update: I think I may have been overly harsh in my original review, or they have improved somewhat - so I have upped them to 3stars. The Gyro is pretty good, but nothing to write home to ma about. The place is cleaner now, and I have now seen table clothes and cloth napkins. Update: This place continues to improve! So often, you see the opposite, dining establishments give up when things are going badly, and then decline steeply. This place keeps on chugging away and working hard to get better and better. Bravo for the indomitable spirit! Also, I would now rate the gyro as "very good" - I have upped the score to 4 stars. read more

The food is good, however the poor and slow service keeps me from giving the place more than three stars. This is a good choice if you have a vegetarian in your group. My favorite dish is the falafel plate. read more

The food is outstanding at the pyramid. Good service, clean and the atmosphere is really nice. read more

Spacious restaurant that was able to accommodate a large group for lunch. There was no wait during lunch either. The service was really friendly and attentive. Ordered the Greek salad with chicken (~$10). The dish is huge and the chicken was very tender. The falafel plate with hummus was also pretty flavorful. I was surprised that there was a good Greek restaurant in Los Alamos. Definitely a good option for food in Los Alamos! read more

The food's good, and expensive. What burns my ace is when I go into the place to pick up my food and they have a tablet to pay on, then they turn it around and ask for a tip! Getting the food is part of the deal. What's the tip for when I go in and get the food? It's like one of the street corner beggars...at the register! read more

Just tasted great. Not a fancy place or location but gets my highest praise. "GREAT GRUB."

The food was super good. I had the souvlaki. Perfect. The atmosphere was second-rate. The service got real bad at the end. They girls working there started snickering and giggling in a way that made me really uncomfortable. This sucks because I probably would eat there every night for the rest of my time in Los Alamos. Instead I am not sure I will go back. read more

I eat lunch here once a month- they are a good veg. option locally, the tunisian platter is interesting, diverse, and delish! Their Pita bread is served warm, nice touch. Their glasses of wine are reasonably priced and on the weekends they have live music. They often seem understaffed but the staff they do have works very hard to get everything done in a timely manner, I have never felt neglected here even though I often dine alone and during busy times. I will be back, again. read more

Came here for lunch during a Weekday. Overall the service is slow, prices are moderate to high for quality, the meat is grounded lamb and beef and leaves a oily residue in your mouth afterwards, but the salads are very good. Orders: 1) Gyro Combo Plate ($12.95): Slices of gyro meat, comes with Greek Salad and rice 2) Souvlaki Plate ($12.95): Kebabs that comes with Greek Salad and rice 3) Appetizer: Baba Ghanouj The meat tastes similar to hotdog meat, in which you can't tell what part of the animal they are using. Their kebabs are basically large chunks of gyro (ground up meat with spices) rather than actual meat chunks. Their rice, grilled vegetables, and salads are very good but unfortunately don't make up for their less appetizing gyros and kebabs. read more

The food was great but the place seemed dirty and in need of a good cleaning. I was in Los Alamos working at the lab for the week. I realize there's limited restaurants but a good cleaning of the floors, tables ans bathroom is needed big time . I was starving for Greek food so I hope thr food was clean..it was very good... read more

Service has improved here greatly over the years; they are one of the few places in town that seems to be able to keep a consistent wait staff. Some patience and/or attention getting is occasionally required during busy times. A word of advice: while you can get a check brought to you, the culture of the place leans toward walking up to the counter to pay. The pita bread is freshly made and addictively delicious. I tend to go cheap and get the Giro salad (a Greek salad with Giro Meat) or the Giro sandwich with a salad instead of their unfortunately wonderful fries. The lamb kiffta burger is great too. I've tried quite a bit of the rest of their menu, and have always been happy with what I get for the price. read more

I commute to Los Alamos and typically go to lunch on Fridays. This is a place I find myself at once or twice a month. I've had everything on their vegetarian menu. I'm giving it 4 stars because it is one of the few places in Los Alamos that I WANT to go to, rather than just select to mix things up. The restaurant is nice, with glass over linens type dining. The waitstaff is sincere and try to keep your drinks filled even with a lunch crowd. You pay at the front or they will take care of your check. I think their Hummus leaves a lot to be desired and they serve their pita bred in very small slices that aren't great for scooping. They aren't super fast, but not the slowest either. Menu Review: falafel plate--I don't like falafel usually but they have a nice mixture of spices and extras on the plate. I recommend this, especially if you DO like falafel. tunisian combo plate- This is pretty good. It's lite with lots of options. mediterranean combo plate - I find this a little lacking. If you just want to eat pita bread as your staple then you'll be satisfied. I hope they add some flafel in the future or something. spanakopita plate - I like this meal the best. The serving of spanikopita is generous and it seems to be a little above the average from Greek places. I'm sure it's not home made, but it's the higher end of restaurant style CISCO offerings. The salad is well proportioned to the meal and I'm always satisfied with this choice. vegetable moussaka This thing comes out STEAMING hot. It's not spicy like some styles. I say go for it at least once. It's my second favorite option. The vegetables are well selected for the dish and "make sense" together. brik a l'oeuf - If you like subtle flavors and potatoes you might love this. It's kind of like eating kicked up mashed potatoes. It's a sort of pie or pastry filled with potatoes and an egg. I'm a little disappointed with the lack of flavors and I've only ordered this once. read more

