It's a small cafe with a simple menu that has everything you need on it. Wouldn't have known this place existed if it wasn't for Yelp, since it's behind a great little bookstore. I had a short stay in Bishop. While there, I had an opportunity to try this breakfast spot. I was able to access it through the rear parking lot. It's a cute little cafe and it's connected with a bookstore. My waitress was friendly and had good service. I had the avocado toast with olives, waffle & latte. Excellent choices by the way. Based on Yelp reviews, I was really intrigued and excited about the prospects here. Unfortunately, execution didn't measure up to the possibilities. First, you have to hunt for the cafe, as there are no signs for it. It's located in the back of a bookstore. Trust the address, and then walk through the back of the store. Seating is very limited - 3 stools at the counter and maybe 14 seats at tables, plus a couple of tables outside. You order at the counter (orders are delivered to your table), but it would have been nice to have been greeted upon entry. The small menu has some interesting options for paninis, salads, etc. You have the options of spreads like cilantro caper and roasted red pepper. They name liege waffles as their specialty. I went with the Paleo breakfast - two eggs on mixed greens with cilantro caper spread. You can add ham, turkey, or smoked salmon. It comes with cilantro caper spread, but not nearly enough. Oddly, I wasn't asked how I wanted my eggs. Unfortunately, they came over well, when over medium or over easy would have been much better. Portions are on the small side. Wife and one daughter went with paninis on ciabatta, which were flavorful, but small. My other daughter chose the avocado toast with basil and strawberries. Interesting mix, but WAY too much basil. Did I mention portions are small? Even my kids were still hungry after ordering a meal. We finished with a dessert liege waffle with whipped cream strawberries, and walnuts. The waffle was burned on the bottom and maybe the 1/4 the size of a waffle at a typical breakfast joint. On the whole, better execution of the ideas in place would make this a better experience. Compared to the other options in Bishop, it's probably still a good choice, but simply not amazing. read more

This is not your average breakfast place with eggs and potatoes and pancakes! So if you're looking for that you're not gonna get it here. But I highly recommend this place. The coffee is so good, their Paninis are amazing, and that little waffle thing is to die for! Absolutely the BEST BREAKFAST SANDWICH I've ever had! It was a panini with eggs, cheese, mushrooms, turkey, and red bell pepper spread on amazing ciabbata bread. Truly fantastic coffee too, from Peru, locally roasted. And THE WAFFLES ARE HEAVENLY! As great as they get! It's not you, it's me. I don't listen to NPR. I have neither a "Save Mono Lake" nor "COEXIST" bumper sticker on my vehicle. I am one of those miserable souls that would like some eggs, ham or (gasp) bacon for breakfast. I have never experienced the idea of a salad, even a partial salad, as a breakfast item. If I really stretch my imagination, then tomato ketchup on hash browns might be similar, but only in the same way that a rhinoceros is similar to a gerbil. Just a nice little cafe behind a bookstore with good food and coffee. The acoustics are a little weird inside this space, so don't plan on having a group conversation, but it's a great place to grab coffee at the counter and read their copy of the New Yorker or the New York Times. Great find on the way back to LA from Mammoth. Glad to have come in before they closed at 3PM. My friend and I shared Turkey Provolone and Tuna Melt Paninis which comes with healthy mixed green salad and both were out of the world. What a great find! We were driving through Bishop and needed to stop for lunch and saw that Pupfish had great reviews on Yelp and decided to check it out. It's a little hard to find since it's in the back of the bookstore on Main St. but we'll worth the search. The owner is friendly and very helpful and her creations are just SO CREATIVE. I had the egg & olive salad sandwich with a garden salad (arugula, avacado, walnuts, cranberies, goat cheese, tomatos, and more). I never would have thought to put green olives in egg salad but OH MY GOSH eating plain egg salad will never be the same. My mother had the turkey and provolone paninni with red pepper spread and was pleasantly surprised at how wonderful all of the flavors melded together. The boyfriend also got the turkey provolone paninni but had the cilantro and caper spread which he also enjoyed. Iced coffee was also great. If we ever pass through Bishop again we will definitely be back! read more

OK - Literally the best waffle I've had in my entire life!! Seriously, you have to stop in and try it.
