Puttery DC is a fun spot for mini golf, drinks, and a night out with friends! While waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, I sipped on a Strawberry Kiwi Nojito, which was a tad sweeter than I prefer, and shared the Spinach & Artichoke Dip. The dip was pretty heavily seasoned for my liking. I thought the mini golf pricing was pretty affordable: $18 for one course, $21 for two, or $26 for all three. There are three themed courses--Illusions, Conservatory, and Art--and Conservatory was definitely my favorite! Each course also took us longer than the estimated 10-15 minutes, so we felt like we got a good amount of playtime for the price. One thing to keep in mind for larger parties: only four people can play together at a time. Since we had a group of seven, we had to split into two separate groups. Also, if mini golf isn't your specialty, don't stress! After six shots on a hole, you can move on without it hurting your score further. I also came back for the Frankenstein Bar, and they did an amazing job with the decor. It's such a fun, Instagrammable spot, especially for Halloween season. My favorite drink was the Monstrosity, a cinnamon-forward take on an Old Fashioned. Overall, Puttery DC is a fun and reasonably priced activity in Georgetown, especially if you're looking for something more interactive than just dinner and drinks. What drew me in was Great deals on mini golfing and the happy hour specials As a Walk in for the special golf price . It was crowded. It was a 40min wait. With the manager dedicating it to memory and we had to be in the location to keep our place in line. There was no pager system. Just an honor system. Not sure how legit the process was. We came back 40min later and got our golf clubs. HH special is pretty great! BUT a bait and switch! Not very "happy" about that. Happy hour draft beer were NOT on happy hour! The menu was deceiving. It said drafts for $3. I was very excited cause that deal is probably the best in DC. When we got the bill, it was way over what we expected to pay. It turns out the fine print, which was never printed on the menu. Seated the draft beers were limited to three options. Or bartender never mentioned it. I do feel duped on that. Which worries me that the rest of the menu has other bait and switch options. To the mini golf, which is why everyone goes here. The courses were appropriate. Not too many obstacles or anything interactive. At times it got pretty crowded so there's a long wait. After drinking a few full priced beers we ended up having a lot of fun. I'm not sure how I would've felt if I paid full price for the 3 courses. I would recommend this place when it's not super crowded. I do mini golf often but this was my first time at Puttery. It was a great time. Normally, I go to Swingers in Dupont Circle but Puttery was a good change of pace. I really enjoyed them offering unlimited playing time. The service was great as well. We made a reservation but also wanted to dine in for food. The hostess suggested that we eat first and then play since the kitchen was going to close soon. The hostess quickly took us to our seat where we were immediately greeted by our waitress. She was very kind and attentive. She gave some drink and food suggestions as well. For food we ordered 18 wings (buffalo, bourbon, and garlic parm). The wings were delicious. Very flavorful. For drinks I ordered a punch with rum and my friend ordered a blue moon. The ambiance was great. I really enjoyed the different themes of the courses. Also, I like that we did not feel rushed going to each hole. Sometimes if it is crowded or the holes are not spaced out too well it can cause a bottleneck of playing time between groups. At Puttery it seemed like they spaced out the holes appropriately. It was a great experience. It is a great place for a cute date night or just meeting up with friends. I recommend checking them out. We just came here late on a Saturday for drinks and snacks, not to golf. I have never encountered a business less interested in taking my money. The back bar was closed for no apparent reason so we sat in the front. Someone did come and take our order. We got four cocktails (four people) and ordered chips and dip and a trio of hummus. We later flagged someone down and got pretzel sticks - note "flagged someone down" because for the rest of the evening if we wanted anything, including to pay, that is what we did. Multiple times we had to go bug the golf counter lady because the wait staff sure as hell wasn't interested, even though there were like 3 of them at the bar doing absolutely nothing. The chips and dips appeared long before anything else. Including water, which we asked for. Disgusting. The salsa was both really smokey and sugary sweet and my group speculated it had to have been canned. The guacamole was slightly better but it was obvious from the brown color and dull flaor it was probably made in a big batch and fridged much earlier in the day. Gross. The other two food items were decent. The pretzel sticks were particularly good. As for the cocktails? I wouldn't be able to tell you because they never came even though we asked about them repeatedly and were told oh they're coming. We watched multiple people dicking around at the bar for a good half hour while we waited. At one point one of them started sweeping up. We had watched the drinks go into the little ordering machine. We nudged them. Guess they could not be bothered. Eventually