This was my first time trying this establishment. Lived in Los Alamos for 7 years and worked up here for close to 15 and have never tried it. Go figure. I'm not a fan of lamb so I went with the chicken gyro. The chicken was marinated nicely and was tender. I didn't care for the pita bread as it was a little tuff to chew. And there was some type of dressing that was ok on the gyro. The fries were really good too. I went around lunch time so it was a little busy, but we were seated and waited on quickly for there only being a couple waiters working. The restaurant isn't very large so it is manageable. Never ran out of beverages and was always asked if we needed anything else. The price is average for the Los Alamos area and I wouldn't mind trying it again. And it's right next to the gym so after a workout I can grab a quick bite. read more

Been here many times but this week was probably the worst as far as the food goes. Service was good, better than usual. Our appetizer of hummus and pita bread was tasty. Our orders were delivered shortly after. I had the usual chicken gyro and the chicken was dry and overcooked with no flavor. The french fries which are usually crisp and fresh were also a disappointment. A friend had the same thing and felt exactly the same way. read more

The lamb/vegetable kebobs are sublime. I also love their sandwich filled with roasted vegetables. The greek salad is wonderful. We go there for both lunches and dinners. It is walking distance from our house. It is a terrific place to get a meal "to go" as well. The owners make an effort to use local produce and meats. This is by far my favorite Los Alamos restaurant. We often comment that we couldn't get better food in Santa Fe. We usually see the owner there, a good sign. He is graceful about menu changes (I avoid carbs) and has good suggestions about alternatives. read more

The hummus here is absolutely beyond compare. The pita bread is always so fresh and fluffy. I would recommend trying their hummus with green chile if you are adventurous. Aside from the hummus and pita bread, the chicken salad is great. Pyramid in Los Alamos serves beer on tap and there are a handful of wine options. Service is good in my experience. read more

Visiting from Chicago, I wish our famed Greektown had food as fresh and flavorful as this. A great mix of Greek and North African food - plus fast & friendly service. Los Alamos is lucky to have such a gem! read more

This is the place to get Mediterranean in Los Alamos! The price was just right for the portions, environment was cozy and the service was prompt, staff friendly, clean and to the point. read more

Not promising from the outside. Cool and mellow from the inside. We tried their wines, nice and low key. We tried their lamb leg, was alright. Their kabobs r probably their signature. It's Sunday night and we r camping nearby, so this place gave us all that we wanted. I defZ love the low key ambiance and the adobe. read more

Wonderful, well priced food! Service is a little slow, but the food more than makes up for it. Love the spinach salad!!!!!!

Consistently amazing food. Only critique is that their fries are hit or miss. Could use a better beer selection. We go here almost weekly, everything we order is super good. read more

Pretty much the only place in Los Alamos that actually has good food (unless you count Papa Murphy's). Delicious dolmas, hummus, gyros and baklava. I've always had acceptable service, which is also rare for Los Alamos. Glad it exists because I cringe every time someone wants to go to the bland, slow and overpriced brewpub or Blue Window restaurants nearby. I should add that if you came here in the past and it wasn't very good, try it again. It has improved significantly. read more

Good authentic Greek food. Don't let the less than appealing storefront scare you away. Inside is clean and comfortable. Great service. Welcoming to our two small children. read more

Stopped for lunch the other day while touring the area with an out-of-town visitor. I found the food fairly mediocre and was disappointed since I read other reviews before dining. We started with the appetizer of humus, baba ganouj and tabouleh with pita. The pita was fresh and warm and quite tasty. Tastewise, I couldn't tell the difference between the baba ganouj and the humus and the tabouleh was so salty it was inedible. I followed that with a bowl of chicken lemon soup. I've eaten this dish many times and it as always had either rice or barley in it. This soup had potatoes--lots and lots of potatoes. A few potatoes might have made it an interesting variation--but instead, the potatoes seemed to substitute for the chicken as there were only a few bites of meat in the bowl. Disappointment! read more

