I had a date night here on Saturday and it could've been a better experience. I booked a Friday tee time by accident and tried calling to change. On all my attempts to get ahold of someone here, I was always unable to. Then I tried the online route. Again, no response. I was able to talk to the check-in agent who allowed me to use the reservation fee from Friday (you pay up front) to use for Saturday. Some of the staff here were very rude. Overall, the courses suck and the service was pretty horrible. I decided to give it 2 stars as it's a fun date spot. The vast majority of people here were on dates. The customer service by phone, online, and in person is a 1 star for sure. read more

I was there with a friend and it went by pretty fast. When we did the second game, we took our time, take photos, and just enjoy the vibes. I got pizza and it was meh. Came here for free and still felt ripped off. The bar space and ambiance are very cool, and I really enjoyed the decor! However, the mini golf was a slap in the face, even for my low standards of "hip" indoor courses. This is a one dimensional course you can breeze through in 5 minutes, with astronomically boring paths covered up by randomly placed abstract art. For such a cool looking place, so much more could have been done. Don't come for the golf. read more

Now I thought the course was going to be much longer but take note they're very short. At least you don't have to manually track your score or where to go next because of theres an iPad that keeps up with you and your team. One of the fun activities in DC- mini golf! I had a nice time here trying out my golfing skills. Multiple different courses to try out during your timeframe there. Make sure to reserve a timeframe on line beforehand, then you also pay for how ever many rounds you're playing within that time slot. This is a 21+ venue. Bar right when you enter as well as course attendees that can assist you with drink orders while you are on the course. They are very nice and attentive while you're golfing. I've been wanting to come here for awhile, so we stopped by when we had some down time around the holidays. I love this location - I used to frequent it when it was a restaurant - and it's a beautiful, conveniently located space. We didn't have a reservation, but it wasn't super crowded and we were able to get a tee time right away. A lot of people were hanging out in the bar area, so I'd want to try their food next time. All of the staff were nice and helpful, and someone checked us in at the course we selected. Some of the courses weren't open, including the conservatory that I really wanted to try, so we chose the art museum course. It was cute and colorful, and we enjoyed it. The only thing is that it was really short! We were done in about 20 minutes and that was with taking our time. I think for the price, which ended up being a bit over $50 for two people, you should get to try at least two courses. Overall, it was a fun experience though. read more

Have come to puttery twice now and both times had an overall fun but underwhelming experience. I've done both the art museum and illusions course and both are only 9 holes. Both courses I got through in 10-15 minutes. If it's more crowded, maybe 30 minutes tops. On top of that the course are mad easy to the point they're kind of boring. The best part about the course is the tech they've added so an iPad keeps score for you and you don't have to walk around with pen and paper. That's definitely a neat addition that adds to the overall experience. Given the price and shortness of the courses, your ticket should allow two games. That would definitely make it feel like you were getting more of your moneys worth. At one game, its way overpriced. Since the course goes by so fast it's almost not worth getting a drink on the course. You don't get your drink until you're nearly on the last hole and that's only if a server asks when you start. I've never tried the food, the drinks aren't bad but overpriced. While Puttery overall isn't a bad experience they unfortunately have to compete with Swingers which is a much better experience in the challenge and fun of the game and the drinks and food offered. One thing Puttery does offer is really good and kind service in a super central location. It's a great place for a work event/professional event. It's worth checking out but keep your expectations relatively low. read more

We played the art room which was cute but didn't think the holes were particularly creative, each hole was par 2 if thats any indication of how small the courses were. Each mini golf place has a different speciality drink menu, however nobody came by to take our drink orders. They do have a tablet to keep score which was pretty cool. The lounge/bar area is a cool looking spot and has tons of seating. We ordered the Brumble and Dinner at the Louvre drinks which were really tasty! We also ordered the fries to go with it and weren't really impressed, they were not crispy and were pretty mediocre. Fun! This is a surprisingly HUGE place, with three 9-hole mini-golf courses, at least two bars, and at least three (maybe four or five?) dining areas / lounges. The golf courses each have their own vibrant theme, and they are all fun even while being straightforward and simple-ish to play. I felt like the lounges in the front - with plush, comfortable seating - had an old-school casual-elegant vibe to them, while the large dining area and bar midway through The Puttery had more of a warm, coffee-shop vibe. There also seemed to be one or two event or small-group spaces near the front part of The Puttery. Eating-wise, the pizza was very enjoyable, as were the fries, and I would happily order both again. The staff across the board was friendly and attentive. It's a pricy time, but you're in downtown DC at a stylish place so that shouldn't be a surprise. One note: Each of the bars is separate as far as tabs/purchases go, so you'll need to pay at each one before leaving. read more

