We've seen this place a hundred times when they're closed between 3-5pm. Finally making it in for a visit before 3pm we were warmly welcomed. Clean interior with tables or booth seating. The main dining room is open seating. On the left side is their banquet room for special events and private parties. A nice space to hold an intimate gathering. We dug right into their lunch buffet priced at $16.95. They also have a lunch special for $12.95. Buffet had veggie egg rolls and fritters, fish, tandoori chicken, tikka masala chicken or veggie, lentils, potato, rice, chic pea salad, mustard greens, salad station with lettuce, tomato and red onions, with mint and tamarind sauces, oranges and rice pudding. A nice spread of traditional dishes and sides. Fresh garlic nan was brought out in a basket for the table. Not sure if this is refillable we were too full to ask for another. Flavors were tasty and service was great. Overall a cute little spot among the surrounding shops. Parking is plentiful but area can be a little sketchy.

I went here for the Indian buffet on a weekday after getting excused from Jury Duty. Whew! Pleasantly surprised the moment I walked in the door. This restaurant reminded me of Indian restaurants in the Chunking Mansions of Hong Kong! Why? The aromas, the music, the decor and the small but cozy size. Ended up enjoying the food more than I expected to. Unlike a couple of other Indian buffets I've been to recently, these folks seem to make everything fresh or relatively fresh. The variety of foods is also better than most, and I've been to countless Indian buffets. Looking forward to coming back when that craving hits!

This place is SO GOOD. We tried curry & kebab and biryani heaven before this and this place is far far above that. The food is so fresh and it tastes so much more authentic. Their raita is thick unlike some of the places I've been to before. Same for the mango lassi it tastes soooo fresh and the color proves it.

Plain Partha. Dry and hard not flakey

2nd Indian food spot in Riverside I tried this month, and it also received 2nd place in my heart. Located off University and Chicago it is definitely not in the nicest area of town - I for sure would not be loitering in the area after dark. When my group walked in at lunchtime it was is that had to initiate contact with the workers there instead of being greeted guests. We were told to pick a seat in the main dining room (there appeared to be a secondary one for when they are crowded or have large groups?). They had a lunch buffet set out with two hot food areas and I guess it was assumed we would want that until I asked for a menu. Water was supplied to us promptly thankfully but other than its initial placement we had to keep trying to find someone to give us a refill. The whole time we were there only one other customer came in and it more so seemed that other employees filtered out from the kitchen area to have their lunches. Ultimately my friends picked the buffet selections and seemed okay with the choices - which were more than the 1st Indian food place we checked out - I think Punjab had roughly 10-12 options. I ordered an eggplant dish since I was not hungry enough for a buffet but it was so blended that I could not enjoy the eggplant flavor. Their partha was better than the other place we went too but also fell flat to what I am familiar with. Overall this place was more pricey, less hospitable, and the food was just not the quality we were looking for.

These sprinkles were actually mints like a palate cleanser. Tasted like black licorice!

Spacious and bright LED-lit interior was what struck me right away. My group visited during lunch hour to eat the special for $12.95 (plus tax and tip). We considered the buffet, however the special was plenty! Water is at your table in a carafe. The staff was helpful and ran down what the lunch special included today. They let us know that it does change. It was very large and colorful served on a platter- chicken tikka masala, chicken curry, paneer, rice, and garlic naan. They asked if we needed more naan periodically and refilled our water. Everything was so hot and fresh, and really rich tasting. They were also mindful of our heat tolerance level and sent us plates with mild spice. We opted out of dessert. A pleasant and delicious experience all around!

Food is amazing here! Service is also the best! I used to go to UCR and anytime I wanted Indian food I'd come here. Ambiance is like Indian restaurant, Bollywood music playing and a nice vibe. Their shahi paneer and malai kofta is my go to order. The owner is very sweet and has give us sweets on the house many times. Now that I moved back home from college, I will definitely miss this place!!

Enjoying our lunch.

This is the best Indian food I've ever had. Sooooo tasty and fresh. The service was amazing. Very friendly servers and the owners oversaw everything to make sure we will be happy.

This is top notch. Mind you this is northern Indian and not to be compared with southern I found it since it was close to the military base and I so glad I tried it. To start the home made lentil soup was hearty and lentils had excellent texture so you can tell it fresh and yet it was complimentary. I had the bone in goat briyani which was succulent, huge portions and paired with their Raita it was perfectly balanced . Compared to the classic Hyderabadi style this has less spices and overall ingredients but it's more savory which is common with most northern style Indian food. Just a gem of place

My husband ordered chicken korma to be made which was different from what we are used to...looks like they didn't use yogurt because it didn't taste creamy so that's why we're giving them 4 stars instead of 5 stars. The biryani rice was decent not the greatest but good probably not enough ingredients like nuts and raisins etc. The garlic naan was ok. My husband really likes the samosas and it's like $2 something a piece. People were nice and service was great when we asked for more sauce (tikka masala). Not much of an ambiance.

