It's Spartan inside, and it's not as busy as they would like, but upscale and educated palates enjoy the takeout and I loved my sit down feast. Lentil soup, pakoras and Gobi whole wheat bread were marvelous, as was the lamb biryani. The salad was fine but lacked dressing. The service was fine also, and the price fair. We got takeout. A little pricey, but overall good. I got the Lamb Tikka Masala... Closer to Butter Chicken taste, but loved it. The garlic Naan was delicious, cooked perfectly. Ordered a mango lassi, and it was warm by the time we got there... But still tasty. My boyfriend got the Chicken Karahi. It was flavorful, but had way too much ginger and cilantro. I'd stick with traditional Indian dishes and not the Pakastani ones. Only reason for three stars is that their prices could be more reasonable, and my boyfriend's dish. This place in my opinion has the best Indian/Pakistani cuisine out of all the Indian restaurants I have been to in America. The service is bad, in fact there is almost no service :). Find a table for yourself and also feel free to help yourself with water if the owner is too busy. The owner is actually not the most pleasant guy either. The place is clean but not organised very well. In the end the food is going to be worth it, and you might feel you have earned it :). There are certain items that you will only find at this place like the Chicken Haleem. If you order this make sure you ask for lime with it. some of my favorites here are Chicken biryani, Chicken karahi, and Haleem. I generally prefer American or mexican food over indian because all the indian restaurants serve the same food and its not really authentic (Its cooked to serve the general crowds taste). But Punjabi grill has that thing . I certainly recommend this place. P.S: If you order Haleem, get a lime as well. Also remember Patience is the key here read more

I like this place a lot. its quick, its good, and has a decent selection on the lunch buffet. There are other places that have more and are better in the area (ie minerva) but this place is a solid choice, and is a little closer to my work, so it cuts down travel time. read more

Many years ago, we lived close to the Punjabi Grill in Somerville and ate there often. Now we live out in the middle of nowhere, and on a Friday night we found ourselves going past Punjabi Grill in Framingham. I looked up their menu and saw they were affiliated with the one in Somerville. I called to place our order, and excitedly waited he half hour she quoted, then went in to pick it up. After waiting for awhile at the counter, the man who worked there, who hadn't acknowledged me past a hello as I walked in, seemed put out that he had to pause his FaceTime call he was making in the middle of the mostly empty restaurant. He yelled into the kitchen and a woman came out a few minutes later. I waited some more as she took a phone order, then told her I was there to pick up the only to go order they had waiting. She sighed heavily, took my bag of food, which had been sitting right there on the counter behind her, handed it to me, and exasperatedly ran my CC. I grabbed my food and left. This was my big mistake. I didn't double check my food. So I leave. We finally get home almost half an hour later, and I go to put my toddler to bed. Awhile later, I go to grab our food, and sit down to eat some delicious, amazing Indian food. I'm seven month pregnant, and had been salivating over the idea of curry over a bed of fluffy white rice. And samosas, and naan! Washing it down with a mango lassi. But, alas. There was no rice. There was curry. And no rice. Who does that???? Who????? Who doesn't give rice with curry, or at least let people know if it doesn't come with rice, SO THEY HAVE THE OPTION TO ADD RICE??? The food is mediocre but edible, but the fact that I am standing at my stove making rice at 9:30pm is making me ridiculously angry. read more

Visited on 7/24. I would not be able to comment on the food because half of the things were empty on the Buffet and was refused to refill. Party of 8 visited the place for Lunch at 2.15 PM and enquired about the buffet and other options. We were told that the Buffet was open and it was $10.99. Later they refused to refill and when asked why it was informed earlier, the answer was it was close to 3 and they do not refill. FYI - time was only 2.35PM. They never mentioned anything about not refilling in the initial conversation when enquired about if Buffet was open. Only 4 out of 8 of us got a chance to have the full meal, rest did even got a chance to eat any Biriyani or any chicken dish or Pokora. They were not worried about it and still ended up charging for everyone. All that matters for them is money and not the service. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this place if you are looking for any kind of basic service at least. read more

