I would give more stars if I could. My family and I went to enjoy the band Southbound and it was amazing. My brothers, their wives and my two nephews were impressed with the fresh food, and the service as were my husband and I. That manager (I think she was the manager) was running around and taking care of customers and assisting staff. The staff was professional as was the customer service and the timing. It was packed and I expected a wait on the service but the kitchen and staff were on top of things. The band....what can I say. They were really good. Yeah we're older so the set was perfect. We are so disappointed. We've been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the food. Recently, we stopped by for lunch and the food was terrible. We thought maybe it was just a one-time situation since everyone can have an off day. Unfortunately, we decided to give it another try today with a to-go order, and once again the food was very disappointing. To be fair, we should have checked the order before leaving, but we've honestly never had issues here before aside from last week. The nacho order we received looked nothing like what was requested, and the overall quality was far below what we've come to expect over the years. We're not sure if there's a new chef or if management has changed something recently, but the difference in quality has been very noticeable. We hate leaving a negative review for a place we've supported for so long, but after two bad experiences back-to-back, we felt it was important to share our disappointment. Decided to drop into flat top last night since there was a live band playing and noticed they'd been advertising a lot of new food, wanted to check it out. Band was great as always unfortunately the food and service was mid at best for the way they're advertising. Wife ordered a steak salad with no onions. It showed up with onions which was whatever, the steak was SO overcooked like chewing jerky . No one brought out ranch so I had to go search for a waitress after 10+ minutes of waiting, as ours seemed to be overwhelmed by a larger party. I ordered this Kobe beef hotdog thinking it be this large gourmet type hot dog in a large bun , covered in vegetables and sauces , boy was I wrong honestly I couldn't even be mad it was so pitiful . This thing came out looking like something I'd throw together as a teen , bun was so hard, small and just flat on the plate like a piece of bread with a naked hot dog laying there . Hardly any veggies or anything on top. I've seen 100x better street dogs on food carts outside concert venues and Disneyland for $5. But whatever that's what I get for trying something new. Then I asked to substitute sweet potato fries instead of regular fries expecting it to be 2-3$ more like it's always been when I've done it in the past with burgers and such. Instead they bring out a separate giant plate of sweet potato fries for $12 and say they can't substitute with the hot dog. Of course I didn't finish even 1/2 the plate of these since I was looking for a side substitution not a meal for 4. Smh, if I knew this I'd just not waste $12 on top of the $18 sad kids dog I was given. Ordering beer , first beer came out in 5-7 min not bad at all, great start to night. We ordered second beer as we planned on staying till band finished and drinking for a bit after dinner, It literally took 20 minutes to get a simple draft beer. Unfortunately I couldn't bring myself to stick around for a third with how long drinks take so we ended up leaving at 8:45 and going to the bar down the street where they get beers out in minutes and have $10 street dogs that put that $18 Kobe beef dog to shame. I wasn't going to leave this review. I don't like leaving negative reviews. But when one is deserved, it takes me a couple of days to get the nerve. Party of three on Saturday, equaled $105. Nothing extravagant was ordered. Let me break it down for you. Each soda was five dollars, not 2.95, not 3.50 like other restaurants; five dollars! And I think they needed to change their carbonation thing because our sodas were flat. We had a snarky server. A young man. Or he looked young. When my husband asked if they had sweet tea, he said yes. When he brought the tea to my husband, he asked him if he wanted sweetener. So my husband said "oh it's not sweet tea?" And the gentleman said "no, but I can bring you sweetener". There is a big difference between tea with sweetener, and sweet tea. He brought the sweetener, kind of tossed it on the table, my husband thanked him, the gentleman just replied with "yep", and walked away. Maybe he heard us discussing the difference between sweet tea and tea with sweetener. My teenaged son asked for a water, he brought him a tall glass of water with one ice cube that was already halfway melted. Now the ridiculous pricing of my husband's three Carne Asada tacos. $22. No rice and beans, no side of chips with salsa or anything. $22 for three street style sized Carne Asada tacos. $18 for an 8 piece of wings. Thats more than $2 per wing. Overly sauced too. My poke nachos were priced appropriately. My sons burger and fries also seemed over priced but wont complain on that. We were just blown away when our check came. We were not rude customers, we thanked the young man every time he came to our table, said please and thank you, etc. But from the moment he sort of rushed us to take our order by just standing there when my husband wasn't even ready, to him tossing the sweetener on the table, we were just ready to finish our food and get out of there. This was probably our fourth visit. And will not be returning. Two stars only because I order the Poki nachos every visit and am pleased with them. And yes, I understand that we saw the pricing on the menu prior to ordering. It was mostly the quality of the higher priced items, being low quality; at best. I came into Flat Top today on my lunch break and drove 25 minutes just to get back to work and realize my order was completely wrong. Not only was the order incorrect, but there were no napkins, forks, or knives included either. I ordered the nachos with everything on them, and they came basically plain. On top of that, the chips tasted old and stale. It honestly felt like old food was being served, which is really disappointing and disgusting. I've been coming here for years, and the quality has gone way downhill. I'm extremely unhappy with this experience, especially after going out of my way during my limited lunch break. read more