Everyone was friendly and welcoming, which made the visit more enjoyable. Prices are around $20 per plate, which is reasonable, especially since we ordered a few dishes and shared everything. Service-wise, the wait time was a bit longer than expected. Our food took about 30 minutes to come out, and it felt even longer considering it wasn't a busy weekend. Not a huge issue, but something to keep in mind if you're really hungry. Food was interesting in a good way. The curry dishes have a lighter color and a different flavor compared to typical Indian cuisine. You can tell it's a Pakistani style. I enjoyed trying something different, although I personally still prefer the richer, more familiar Indian flavors. The samosas were very good, and the green sauce, I believe it's called hari, was especially delicious and added a nice kick. The mango lassi drink was a surprise highlight. I'm usually not a big fan of mango lassi, but this one was super delicious. Honestly felt like a hidden gem on the menu. ***One thing to note, check your receipt before paying. They already include an 18% gratuity, and there's still a section to add an additional tip. Overall, the food was delicious, portions were satisfying, and we all left full and happy. Solid 4 stars. I'd come back again, just with a little patience for the wait.

After reading the reviews, I now see that the ownership has changed. Makes sense for the change in atmosphere and quality. The samosas used to be packed with stuffing and flavorful. Now the samosas I got recently are cold and smaller. The crust also seems to be different? It was almost burnt tasting. The icing on the cake (and the reason for my review) is the metal I found in my rice. I thought it was a spice at first but I'm glad I checked it before I ate it. Looks like part of the metal scrubber used to clean dishes. When I called them to let them know, the lady who answered didn't even try to make it right or offer a refund or replacement. She was nice and apologized but my meal was kind of ruined by the piece of metal so it would've been nice to at least gotten the option to replace it. Not sure if I will be coming back. Sad to see the old owners go. The old lady was always so friendly and welcoming.

We found this place online and decided to fuel our bellies here. Upon entering there are seats on both sides of the restaurant with the serving area and cashier in the middle. We decided to dine-in and they helped us with ordering. I ordered the Dinner Special Thali ($15.99) which comes with 2 entrees, daal, rice, naan, mango lassi, samosa or kheer. I was allowed to choose 3 entrees of my choice from the select options they had in their serving area (not from all the entrees they have on their menu). I like options and variety, so from their limited entrees I chose mushroom saag (spinach based), chicken tikka, and their paneer tikka. I'm glad I got to taste different options but I like the chicken the best. I also chose the kheer and got the mango lassi as my drink. My boyfriend ordered the butter chicken ($14.99), basmati rice ($3.99), and the cheese naan which we asked if they can add garlic and they kindly did ($4.99). Everything was delicious and came out in a timely manner. On the tv's they were playing Indian music and their music videos, which were entertaining to watch. ---- Overall: the price point and tasty food are reasons we'd be stopping by if we're ever in the area again or driving back to SD, definitely check this place out if you want some yummy Indian food in Riverside at a reasonable price!

My choices were Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala, and Aloo Gobi. Garlic Naan and a Mango Lassi (up charge). - Samosa Chaat: 2 Samosas cut up and topped with Chana Masala, yogurt, chutneys, raw onions and cilantro. My first time ever trying this and it will definitely not be my last. It was so good! All the savory and sweet flavors combined with the different textures from the soft and crisp samosas to the crunchy raw onions, just wow! They were kind enough to honor my request for extra chutneys on the side, so I added those liberally to each bite and put it on top of a piece of garlic naan. Mind-blown!! Deliciousness Rating: 10/5 - Saag Paneer (part of combo): Probably one of the best Saag I've ever had. Not super blended and mushy like other places. This still had texture and was really flavorful. Wish I had ordered more. Deliciousness Rating: 5/5 - Aloo Gobi (part of combo): This was served in a thin wet sauce and I'm used to the style that is sautéed dry, so this version was not my preference. I also had 1 piece of cauliflower in the entire cup. Probably won't order again. Deliciousness Rating: 3/5 - Chicken Tikka Masala (part of combo): A little too sweet for my preference, but the chicken was moist and the sauce was creamy. Deliciousness Rating: 3/5 - Garlic naan was perfectly cooked. The bread was thick and soft with a hint of garlic. Deliciousness Rating: 4/5 - Mango Lassi: Sadly, I never received. It was not delivered with my order, so I'm unable to review it. One thing I'd like to mention for the owner is that when trying to order food for pickup/delivery, either through the Naan Cafe website or DoorDash/Uber Eats, there are several inconsistencies. Please update so that your pickup and delivery customers have the same options available as the in-person customers do.
