The concept of creating frankies and chicken tikka fries is unique to the IE, so I understand the hype. Also, I love how they're doing business out of their house, gives it a real authentic feel. However, I just don't think the taste meets my expectation as someone who eats Punjabi food often. I just ordered chicken tikka fries this time, and honestly I thought there was too much going on with the green and brown chutney on top of the chicken tikka masala. So....great social media advertising posts led me to drive all the way out near Riverside to try this Indian cuisine - run from a residential address but assured permit status. I downloaded their app which was easy to order from. I set a pick up time after my Mt Rubidoux hike (which I highly recommend) and drove to the address. Someone was outside already handing someone else their order and I gave them my name, and voila, order was in car and ready for somewhere to eat it. I ordered a Butter Chicken Burrito, a Bhatura (fried bread) and a set of 4 samosas. Everything was neatly wrapped and nice and warm. The Samosas were a good size and had two nice accompanying dipping sauces. The Bhatura was a decent fried bread - made better dipped in those sauces I just mentioned. The Butter Chicken Burrito was good in size and taste, yet it didn't taste at all like Butter Chicken that I've had all over the world. Yes, yes... and YES!!! I'm so glad we finally tried Cali Tardka! I had been wanting to check them out ever since seeing them on Instagram sometime last year. If you're searching for flavorful, authentic Punjabi dishes, this is definitely the place to go. We drove from Palm Springs, so it took about an hour to get there with rush hour traffic--but it was absolutely worth it. We ordered 2 Greg Specials, 2 Chana Samosa Plates, and 1 Shahi Paneer Burrito. Everything was made promptly, and we were able to pull up curbside where our order was brought out by Manu with a big smile and great service. Even though we didn't go inside since it was a pickup order, the place had a welcoming vibe. Not wanting to hop right back into traffic, we pulled around the corner to the park and opened up the Chana Samosa and the Burrito... and immediately started texting to order more! They were that delicious. The flavors were incredible and everything tasted fresh and perfectly seasoned. The pricing was also spot on. Con: I was really looking forward to enjoying the Samosa because that is one of the best parts. I tried the paneer tikka and aloo gobi burrito recently. Both super delicious, and as usual, the curry was very generously packed. I did find the burrito fragile (understandable, given that it's wrapped in a piece of naan); I cut it in two, and one half fell apart after I took a bite and put it down. Really happy about this place. I was looking for places to eat in the orangecrest area and this place kept popping up. First of all, they make all their food in their home and all you have to do is to order online, choose pickup time, and then you would pull up curbside. They will bring the food to you. They were prompt and right on time bringing the food to us. The menu was super simple, which I love. This was our first time, so we just went for the gregs special. This was a wonderful plate of tikka masala and butter chicken with a huge portion of rice, garlic naan, and a samosa. This was such a huge portion, you can basically split it to 2 meals. Everything was delicious but I would come here again just for the samosas alone. They were fried to perfection. They do have a permit for their home kitchen, so it is legit. The only tip for those I would say is to make them more crispy to handle the amount of sauce so they don't get soggy quickly, but other than that they're very flavorful with juicy chicken. Once you order, they text you the info to text another number once you're there for pick up (you just wait outside & they'll bring it to you). We got the butter chicken for 2, 2 mango lassi and the tikka burrito. (~$56) Their naan is so rich and fluffy, it's the best naan I've ever had. You can definitely taste it's homemade. Both entrees were top notch. Burrito was huge and wrapped in naan. Their samosas are make with actual dough, not just wrapped in premade phyllo dough and fried. So so SO good. Because we spent over $30, they gave us a free mango lassi. Everything was packaged well and neatly. I wish I lived closer to riverside to have this for lunch more often. Love this place. So rich and creamy and flavorful, and fun being on top of the very delicious fries. This place is legit. Nestled in a neighborhood but if they ever went brick and mortar I'd go. We ordered the aloo gobi for 1, chicken tikka for 2 and got a free mango lassi. The tikka was spicy, samosas has chunks instead of just mush, big pieces of potato and cauliflower that weren't too al dente or mushy and the flavors were bomb. My office did a pick up order and I ordered the Greg Special. The portion size was large, almost too large. It wasn't as flavorful as other places I've been but it was decent. Then the naan was actually my favorite item and then at some point I felt some grab in my mouth. I took the naan piece I was eating out of my mouth to see it was 2 big hairs baked right into the naan. It was baked into it so i knew it didnt just fall on top nor was it my own. I had an appointment in Riverside and thankfully, remembered to place an order before they sold out TWO DAYS before. I ordered the Aloo Gobi, Channa Masala, and Butter Chicken with plenty of samosas, rice and naan for dinner later that evening. HOWEVER, it was lunch time when I picked up and as much as I would have loved to try the Tikka Masala Fries, I knew they'd be soggy by the time I made it home so I opted for the Indian Burrito; chicken tikka masala and rice wrapped in a freshly made garlic naan. The naan was the perfect vessel for the flavorful chicken and rice; not too thick, soft and chewy. We obviously had to reheat all the other food for dinner and it was STILL hands down one of the best Indian meals we've had. I popped the Samosas in the air fryer, naan in the oven wrapped in foil, and microwaved everything else. Aloo Gobi had the perfect amount of heat, veggies were cooked just right. Butter Chicken was a little different than other versions I've had but absolutely delicious. I think they use coconut milk in the curry for this one. If you love chickpeas like we love chickpeas, the Channa Masala is it! The perfect balance of tomato and spices with a hint of sweetness. Samosas are our fave appys so we were looking forward to trying them. The only thing I was missing was a green chutney. They were served with a tamarind chutney that was good, but too sweet for my liking. Service was great - I arrived at my scheduled time and the food came out 2-3 mins after I arrived. Fresh, quality, and simple. They follow the golden rule here and the result is the best Indian food in town. Samosas are handmade, Naan fresh made and fluffy.