I went their for a Friday Noon Buffet Chicken: Chicken tandoori tasted stale. It could literally smell filthy. I chucked it. Butter chicken was little better in taste however it was too sweet. Bread : Garlic Naan were disaster. They were cold and hard. They ripped my skin off the gums. When I told them about it they gave me "fresh" naan however , they were just "microwaved" ones. Vegetarian Food : ate Choole and they were full of water no taste what so ever. Gulab Jamun : Only good stuff that i ate. I don't wish to give a single star to this but got to do it because it's mandatory. If you are starving , have no money and can afford $8 Buffet do visit this place else pass off ! read more

Had the buffet on a Sunday... At about 1:00pm. Too few varieties for the cost. Service was too poor... Used plates were never cleaned until I left the table. And one worst part is that Water glasses were never refilled. And the food was bad dry and without flavor. There were couple of empty Bowls in the buffet which were never replaced. There are lots of other places around 5miles radius which are way better. Would never step into the restaurant every again in my life. I would give a no star rating if possible... read more

Lots of rave reviews of the biryani and I just don't see/taste it. I ordered mine medium spice and it was just ok. Kind of cheaply made with the use of dark meat that wasn't cleaned well. Spice level was fine for a medium, but the dish its self was nothing to rave about. I also ordered the garlic bread and found it to be very boring. For true authentic Indian and excellent biryani, go to not just snacks in providence. So worth the trip. So delicious. read more

We have ordered a chicken Biryani , the biryani what we got was Chicken tomato curry mixed in Rice .

Not a good place to dine in.. The service is too slow, the server did not even turned for serving water even after seeing the glasses empty. Ordered 2 appetizers, the gap between two appetizers was approximately 20 min. I won't visit this place again for dine in nor would recommend anyone with less patience to come down here. read more

Just tried out their buffet to go. 1st time I've been there it's small and bright, almost like a l sub shop but with a small buffet against a wall. When I went almost all the tables were taken and it looked like most customers were middle eastern. There was a saag dish and a chick pea dish that I've had at Indian restaurants before -both were really good. Then there were three kinds of chicken I think it was Kharheiki (I'm sure I'm butchering the name), chicken tikka masala and chicken tandoori, all really good. I would have liked to see something other than chicken for a meat selection, and they were out of nan at the time. Might have been nice to have a couple more options. Of course they had rice and some fried apps too. I think the first chicken dish I mentioned was the only dish I haven't seen at an Indian restaurant before. I thought $10 was reasonable for what I got, but I'd like to try some more interesting things off the menu. read more

This was our regular spot for Indian food before my husband and I moved out of MA in July. We used to order takeout from here probably 2-4 times a month! I usually got chicken tikka masala or chicken makhni - both are delicious! My husband loves spicy so he went with the chicken jalfrezi. They made it spicy enough for him, which is rare, even for Indian restaurants. Everyone there is friendly and helpful, they get our order right every time, and the food is always fresh and yummy. Pains me to write this, as we have enjoyed this place for a while now. After two similar experiences in a row over the last couple months it is time to tell others. Food is generally good, however the place itself is now looking very run down. The last two times I have been there during the lunch buffet, the dishes were not clean and in addition they appear to have a pest problem. Fruit flies were all over the buffet area, and also one time the warmers were not on at the buffet itself so the food was just lukewarm. For takeout the portions are small, but the food is tasty. Try for yourself, but I think I am just about done with the place now unfortunately as there are not a lot of good choices around. read more

My friend and I ate at Punjabi Grill on Friday night and went again for the lunch buffet today. I'm giving 5 stars for the food, but the service was kind of... cold. The man working in the restaurant didn't smile or welcome any customers, in fact he didn't even look at us, he kind of just pointed to the table. The other night my friend and I ordered vegetable samosas, which came with a really nice red sauce, shrimp korma, and chicken korma biryani and naan. Everything was reallllly delicious! When we went back today for the buffet today and the restaurant was much busier and the food was just as tasty, although not very hot. They refilled all of the buffet stations right after we had gotten ours, I wish we had gotten there five minutes later! There was a really delicious chickpea dish, and we all loved the chicken karahi. However, once again, the server wasn't very friendly. I will DEFINITELY return for the fantastic biryani, but I'll get take-out instead because of the service. read more

