If you're hungry for a hearty breakfast, this place will satisfy that craving. I decided to check out this place after having it bookmarked for awhile. Yes, the interior isn't anything fancy. There aren't any comfy booths. It's not a place for ambiance. But it's comfortable enough where you just focus on enjoying the food that's in front of you. After perusing their extensive menu (that looked like a newspaper), I settled on a Denver omelette with fruit instead of hashbrowns and one pancake instead of toast. I immediately knew that the omelette would be good after one look. It was generous in portion, fluffy in texture, and covered with thinly shredded cheese. Cooked to perfection. The pancake was a curveball. I didn't expect the cinnamon taste. It looked thick and fluffy as well. The outside was slightly crispy but the inside was still gooey in some parts. It had a doughy flour taste that I wasn't used to. Maybe I'll try something else next time. Oh and the coffee was just okay. More on the acidic and bitter side, even with the hazelnut creamer. Of all the ways to ingest potatoes I think sliced potatoes is one of my favorites right along with hash browns and tots. Whether it's the mojo potatoes from Shakey's, to the Saratoga chips in the Cinicinnati area, to the potatoes au gratin at Ruth's Chris'--there's something about soft sliced potatoes that makes it amazing to eat. Cowboy Surfer Grill turns this amazing culinary advancement into the perfect breakfast base by plopping a country-fried steak on top and covering it in gravy for their BP Risin' breakfast plate. Then, to be extra wicked, they put fried eggs on top, add more gravy, and then add cheese to the mix to make the even better Lone Ranger breakfast plate. It's all very delicious and appetizing and dangerous. The service is especially great with some of the most friendly servers I've had in the last five years. They're the type to take you under their wing if you're new to the food joint but also treat you like you've been friends for years if you start coming regularly. The place is small, but cozy. The decor has a decidedly beach feel to mixed with an outdoor rustic ruggedness. I like it. It's very inviting in its aesthetic. I have gone to this place plenty of times and never had a bad experience until today. First off, my coffee was cold. I told one of the servers I would like my coffee hot please so she took my coffee and just reheated it in the microwave. Which was a horrible thing to do rather than just giving me a fresh cup of hot coffee. I asked for scrambled eggs and the egg was not even scrambled and raw in the middle. Again, I told the same lady. She took the plate and had the cook scramble the egg with all the chalula sauce I had previously added on it. I then asked her why I didn't get a new egg rather than cooking the same one with all the sauce on it. She told me I had to tell her I wanted a new fresh egg. I mean, this is common sense to give your customer a fresh egg and not cook it with the hot sauce already on it. This rude worker yelled across the whole restaurant to tell her boss I was mad at her. Very unprofessional lady and is definitely in the wrong field. Not planning on giving them my business anymore. Not even the manager or owner had the decency to come to the table and apologize to me. And to top it off, we were seated at the end by the restroom and smelt horrible. Terrible place and would NEVER go back. Hope others read this and think twice about this place. read more

When you first walk in, you're looking at funny and interesting quotes and art covering the walls. Branding is huge here with their cowboy surfer mascot all over the mugs, table tops, and chairs. It all feels reminiscently Disney-esque. I was pleased to find a vegetarian/vegan section in their newspaper/menu where you could order both breakfast and lunch. The portions are generous and we ended up taking home leftovers, which even eaten hours later was still tasty. And as busy as they were, all the waitresses had stopped by our table to check in on us. It's no wonder this place is so popular. We lucked out and only had to wait a few minutes before being seated, not realizing it's recommended to call ahead. We had such a great experience, and a huge part of that was our waitress, Carole. We've been a few times and she is our favorite gal! She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down. She checked on us at just the right times, kept our drinks full, and made excellent menu recommendations.