One of the best restaurants in Los Alamos. Gyros are great, fresh salads, hummus, shrimp in garlic butter (OMG). Had take out the other night. All dishes arrived safely, they were well packed and it was still warm! Yummy dinner for 3 hungry people for $30.00! read more

We did not find a whole lot of dining options during our visit to Los Alamos (compared to Santa Fe or Taos), but we enjoyed our lunch here just fine. The food and service were good, prices were fair, and the interior was not objectionable. Also, their vegetarian options were decent per the usual Greek/Mediterranian options. read more

The food is standard fare for a mediterranean place, nothing special, but not bad. The service is also ok, not great, not bad. The place is weird though... the decor is straight from the hardware store, you know where most people go for interior decorating supplies... Once I was there when they dropped a napkin when bussing a table. No big deal, was destined for the laundry anyway. But, I watched employees walk past the downed napkin (in full view, middle of the floor, good lighting) about 20 times before someone bent over and picked it up. At least half of them walked by empty-handed and could have picked it up. It could have been a vignette in an indy comedy film for sure. Anyway, don't expect anything amazing, but what you do get will be tasty. I went there with my Lebanese monther-in-law and she wasn't impressed. But I'm not sure any restaurant in New Mexico would make good enough humus or dolmas to impress her. read more

Loved the food. I was surprised at the portion. Much more food than expected. I ate there twice (ordered my food to go) and the service was excellent. I definitely will eat there the next time I visit Los Alamos. read more

The store front isn't promising, but the food here is really good. We had the shwarma and spanikopita, both of which were excellent, and the pita bread is homemade and insanely good, brought straight from the oven to the table. The service is indifferent at best, and that's a big problem. We saw our server three times throughout the meal, even when the restaurant was practically empty, and getting drinks refilled was slow and difficult. read more

Really liked this place! Not much to look at but good food. Lots of vegetarian options and a good mix of Greek, Turkish and northern African dishes. We arrived a bit earlier than this place opened and they graciously opened a little early for us to be seated. A nice touch for out of town guests :) read more

This restaurant has surprisingly good Greek/ Mediterranean food considering it is located in Los Alamos. I ordered a falafel plate for around $10 and my plate was huge- enough for a leftover lunch tomorrow. The service wasn't bad at all. My only gripe is when I went to pay my bill, the attendant asked if I wanted me change. Uhhh, I already tipped you, yes! I want my change!! read more

Pyramid Cafe - Falafel plate - Greek Near Me - Los Alamos, New Mexico

Reasonable prices, typical portions, tastes pretty good.

Good Service, Delicious Food It was a rainy Sunday evening in Los Alamos. Many places were closed on Sunday and the pickings were slim. We found out about Pyramid Café and headed there. It is in a shopping center and a bit tucked away and hard to find without much of a sign. Expectations were somewhat low for this workaday café. But the menu was interesting and it appeared to be a sort of all-Mediterranean fusion. They had Greek soups and Moroccan tagines and everything in between. Everything we had, from the soups to the Turkish coffee was great. The prices were very reasonable and the service was first-rate. Why can't I get comfortable, professional service like that in places where I spend 4 times as much for dinner? read more

Fresh Mediterranean African food...the gyro was juicy and amble portions...French fries fresh cut...Greek salad delicious...several beer and wine selections including local and international selections...quaint hometown feel with many locals...worth the stop! read more

When we are in the mood, this place is great. The cashier dude is very responsive and the food was very good. Especially like the hummus and tabouleh. The last time we called in an order they didn't hear us correctly - when we got there the cashier corrected the mistake and ate the difference (gave us both sides). read more

This is a dreadful cafe. Ambiance is nonexistent. Color scheme is black ,orange, & light blue. Nothing on walls. They keep drapes closed. In the bright light of day it would look even worse.!! The food barely rates a " one star."How this place got 4 stars I do not know. Waitresses poor. They did not ask us why we left all our food. Awful!!! read more

I had the cous cous supreme (lamb), with lamb stew as a starter. The lamb was clearly a good choice for both. Lots of flavor, good (but not great) cuts of meat. We went for dinner, and were in no rush, and the somewhat understaffed service was slow, but it was really more of a European pace to the service. They were attentive, but in no rush. Drinks were refilled before they emptied, but the food came at a relaxed pace. Having had a bunch of similar food in the SF Bay Area (where I live), and in the South of France, along the Mediterranean coast, I have pretty high expectations. Pyramid delivered, especially as I wasn't expecting this authentic of food here on a remote mesa in New Mexico. read more
