Absolutely the best food! Southern vegetarian food... don't turn your nose up at that. My meat-a-saurous husband got the BBQ, Mac n chez and fries. Tasty and lovely eastern style bbq. Mac n cheese I'll come back and get a side order with corn bread! Nom nom nom. I had the Soul Bowl. Rice, beans avocado corn bread. All really flavorful. Also free tea! This place is amazing! I have been here for lunch twice now and both times the service and food have been absolutely wonderful. The first time I tried the bbq platter with kale Caesar and cheese fries as my sides. The bbq was delicious! The kale Caesar I could literally eat on the daily. The cheese fries were so cozy and decadent that I can't believe they're vegan! The second time I tried the Chicago burger (impossible, I believe) with the same sides as before. The ambience has a relaxed, Caribbean vibe. The restaurant was clean. Also, staff as well as customers were friendly. I am not vegan, but I was excited to try a new plant-based restaurant. I had lunch at this restaurant after my visit at UNC. The young lady at the front counter was very nice and friendly. She made some great recommendations. I had the hot, honey chick'n sandwich with sweet potato fries and a watermelon lemonade. Everything was absolutely delicious, especially the sandwich. Very unique. I haven't had anything quite like it. My friends always tell me they feel bad for me, because I'm vegan, I'm missing out on places like McDonald's or Burger King. I was in town for a short period of time and stumbled upon this place. I seen that they were having live music on Sunday and I just couldn't resist. Seating appears to be limited based on the number of people that come here. There was a line, it didn't move fast at all. I guess the plus side to that is they don't rush you with ordering and will take the time to explain the menu items and clarify any questions you ask. With that said I just ordered a salad. I didn't really feel well but I needed to get out to this spot and listen to live music. The salad was delicious, I didn't finish it all but I did stay for the music. The ambience was just everything. I would definitely come back here if I am ever in the city again. This place is a gem. I've been here several times now and have gotten different things each time and I love the general spices and flavors of this place! This time I got their fish fillet plate which comes with their yellow rice, tartar sauce, coleslaw and I chose their collard greens + Mac n cheese for the sides. Keep in mind that these are ALL vegan! Vegan food may or may not try to mimic the non vegan version and they have their own spin on it. The fish fillet does not have the same consistency but it is very good, the tartar sauce was very convincing. Similarly with the mac n cheese, don't expect actual Mac n cheese but it is delicious! My partner got their hot honey chicken sandwich and he said the chicken is very convincing and the hot honey sauce was very good, though he wishes it was less sweet and more hot! In the past I've tried their bbq plate and shrimp plate. My favorite so far is their bbq plate but I would honestly get any of these again. Their service is always amazing. He even asked if we wanted an iced water for the road despite getting take out, which is truly above and beyond. One day I'll dine outside since it is very quaint and cute. read more

It can't be THAT GOOD, right? Welp, I'm a believer! Oh, I completely understand why everyone said the food was delicious--it actually is nothing short of AMAZING! Trust me on this one; no matter what you order--get the collard greens. Even if you are there to just get dessert--you are going to want to get an order of those collard greens. They are EXPLODING with flavor! Typically, collards are cooked with meat and the vegetable then takes on the flavor of the fatback it was cooked in...but these are vegan (in fact, if you don't know--EVERYTHING is vegan here. Yes, it's all plant based). These were cooked to perfection, seasoned well, and you will break out into a full happy dance with the first bite. We also ordered the SOUL ROLLS. Basically, it's an amalgamation of the best parts of a Sunday dinner twisted up and fried in a roll. There were collard greens in there; Mac and cheese was in there; and some good ole' NC BBQ (yes, the BBQ was plant based) was in there too, and it was fried crunchy--just the way I like it! My only regret was I only ordered one order (and I am eyeballing my husband's soul rolls right now because if he blinks, I am definitely going to grab one)! This will not be my last visit here. tried this place bc of great yelp recos. and this was my first experience with vegan food. outstanding. first they personally greet everyone when they walk in. really starts everything off on a great foot. then there's live music!! i ordered chicken sandwich which was better than chicken! great flavor and everything was thoughtfully arranged with honey and lettuce tomato etc on side so you could customize to your taste. the greens were awesome. and they give free iced tea to first time customer. just for review balance i would say mac and cheese was a weak link. read more

I would honestly give a 9/5. Food is probably one of the best in the area (regardless of vegan or not). Pulled "pork" is super flavourful and the texture tastes like the real thing. Cheesy fries sauce is so creamy and tasty. The konjac "shrimp"'s texture is super close to actual shrimp and very flavourful as well. I also love their yellow rice and mac & cheeze. I was looking forward to trying this spot, I stopped by twice. I wanted to try the rolls but they were not available at the time and I live about 45 mins away so I couldn't wait. I explained this to them and they let me try a few other things. The service was one of the friendliest and informative I've had. The lemonade was VERY good! I am a lemonade lover and it was one of the best! I tried their sweet potato pie, this was not what I am used to maybe bc it is vegan or plant based but my husband found it a clean flavor for his healthier life style. The Mac n cheese was about a 3 out of 5 for me, but again I may not be ready for plant based but it was good to be "healthier version". This spot did seem to be busy so I think that the food is enjoyably good for those who are into vegan and plant based. I wanted to try it bc I do t often. It didn't work out for me but please try it for yourself, this may be my singular lonely opinion and stepping outside of my familiar comfort zone didn't work for me.
