Very satisfied with our meal. I had the breakfast and it's was very delicious but I tried a little bit of everyone else's and it was all very tasty. The prices are reasonable but very impressed with my breakfast. The breakfast sausage patties are a must! I like how you can choose your potatoes for all the entrees in musing breakfast. Service was great and the nice to be able watch various sporting activities. If you like horse racing it's an even better place to hang out. My husband and I were in town for a soccer showcase and stopped in here for dinner. We got greeted by the host and sat right away. There are a bunch of tvs all around the place mostly on horse racing but some also had different sports on them. Our server was really nice and she was attentive and greeted us right away. My husband and I both ordered burgers. I had the derby smash burger with waffle fries and he had the Cali burger with steak fries. Both burgers came out cooked perfect. They were fresh and juicy. My smash burger came out different than I was expecting, the patty was thicker than I'm used to for a smash burger but it was still flavorful and delicious. The inside of this place is a bit dark but has a cool vibe and it is also kid friendly. We didn't have any kids with us but there were other families that had young kiddos there. When we are back in town we will definitely stop here again for dinner. read more

My family and I spent the day walking around Lake Perris and decided to stop by The Derby Room afterward. First and foremost, Tabitha was an AMAZING server. Despite being completely overwhelmed and handling more than seven tables on her own -- while also bussing tables -- she still managed to provide excellent service and made sure our food arrived in a timely manner. She truly did the best she could under the circumstances, and it did not go unnoticed. The reason for the 3-star rating is primarily due to the establishment being severely understaffed during our visit. In addition, the overall presentation and cleanliness of the venue appeared neglected, likely from the UFC fight night event held the evening prior. I do want to give credit where it's due though -- Tabitha remained professional, attentive, and hardworking throughout the entire experience. Okay Derby Room! I was very impressed that they allowed me to bring my dogs in here and allowed them inside if I kept them under the table where they were for the duration of my visit here. The food here wasn't bad. Not the best place to get pho but they do give you a very big serving of it. This place is bar food mixed with an American food and an Asian flare which is really weird but hey it works! And I dig it! The service started off good but then it tailored off and you didn't know who was serving you because at one point we just flagged anyone down for another drink. And the servers got super busy so it was a hit of a wait. I would really have like to give them a 4 1/2 star if I could. It's just the service was really good and then boom it changed. We were pleased with the selection of food and large portions. You're spoiled for choice looking at the menu to the point it can get overwhelming. It reminded me a bit of The Cheesecake Factory. There's breakfast, burgers, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, salads, sandwiches, and drinks. Then when the food came to our table, I realized we probably could've ordered one plate and shared it. My sister ordered nachos and was given a whole cookie sheet of them covered in beef, guacamole, and sour cream. I ordered from their Wok section, which included a bowl of egg drop soup and a choice of white or fried rice. Even the take home containers are bigger than normal. The restaurant itself is spacious and clean. We were seated at a booth in what I think is their family section. It's quieter and when we were there, it mainly consisted of women and a dad and his 2 daughters. The middle part of the restaurant has a bar and the area surrounding it is where mostly men were hanging out watching the TVs (I counted around 30 TV screens!) and placing bets. I had no clue what The Derby Room was about until I went to the restroom and saw a couple of men in front of a digital betting kiosk. If not for that, I would've thought it was just any other sports bar since on the TV it seemed like all the sports were on: horse racing, golf, baseball. All and all, whether you're a family and just want to eat (I remember even seeing coloring pages and Crayons at the front desk) or a serious sports better, I think there's a little bit of something for everyone here. read more

