We brought an out-of-state couple with us during this visit to the restaurant. We started with the truffle fries and wished we had ordered two portions. They were seasoned perfectly, and crispy. Each of us tried a different entree, lamb, elk, salmon, and sea bass. We were all thrilled with our selections. We chose dining outside, though at 7pm it was still 90 degrees. For our final meal in Santa Fe, we headed to La Casa Sena for its Mediterranean inspired cuisine and craft cocktails served in a beautiful courtyard oasis. Prior to the pandemic, the servers used to sing in the courtyard. That tradition has ended, but they had a jazz quartet playing in their indoor bar that was fun to check out. Our server Maria was awesome and she shared some recommendations. I started with Apricot Pistachio Filo Rolls, served with a peanut-tahini chile sauce. It was incredible. My wife was wowed by the Burrata Salad with watercress, avocado puree and roasted beets. It was the most beautifully plated dish we were served on this trip. And the flavors were amazing. Our guest ordered the Mejillones, which are steamed black mussels, with Spanish chorizo, leeks, carrots and roasted garlic. It was a large serving, with plenty for the table to share. Our guest literally drank the left-over broth. I ordered the Ciervo for my entrée. It's grilled elk tenderloin, served with roasted new potatoes, snap peas and juniper berries. So flavorful and tender. Having never had elk, I'm now a fan! Our guest, who has a large appetite, met the challenge of the Ossobucco. He was all smiles when he finished it. Nestled in the courtyard of an old historic building, lies La Casa Sena. With lush greenery, fresh flowers, ample shade and the sound of sweet music in the air, it's the amenities that lure in a crowd. In exploring downtown Santa Fe, our party of 4 found ourselves starving and after seeing the sweet space, we decided lunch was in order. Here are the takeaways: PRO: The courtyard is literally stunning and feels as though you've been transported to another country - as it's secluded, quaint and picturesque. CON: None really - minus a few bugs. PRO: The birds were chirping, the sun was shining and the weather was perfect so we were excited to snag a spot outside with NO WAIT! CON: Apparently there are only 4 table that allow for diners without a reservation on the patio/courtyard and all 4 tables are in the direct sun, with no umbrellas. -_- PRO: Our server approached us with a smile, was friendly, attentive and put in our orders quickly so our drinks and lunch came lickity split! CON: Despite the pro, our server didn't end up delivering our drinks or meals, and delivered our cocktails and dishes to the wrong guest at the table. Not that big of a deal, but makes for a hassle when having to shift plates and drinks around among our party at such a tiny table. PRO: I opted for a froze' (wine and liquor mixtures, blended up and garnished with a pretty flower), while my husband got his usual and my parents sipped on a variety of gin cocktails, all of which were crisp, cold and delicious! just what we needed in the heat. For lunch, I decided on the Chicken Solvlaki - which was basically a gyro salad with chicken - YUM. Other dishes included the Sena Burger, Monte Cristo and the Beet and Burrata salad. Everything was gorgeous in presentation, was MASSIVE in portion and absolutely delicious! While the beet salad wasn't what we were expecting, it was very good along with my salad which was crisp, fresh and light! CON: Be prepared to shell out a pretty penny because DAMN this place is expensive. Meals range in price from $16-$35 which seems a bit steep to me for lunch and at around $13/cocktail, our bill easily exceeded $150. FOR LUNCH. yikes. While this little slice of paradise was offered a number of positive pro's and was a nice escape from the bustling downtown center, I'm not sure I'd venture back....unless I won the lottery. read more

