I go here about twice a month. Gyro is top notch, as are the extra crispy fries (skip the regular fries, I'd say). Green chile cheeseburger is very good. Greek salad is generously portioned and tasty. I'd say there are better Cuban sandwiches elsewhere. Desserts tend to be fine, but not extraordinary. They cook orders fresh, so plan on ten minutes. There's some indoor seating but most people sit outside with numerous options. Service is polite but not effusive. The place is clean. I find the prices completely reasonable given the quality and quantity of the food. Check the hours because they are only open four days a week. read more

We are gratefully very spoiled right now by the delightful Mediterranean cuisine at Carmelita's. I have many favorites to rave about & recommend. My top favorite offering is the kale salad, featuring kale, mixed greens, roasted red peppers, beets, cranberry raisins, and more, with a lovely dressing. This topped with roast chicken, is one of the better salads I've enjoyed anywhere! I also love their gyros, featuring lamb, or the yummy roast chicken. Grab a few extra napkins for this one. Delish! They make a tuna melt on grilled panini bread, which is a very substantial meal in itself. I have enjoyed the burgers, and the Specials, including green chile potatoes au gratin. They serve up to-go French fries in both regular and crispy. I adore the giant serving of the regular fries. Fun to share. Rebecca the proprietor is masterful at running the small, lovely little restaurant. She's like the conductor of a small orchestra that blends and cooks yummy dishes that satisfy the taste buds, tummy, and soul. They bring a generous spirit to dishing up real and sumptuous cuisine. They bake delicious sweet treats too, from baklava, to iced lemon cake, to brownies! It's food designed, cooked, and served with heart. I feel good about supporting such kind, dear, professional local people! They even have gift cards, which make an awesome surprise for locals! Honestly, throughout these unstable crazy times and circumstances of the 2020's this little take out spot, has been a precious gem. Some of the dishes taste better than a big, fine dining restaurant! Eldorado dining offerings have been insanely unstable this recent 3 + years! Carmelita's is here for the locals, in the outskirts of Santa Fe, and Eldorado. I love that people drive out here from town, for this healthy, yummy, fare! Treat yourself and someone you love soon. You will be grateful. Also the portions are generous, indeed! Some days I've made a whole lunch out of those divine French fries! I've gotta say, I feel dearly mothered by the Spirit of Mediterranean food, Rebecca, and her winning team. Carmelita's makes the best bacon cheeseburger in the area, and I will fight about it. The burger is perfect in every way for me... the bun is strong enough to contain the burger while tasting amazing, the veggies are fresh, and the patty is obviously high quality. Excellent food, except for one thing. I really wish the owners would use environmentally friendly containers like cardboard. All their food is served in clear plastic containers, I did try to request a real plate since I was not getting "takeout" but they do not have any. The food is absolutely wonderful and you should definitely try it, I am leaving this review in hopes it will reach the owner since I don't see any other way to give feedback. I have mentioned it twice to the serving staff, but they don't seem to think it important, and I do not see a suggestion box or anything. read more

My first time in this establishment since it's opened and the gyro was fantastic! Soft pita filled with a mountain of meat with cucumbers lettuce tomatoes onions and a delicious yogurt sauce. Greek Salad Failure, masquerading as a Fiesta. Lots of lettuce, two (count them, two!) green olives (not kalamata), a pinch of feta (like a pinch of salt), one dolma, about 1/4 artichoke heart just plunked in there (would be better sliced into pieces). There were a few slices of very dry meat (shwarma?) and zero toasty pita. read more

There are a lot of good burger places in Santa Fe, but Carmelita's is one of the best! It recently opened in the Agora shopping center in Eldorado, and is a great addition to the growing number of small businesses in the area. The burgers are delicious, made to order and cooked to your liking. They include fresh tomatoes, lettuce, onions, etc., and come with crispy, homemade fries. I've also tried the Greek salad, and it was amazing- big enough for two people to share. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. read more

Food is average at best. Owner is ridiculously rude and told my young child she could not buy food there again, because her burger was charred so badly that we returned it twice out of several tries. Gyro meat was crispy, I thought there were peanuts in it. No, it was the meat! The owner told me this was how it was preferred by her customers. That happened once, and the meat was fine on the other occasions. Blah,,,,yuck! Go to Fina or Harry's for a burger instead!