We came here on a Wednesday night wanting to try out a new spot for a drink and some food. We were sat right away and Rylee came over and was as sweet as can be. We ordered a beer and a tito's soda, they took a little while. We noticed the bartender chatting with the only 2 people at the bar who I assumed were regulars. Our server ended up pouring our drinks and came by and apologized for the wait stating "I had to tell the bartender to stop talking" We laughed it off together, no big deal. We ordered a sampler and a pizza to share. The sampler was decent, lacked some salt and was lukewarm. We ordered a pizza with extra mushrooms and pepperoni. There wasn't too many mushrooms but we were charged for extra. We bit into the pizza and my partner spit out a hard piece and we found a bone of some sort that had been baked into the cheese/mushrooms. Anyway, paid our tab, tipped, and left. I'm giving 2 stars because the service is great. But it's been a couple of years since I've had a good meal here, and I go at least 6 times a year because my friends like to bet on the horses. The food? The chow mein was watery and tasteless. The fried rice tasted like styrofoam even after I drenched it in soy sauce and sriracha. The poke bowl? $20 for $3 worth of tuna and a bunch of tomato chunks. The poke bowls at Vons, Ralph's, Albertsons and Stater Brothers are 100x better and only $10. My friends love the nachos, but a 5-year old can make nachos and if I'm gonna drop $35 (my friends like to split the bill evenly), I want something that a 5-year old can't make. Came in the 2nd time this week. I'm usually a fan, but things were just off today. I ordered the orange chicken. The chicken was good, but the rice was dry and crunchy. My wife and adult kids had zero problems with their food. Now to my main gripe. I ordered a drink and it was tasty, but not right. The waitress came back and picked up my glass and I indicated I wanted another one. I had dropped a cherry stem from my son's drink in my empty glass along with my stem. I rarely see servers doing their job, they like to just hang out by the bar and chit chat. Women walking around with their buttcheeks hanging out of their shorts as servers and expos. The last time I went nobody was wearing booty shorts- thank God. Multiple servers with the WORST attitude. The young girl who used to be expo who wears makeup and has straight jet black hair is extremely rude and makes unprofessional jokes constantly. And instead of reprimanding her, she is now a server? Not a big fan of any of the bartenders either. Both male bartenders have such a superiority complex and it reflects whenever either one of them talk to you. Overall, this place REEKS of entitlement. And the worst part has to be how the food is at best a 5/10 and the prices are just outrageous. Don't waste your time on this place. They advertise free UFC fights with no cover charge, but fail to disclose they don't honor their menu prices and increase all their prices to offset the fight costs. It felt like a bait-and-switch. I sat at the corner and the sign says wait to be seated but no one approached me or even came to the host stand until some regulars my guess came in. I want to be somewhere that welcomes its city residents. I asked Tina about speaking with the manager or owner. She happily boosted about being Brandon's mom then questioned who I was and why I wanted to speak with him. -_-then repeated she is his mom so. I have no words Honestly having your mom work for you is fine. But if she can literally block customers from informing the manager about about customer experience is unethical and unacceptable. I would like to start by saying- I NEVER WRITE REVIEWS. But I think management needs to see our experience. My family and I used to really enjoy the derby. Unfortunately, it seems since the last time we were here, things have drastically went downhill. Which is not only sad, but very alarming how quickly this place has plummeted. We are a nuclear family of four and decided to come by in the last week of January. My husband and I left frustrated with the service and the attitude of the man at the bar. The last time we were here before this most recent incident was in September. Back in Sept., the food was excellent, and even though our server, (I think her name was Leena or Lina.) was busy, her service remained good. They had finally gotten a new hostess, and she sat us right at one of the front booths with zero flack. Fast forwarding to now... it's quite pitiful how bad your service and overall demeanor now is. Like I stated previously, we are returning customers. But first off, we asked for one of the front booths when it wasn't very busy, and whoever that lady was seating us made an audible groaning noise when we asked for the booth. It was quite obvious she wanted us to see that she didn't like us requesting a specific area. I did not see the younger blonde hostess they used to have... so there was no one else we could even talk to. On top of that, I would see this lady there constantly back when we went almost once a week, and she was never rude to others the way she was towards us. So that was very off-putting and confusing. When she reluctantly gave us a table, she just gave us menus and no silverware. I mean really? Your only job is to sit there until