This restaurant offers seating in a beautiful courtyard hidden from the road. It is located near the Santa Fe Plaza, which is a tourist destination. The service was very attentive and there was no issues with the experience. I ordered a lamb dish, which was very tasty. A very strange pinch point to create at the small bar. The food was solid but nothing too exciting. I had a Cesar Salad for dinner. Great presentation. I loved the anchovies. So we kind of ate here by mistake. We didn't want to wait the 1-1.5 hours for dinner at the Shed. So we thought we'd just pop in to the place next door that we had passed. I guess we should have looked at a menu first. La Casa Sena is pricy. Like super pricy. The most expensive meal on our three week trip by far, and we are not cheap diners. The food was really good. And the courtyard ambiance was enchanting. The service was less than stellar for the level of the fanciness of the restaurant. Our server was super inattentive. Fortunately, the host checked on us a few times and brought us bread (other tables had bread, why didn't we?). The manager came over to warn us it was about to rain. Fortunately we were seated under one of their massive umbrellas. Then on the way out, a young bartender was jokingly offering us a random wine cork as a souvenir while his colleague looked on and laughed. I normally despise fusion concepts, but this place honestly gets it right. The ambiance of the beautiful courtyard sets a great mood. Not a single bad table in the place. Service is good too. The cocktail list is outstanding, and I plan to explore it further next time we visit. But the real star is the food. Small menu, but clearly that allows them to focus on perfecting their offerings. Here is a terrific find, just a couple of blocks from the Plaza in Santa Fe. On Palace street, there is a row of retailers bustling with tourists. But, hidden behind these retails is found a quadrangle of additional retails, boutiques and specialty shops. Within the heart of the quadrangle is an outdoor restaurant/bar within a veritable garden of Eden. We are talking tables with umbrellas, surrounded by and twixt trees, flowering plants and statues. Think sitting midst an arboretum. The scene was serene and frankly just beautiful. We shared their specialty burger with fries: tasty!! Marjan is quite fond of outdoor seating...she loved this place....so we visited again for drinks during our walking sojourns round Santa Fe! She rates it 5 boots! Definitely recommend. read more

I should have known from the start when we walked into a 3/4 empty restaurant at 7:00PM on a Saturday night. So many people working in the empty restaurant must have been 3 staffers to every customer and yet the service was lacking. Simple things like not refilling waters or clearing off unused bread plates and basket. Food was marginal. Felt like my food had been touched by dozens of hands before it was placed in front of me. "If the plate looks good on Instagram, it doesn't have to taste good " Must be the kitchen motto. And after we paid the bill, we lingered for a few minutes and noticed our waiter had put on a sportcoat and gotten the hell out of there . They are great places to eat in Santa Fe. Unfortunately, this is not one of them. And yes, the restroom garbage can was overflowing. read more

Our server was busy when other staff came to the table and could not speak English-- so we had to wait to get a spoon for my soup and a steak knife for my husband's steak. They were out of the filet mignon and the $61 rib eye was good--- but not great. The mixed green salad was excellent as were the onion rings. My tomato consommé did not have any avocado as described on the menu. Flavor was bland, but the huge stack of cut up heirloom tomatoes was very good. For the prices they are charging, they should be able to get better staff. 3.5 stars is all they get. read more

A new friend recommended La Casa Sena. Pretty cool place, the manager stopped by the table as we were settling in and I commented on the size of the lodge pole pine supports and he said we were in the original stable. They bought the place in 1980 and had renovated everything. The ambience was superb, as we had a crackling fire by our table on this very cold winter night. The wine list is most impressive. And a large number of inexpensive wines, plus more that would be for those who are really celebrating or have expense accounts. Food was tasty. 5 stars. The mussels with chorizo and fennel were perfectly cooked and delicious. The elk tenderloin (from Australia of all places) was perfectly cooked, tender, succulent and very flavorful. My wife loved the trout, but mostly the baby collard greens that accompanied her meal. All in all a memorable meal. However, the place is expensive. I don't think you can get out of here without it costing $100 each. Inflation has hit. read more

Our final dinner on a spectacular vacation to Santa Fe. The food was absolutely out of this world. From start to finish all 6 people in our party were incredibly satisfied. The prices are expensive as with any high end cuisine restaurant but given that I had one of the most delicious meals of my life I'd have to say the price is well worth it. Each dish is very well conceived and from the flavor to the plating it is to die for. Pictured is the Elk tenderloin with feta mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts, peppers, and cranberry sauce. To put it simply, this dish was beyond words. Other favorites were the gnocchi and pork ossobuco. Additionally, the muscles and hummus as an appetizer were delicious (which is saying something coming from a Syrian New Englander). La Casa Sena has been around for many years and to this day it is consistant in its service, food and wine selections. I love going in the spring/summer months because the outdoor patio and bar are the perfect place to sit and relax with a glass of wine. We happened to be in Santa Fe for a work event and decided to get dinner. We sat by a window that looked out to the patio so it was pretty close to what we wanted. We ordered the sea bass and the beet salad and just the presentation alone would make your mouth water. Our waitstaff were very attentive and made sure we received great service. As I said the dinner's were amazing and we ended up sharing both. The layers of sea bass and the way it was prepared was simply delicious. The beet salad had a little side of edible dirt... it added a little crunch to the golden beets. I enjoyed a glass of pinot noir and when dinner was done we could not resist dessert! We ordered cappacinos, key lime pie and a chocolate torte. Once again the presentation was like art work. The desserts were a great grand finale! I love Santa Fe and this is by far one of my favorite places to stop in. If you have time this summer, visit their outdoor bar for a beverage and then stop into their wine store for a nice bottle of vino. They have a great Sommelier! read more

