Just came by to checkout a childhood treat I used to get as a kid. Essentially it's a fried wonton with sweet syrup. I noticed it right away in photos and I had to check it out. The place is a small shop and the shop owner stated they've been there for 51 years. They only had the butterfly and almond cookies left roughly one hour before closing. I was never an almond cookie lover so I skipped on trying that but I found out at my party that several party goers loved almond cookies when they grew up so I'll be back for more butterflies and almond cookies in my next event. They have ample parking in this lot so there will always be parking to get your treats. read more

Great cakes and super delicious. They're hard to get a hold of but once you get your first cake you'll be hooked.

Great banana and strawberry cake! So fluffy and delicious! I'd definitely come back!!!

Super clean store with great prices!! I needed a cake that same day and they said they have 7" and 8" strawberry cakes ready to go. I asked for purple flowers which they beautifully added and they added writing in matching pastel purple! Only $28 WOW. For bigger cakes, def call ahead! Just keep in mind they close on Mondays and only open 11am-2:30pm. They accept Apple Pay and card but require a minimum $20 transaction for credit cards. When I went to pick up the cake I saw they also sell tea and milk tea for like $3 to $4 per drink which is such a great price. Will be back to try their teas!!! read more

Did not order in advance but I needed a cake last minute. Luckily they had exactly one cake left when I stopped by after running errands. Cake is reasonably priced, got a 7in Strawberry cake for $28. It was perfectly sized for my 5 person family and we had leftovers but it was still moist even after 2 days. Cake was delicious, and the perfect level of sweetness. I will be coming back for future orders to try the other fruit filling offers. read more

This place is OK--not as good as Chinatown, but it'll do when I'm too lazy to drive myself down there for just butterflies or almond cookies. Lately (especially since one of their family members had an unfortunate accident), it's been frustrating to try to get anything: they don't make the butterflies every week, and I've made 4 trips to over the past month and a half and only succeeded in getting anything at all on one occasion. First trip was mid-January. Turns out that was the first day they had reduced hours because of the injury and I was there an hour after they closed. Second trip (about a month later): they didn't have butterflies until the week after. Third trip the following week: I forgot about the family member who was out (or maybe I thought they'd be back because that's how we do), so I artived after close again. Fourth trip: finally got the goods! Was it worth it? The almond cookies were good, but the butterflies were a bit flat and not airy, like they were just deep-fried wonton skins with thickened sugar syrup on them. Both times (out of 4 attempts!) I actually caught them when they were open (granted, I'm an early afternoon person, not an early morning one), there were only 1 or 2 cakes in the case, a bunch of bags of cookies, and, on the one successful visit, I got the last order of butterflies. Haven't had their strawberry cake in years (that first trip was for my birthday cake, womp womp), but they look the same. Moral of the story: get there early or be disappointed...or just drive to Chinatown. read more

Back in 1984 my medical assistant teacher bought our class a cake for passing our exam it was full of strawberries and cream the cake was like sponge cake so fluffy and the almonds just made it more wonderful . Loved it so much I bought one for my daughters 5th birthday and she loved so much she told me she never wanted any other kind of cake only that kind. From the dragon bakery today 3/12/13 I m buying her cake she is now 34. Thank you dragon bakery your like our family !!! read more

Honestly, taste wise THE BEST CAKE! But what's up with you guys not opening on time? Two times I've left my house extra early to make it here before work and you're never open on time. Today, I waited until 10:30am. You have a sign on your door that says you open at 10am. In really disappointed. Just open when you say you are or change your hours if 10am is too early for you. read more

The cake was beautiful and ready on time. Everyone really enjoyed it. I can't wait to order another one.

Legit authentic Chinese bakery, tastes just like those [pre-hipster bougie] cakes from when you were young--spongey, light, lightly sweetened, fruit and whipped cream filling. Bought a 1/2 sheet for my grandma's 90th bday (~$95). Ordered online, which was simple. Almonds on the outside? (Y/N). Up to 2 fruit fillings (we chose strawberry and peach, so it was strawberries on one side, peach on the other). Your choice of color of flower. Select an available pick up date/time. Also got their almond cookies (12/$3). I thought that was a great price and party goers seemed to like them. My grandma also grabbed some to put in her pocket for later. Lol. They must've been good. My Chinese aunts and uncles approved of the cake and were surprised that it was from a bakery in City of Industry and not our typical MPK/San Gabriel area. Thanks fellow Yelpers, for the great recommendation! read more

Absolutely a childhood memory this bakery. Phenomenal taste, fresh, not immensely sweet , almonds on the side give the cake. Phenomenal taste and crunch, frosting is delicious, we had the half strawberry and half pineapple and definitely a thumbs up better than expected!!! Those butterflies were a huge hit it's like Heaven in your mouth !!!! Most definitely recommended!!!! Found my cake place !!!!! read more

