Consistently excellent. One of my favorite spots around the area. Whenever I feel like a great, indulgent meal, I tend to go for Halal Eatz. High-effort, well-executed and conceived takes on middle eastern and American food - lamb over rice, falafel, burgers, hot chicken sandwiches, hummus. Chicken is their strongest suit, in my estimation. They do amazing chicken tenders and chicken wings, paired with a tasty sauce and breaded for a really killer crunch. I love em. Same goes for their chicken burgers, chicken over rice combos, and chicken wraps. Lamb here is great, as is the falafel. I haven't had a bad meal with either. I tried their hummus on a recent trip and thought it was good. Nothing mind-blowing but better than the average. Also want to call out their waffle fries and onion rings, which are perfectly done. I love em to death. Whatever my main is, my side will typically be either the chicken tends or the waffle fries. For the negatives, their non-burger beef offerings suffer from the beef having lots of chewy bits in them. For example, their steak and cheese should be a sure thing, but every bite had a bit chewy bit I had to stop eating to pull out. They also overdo it on the mayo/sauce for that sandwich. So yeah, avoid their steak bomb and steak and cheese. I haven't tried their milkshakes but I am very sure they do a great job. We were craving burgers and found Halal Eatz on Yelp when I was in the Burlington, MA area. I placed an online order for their smash burger, a classic cheeseburger, waffle fries, and a cookies n cream milkshake. The burgers were juicy and cooked perfectly and weren't overly salty either. There was a nice amount of grilled onions in my smash burger too. I love waffle fries and couldn't resist when I saw them on their menu. I was greeted with a warm welcome walking in and the cashier seemed genuinely appreciative of my business. Went back a second time a few days later for a double classic cheeseburger and another cookies n cream milkshake. The restaurant is small but has a few dining tables and clean. 1/5 A few days ago, my husband and I ordered two chicken sandwiches and peri-peri chicken over rice for pickup. When I placed the order over the phone, I specifically asked for no salad in the chicken over rice and for the sauces to be on the side. When we arrived, I realized I had forgotten to ask if I could have a little salad on the side, so while we were paying, I politely asked the girl at the counter. My husband also asked for an extra white sauce. She responded rather rudely that they charge extra for sauces but would "just give it" to him. He told her that was completely fine and that she could charge us, which she did. When she went to the back to get the salad, the owner asked what she was doing. After she explained, he looked directly at me and said he had thrown all the salad away. At that point, it wasn't even about the salad--it was the attitude and complete lack of customer service. We were paying full price for the meal and were more than willing to pay for any extras. What made the experience even worse was when we got home and opened the bag. The only sauces included were the extra sauces we had PAID for. They didn't even give us the sauces that were originally supposed to come with the chicken over rice. Overall, the entire interaction left a very bad impression. The customer service was unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming, and the chicken sandwiches themselves were very basic and nothing special. I've wanted to try this place for so long! I'm so glad I did! It's not far from the burlington mall and totally worth the trip. It's a small place but the variety of their menu is good. The food tastes great...as good as seen on social media when this place was new. Hot honey chicken over waffle fries - this is soooo spicy, and the lady at the front does warn you first. It's so good though. The fries are so crispy as well, the pickles were the perfect finishing touch. Must try! The chicken fingers don't look like much, but they were very satisfying. My kid and I enjoyed it much. The chicken and lamb over rice is decent, as was the crispy chicken wrap. Plenty of free parking up front. Friendly staff. Extremely disappointing experience. I placed an order expecting it to go to one location, but it was processed for a different location. I realized the mistake immediately and called the restaurant right away--literally within moments of placing the order--to request a cancellation or correction. Despite contacting them so quickly, they refused to cancel the order or help resolve the issue. The lack of customer support and flexibility was very frustrating. A simple cancellation or location change could have easily prevented this situation. Overall, a very poor ordering experience, and I would hesitate to order from them again. read more

One of my new favorite places!! All the food tastes so fresh and big portions! Extra meat is only $4 and they give you a ton. Prices are not bad either! A loaded plate with rice, veggies, extra chicken, a milkshake and fries came to $25. Fries were seasoned, and surprisingly above average when it comes to fast casual. REALLY good. I stopped in for a quick bite and the chicken gyro wrap was up in less than 10 minutes. A regular stream of food delivery orders was coming in at a Saturday lunchtime too. The marinated light and dark meat chicken is well colored and flavorful, and the house made hot sauce was spicy, not just hot. The onions and lettuce added texture and the pita was gluten-y and hot. This is a zero-star review. Absolutely horrible!!!! This is not Halal (Middle Eastern "clean") or Kosher food! This is very cheap quality produce and ingredients! The menu/marketing is deceptive. The food tastes GROSS. It tastes fake. Either the meat is really the poorest quality available to qualify as meat, or it is a meat-substitute. These terrible ingredients are then flavored with weak Indian spices! If you want Indian fold, go to an Indian spot. Downtown Waltham has a fantastic place. If you want Halal, go somewhere else. (I got the beef & lamb over rice platter) The platter was over priced, small portion and they use the döner kebab style meat, which is a lower quality than the actual chunks of lamb and chicken they use at The Halal Guys in Boston or Cambridge. The platter was a little smaller than I'd expect and on top of that they have a portion of the platter dedicated to "salad" which is just crappy lettuce with no dressing. I bet they do this just to save money and reduce the space on the platter where they put the meat and rice. Overall everything tasted good but the döner style meat had a mushy tofu texture which I wasn't expecting and wasn't a fan of. It was over priced for the quality of meat and size of the platter. If you want a Halal eats style food, I highly recommend The Halal Guys in Boston or Cambridge over Halal Eatz. It's cheaper, better quality meat and you get more food. read more