Well first I want to say I always have loved this place. But, this was the worst we've had in SF. I got the Wagu burger at 25.00. It came on a stale bun that fell apart. It came dry with nothing on it- no aioli....nothing. The burger was flat and not juicy at all. It's hard to believe it was Wagu. It was supposed to have caramelized onions (not) and with pork belly. It came with underdone piece of bacon. Awful. Worst burger I've had in a long time. My partner got the lamb kababs at 23.00. It came with 3 meatballs on top of french fries. It was supposed to be on a bed of lettuce with a bunch of Greek vegetables ect. Wow is all we can say. read more

The unique thing about this restaurant is that the waiters and waitresses sing Broadway numbers every 5-10 minutes. In between the vocal numbers, the pianist plays classics and jazz standards. The blend of great food and amazing entertainment makes this place one to visit! All of the workers are so welcoming and talented, and the pieces/songs we heard were ones we enjoyed. We ordered a variety of items from the dinner menu: the Sena fashion, NM Beef Tenderlion, Pan Seared Ruby Trout, Louisiana Fried Frog Legs, Wasabi-Seasame Crusted Ahi Tuna, Mixed Green Salad, Soret Trio, and the Lemon-Thyme Mascarpone Mousse. I would definitely recommend the trout, mixed green salad, and sorbet trio. When I asked to split the trout with someone else, they decorated two plates and portioned it exactly in half rather than just giving us an extra plate. The trout was well seasoned and tasted amazing. The mixed green salad is so unique because it had pomegranate seeds, dried cranberries, cinnamon butternut sqush, and an delicious sweet dressing! However, a small part of the beef tenderloin was extremely pink and rare even though it was asked to be cooked medium rare. I would also refrain from ordering the Lemon-Thyme Mascarpone Mousse because it basically tasted like whip cream with just a slight hint of lemon. Well...positive first. I'm SO glad you all have left the Mediterranean menu for closer to what you used to have. I ordered the enchiladas hoping they would be the LCS enchiladas that made you famous but sadly, no. The red chile was good but here are the problems. There was probably 3 Tablespoons of chile on 3 enchiladas. And served with cannelloni beans??? Really? My son had the burger. The taste of the beef was good but it was undercooked and the cheese wasn't melted. Also, it was served with fries from a bag. Again, really? I would hope with a $23 burger you all would make fries from scratch. So I might try it one more time at a dinner service but this meal was just not worth the steep price tag. read more

We had a double birthday dinner for 7. Most of the dishes were tasty but they really missed the boat on the veggie option. It featured eggplant, which we LOVE. .. BUT they didn't properly cook, so it RUINED the dish & may have caused illness. I called & let them know so I hope they've fixed this issue. I do think this is an amazing restaurant &we'll definitely try again &, hopefully, be able to increase the "stars" - for the higher prices, I expect everything to be "spot on" & judge more harshly. read more

I've been living here for almost a year now and this has been the best burger I have ever eaten! Cooked to perfection and amazing flavor. Totally melt in your mouth beef. The tomato slice was pretty thick but had a great taste to it so i wasn't mad. My gf had the lamb tacos and loved them!!! We ordered the phyllo rolls which were excellent. Cocktails are strong and delicious. The entire experience was delightful and satisfying. Spent over $100 and the meal and experience was worth it. I understand that good and adequate staffing is hard to come by these days (although many great restaurants in Santa Fe do still have great, attentive service and are excelling post-COVID), but the inexperienced youngsters here are learning on the job, and have a smug, uncaring, and almost proudly "takin'-my-time" attitude towards diners--locals and tourists alike...And there is no excuse for the literally half-baked menu offerings. Appalling. And at such prices! Please bring back the old classics!...Or rent me a table so I can bring my own and do justice to this gorgeous spot. read more

Came here for my birthday dinner and was not disappointed. We ordered a few small plates with the guidance of our server (who was phenomenal!) Our favorites were the mejillones and the apricot pistachio filo roll. Cocktails were inventive and the staff was really knowledgeable on spirits and pairings. Nice by the glass wine selection, too! The night ended with a gorgeous serving of their brioche bread pudding with caramel sauce and ice cream. I am not a huge dessert person but I would go back just for that.
