This is a great place to enjoy a night out to celebrate with your loved ones. Our waiter was Oscar. He was the best. Very attentive and knew the menu. The thing about finding places on social Media is it is hit or miss. The post I saw made it look amazing. It is a basic restaurant. It's not a hidden gem. I ordered fish and chips. They were good. Nothing out of the ordinary. I did not order a drink as there was no bartender. It's in not the greatest location either. All around just basic. Ordered online. BIG mistake! Ordered a tomahawk and another steak order with a total of $260 spent. Upon reaching restaurant, staff told me order could not be made since they had no more Tomahawks. I was then asked if i wanted something else. Upon changing my order new total came to $120ish. Upon asking for remainder staff said because it was online that doordash could ONLY correct it. After speaking to doordash, they informed me that they spoke to owner David and walked David through steps to refund. Our mushroom appetizer was served without the garlic bread until 10 minutes after the now cold mushrooms were served. My tri-tip sandwich was completely dry and the garnished were forgotten. Well done, could barely chew it meat when I had ordered med rare, a bun and bacon. I had to ask for some of the spread but by the time it came I had eaten my whole baked potatoes, which "loaded" means a side of sour cream only. Our service took nearly 2 hours for 2 meals and an app. Save yourself the frustration and don't go here! read more

The place felt a bit unkempt. It wasn't dirty but just felt as if there wasn't any love put into the dining areas. The service was good. Our server was attentive and very nice. We had a good time with her. The food was tasty for the most part. It needed a touch of salt and all the flavor was brought out. They had just gotten their liquor license which was a plus. However, they served my margarita with table salt instead of margarita salt, so that was slightly disappointing. The margarita itself was good, though, so that helped. Most of the food is served on wooden cutting boards. A nice niche for them, but they had obviously not had new ones is quite some time. One thing I know about myself is I can't resist trying out new animals prepared in familiar ways. You can see it clearly whenever I see a new type of animal made into hash. Elk, venison, walleye, duck, &c...--just give me all the animals chopped up and placed atop diced or shredded potatoes. And you can also see it when places liked JD's makes cute animals into some kind of steak cut. I love it when we can make stuff into steak--just turn all the cute and convert it into cuts. That lamb t-bone was perfect. It was still juicy, still soft, and still gamey. It hit the spot in a way that a normal steak wouldn't have. It made me wish that lamb was made into t-bones on more menus. I'd seriously order that with great frequency. The garlic mashed potatoes and Chipotle Mac were good sides. They weren't anything special but I found myself still wishing seconds ordering was a thing. And the space was nice too. Sampler platter Food: 10/10 Steaks were cooked to our liking, extremely tasty and well seasoned (no steak sauce needed), cut like butter. Sampler platter was good portion, the wings were the best on the sampler and we could have ordered more crispy wings to go. My mom loved her salmon . And everything was portioned well. ROLLS! Made from scratch in house. Yes appearance can be deceiving when you walk in, but the food is delicious. We have been to many other places with the fancy decor and outrageous plate presentations, but the food is typically ass and prices can be outrageous for the amount and quality. Chef Oscar runs a fine restaurant that suits those who love to take on a perfectly prepared steak with garlic mashed potatoes (ask for extra garlic) and roasted corn. The Spanish Cab has really grown on us to the point where we now are hunting for retail outlets. Sadly, for Chef Oscar, his business is hurting due to limited site access because of railroad construction. You cannot access his business from Van Buren, so don't trust Google directions. Here's an easy travel suggestion: coming from either the East or West, take the 60 freeway and exit at Pedley Rd. This place is nostalgic to me. It used to be Steer n' Stein when I was growing up. I used to go there all the time. After some searching on line I was able to find out that a restaurant was still in that location. Although it's a different restaurant, JD was a great experience. Food and service were great! I had the filet mignon. I highly recommend. Only downfall is it's in an odd location with ongoing construction around it. Although the construction didn't affect the experience. It wasn't too bad, the sides were good but my steak was medium rare when I asked for medium well. The table napkins had an interesting smell like dirty dishwater and they have wood boards instead of plates and after a while the boards start to have a smell and the smells make it hard to enjoy your meal.