Pricing, 2/5: Lowkey feel like it's overly priced. You're just paying for the aesthetic. You only play 9 holes inside of the typical 18 holes of mini golf. You pay DC prices, so if you want to just go there for pictures, I guess it's not so bad. Service, 3/5: It was pretty quick to get in, but the only reason why I dropped 2 points is because after we were do, we were trying to get some food, but there was no one there to help to take our order. We waited like 15 mins and just ended up leaving after finishing our game. Aesthetic/Atmosphere, 5/5: Like I said you're paying for the aesthetic. The way they created it is amazing. Had a ton of fun at puttery DC! However, a few things made our experience less than 5 stars. We went to order our first round of drinks and they were all out of everything we tried to order. What bar is out of white claws on a Saturday night?! We tried to order Stella as a second choice and they were all out of that too! So we were down to our third choice and still had to wait a while for drinks! When we walked in they asked about our reservation and acted like we didn't have one for a second until they found it. It was nice they had a coat check I really appreciated that! During our first round of drink orders we tried to do order modelo and the bartender told us they were all out. However, we saw in a cooler at a different bar they had plenty of them, as well as the second bar that was closed when we got there. So rather than running downstairs and grabbing us what we wanted they told us they didn't have any. We then saw groups of patrons drinking it on the course even after they told us they were all out! I loved how they had cup holders on every hole! Every course was fun and the $30 for 90 minutes was a fair price and amount of time - you definitely need the 90 mins to play all three. We had a ton of fun playing mini golf. All of the staff was friendly to us and it's not their fault that the bar wasn't stocked but as customers it was frustrating to not have what we ordered from the menu available. Had they been stocked we'd have ordered more and spent more money! Another thing was that there was a very foul smell in parts of the establishment - could have been a sewage pipe that burst I am not sure- but it was very off putting. Thankfully that was only a part of the place but still not pleasant. Also, one of the bathroom stalls was out of order and did not flush! Overall we had a good time but it would have been even better had they had in stock the drinks they had on the menu! To the credit of the staff they were friendly and apologetic of the inconvenience and the other parties all seemed to be having fun and were kind and respectful. It's definitely a fun concept and would consider coming back with friends! But there's a few issues I believe management needs to fix to get 5/5. read more