someone walks in and you have to seat people... why are we having to request utensils??? On top of that, our server was not somebody I recognized. I don't recall the name, but she was a shorter brunette. She just seemed very uninformed of the menu and inexperienced, so we cut her some slack and assumed she must be new to serving. I do think we've seen her before, but she's never been our waitress as far as I can remember. Somebody who is still very obviously not fully trained and not the best at serving should be shadowing and not taking tables for herself if she cannot handle it. Then, we ordered drinks for ourselves from the bar, and the bartender quite frankly must have been either having himself a snooze fest- OR all that chatter he's constantly doing with his favorite customers at the bar counter impedes his ability to focus. We didn't get our alcohol for like damn near 20 minutes, and on top of that we had to flag our server down to ASK about the drinks before we got them. It was overall pretty frustrating. The food was fine.. not as good as it used to be. I don't know if they have a new kitchen staff or what. The last thing was the restrooms. I'm not sure whose job it is to clean the bathrooms, but they were TRASHED. I used our home bathroom before arriving the last handful of times because literally any time I ever step foot into the derby room, I fully expect your restrooms will be atrocious. Again, I never write reviews, even when I don't enjoy my experiences at places, because I don't believe one bad experience is worth risking somebody's income. However, it seems that all the employees you have decided THEY now run the restaurant and everything is by THEIR OWN convenience. The clientele here pretty much represent the heart and soul of conservative Norco, aka Horsetown USA, a town where an American flag is proudly attached to most every pickup truck in town. As a long time, devoted customer to Black Horse Tavern, another sports bar in town, it struck me that this place makes Black Horse look subdued. Not that that is bad. It seems Norconians have open hearts to the proverbial, cowboy-themed sport bar ambiance; this is one of (maybe) four, all popular, in town, each with its own "yee hah feel". The difference here is, you can feed your inner gambler if you happen to be a horse racing enthusiast. For what I would consider a very early dinner hour, 5:30 on a Saturday night, The Derby Room was already hopping, loud, boisterous, and busy. This is a surprisingly big venue that includes a large bar and family-friendly dining zone, not to mention a seated gambling arena for live, off track horse racing. It reminds me greatly of a neighborhood bar and grill atmosphere you would find in Las Vegas. Add to the cacophony of animated, well-lubricated adults, the sounds of babies bawling, and at least 25 tvs with an amazing choice of most every sport loved by man and woman, set at a volume intended to completely override any normal conversation, and there you have it. At the time of my writing, they have 7 locations scattered around Southern California. The menu is quite impressive. It features many favorites which made our first time here a real challenge to choose. Pretty darn good food, for what we had: Prime Rib (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays only) comes in 2 sizes, 8 oz and 12 oz. My main complaint, I think Mr. B was shorted on his 12 oz. size; it was sliced glaringly crooked, as thin as my 8 oz size on one side, thick on the other. But it was decent. And when we said medium rare, we got... med rare. The au jus was authentic. The veggies, a combo of broccoli, zucchini, carrots, and yellow squash, were very al dente. The baked potatoes were perfection. Our dinners also came with a choice of soup or salad. When our big bowls of soup arrived, I was already thinking doggie bags. I wondered how I was going to eat all that and my dinner too. It reminded me of my glorious dining experiences of the 1990s. But sadly, the Albondigas soup and egg flower soup were the acchiles heel of this meal. Leaving them uneaten was easy. The egg flower tasted like it was made from a Lipton soup base. The albondigas meatballs were mushy, mostly filler. But I was already getting a clue as to the real food attraction here. Servers were hustling large platters of food and monster sized appetizers to every table. You will not leave hungry; wear your stretchy pants. So, the final test was dessert. Seeing slices of Carrot Cake and a Banana Split on the menu made it hard to choose, so we did what any normal person would do, and ordered one of each. Better than average, not disappointing. Would I return? Sure! They do breakfast and Sunday Brunch too. Expect to carry out a load full of to-go containers and make sure you clear out the refrigerator first. And simply turn off your hearing aids if the noise gets too bad. It's a lively place that will have you leaving with a smile on your face. read more
