I go here for lunch sometimes. I usually get the Thai or green tea egg puff, which are made to order and very tasty. Staff always apologizes for the wait but I don't think it's bad if it's being made fresh. Jasmine tea is VERY strong in my opinion, but I like it very flowery. I was picking up dinner at Waba Grill next door and saw that this bakery was open. I decided to give it a try and bring some back for dessert. Ordered a red velvet cupcake, green tea cup cake, green tea egg puff with mochi and a dozen macarons of assorted flavors. We started with the red velvet cup cakes. at $2.50+ a piece, it was a HUGE disappointment. I have no problem paying up to $3-4 per cupcake if it is a quality cupcake like those from Sprinkles. However, I've honestly had better cupcakes from Walmart. These are definitely home made, but the thing is... you can tell they're home made. That's not a compliment. The macarons were smaller than usual, but consistent in size. Consistently small, but consistent. They were not consistent in texture or composition. Some were hollow and dry, others were chewy and moist. None of the flavors I tried were amazing enough to justify the $2/pc price tag (no price break if you buy a dozen either). The pricing is on point with Bottega Louie, but the quality and taste definitely is not. I did like how some of the flavors were dressed up with additional decorative swirls and sprinkles, and that they had exotic flavors like lychee, thai tea, strawberry cheesecake and more. However, some of them were dry and had very hollow shells which made it feel like you were eating flavored air. Not good considering how small these things are. I wouldn't come back for these. Like many people, I love green tea. The leaf variety as well as the matcha type. I'm a fan of all things green tea, green tea ice cream, green tea pocky, green tea kit kats, green tea everything. Their green tea cup cake did not taste like any green tea I've ever had. I took one bite, nearly spit it out, and threw the rest of the $2.50 cupcake away. What a waste of money. I was about to give them 2 stars due to their egg puff, which was really good. But then they were only good for the first 5-10 minutes. I had one in the car on the way home. By the time I got home, they lost all crispiness and were very soggy. To be fair, the cashier told me they were best served warm. Speaking of the cashier, it seems like the entire staff was brand new. This place seems like they just hired whoever came by. I would at least hire someone with some food service or customer service experience. Not to say that they were bad or provided bad service, but you could tell this was their first job that required them to deal with people. Bottom line, WAY overpriced for home made goods that taste home made. They do not taste like they were made from a professional bakery, more like someone's kitchen with random ingredients they happened to have around. Definitely not worth the price. You don't set a high price and build your product to meet that standard. You price accordingly and build your product until you get it to the level to justify a high price. read more

Thank you Puffect Bakery for the best birthday cake we have had since having 3 kids. Today was my daughter's 1st birthday and her cake was the prettiest and tastest cake we've ever gotten for the kids birthdays. It was so beautiful and tied everything together on the cake table. Cherie is an incredible cake designer and really listened to our requests. She was very patient with us and designed the cake even better than what we imagined. Everyone at the party really enjoyed the cake too and said how delicious it was! The staff at Puffect Bakery are also amazing because they delivered the cake last minute even though they didn't have to. They saw a mom with a 1 year old baby by herself trying to transport a beautiful, masterpiece of a cake and were so willing to help me in anyway they could. I am so grateful to the two guys who work at this bakery for delivering the cake to the venue. They really didn't have to but they became my knights in shining armor and delivered the cake safe and sound. Everyone said how beautiful it was! Thank you Puffect Bakery!! This place is pretty cute! Outside the bakery, the design is so cute. I think this place wanted to make it super nice and cute looking. When I stopped by earlier, they were taking pictures too! I thought it was a professional photo shoot of the bakery! Hahaha Anyways, the parking here is pretty spacious. I believe this place is located in a industrial area so not a lot of food areas near. You would have to keep on driving down Valley if you want more food places. The service here was ok I would say. The girl who helped me was nice but her customer service wasn't what I expected. I came here for the cute macarons only so thats what I bought. The price is kind of expensive for a tiny little cookie. If you want the cute character ones I think they were $3? I actually don't remember cause I came here a while back. I remember the big lollipop macaron price though. That was $5 which I thought was good cause it was cute and super huge! I got a cute panda and gave it to my bff. She loved it~~ Overall, I would recommend anyone who has a sweet tooth looking for something sweet during the day to try here. Their macarons are microscopic, and full of air. I think I almost scratched my gums on them and there were so many crumbs (they're supposed to be soft). It's pretty sad, especially because they make their prices comparable to better places with bigger, better quality macarons with less air. Drive a little further for good quality macarons. read more