we had eaten all three of our heavily staggered food items and still no drinks so we decided to cancel and get drinks elsewhere. We finally flagged a waitress and she literally came up to us and said your drinks never came. No shit. I said we wanted to just cancel them. She literally walked away from our table without saying a word. No let me go tell a manager, let me check on that, nothing. Just walked away silently. Were we being punished? We waited a good ten, maybe fifteen minutes after that? Then a member of our party went up to the golf counter to ask if he could just pay there for our food. Then of course the waitress comes rushing over to have us pay. Guess she wanted that tip. This was insane. This was disorganized, slow, and ultimately not worth it. We attended the Holly Jolly Christmas Bar event at Puttery, and unfortunately, it was a letdown from the very start. The $22 ticket included 90 minutes of access and a "welcome cocktail" from a list of three but one of those, the toasted marshmallow, wasn't even available when we were seated. That was frustrating. We tried the Jolly Pear 75 instead, and it was so bitter and unpleasant neither of us could finish it. Ironically, when we later ordered the toasted marshmallow (which had become available), it was actually very good. Too bad it wasn't an option from the start. The space itself was noisy, with putting players right next to the bar seating, which I hadn't realized ahead of time. Not exactly the holiday vibe we hoped for. Worse yet, our server disappeared for long stretches, and the service was incredibly slow. With a timed 90-minute experience, that really impacted the night & it felt like we spent most of it waiting. Food was a mixed bag. The meatballs were excellent, but the fries just tasted only like oil. 100% not worth it. To top it all off, when the bill came, a 20% gratuity had already been added. I always tip, and usually well, but I don't appreciate being forced into it, especially with lackluster service. Or selecting the gratuity usually reserved for good service. Came to the Puttery for a private event. Right now the place is decorated in holiday decor. We already had bites available in our section not sure if you could order from the kitchen. The food was set up in two different sections. There were chicken sandwiches, rice bowls and chicken wings. There were a few other items that were bought out, but it was not consistent with being refilled. The bar area was super packed of course because there was an open bar. It took a while to even just get a water. I made a rice bowl with cucumbers, edamame, and chicken. The rice was very undercooked. I ended up skipping the rest of the rice bowl and went for the chicken sandwich. One of the chicken sandwiches that I got was filled with sauce, which made the bread soggy. Went here with my sister to visit for the holiday decorations and drinks. First off, parking is quite difficult to find so you'll have to definitely find street parking or an expensive garage. Tickets were 22 dollars and it covers a drink so it's not that bad. Thankfully they do allow a 15 min grace period from your time slot, unfortunately the service was just not that good. The host was not that friendly and the bartenders didn't come off friendly either. There was holiday decorations which was cute but honestly the drinks were pretty expensive from like 19-23 dollars and the portions were not consistent, I saw that they gave two marshmallows to one customer but four to another. It might be better if you come to play put put but even when we got our fries we got no napkins or utensils without asking which I felt was not great. read more

Frankenstein popup bar - everything wrong Attended the Frankenstein popup bar hosted by the pottery this past weekend and the vibes were off. The decor was decent sure but the music? Wrong tone, wrong everything. Why is hip hop playing for a spooky Halloween event? Why rap? Not one song was played in the 1 hour I was there that matched the event. First strike. There were no tables available. Standing or sitting which made eating difficult. Were people attending expected to stand up against the wall while there or what was the plan? I'm thinking the event was oversold and the pottery didn't plan accordingly. Strike 2. Strike 3 was finally getting a table and nobody taking our order. After waiting another 15 minutes I flagged down somebody and asked was she working this section and she said she's the only one working all sections. Ok, placed the order. Waited. Waited some more. Went up to the counter waited behind several people. Had my drink made. Came back. Drank it before my original order came out. Epic fail. 3rd strike. 