This place is OK--not as good as Chinatown, but it'll do when I'm too lazy to drive myself down there for just butterflies or almond cookies. Lately (especially since one of their family members had an unfortunate accident), it's been frustrating to try to get anything: they don't make the butterflies every week, and I've made 4 trips to over the past month and a half and only succeeded in getting anything at all on one occasion. First trip was mid-January. Turns out that was the first day they had reduced hours because of the injury and I was there an hour after they closed. Second trip (about a month later): they didn't have butterflies until the week after. Third trip the following week: I forgot about the family member who was out (or maybe I thought they'd be back because that's how we do), so I artived after close again. Fourth trip: finally got the goods! Was it worth it? The almond cookies were good, but the butterflies were a bit flat and not airy, like they were just deep-fried wonton skins with thickened sugar syrup on them. Both times (out of 4 attempts!) I actually caught them when they were open (granted, I'm an early afternoon person, not an early morning one), there were only 1 or 2 cakes in the case, a bunch of bags of cookies, and, on the one successful visit, I got the last order of butterflies. Haven't had their strawberry cake in years (that first trip was for my birthday cake, womp womp), but they look the same. Moral of the story: get there early or be disappointed...or just drive to Chinatown. read more

Just came by to checkout a childhood treat I used to get as a kid. Essentially it's a fried wonton with sweet syrup. I noticed it right away in photos and I had to check it out. The place is a small shop and the shop owner stated they've been there for 51 years. They only had the butterfly and almond cookies left roughly one hour before closing. I was never an almond cookie lover so I skipped on trying that but I found out at my party that several party goers loved almond cookies when they grew up so I'll be back for more butterflies and almond cookies in my next event. I asked for purple flowers which they beautifully added and they added writing in matching pastel purple! Only $28 WOW. For bigger cakes, def call ahead! Just keep in mind they close on Mondays and only open 11am-2:30pm. They accept Apple Pay and card but require a minimum $20 transaction for credit cards. When I went to pick up the cake I saw they also sell tea and milk tea for like $3 to $4 per drink which is such a great price. Will be back to try their teas!!! read more

I love the flavor and light airiness of the cake along with the soft whipped frosting and generous portion of almonds/filling. OMG they finally stopped over cooking the butterflies. My sister ordered butterflies for my birthday party which was July 22nd 2024. They were outstanding. Everyone enjoyed them because there were fried lightly. They can still use more of the syrup they're dipped into to make them exceptional. In the pass they we're overcooked almost burnt and sometimes just had to throw them out. We normally always go into Chinatown to the Phoenix bakery that makes butterflies outstanding, lightly fried and covered with the syrup. Keep making them lightly fried please. read more

A small "hole in the wall" type of spot. Do not judge a book by the cover. The plaza seems sketchy and creepy but this bakery is a piece of treasure. I walked in and ordered a strawberry milk drink. It was soooooo good. Definitely will go back just for that. I came in just to look and was very happy upon leaving. I also left with three large cookies, they were only $1 something each. They were also very clean inside. You can step more than two feet in so it's only one customer at a time. There's a table in front with sanitizer, napkins, the staffs in gloves and masks.
