At over 100 degrees outside a spicy paleta hits the spot. This is a cute place, bright, clean and great music. I had the mango paleta with fresh pineapple, chamoy and tajin. It was delicious and refreshing. It came on a cute plate. There's plenty of different flavors of paleta and coffee drinks available. Service was friendly.

I stopped into Pure Love Café thinking it was a completely different coffee shop and ended up really enjoying it. It's the sister business to Pure Love Juice and they recently took over the space in St. Philip's Plaza. The first thing that stood out was the atmosphere. The café is very aesthetically pleasing, clean, and visually interesting without feeling overdone. I ended up taking a lot of photos for social media because there are so many cute little details throughout the space, and the plaza itself has plenty of nice spots nearby for content or casual photos. It also had a calm, quiet vibe while I was there with people working on laptops and hanging out without it feeling crowded or chaotic. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. I had a latte which was really good, smooth and well balanced with no complaints there at all. I also tried the avocado toast and honestly loved it. It was beautifully presented and tasted fresh and flavorful. I added the spinach egg bites for extra protein and those were great too, so they definitely have more of a real food menu than just pastries and coffee. They also offer authentic gelato. Right now the flavors were strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate, but they mentioned they're planning to expand the selection later on. I took some palatas to go, and they packaged everything really well in ice for me for the drive home. The food held up surprisingly well during my 15 minute drive, although I'd still say the gelato and palatas are best enjoyed fresh in the café because the presentation and atmosphere are part of the experience. Parking at St. Philip's Plaza is easy, the space feels polished and intentional, and overall it was a really enjoyable stop. Definitely a nice addition to the area if you're looking for a coffee shop that feels a little more elevated visually while still being comfortable enough to actually spend time in.

A pet friendly patio is at the back. Menus are pretty big with a variety of preconceived dishes although they seem OK with substitutions. My friend tells me they have a turkey sausage option for those who don't eat pork sausage. Our waitress was very friendly, kept our waters filled and checked in on us often. All our food was well prepared and there were plenty of left overs. My mocha cold brew was full of flavor and not too sweet with lots of that coffee flavor shining through. So glad I ordered that with the optional whipped cream on top! Thanks to our friends information we received a military discount on our order. We won't see our friends for a while and we sat at the table talking. After paying our tab the waitress let us know we could stay to visit and offered to refill our waters if wanted. Very sweet. Two gender neutral restroom are down a hallway at the back. Highchairs and booster seats are available. A pet friendly outdoor patio is at the back. It's a very casual place staffed by kind and welcoming students, and the food is genuinely good. The Smoked Salmon Beni stood out in the reviews, and it did not disappoint when I finally got to try it. I'll be attaching a photo, but it tasted every bit as good as it looked. I also noticed the shaved steak sandwich on the menu and in several Yelp photos, so I'll definitely have to come back and try that next. I really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere, friendly service and overall character of the place.

These Pastries Should Probably Be Illegal…read more Prep & Pastry has been serving Tucson since 2014, and after eating here, I completely understand why they've built such a loyal following. This review is only about the pastries because the rest of their menu deserves an entirely separate review. The first thing I noticed was how incredibly light and airy everything was. Every bite felt fresh, fluffy, and perfectly balanced. The frosting wasn't overly sweet, and nothing tasted heavy or overwhelming. As I've gotten older, I've become much more conscious about what I eat. Surprisingly, these pastries never leave me with that "I shouldn't have done that" feeling. They're indulgent without being excessive. Now let's address the real issue... I always buy two. Not because I'm planning ahead. Because I know exactly what's going to happen if I don't. I'll eat one in the parking lot, sit there for a minute pretending I'm satisfied, then make what is almost certainly an illegal U-turn and head back inside for another. At this point, I believe the owners should stand trial in a savory Food Court of Law. Dun... Dun... "In the Criminal Food Justice System, pastry-based crimes are considered especially delicious. In Tucson, the dedicated foodies who investigate these sugary felonies are members of an elite squad known as the Special Pastry Unit. These are their stories." Prep & Pastry is guilty of making "I'll just have one" the biggest lie you'll tell yourself all week. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, brunch, or simply because life is better with a great pastry, this place delivers. WIT Inspection Score: -- Truly Among the Best.

9.5/10 | Absolutely Amazing!…read more Everything about this place was fantastic! I ordered the mole enchiladas, and they were absolutely delicious. The mole tasted exactly how authentic mole should taste, rich and full of flavor. I even mixed my side of rice into the mole because it was THAT good! To drink, I had the Mazapán horchata, and WOW! Coming from El Paso, where there's no shortage of amazing horchata, I can confidently say this was probably the best I've ever had. For dessert, I had the pastel de galleta, and it was easily one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. So simple, yet so incredibly delicious! On top of the amazing food, the hospitality and service were a solid 10/10! The staff made the entire experience even better, and you can tell they genuinely care about their customers. Overall, this place absolutely exceeded my expectations. 9.5/10 experience, 10/10 hospitality, and I will definitely be coming back!

The sauce was a deep red, delightfully spicy and rich. The last time I had the Chilaquiles Divoriciados and that choice was great too. These chilaquiles reminded me of my Mexican Nana's and even my British Mum's, who had been taught by my Nana. I can't wait to go back and try the lunch or dinner menus!

Only open for breakfast, this little coffee shop packs in a lot of charm. I parked in the small lot in front. Ambiance (5/5): Definitely charming. It's a grab-and-go place for some, but for those that stay, there's a decent amount of seating outside. You're surrounded by a nice garden area, so it makes for a nice place to enjoy your beverage or some food. As long as the weather cooperates. Service (5/5): You place your order at the counter and they give you a buzzer. The lady working the counter was super friendly. A bright smile goes a long way. She was lovely. Drinks (5/5): While I'm not a coffee drinker, I'm a big fan of lemonade. They have a berry lemonade that has berries in it (blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries). Good size and it was very refreshing. One of the best lemonades I've had in quite some time. Food (4/5): Barista is known for its breakfast burritos and I love a good breakfast burrito. You'll find your usual ingredients here for the most part e.g. chorizo, egg, potato, bacon, ham, etc. Which I could have easily done. Instead, I decided to roll the dice and get my burrito with macheca. Which is a dried out Sonoran beef jerky of sorts. Heavily spiced. With a bit of a kick. I had never had it, and I must say, I'm not a huge fan. The lady who took my order complicated this gringo on my selection, but too strong of a taste for me. I'm sure I would've enjoyed one of the other proteins more. With that being said, it's a good portion (essentially two burros) and it was grilled nicely. It made for a filling, and satisfying, breakfast on the road.

I wouldn't say that it is top of the line cooking, but it is very delicious and definitely worth a visit this side of town. Parking can be a little challenging, they do share a parking lot with other businesses, but close in, there are not that many spots. Service is always friendly and makes you feel comfortable. Interesting atmosphere with flamingos galore and other things decorating the inside. Gives it somewhat of a party and fun feel. Food comes out in a timely manner even when they are very busy. Prices are reasonable. Give it a try, I think you'll like it. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!