I came in and bought three cupcakes. I paid about $8 for the three. The cupcakes were very dry and bland. Also i feel that the price for the cupcakes are too expensive. Other bakeries charge a little more but are a lot bigger than then the cupcakes sold here. Cupcakes here are about the same size of cupcakes you can make at home. Service was great though. very cute dessert place! i've always loved the classic HK egg waffles and this place has a really unique take on them. their flavors consist of thai tea, red velvet, green tea, black sesame, and the original. You can also ask them to stuff the waffles! Yesterday, I tried the matcha green tea waffle with mochi cooked inside and fruits and nutella drizzle over the top :) it was pretty good but I'm probably still more of a fan of the classic egg waffle. The prices here are okay. I wouldn't say its a great deal but they're pretty reasonable for one of the cutesy dessert places. I might just be biased because the waffles are like $1 in asia :) they also have the most adorable macarons which i have yet to try but they make them in different shapes and sizes and decorate them. They can do anything from greek letters to pandas to disney characters. Another plus is that they do custom orders for their large ones so you can ask them to design anything and you can be sure it'll come out looking great! I also tried their lychee peach green tea which was pretty refreshing and not too sweet. You can choose any tea base (green tea, oolong, white tea) and add up to 2 fruits in it and adjust the sweetness. Macarons are $2 a piece (not really related, but I found it odd that they advertised them as 6 for $12, as if it was some sort of deal, when obviously it's not...), and like others said, are smaller than some other places. For me, the size isn't what brings it down to 2 stars though. While there are plenty of flavors to choose from, including some that you don't see at every macaron shop, like Thai tea, blueberry cheesecake, and cookie batter, they are too artificially sweet. Like the kind that leaves a weird after taste in your mouth, leaving me to drink tons of water to try and get rid of it (but only to have it return minutes later). The cookie part was also too crunchy and crumbly - I like mine to be on the chewier side. I will say that we didn't eat the macarons right away, and we did refrigerate them for maybe 30 minutes? But we ate them about 7-8 hours after purchasing, and 3-4 hours after taking them out of the 'fridge. We also got a strawberry chocolate cupcake, which comes with a chocolate covered strawberry on top, and strawberry frosting. All the cupcakes were decorated in the same swirly, flower frosting top, and there were about 6 flavors to choose from (Thai tea, green tea, vanilla, s'mores, samoa, strawberry chocolate from what I remember). Nothing too special, just your average cupcake. Very cute place, but unfortunately the taste doesn't live up to the looks :( read more

Today was the grand opening for this cute cafe and I totally love it! I've been waiting for Puffect to open since November. Purplish theme and a good vibe. Relaxing and quaint definitely a nice cafe to come to. Possibly a new place for me to study in! The employees seemed a bit confused at first but for a grand opening and being in a new cafe I can't blame them for not having the ebb and flow down right away. They have smoothies, teas, macarons, paninis, and Egg Puffs! Having tried one item from each category I haven't come across anything I dislike! The teas especially are wonderful, they don't use any artificial sweeteners or syrups. I was actually surprised to find a place that sold Hong Kong style waffles (Egg Puffs) let alone in different favors. The flavors of macarons are unique too! I've never come across a samoas flavored macaron let alone a Thai tea and lychee macaron so I'm glad this place is creative and delicious! Cupcakes are moist and the frosting is just the right amount of sweet which I love since so many places just pile super sweet frosting on top of the cupcake which just ruins the whole thing. read more

We came here to buy some macaroons for a party and they were delicious. Unlike most macaroons, Puffect's had the right amount of sugar for me. I could enjoy more macaroons now, because I finally found a place that have macaroons that aren't overly sweet. They could work a bit around the bakery though. I have a local small business and I ordered their cupcakes and macarons on several occasions as gifts to our customers. The girls at Puffect Bakery were able to write little notes directly on the macarons with edible ink for that personal touch. Our customers were always happy to receive these tasty treats. Saw the grand opening sign driving home from work and came with the wife to try it out. The smell inside is great because of the fresh egg puffs. We wanted to try cupcakes and macarons. I'm a Thai tea lover so those flavors instantly attracted me. The thai tea cupcake did not have the essence of the flavors of thai tea. It was also a little bit dry for me. The Thai tea macaron did have a little more thai tea flavor but was very small for $2 a pop. We also tried the strawberry cheesecake, taro and cookie butter. All macarons were small and the flavors did not really stand out. They all tasted very similar. Not something I expected when shelling out $2 per piece. Finally a macaron spot nearby! I dont have to drive all the way to Downtown LA or Brea or SD to get my fix. This is a pretty new spot. The macarons are okay. I will say that they are super tiny for $2.00 a piece! Its not top notch...def not up to par with bottega louie, but it will fix a craving lol. It can be a bit dry at times but still decent. Tried it and let's just say the price and taste wasn't that great. $2 for each macaron is a little bit steep and if I'm paying for that price, I expect that the taste will blow me away. This place is the BEST! The macarons are really really good! The character ones are really cool and they taste just as good as they look! They also have quite a few so you don't have to worry about them selling out too much. They have paninis and smoothies even the egg puffs! The atmosphere really nice and comfortable. Everything is clean and the staff is super duper nice! They were super helpful when it came to keeping my macarons fresh on the drive back to San Francisco.
