We bought an elote, tortuga and can't recall the third piece of pan, and alfajores. The elote was delicious, I love that you can see little specs of cinnamon, soft and tender and vanilla scent. The tortuga was a bit more spongy, fragrant, and nice balanced of sweetness. The alfajores were buttery, crisp and smeared with dulce de leche. I needed a bday cake and decided to order the strawberry shortcake, because it looked so pretty. The cake was a hit with the family. The frosting was super light, the filling is one layer of custard and the other of light whipped cream and berries. The sponge is moist, the cake is not sweet, but decadent in its creamy texture. The inside of the store is aesthetically appealing, traditional glass cases showcase the pan. I'm so glad to have a nearby bakery and cake shop!

Like some of the reviews already mentioned, this location is more of a "grab and go" type of place. They have a solid selection of cakes, pastries, and drinks. If you are looking for their full breakfast menu, the Monrovia location down the street is where you would want to go! When I visited, they were celebrating their 1-year anniversary with an outside table of samplers. They had a balloon arch outside to signal to the community that they are celebrating something special as well. The lady out front shared with me what they had to offer, and she also mentioned that they do catering! I like my coffee strong but also on the sweet side. When I asked for the stronger option, I was recommended to get the cappucino rather than the latte and they can make the caffeine a little bit more concentrated without sacrificing the flavor. The cookies were a little dry for my taste but maybe it was because the samplers were sitting outside for a little too long. I would go back just to try the breakfast sandwich, but the experience of grabbing food was pretty fast and the food was flavorful enough! Excited to have a closer Cafe de Olla to me and wishing them so much success!

It honestly feels like stepping into a castle floating in the clouds. The staff/barista was incredibly friendly and helpful. He gave thoughtful recommendations and made great adjustments to the drink based on what I ordered. You can tell he really cares about getting it right. The drink itself came out looking so cute -- and tasted just as good. Perfect balance of flavors without being overpowering. Honestly, next time I might skip the toppings altogether because the drink already shines on its own. No boba needed when the base is that good. Such a fun vibe and a solid spot I'd happily come back to.

Their Dream Cloud is soft serve surrounded by a ring of cotton candy - this is such a fun treat for kids. The texture was creamy, and the pistachio flavor in mine was light without being overpowering. Overall, our family enjoyed our sweet treats and the playful atmosphere.

There were already people waiting and a decently sized line began to form! Despite the growing crowd, the person who helped us was very friendly and encouraged us to try all the flavors if we wanted to. While we tried each flavor, she described each of its components in great detail - something I truly appreciated!! Everything was delicious but I personally ended up getting the Mango Sago and Vietnamese Coffee (probably would not mix the two next time lol but delicious individually). The mango sago tasted like fresh mangoes and reminded me of a rich high quality mango sorbet. SO. Good. The perfect summer treat! Vietnamese coffee tasted exactly like how the drink would taste, which I was honestly surprised about since coffee ice creams are flavored a bit sweeter than the actual drink. It was perfect for me but may not be everyone's cup of tea because it does have bitterness :) The ambiance in there is amazing - details in every cranny and nook of the space. It's retro and very chill / relaxing! There are a very limited amount of tables but I did see stacks of plastic stools for people to sit on outside. Also there's a coin machine where you can purchase lactaid. A small gesture keeping the community in mind haha.

It was awesome that there were some samples to try and that definitely helped in my decision for my daughter's birthday cake in a couple months. For the 2 birthday cakes, we got the rainbow cake and Basque cheesecake. And for father's day we had the banana cream pie. From sampling the available cakes, my favorite is the Vietnamese Tres Leshes and Ube Hopia cake. Instead of the Basque Cheesecake, we should have grabbed the Sesame Basque Cheesecake. It tasted better, for our taste at least. For the most part everything we tried was delicious. Definitely coming back for some single serve desserts.

I used to live much closer to Echo Park and Alberto was my go-to tamale purveyor. I'd stack frozen tamales in my freezer because my kids love them and could heat them up for breakfast even when they were very young. I live in SGV now so going to Alberto's is a bit of a trek and we don't get to have their tamales often. Well, not anymore! Apparently the owner also loves Alberto's tamales and asked to co-sell them in her bakery. They've been selling these tamales since Christmas... and I just now discovered this! No more long treks to get these tasties! And of course all of Wild Whisk's fancy baked goods will make excellent desserts after your tamale meal! Spread the word! Best baked goods AND tamales in the 'hood!!