Same old cake with the spongy cake and pineapple, strawberry or peach centers but, I am sad to say no more of the creative designs. I went in to purchase my husband's annual birthday cake and I wanted to switch it up and instead of flowers have balloons on it. I was ordering a few days in advance and came in person. The person there said we don't offer that. I said Patrick use to draw them with the frosting. She said Patrick is no longer the owner, she was very rude about it. . I was just disappointed. She said "We don't have a baker that makes anything other than flowers freestyle!?! I was surprised I know Patrick sold the bakery a few years ago and there have been some changes. Unfortunately the new owners just sell cakes with plastic decorations or flowers!! The cakes are still spongy and yummy. I just wonder are they precooked and defrosted, do they order the whipped frosting. Well I will start going back to dragon bakery down town. Well I am not planning on coming back anytime soon. read more

Absolutely love the cakes here at Dragon Bakery! Their sponge cakes never disappoint. I love the flavor and light airiness of the cake along with the soft whipped frosting and generous portion of almonds/filling. Our go to cake for birthday's is usually a vanilla sponge cake with half banana and half strawberry filling and almonds around the edge. The prices of the cake aren't pricey either. Purchased our 10' inch cake for $40 day thankfully due to a cancellation. Definitely recommend ordering ahead of time for your event. read more

Ordering process was easy, I called a week ahead and got a 7 inch birthday cake with strawberry fillings. The lady asked me what time I'd be picking up and we scheduled the pickup after 11am. Today's the day and we got there 11am on the dot, the cake was ready inside their fridge. I'm so glad I didn't just walk in to get a cake, because that's the only cake they had inside that fridge!!! It's my first time trying out dragon bakery, maybe they're not like other bakeries where they have premade cakes or maybe it's because of pandemic. They have a table set up right by their front door to block any customers from going in. Pickup and pay process was quick and easy. The guy wrote happy birthday on the cake and showed it to me to make sure everything looks good before he packed it. Cake was okay. Not as good as I anticipated. But it's a great deal for $20. Much better than store bought cakes. Super standard design, white cake with two flowers on top and that's it. Not the best looking cake but it's light, fuffy, and fresh. Loved their strawberry fillings. Insane amount of creams! My daughter loves it. I think I'm going to order a plain white cake next time and decorate it with cake toppers from Amazon. read more

THE BEST CAKE ILL EVER HAVE! PLEASE STAY OPEN FOREVER!!!!!! This place holds a little special place on my heart, and I will be a customer as long as they're open for business. This cake is so light, fluffy, and has never let me down. I remember getting my cake here as a kid, and now I'm an adult getting it for the young kids in my family. SERVICE/: The owners are so nice and really go out of their way to make sure you're happy, and have a fresh/top notch cake that you're going to enjoy for your whatever special occasion you're celebrating. PRICE: Priced GREAT. We paid 23.00, and the cake fed an easy 7 people with leftovers. Sure, a Costco sheet cake is 20.00, but let me tell you, I would easily pay double for this cake because it is really worth it. The fresh ingredients are worth every penny that we paid, and I can GREATLY taste the difference. QUALITY VS QUANTITY ANYDAY! TASTE: I have no idea what type of greatness they put in these cakes, but it is my favorite. The airy poundcake but not poundcake with almonds, fresh strawberries, and whipped frosting is literally to DIE for! I try not to eat sweets, but this cake gets me every single time. I hope when I have a child, I can carry on my childhood tradition of getting my cakes here. I have never had one bad cake from this place, and I know I never will. Also, their almond cookies and e-Claire's are the SHIT too!!!!! Try one of you can! OVERALL: If you're thinking of trying it, say no more and do it. I promise you will not regret it! read more

I started going here in 1984, used to buy my birthday cakes here. I even bought my wedding cake here, but once I moved out of the area I didn't come as often, it's been about 10 years since I bought a cake, but my Mom's 87th birthday was coming up, she has dementia so I wanted to ask her what kind of cake she wanted and she said "the good one, the one with almonds outside" and I instantly knew what cake she was asking for. So I looked up Dragon Bakery, and was happy to see they are still in business. The cake & customer service was just as good as I remembered. read more

Been ordering cakes from here for many years and love every cake ordered. We've bought regular cakes the same day, special ordered, and customized for baptisms. The Dragon Bakery sells amazing cakes! I will always buy birthday cakes from here. The only complaint I have is the past few times I've gone they haven't opened on time. OMG they finally stopped over cooking the butterflies. My sister ordered butterflies for my birthday party which was July 22nd 2024. They were outstanding. Everyone enjoyed them because there were fried lightly. They can still use more of the syrup they're dipped into to make them exceptional. In the pass they we're overcooked almost burnt and sometimes just had to throw them out. We normally always go into Chinatown to the Phoenix bakery that makes butterflies outstanding, lightly fried and covered with the syrup. Keep making them lightly fried please. read more

A small "hole in the wall" type of spot. Do not judge a book by the cover. The plaza seems sketchy and creepy but this bakery is a piece of treasure. I walked in and ordered a strawberry milk drink. It was soooooo good. Definitely will go back just for that. I came in just to look and was very happy upon leaving. I also left with three large cookies, they were only $1 something each. They were also very clean inside. You can step more than two feet in so it's only one customer at a time. There's a table in front with sanitizer, napkins, the staffs in gloves and masks. I would love to order a cake from here one day to see what is tastes like. Hopefully soon. I've seen a lot of great reviews on their cakes. I suggest trying that strawberry milk tea! Delicious! read more