Hands down the best biryanis in Boston area!!!! Authentic and customized to your taste buds. Naan's are amazingly fresh and soft. Their Bihari Chicken Kadhai is a dish worth driving to. Over all food quality is good, Better than restaurants in NY/NJ area. Service is prompt and fast as it's never fully crowded. Lots of reviews here that are missing the point. Ordering chickpea dishes at a Pakistani restaurant is like reviewing the Pepsi at a BBQ joint. I tried the Bihari Chicken Kabab, Chicken Pakoras, Beef Nihari and Beef Haleem with peshawari naan and topped it off with Lahori Fish fry. We had the place to ourselves, but with the hot naan and the spicy haleem, all of them hit the spot. My fiance and I got takeout from here tonight and give it just 3 stars. We ordered two of the Chicken tikka masalas and 2 garlic naans. One of the chicken tikka masalas we asked for VERY hot, and it was the equivalent of a medium at any other restaurant. Also, the meat wasn't tender and there was too much cilantro in the dish. I would say that the chicken tikka masala here doesnt taste "restaurant style"- I feel like I could have made it myself at home. The garlic naan was soft and cooked well but didn't have nearly enough garlic or cilantro on it. Overall, I would rather go to Holi in Bedford or Soul of India in Sudbury instead for an authentic Indian meal, but would give it another try if the others werent accessible. read more

The food here is great, the service is similar to local small desi hotel, so dont expect much as far as service goes. The staff is nice and the food taste like authentic pakistani food. Buffet is a great deal there biryani, chapal kababs and chicken karahi is phenomenal. There are only 4 -6 tables inside so there is really no place to sit with a big family. The place is also packed during lunch time so you will see a lot of people from local businesses. read more

Still a fan of the restaurant! We have been there twice in the last week. Tried a variety of dishes over the weekend including vegetables grilled, achari paneer, and chicken kebab kadhai. All 3 were excellent! We liked the chicken kebab kadhai enough to go back again for that dish the other day. Service is a little slow. Love the hours though--open till 10:00 PM Sun-Thurs, and 11:00 PM on Fri and Sat...out in the suburbs--that is great! read more

I've eaten here a few times for lunch. The food is pretty decent for a buffet. However, much to my regret, I decided to return for dinner. The food was okay, but the service was absolutely terrible. It took over half an hour to get our soup (which was delivered to the wrong table to boot). When the entrees were finally served (over 45 minutes after ordering), they did not even come out at the same time (there was a 5 minute gap between the time mine arrived and when my friend's order showed up). And after all that, the naan was cold. I would probably come back for lunch, but I am never coming back here for dinner. read more

Very disappointed! Your food is horrible. Asked for Chicken Biryani n they put steam rice on top of chic curry. Naan was Kachi (raw) uncooked. The only 2,pcs of goat kabab were like rock. It was a rainy Wednesday and the warm spices of the Punjabi Grill fit the mood just perfectly. When growing up in Framingham beyond Italian and Greek, and Chinese there was not much choice of eateries. We were surprised to find such good food in the burbs. We found the service to be relaxing and the owner or manager to be delightful. As to the other comments about the service you have to realize that this is not fast food or an American resturant. This review is strictly for take-out as I have never dined-in here before. I think their Biryani dishes are the best in the NE region. That is our go-to food when we're craving for Chicken or Goat Biryani. We typically also have the Kadai Chicken which is again one of the best I've had. Orders usually take about 25-30 minutes and I've had no issues with timeliness or payment. read more

By far the best Pakistani cuisine in the Boston area. Although they've tried to accommodate their indian patrons by adding a few vegetarian dishes, this place specializes in meaty cuisines from the heartlands of Pakistan. I have tried a number of dishes here but I always go back for the Chicken Karaahi (a traditional Lahore specialty). I would also recommend their Tandoori Roti (another Lahore specialty) over of the regular Naan bread. Chicken Haleem is a close second favorite. Among the desserts, I would highly recommend Firni (rice pudding). read more