4th and how did they mess up the drink. The effect was it was supposed to change colors after the juice was added but nothing happened. Wow just wow. Do not attend the Frankenstein popup event here. Stopped in for Happy Hour last week and we were unsure if there was table service since we weren't approached so we ended up at the bar. Our bartender was very friendly and had good suggestions. I went with the pineapple marg while my bf chose the blackberry marg. Both were pretty sweet and okay! They were missing a lime or sweet/sour flavor. Found this place on accident and glad I did! I had time to burn after dropping teens off at a concert and this was a great spot to spend a few hours at. Highlights:: The employees were great! I first encountered bartender Robert at the back bar. He was friendly, made great drinks and provided good food recommendations! Kudos to him! The manager on shift 1 April in the evening was awesome as well and fostered a positive environment for her staff... way to be a leader and not just a manager! They have a few happy hour times so I got to mini golf and enjoy wings/drinks. The courses have seen better days (it felt old and worn out), and all the bars were closed except for the one at the entrance before you get to the courses (the other large bar was closed for a private event, but the small ones near the courses were all closed). We also had issues with families with young kids being jerks on one course (the parents weren't watching their kids who get cutting groups in line for the courses and then taking about 100+ swings on the hole). I've been to another indoor mini golf experience in DC, and that one was definitely better (didn't feel as rundown, had more open bars, and seemed to be adults only - if there were kids, I don't remember them). Came for some team bonding with my coworkers. This place is in the heart of DC close to museums and the capital one arena. We ubered in but I know this area and know this place would be really difficult to park in. I recommend ride share or Metro. The place is adorable. You enter a beautifully themed area with some lounge seating and a bar. We had a reserved area where we had some drinks and apps to share. We did have a tee-time and we were split into groups of 4-5 to play mini golf through some really cute and instagrammable rooms! My favorite was the Warhol themed room. You track your scores on tablets at each station and there's a lot of opportunity for pictures! When you get to the end, there is a display with everyone's scores. Upon exiting, we saw that there was a whole nother huge bar and lounge area in the back. The scoring setting on one course wasn't working, but I did another course and it was functional when I came back. One course needed some repairs, but you could still play. A cabinet door wasn't attached and there was a sign on an oven door with, "Do Not Touch". You had to choose between left-handed and right-handed putters. It was helpful to have both based on the angles you took when playing. All of the courses seemed to have pars of two, which seemed inaccurate. The max score you could enter was six. Drinks We ordered two cocktails at the bar, which was not busy. The drinks were pricey already. The menu listed cocktails as $15 each. Our bill listed them as $16 each. You can't advertise one price and then charge more! Then she tried to say that the $16 price "is probably because of tax." NO. Tax was a separate line item on the receipt. We tried to order fries and were told they were out. Then we tried to order chips and dips and were told they were out - but only after we got our pizza and followed up. The server looked confused when we told her they were out of these items. An employee came through the courses to pick up old drinks which was great - but she reeked of weed so clearly smoking on the job. We loved the 3 different courses and the themes were all beautifully done. There is plenty of space for large parties and this would be great for a big group to come play. A staff member will check you in to each course and then you self guide through it so you can go at your own pace. Can't speak on the food or drink. Very aesthetic inside if you want cute ig pics for your birthday or outing. One star oof because the staff were not super friendly. But I notice this most places in dc (I'm from the south) so it may just be a cultural difference. We had to track people down to check us in at every course. A great time for the family as it was just busy enough to not be crowded and without a wait. I can imagine in the evenings, it could be busy and the wait could a lot longer waiting to putt or play. I'm not sure why the mixed reviews - this place was awesome. Granted, we came on a Friday midday so it wasn't super busy. We walked in, sat down, and we're immediately helped. The front of house server was super quick and efficient. We came in wanting to do the art gallery but everyone suggested the conservatory. It was cool, but after that we did the art gallery and we did like that one better. We walked through illusion and it honestly looked best so we were sad we didn't try that one. All the courses were perfectly set up with some challenge, and the score cards were easy to use. We had so much fun! The bars all over and bar carts were great, we got good service all afternoon. One of my favorite things to do is mini golf. Thankfully Puttery offers time for kids/families to come in during the day. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of Puttery. The price seems high for an all day pass, but it's worth it. Unless your kid sucks at mini golf and wants to throw their club after their third par 6 in a row. The themed courses are really fun and there's plenty of photo ops. Some are more challenging than others. We even had a guy take our picture and gave it to us in a frame (for an added fee). It was after the move to the bar that we felt completely unwelcome. We were accused of bringing counterfeit free drink tickets, limited in what we could order and the bartender even sprayed that back of one of my coworkers with cleaner while closing down the bar. Oh...and it was only 7:45. Started off as a good experience but crashed in the end. Don't go here. read more