We got here around noon on a Sunday and the interior was already super loud despite being more than half empty. Fortunately, they offered us outdoor seating, which was much more quiet. The setting is nice, not high end but comfortable and elegant. Our server initially didn't seem very interested in us, but once she came to our table was super chipper and excited about explaining the menu. We had lots of attention throughout the meal as well. The food itself was great. The shrimp pasta dish was my favorite. The brunch items were also well liked by guests. While not very familiar with the area, Flat Top Bar and Grill popped up on my Yelp while I was hungry and looking for a place to grab a bite with a friend. Little did I know it was more like a neighborhood bar with a nice amount of seating area. They had some good amounts of steaks on the menu and I felt like it had to try one of those out. The Skirt Steak with chimichurri sounded great and I chose the loaded baked potato for my side to go with it. The flavor of the steak itself was pretty good but I did not like the side of chimichurri it came with as it tasted like nothing so I'm glad I got to avoid that and just enjoy the meat and potatoes. For a fun and great drinking bar, I would definitely praise the amount and artistry of the alcoholic beverages. The prices appeared reasonable at first, until I ordered Surf and Turf. As done by another review, I agree my steak lacked flavor, though it had a nice grill look. I requested rare and found my steak lacking juicy taste. However, the shrimp and lobster made up for the steaks imperfection. Though the seafood were small, I enjoyed them more the 8oz steak needing A1 sauce. The server Daniel was really nice and even offered to replace my dish. I declined, as I know better tasting meet needs marinating or smoking before grilling. I at least enjoy time hanging out with colleagues With the heat warmer and nice outdoor space. Came here first week of the new year during the week for lunch. I've seen videos of this place online and knew I had to try soon. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. As we were looking over our menu a highly intoxicated man was roaming around the tables, it had us in guard. A server took him outside. We ordered and once we saw the presentation of our food we were excited to try. Half way thru our amazing meal the same intoxicated man started roaming around the table then went back to the bar talking about women. I believe it was the owner or manager came and let him know he'll need to finish his drink and leave. The man went back outside. Once we finished our food we wanted to try a dessert. We tried the butter cake. Let me start off with our steaks and sides. WOOOOOOW AMAZING everything was made to perfection, hats off to the chef. Definitely coming back for the amazing food. Now that butter cake. I've had a few butter cakes in my life. This one I wouldn't be having again. Maybe try a different dessert. So the only reason why a star is missing is for the cake and definitely for the intoxicated man that made my time there guarded. Hopefully my next visit will be better. This was our first time here. We made a reservation for my Husband's birthday. We had somewhat of a large group of 9 people. We didn't all make it on time but they still seated those of us who were there, so that was nice. They didn't leave a drink menu with the food menus so the 7 of us who did show up on time had asked for one, but still had not received one by the time the last 2 of us arrived. We still waited another 10 or 15 minutes after that before even seeing our server then receiving the drink menu after having to ask for it again. When the first 7 of us arrived, 3 of us ordered bottled beer (without the drink menu). 2 of us got our beer and the 3rd one wasn't brought to us until after the drink menu was dropped off. The rest of the drinks came out relatively quickly as did the appetizers we ordered with the drinks. We got the apps before we ever got any plates or utensils so we just had to wait again. The bacon wrapped dates were decent as were the nachos. For entrees, we ordered 2 different steak dishes, lobster tail, steak bites w/brussels sprouts, shrimp cocktail (app menu), a burger, chicken Alfredo, the dog, BLT, and the fish n chips. For dessert we ordered the creme brulee and butter cake. We all waited for for each other to begin so half of us ended up eating cold food because it all came out at very different times. The shrimp cocktail came out last, but as the easiest thing to prepare, that was a head scratcher for us. The NY steak was overcooked and the lobster tail was inedible - that was the bday boy's entree, so very disappointing. We both had brussel sprouts with our dishes and mine were cooked well (not seasoned) but his were barely steamed. Not at all roasted or fried. The ribeye steak was undercooked. Both steak dishes were ordered medium. The noodles in the alfredo were also undercooked. The Cadillac margarita was decent. The peach cobbler martini said it came with a graham cracker rim but it was just sprinkled on the top of the drink. It was still tasty, though. The creme brulee was super ice cold (I know some places do it cold but it seemed almost frozen), had a consistency thicker than flan and was chunky, not creamy. The top was barely caramelized. The butter cake had no crisp to it. Our server was given several large tables pretty close together in time so we knew he had his hands full. However, we saw him at the other tables far more often than at ours. He was still very nice. However the bus boy was more attentive than our server was able to be. I almost forgot to take pictures so the ones I got were after everyone stopped eating. The only dish that was eaten fully was the dog. They also made no mention of the birthday we were celebrating, even though I specified it in our reservation. The patio is cool, though. $552 bill. We tipped the bus boy with what cash we had and the server on the bill. So $679 in total, but we won't be going back. read more

Tonight I had the lemon chicken. It was wonderful, I forgot to take a photo but it melted in my mouth.would recommend. It had a really good lemon sauce. I chose mashed potatoes as my side. Came here tonight with my boyfriend for Valentine's day. Cute little spot. We had a reservation and we got sat right away. The server was very cute and energetic I believe her name was Senia. The kitchen was really slow tonight, it took us about an hour to get our food and seemed a bit unorganized. However it was Valentine's Day so we didn't think too much of it. We ordered the tomahawk dinner for 2. I had the lobster bisque to start which was absolutely fantastic. Highly recommend! Then we tried to bacon wrapped dates. Where do I start? When I arrived I was standing by the door waiting to be seated with my friends who were not in the first room (the bar). No one acknowledged me until another group came in and I said I had been waiting - they said just go find your group yourself. Ok. Found my friends- table was small, high with uncomfortable chairs. Waitress was friendly but didn't seem to have been trained - clumsy service. Big tv screens all around with sports - turned up loud. My burger was good but I asked for a substitute salad for the fries and they charged $6 extra on a burger that was already $20. Really overpriced - not worth the $$$.
