If only this place wasn't so far from me... I came here recently to check out this place seeing that it had a ton of great reviews. I met up with a coworker, and we both got their combo platters. I went with the three item with marbled brisket, cheddar, jalapeño sausage, and baby back ribs for my sides. I got their french fries and coleslaw. Each platter also comes with a slice of cornbread. I'll say that the barbecue here was excellent. brisket was nice and soft and just the right amount of inter-muscular fat in each bite. The sausage was good, but what I was most surprised about was the baby back ribs those ribs were actually really good. I've been to a lot of places where the ribs are a tad bit dry but these ones were nice and soft with a nice smoky flavor it was actually one of the better baby back ribs I've had! Apparently, there are a lot of people who know about this place so if you want to die in here during lunchtime, consider coming a little bit earlier because there's definitely a lunch rush. I came here at 11:30 and it wasn't that four but as soon as noon hit the place was packed! Everyone was really nice. Just 10 minutes later, the line went all the way to the door. Being a messy BBQ eater, I really like the idea that Badlands has a roll of paper towels at each table next to its BBQ sauce tray. I came here after I kept smelling bbq in the parking lot and looked around. This place was bustling inside with tables filled out, they do have outdoor seating. I decided to try the double trouble ($26) to get their brisket and baby back ribs along with sides of jalapeno bacon mac and cheese and a side of loaded mashed potatoes. I got an individual jalapeno cheddar link ($6) to try too. The cheddar link had a good snap and it was juicy, the jalapeno taste was noticeable but not spicy. Finally made it to Badlands BBQ with the hubs and a couple of friends. We arrived in the middle of the lunch rush and the dining room was hoppin'! My friend was on table grabbing patrol while the rest of us placed our orders at the counter. There is plenty of inside seating with a couple of picnic tables set up outside as well. The inside of Badlands has the BBQ joint vibe with a good mix of sturdy, wooden booths with padded benches and free standing tables with metal chairs. Even with the lunch rush, ordering at the counter was a breeze and our food was brought out to our table pretty quickly. I chose the slider trio with one of each meat (pulled pork, pulled chicken, and brisket) with sweet potato fries and an extra side of the chipotle corn in a cup. We also ordered a pound of brisket, the turkey plate, and a brisket salad. Everyone's plates looked great and they all enjoyed their choices. My friend let me try some of her turkey and it was amazing! Very flavorful and juicy and something I'd want to order next time. My sliders were perfect. I enjoyed being able to sample all three meats, my favorite being the pulled chicken. They do come with BBQ sauce, but if you like your sliders extra saucy, there's extra BBQ sauce on the table. The serving of sweet potato fries was very generous and I ended up sharing a lot of it with the hubs. The chipotle corn cup was made up of corn kernels off of the cob mixed with spices and topped with feta. While it was flavorful, I would have preferred it to be a little saucier. We got two plates of the two meat combo platters. One with brisket and pulled pork, the other with baby back ribs and dark meat BBQ chicken. Our sides consisted of fries, garlic mashed potatoes, baked beans, chipotle corn, and the included cornbread. In my order of favorites, the ribs came first as they were awesome! Perfect flavor, came right off the bone, quality choice. The pulled pork was tender and mixed well with their sweet BBQ sauce. Since I was first introduced to this place, I've been coming back here almost on a normal because their meat is just good quality with quick service. Among the different meats they have there, I have not been able to get any of the ones they're always sold out of, but they're briskets pretty solid and by far I love just their chicken. Selection of barbecue sauce is limited but overall great quality meats. Among the sides, the ones I would aim for is the esquite or corn. I think I just found my new favorite BBQ spot! We ordered the jalapeño cheddar hot links as well as the brisket, mac n cheese, potato salad, macaroni salad, mashed potatoes and fries and everything was absolutely delicious. The brisket was tender and juicy while the hot links had just that right amount of kick. Out of all the sides, I'd say the potato salad and mac n cheese were our favorite. This has to be the best barbecue place in the CITY OF NORCO. Many think that it's not in Norco because it's right on the edge it doesn't matter. The number one thing Badlands barbecue has is consistency and great guest service. They are always extremely polite, friendly, and ready to serve. They keep their prices competitive even in this tough economy and market with beef and pork prices going through the roof. The restaurant is separated into two different areas. One is just for quick dining and your takeout orders very inviting and the other side is more like a saloon. They have a number of outstanding beers on tap and you can get great table service. Now onto the food. The barbecue is very good. I usually get the triple threat so I can share some with my wife. My normal take is the brisket, baby back ribs, and the jalapeño cheddar sausage. My sides consist of the apple coleslaw and the brisket baked beans. Everything comes with a side of cornbread. My wife always gets the half barbecue chicken. I love the dark meat. The service was quick and efficient, with our food arriving fresh and hot. We ordered a feast of brisket, ribs, mac and cheese, and cornbread. The meat was absolutely phenomenal. My husband and I visited Badlands around 2:30 pm on a weekend day. The cashier recommended that we try the 3 meat combo and I am so glad we did! The brisket was my favorite - perfectly tender and juicy. I also had the 1/4 chicken quarter which was good - it was not dry at all. Baby back ribs were also delicious. We ordered fried pickles, turkey, brisket, chicken and ribs. For sides we got side salads, corn bread, potato salad, fries and chipotle corn. Nothing disappointed. I'm a big BBQ TURKEY fan and this was delicious, moist, smoky. So good! I loved the brisket, it was a little fatty but I actually don't mind that at all. The ribs were probably our favorite! I don't get to the Norco area very often, but today I was, and took the opportunity to drop into my old favorite, Badlands BBQ. The ribs were delicious as always, as were the apple coleslaw and BBQ beans. I love their habanero sauce, which has a sweet chili flavor, but it's not hot. Sadly, the sliced brisket was mostly just two slabs of fat with less than one-inch-wide strips of edible meat. In the past, I was served full flat-cut pieces of brisket with little fat. They charge extra for brisket on a combo platter, so this time it hardly seemed worth it. Service is aways friendly and the decor is a cute riff on BBQ joints down south. They have a great beer selection. I'll be back because I love the food, but I'll be making a point to ask how fatty the brisket is that day. read more

There are a variety of meats, sides and salads for everyone. My favorites are the chopped or bbq salad with brisket, the loaded baked potato and the Gobbler (hold the bacon). For sides, I love the corn, the fries, onion straws, and the barbecue beans. The service at the counter is excellent; however; if there is a line - it can feel like pressure if you have questions. Tried badlands for the first time after a long day of paintballing. You can smell the bbq from the parking lot. Ordered the triple threat with Baby back ribs, prime brisket, 1/4 dark meat, cornbread, mashed potatoes and potato salad. You know you're at a legit bbq joint when the ribs just slides off the bones.