So I planned a company outing to putters and I would say 10/10 would recommend. The staff was extremely friendly, the decor of the building is just amazing. And the food was great. For the catering options we had the choice of different boards. So I chose as wing board, burger board, and a veggie board. There was plenty to drink as well. The courses weren't exactly easy either. We had a blast. I don't putt putt often so I did get a few concerns around the price for there to only be nine holes, instead of 20, but they've curated a vibe and experience so I think that's apart of the cost. This was my first time coming to Puttery. It is a great date night spot . All the staff was very inviting and accommodating. The location is absolutely beautiful, wonderful decor. There are three courses you can chose to putt (conservatory, art, or illusion). I chose the Art course since it featured pop art. They had Andy Warhol, Basquiat, etc. We had the option to eat before we played so we chose that and had a few drinks. I got the tequila standoff. It was really tasty. I highly recommend. I paired it with the Spicy Hawaiian Pizza. It was very tasty with the sautéed onions, pineapples and jalapeños. They play really good early 2000s music I must add! They give you a time to start the course when you first come in the establishment . Ours was 9:30pm. There are 9 holes. You can order drinks while you play if you like. I beat my partner. What an interesting concept! Everything about Puttery was great and so fun! I love that there's a 21+ age requirement here. The vibe was really grown and classy. There are so many facets to this place...different rooms and sitting areas. We were able to grab a private room a couple of times throughout our stay. The DJ, cocktails and food were all on point! My cocktail choices were the BBQ on a Saturday Night and the Dinner at the Louvre..both were very interesting and elevated. I had the Sausage & Hot Honey Pizza...it was the most interesting pizza I've ever had and would love to have it again. Others in the group ordered a variety of other food items and everything looked good. Oops, I almost forgot to mention that the mini golf was fun too lol! We have been here with a group of kids ranging from ages 8-12 and had a blast both times! The courses are fun and unique, and with just nine holes each it keeps it moving. The electronic scoring also kept the kids in order which was great. Both times we had Alliyah as our waitress and she was phenomenal. The second time, I had a group of 12 pre-teen boys and she rolled out the red carpet. The event was smooth and everyone had a blast! I am such a fan of Puttery DC! I didn't do a reservation and walked in with a party of 3. We waited about 30 minutes which was great because we were able to grab seats at the bar and try a few of there delicious cocktails! We played the Art Gallery course and for all of my artsy friends, it's truly like walking through a museum! From hints of Andy Warhol to Pollock, amazing! The course was fun but challenging so it definitely makes for a fun evening. You finish your 9 holes and walk into the lounge area which was so stunning! We sat down right by large windows and were immediately greeted by servers. Truly a wonderful time and I can't wait to go back to try the other courses. This review is ONLY based on the golf and drinks. I cannot speak for the food! We did the Illusion and Conservatory. Each course has 9 holes. The Conservatory is just OK. It's mostly fake plants which is a bummer. The Illusion was really cool! We really liked that one. Although it is mini golf, it's definitely not easy! The service was great! The servers are very kind and attentive. As for the drinks, they are good! Each course has a curated menu which is fun. It is mini golf, but they are not mini golf prices so keep that in mind. It was VERY HOT out and we needed to escape the heat so going into Puttery was great for us! The space is pretty huge! My husband and I had a lot of fun just the two of us, but I think it would be great for a group of 5 or 6 too. When we were dating, my wife took me to Puttery's sluightly older competitor, Swingers, on my birthday (our first date was mini golf, so we've kept the theme going!). When we saw that Puttery had opened with a similar indoor mini golf/bar concept, we knew we wanted to give it a try. We were happy with the experience. (A comparison of Puttery and Swingers is at the end of the review). They have three courses. The themes: Art Museum, Conservatory (I.e. nature gardens), and [optical] illusions. Unfortunately, while you can make reservations to play there, you can't reserve the specific course in advance. We were still able to play our first choice, the Art Museum course. It's a 21+ establishment. A friendly security guard was checking everyone's ID at the door. We checked in with another friendly gentleman at their front desk who directed us to our course. You can order drinks on the course, and each course has a couple of course-specific drinks that are only served there. I got the "Jackson Pollack" (cognac, apple brandy, Cointreau, honey, lemon, egg white, and keychains and agnostura bitters). It was very good, and as a nice touch, they did an artistic sprinkle of the bitters onto the egg white foam in a Jackson Pollack-esque pattern. My wife got the "Dinner at the Louvre" (cognac, black peppercorn syrup, lemon, and champagne). She was almost scared out of ordering it because we didn't know what the black peppercorn syrup would do, but it added a great, subtle complexity to the drink. It was a perfectly crafted cocktail: delicious, well balanced. The art museum course is visually appealing. Plenty of places to take good photos, or to sit for a minute and soak in the vibe. They have funny, playful twists on famous works of art hanging on the walls (e.g., a picture that looks like the girl with the pearl earrings, but with a pearl for a head and the girl's face for earrings... the pearl with the girl earrings!). The course has three main rooms: a classical art room, a modern/pop art room (drawing mostly on Jackson Pollack and Andy Warhol, but with a nod to Lichtenstein and a couple others), and an impressionist room mostly playing off Seurat's Sunday at the Park. The holes are a little short, and you finish the course quickly, so I'd make a point not to rush. But, it's a fun time. The courses all end at a bar/restaurant area. The menu isn't super extensive. While there are a range of appetizers and desserts, main courses are limited to salads and pizzas. We shared the burrata and Serrano pizza. It was pretty good. I also got a "BBQ on a Saturday Night" cocktail (bourbon, honey, smoked peach, lemon, and peach and angostura bitters). Another winner: delightfully Smokey and peachy. Throughout our visit, the service was very good, friendly, timely, and professional. But, they also know you're there to have fun and aren't afraid to add a laid back, personal touch that adds something to the experience. Because you add mini golf, food, and drinks, you can run up a pricey tab here if you're not careful. The mini golf is $22/person. The cocktails, which range from as good as you'll get outside a fancy speakeasy to as good as a fancy speakeasy, and are pretty strong/generously sized are about $16 (+/- a buck depending on what you order). Wines are about $12, and beers are $7 for cans/bottles and $8.50 for drafts. The pizzas are $18-$22 with most $20, but they're sized for two adults to split. Comparing it to Swingers: the big difference is that at Swingers you're in a big, open space without walls. At the course on the lower level, the check in area, all the holes, the dining area and the bar area are all open to each other. That makes it feel airy and gives it some buzz, but at Puttery, everything has its own space. Even the courses each span three rooms. That gives Puttery a more intimate feel. Swingers has more food options, but it's kind of food court style. Puttery has more limited food but has table service. The Puttery courses have more fun themes for those who want a whimsical mini golf experience. While the Puttery holes are fun to play for almost everyone, if you're a mini golf nerd who analyzes the layout of the holes and really cares about the gameplay, Swingers has the better designed holes for the putting. The prices are pretty similar. Mini golf at Puttery is $2/person cheaper. We'll be back to Puttery again. read more