Wow. I did not expect the food to be this good. I wasn't very hungry but knew I needed to get something because the rest of my night was going to be pretty busy. I figured I would grab something to go and eat it when I had time. I found Halal Eatz on Yelp, and decided to give it a try, and boy boy am I glad that I did. I ordered the Peri Peri chicken over rice. The man at the counter asked if I wanted the sauce and the hot sauce and I of course said yes. I figured I would give it a taste while it was hot and I ended up eating the whole thing. It was spicy, but never too hot, It was a nice burn in my mouth. The chicken was great, the sauces added so much flavor and the rice was cooked perfectly, light and fluffy. I can't wait to come back and try some of the other dishes. The only complaint is that the salad, which is undressed, is in the same container as the rice and chicken. It made it difficult to eat but I understand packaging wise it makes complete sense to do it this way. I went back-and-forth in my head on whether or not to give this place a four or five, and decided on a five based on the fact that I ate the entire dish when all I wanted was two bites. Yup- this place is good. Dont let the cafeteria look deceive you. Get the chicken and rice- yum O - get the falafal- Yum O. I ordered one day at lunch time for takeout. It look a while (Like 20 min) BUT they were making my falafal fresh so I was ok with it. Currently no tables to sit at but I think that will change after Covid. Two gentlemen were sitting in the foyer area the whole time I was there- one older and one younger- I felt like they were hanging out- made me a bit uncomfortable to have them just sitting there on chairs. Loved it! Every bite was so flavorful and the menu has really good options. I ordered the beef and lamb gyro, Nashville hot chicken fries, and Nashville hot chicken burger. The beef and lamb gyro was probably my favorite item ordered. The meat was so plentiful, so tender, so flavorful, and a great texture. I wish there was more salad inside but the wrap was already pretty stuffed so there wasn't much room. The white sauce was amazing and really helped all the flavors come together--it had a similar taste to mayonnaise. The pita bread was soft but I toasted it a bit when I got home. The Nashville hot chicken fries was also good. The waffle fries were like any waffle fries. The chicken was crispy and not dry. They probably had the best Cole slaw I have ever had, so I wish it came with more (though you could purchase a side of it). One thing I will say is that they are not exaggerating by putting hot in the name. It was pretty spicy for me and I usually have a high tolerance for spicy. But I also wouldn't go as far as to say it numbs the other flavors which is good. The Nashville chicken burger was also good. It was very crispy and the chicken patty was thick (right bun to meat ratio). Again, it was spicy but I really liked the toppings it had. I think the cole slaw helped with the heat as it was sweet and gave it more of a crunch. By this I don't mean that some menu items are good, while others aren't. I'm strictly talking about the same dishes lacking consistency from day to day. I've ordered the chicken and rice dish several times and usually the taste ranges from decent to good, though there have been some times where the chicken has been very dry or too salty. I am not really sure whether to recommend them or not because, like I said, most of the time they're food is fine and sometimes is quite tasty. It's the few times when the quality seems to slip through the cracks that can be frustrating and the fact that it never really tastes the same twice. I think three stars is probably an appropriate rating, with the caveat that you might sometimes end up with a stinker of a meal. read more

We have already ordered from Halal Shack twice within the first 10 days of it's opening! Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that this family-run business is extremely lively, welcoming, organized, and clean. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and a combo beef and lamb platter my initial visit. The chicken sandwich was amazing. The sandwich was incredibly crunchy even after 20-30 minutes of me reaching home to eat it. The chipotle aioli sauce really takes this burger up a notch as well. I found that the platter was delicious too, however I found the size of the platter a bit small. The rice is aromatic and the meat is pretty juicy and tastes fresh. The white sauce and hot sauce are both equally delicious. I do love that the hot sauce is not incredibly spicy as the one from Halal Guys is. Our order from our second trip was a combo chicken and lamb platter and a spicy jalapeno cheeseburger. I found the chicken and lamb platter to be delicious. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was in a bigger platter container as compared to my last visit. I do feel that this portion size is more ideal (both are shown in my pictures). The jalapeno cheeseburger tasted good however it was lacking some of the ingredients mentioned in the menu description. There was no beef bacon or jalapeno slices. The burger patty itself tasted a bit over well done and tasted like a homemade burger, but was delicious nevertheless. I appreciate that the business strictly follows Zabiha Halal practices and have Halal certifications available. The staff is kind, very thorough, and ensure accuracy in taking orders. Pricing for the portion of the items seems pretty reasonable. There is currently no public seating in the restaurant but I am not sure if that will change in the future.
